Hey, we're going to have the chance to watch 'Encounter At
Farpoint' all over again and realize how much nothing there was in
the show, only this time, it'll be remastered and with new effects
to more clearly highlight the nothing:

I agree about the nothingness of TNG. So, to sum up: Who cares?

Changing the topic kind of slantwise, is there some explanation of why
reruns of DS9 are never shown? I thought that show was far superior in
all ways.

I thought the Nothing was the foe in "The Neverending Story" (some of
whose dialogue was provided by ROBERT EASTON, of "The Giant Spider
Invasion" fame). Maybe one is just part of the other. Didn't it turn
out that most of Next Generation was just a simulation, or something,
set up by Q? :-)

The rebroadcast of the series is being held up by the "Occupy Deep Space
Nine" protests. Enough with the "I am the Bajoran 99%" signs!

What are the "Occupy Deep Space Nine" protests about? I couldn't find
info on the internets.

That is because the protests have not been covered by the Cardassian
main stream media.

I can get Voyager and Enterprise on Netflix, but not DS9 (or as I
like to call it "Star Trek: For Grownups").

There is something very wrong with this.

Hmmm, wonder if there's Cardassian samizdat...If not, could you or
someone else please tell me what it's all about? Thanks.

Actually, that's changed. At least, the first and last seasons
of Deep Space Nine are on Netflix Instant now. I watched the series
finale (for the first time) just a couple days ago.

I also recently watched the Voyager finale, for the first time,
and now hate Voyager in all kinds of ways I didn't when the show was on
and I didn't watch it.

As a fan who became one as a result of TNG, I must protest! I am not a
Merry Man!

I find it hard to believe that nothing in the show would include:

A Peabody Award Winning Episode. ("The Big Goodbye")

A continuation of the TOS trend to deal with issues including:
- Aging ("Half-a-life")
- Witch hunting prosecution ("The Drumhead")
- Resistance Movements (at least 3 different ones)
- Torture of Prisoners ("There are four lights!")
- Crime and Punishment ("Justice" [Though some say that the punishment
should have been carried out here])
- Kidnapped childern ("Suddenly Human" )
- Rape ("Violations")
- Ethics ("Ethics")

Now I will admit that there are episodes which didn't live up to Captain
Picard's promise at the end of "Encounter at Farpoint" ...

"Oh no, number one, I'm sure most will be much more interesting."

.... but then again, there was an Emmy Award winning show that billed itself
as a show about nothing.

Now that I've done my part, I have to admit that I could have done without
"Shades of Gray"

Oh, I'll agree with that.
