I recently saw a documentary on Pink Floyd, and suddenly realized what Tom Servo was hinting at in "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank" with "See you on the dark side of Raoul!" Anyone else who is experiencing MST3K on decades-long timescales? ;-)

I recently purchased a compilation of classic commericals from the 50s
through the 70s. Suddenly a whole raft of references were comprehensible.
Specifically, the "The chicks are up in arms" riff from "Catalina Caper",
which was taken almost verbatim from a dairy commercial.

I should try the commercials video thing sometime.
For me the one that most strikes me is from one episode, I want
to say from Season Seven, where Tom sings out, ``Ed Sul-li-vannnn'',
which I took to be a bit of stray silliness. Years later I finally did
see _Bye, Bye, Birdie_, and realized that *this* was the thing referred
to and oh, yes, that's a perfectly correct reference to make. Also a
funny one.
