Yes, yes they did. I never got to personally experience one, but there
were a number of so-called 'X-pos'.

LOL - okay, that's a good name.
Although my favorite was Leprecon.
With Tuscon being a close second, although nobody ever got that one.

In the Boston area, the local SF group used to (and might still
do) put on small get-togethers in Lexington, calling it Lexicon
(with the registration referred to as "sintax").
And there was (and might still be) a series of SF cons in Detroit
known as Autoclave.

"PV" are his initials (just as "jayembee" are mine). I know what
they stand for, and have for several years. It wouldn't be that
difficult for you to find out for yourself.

Alternately, I could just refer to the two of you as "anonyshits". You
can see the conunudrum.

Not only mentioned, they actually created a character on the show
specifically to address the fan base. That was just cool as hell.

Only several years? I would have thought that you'd have known what

Hey, at least the chorus of "The X-Files was highly mediocre" has
finally stopped. Apparently they feel less embarrassed when they're
anonymous.

Listen trot-head, an entire newsgroup throwing you into their
killfile (something I'm going to do in about two seconds because you're
content free) doesn't mean your point is proven. Usually, it means your
point is so lame that nobody cares, or you are an asswipe. In this case,
both. Buh bye now. *

Welcome to the club. I find it amusing that when someone publically
announces that they're plonking some assclown, they get derided
for thinking that they're so damn important that anyone would care
whom they plonk or not. But when they just plonk the clown and move
on, they get accused of running and hiding.
I find it amusing that The Trots continues to believe that we're
"anonymous". I've been on the net for over 20 years, have never
changed my handle, and while I don't do so now, up until the
early 90s (when I first went on a forced break from Usenet), I
always included my real name and email address in my sig.
One minute with Google will reveal that information to anyone who
cares. Trots, however, would apparently prefer to sit there and
call people names like some elementary schoolyard ass.

Hunh. How about that. No, I was talking about the infamous performer The
Enigma from the Jim Rose sideshow circus, whose entire body is covered
with jigsaw-puzzle tattoos. (He's had horns implanted in his forehead
now, too.) He appeared along with Rose in one of the most famous X-Files
episodes ever, season 2's 'Humbug', as a character called The Conundrum
who ate live bugs and stuff.
(Mulder: 'I saw him down by the river earlier today, he was eating a
fish!' Rose: 'He knows between-show snacks will ruin his appetite.'
Mulder: 'I could be mistaken. Maybe it was another bald-headed
jigsaw-puzzle-tattooed naked guy I saw.')
