I too just finished "Moreta" By Anne McCaffrey, and
also found it excellent. Well worth buying in hardback
(but I got it at a discount bookstore for only $8.23)

The reason it continues none of the other story lines
is that it takes place in a previuos turn. In one of
the Dragon{song, singer, drums} books, it appears that
one of the most-requested ballads at Gathers is
"Moreta's ride". She is a genuine heroine, and I think
that it isn't a spoiler (at least for anyone who's read
the other books - is there anyone who hasn't? Why
not?) to say that the sense of impending tragedy
through the book gave a good deal of poignancy to many
of the scenes.

Buy it.
