Hi,
Does anyone here have an installed image of A/UX 3.0? A/UX 2.0?
I was stupid enough to sell the copies I got while I was at Apple.
A/UX 3.0 was really cool... would have used it more seriously but I bailed
to the NeXT camp, which had much cooler OS software than anyone, at the
time.
Nowadays the Apple hardware is fun... would like to play with Spindler-era
A/UX again. Especially if it turns out my SE30 will still boot... it's
somewhere in my barn. Playing with a Terminal shell on a monochrome mac
like the SE30 is kind of a trip. It works quite well, once you get the
real GNU C compilers set up correctly and such.
I wasn't completely disrespectful to my SE30. I gave it a new case around
10 years ago and boxed it. Hopefully she is still ok. :-) Just need to
find her.
Regards,
Thomas

I remember there was a disk image of A/UX 3.1 floating around for use with Shoebill (an emulator designed for running A/UX).
Found it: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/aux-apple-unix-68k-version- 301-31-update (the bottom green link that has Shoebill in the title).

You might find MacRelix interesting. It doesn't have a GCC port yet, but it's open source and runs on anything with 4+ MiB from System 6 to 10.6.
