One of the Australian Free-to-Air channels was re-broadcasting X-Files
last year. Five nights a week, I think it was. Yum.
Strangely, it was on what most most would consider as a multi-lingual
channel. Why?? Well, I suppose it was U.S. English!!

When I re-watch the series from the beginning it will in fact be the
first time I watch it in the original English. During the original run
I was living in Italy, where everything on television is dubbed -- in
fact very badly.
Now I can certainly follow the series in English. If my memory were
fresh I would appreciate the difference in characterisation, and maybe
be even disturbed by that at the beginning. I find that in Italian male
voice actor in particular always make an effort to sound virile and
dramatic, even where the original is different. The Italian voice for
Hugh Laurie in House is a striking example.

Comet TV on Dish Network and some terrestrial stations is replaying the
X-Files.

Do you think that the series is still appealing to younger generations?
I wonder if the typical entertainment language has already changed too
much.

Coolio… nice to see you here. Also nice to see some chatter in the
newsgroup again.
I’ve been watching some of the mythology episodes from the start of the
show up until season 6 or 7. Have enjoyed those. What I notice now is the
difference in technology now vs then. Whilst there were computers boy those
monitors were chunky and faxes still played a role.

As I typed, above, one of the Australian Free-to-Air channels replayed
X-Files last year, even getting up to the cast change where Mulder left
and was replaced by (someone!!) .... but, then, it seemed that there was
a completely new series or two where Mulder came back .... and Scully
had had a Baby with Mulder as the father, I think!!
Were 'they' trying to get a re-boot/re-sumption up and running??
Or am I mis-remembering things!!

The two replacements for Mulder and Scully were played by competent
actors but could never had the same chemistry. It could not work, and
everybody knew it. I curious to see if I would be more or less
forgiving now.

Last time I checked, I'm not a bot. But I suppose that's exactly what a bot would say.

You might well be seeing people migrating away from "talk to everyone" systems to a more focused discussion groups. Which the ancient newsgroups are perfect. But I suppose I will still have to limit images to gifs.
