Subject: I got my Ys VI
Ys VI was released today, and I was lucky enough to be living in Japan
on the release date. I rushed out to the nearest computer store and
picked mine up today. I didn't reserve it, but I thought I had might as
well try anyway, and sure enough there were plenty of copies available
at the store. I sa w plenty of other people buying theirs too. (Mostly guys in their 20's.
The kids nowadays don't care about old series like Ys.)
I must say I am quite impressed with the game so far. I didn't like Ys
V that much (it was a good game, but it just wasn't Ys), so I wasn't
expecting too much from Ys VI. Luckily, I was wrong. I haven't played a
game that grabbed my attention this much from the start in a LONG time.
I only have my w eak laptop with me here in Japan, so I have to play it with the
resolution way down, and a bunch of the cool texture mapping and
lighting effects turned off, but it hasn't affected my enjoyment of the
game at all so far.
The music is quite good, though some of it doesn't quite have that "Ys
sound" that we've come to love. Conversely, other tracks sound like
they're trying too hard to sound like "Ys" and end up sounding a bit
forced to me. Great music though, overall.
Ys fans, get your hands on this game as soon as you can!
