A friend of mine, Tim Schürmann, wrote an article about the system. He
may also know details how to get the system working.
Maybe you want to contact him via http://www.tim-schuermann.de

I think ProDOS was very similar to RapiDOS, which I have.
Is the 1541 board a long board that hooks into the 6502 on the 41 and
you install the 6502 into the board?
If so, there is a 64 rom, and a user port adapter that converts to a 16
pin ribbon cable.

again I'll pop up here telling you that I've done
some work in this topic. Please direct your browser
to:
http://d81.de/Professional-DOS/
and get a cup of text to read. In addition and
contrast what other said here, the ProfDOS hardware
(DemonDOS in the UK, RapidDOS Pro in the US)
consists of the following parts:
Userport version (Releases 1, 2, 2C, 4):
* ProfDOS main expansion board,
intercepts 6502 within 1541
(Userport variant EPROM)
* 1541 Parallel cable adaptor/connector
* Parallel cable and Userport connector
* C64/C128/C128D Kernal ROM replacement
(Userport variant)
Expansionport version (Releases 3, 3C, 5, 6)
* ProfDOS main expansion board,
intercepts 6502 within 1541
(Userport variant EPROM)
* 1541 Parallel cable adaptor/connector
* Parallel cable and Expansion port
adaptor (I got an Expansion port adaptor
which is a relabelled FloppyFlash!
adaptor, it contains a 6522 VIA on it
along with some control logic)
* C64/C128/C128D Kernal ROM replacement
(Expansionport variant)
Oh, and by the way, since I started my hardware
oriented projects at d81.de with documenting
ProfessionalDOS I again ask all of you around
here for manual scans (preferrable the english
ones), EPROM dumps, board photos to get material
for improvind the documentation when I hopefully
get some time for this next year.
Or simply send me en email only just telling me
that and which ProfessionalDOS (DemonDOS /
RapidDOSPRo) you own. _When_ I get back to that
project I then know who to ask for this and that
pieces.
Bye, Womo
