Hey people,
Please don't knock this email im sending out to all of you right now as
an advertisement (another list did that) because I have a GENUINE question,
and obviously have been posting to this list the last couple days.
Turbo Music: Its got to be out there. I want it, need it, and have the
urge to remake some of it. I was wondering if any of you have or know if any
mp3s or cds from some of the more mainstream turbo US titles are available.
I'm in a band here in Jersey City, NJ called Evil Adam and in the past I
have remade some music from Starcraft and an ancient PC game called Demon
Stalkers. I've been wanting to give my hand at some of the music from
Blazing Lasers, Bonk, Legendary Axe and the RPG portion of Final Lap Twin,
among othes, but the only stuff I have found have been pretty poor quality
MID files here and there. Since i usually like to learn the song listening
to it straight off my computer where I record (not that close to where my
duo is) having a cd or mp3 of the songs would be infinitely helpful!
If anyone has any suggestions or files or cds they could send to me,
trade, or sell, please let me know! I use kazzaa, aim, and have ftp space
that it could be uploaded to or it could just even be emailed. Please
respond to me here or you can message me on AIM at "Evil Adam"
Thanks,
Evil Adam

Ys I & II Complete is a PC version of Ys that Falcom released recently. The
graphics are very, VERY good...some of the best 2D stuff I've ever seen. If
you want to check it out, go to Falcom's homepage (www.falcom.com). This
will be the first time we've seen an Ys game in the US since the Turbo Grafx,
no? Oh, and the first four episodes of the Ys anime come out on DVD today!

but that's the point who here feels that a game should be more than good
graphics and sound? Look at the playstation, great use of cd tech (ie sound
and graphics) but so many of the games are unfun/boring to play.
some of the best games have ethier an addictive quality to them or a
compleing story shadow has neither!
> but the rest of the game is very well done and it just looks so sharp.
really

how many times have we read a review that says "great graphics and sound but
after you get past that there is nothing left to keep you playing" it's like
a cake that looks great on the outside lots of icing, but the cake is hallow
theres' NOTHING GOOD INSIDE! We need to complain when games like this are
made so the publishers can (hopefully please god hopefully) learn from thier
mistakes so we can get games like splatterhouse, Ys, metal gear solid,
Half-life! Not shadow of the beast, the sega cd make your own video series,
or plumbers don't wear ties (man that last one was BAD)
does that mean i'll play a game with losey graphics? well yes if the
gameplay is easy enough to learn and is compelling i would

what?? really you did i don't beleieve it !! :)

To anybody who cares--Shadow Of The Beast is a good game.
Contrary to Derrick's opinion, I actually do not find Shadow Of The
Beast's graphics to be so wonderful. They are very good. But it is not
an orgasm for the eyes. Shadow Of The Beast was originally designed for
the Amiga computer, where it was seen as a trendsetter, and it truly
was. Its parallax became the gold standard, for that computer and for
other consoles as well, although it was quickly improved upon I will
admit, Shadow Of The Beast was one of the first to do the things it
does very, very well. Not just the graphics, but the gameplay. The
gameplay of Shadow Of The Beast is not at all dissimilar to Impossible
Mission, items to find, purposes to learn, all for the sake of
completing the game. Its gameplay is superb. It is simple. It is a
thing easily accomplished. It is, however, extremely well thought out,
and it is also very, very difficult. Those things do not ordinarily
coexist at all. Simplicity almost by definition begs ease of play, and
fine-tuned gameplay is often associated with a game that allows you to
blow through stages quickly. But Shadow Of The Beast takes your
expectations of the good and associates them with other good traits.
Shadow Of The Beast exists across a schism, one which Derrick does not,
I believe, enjoy moving over. Shadow Of The Beast is very European. It
is a platform game that incorporates quest as much as an RPG, and yet
does it on a platform game's terms. In my opinion, Shadow Of The Beast
on the Duo is absolutely the best version of the game, for no other
reason than it is a showcase of the best technology at work. And yes,
I'm saying that the graphics are the best of all versions on the Duo.
(Again, in my opinion.) I am not, however, saying that they are the
best graphics, effects, animation or et cetera that you will see
considering all of your potential Turbo library, but to brush Shadow
aside as crap without reservation is to miss a great deal of what's
going on in this game. Rarely has any game been so well at so much and
still be so different in the process. To the Sonic-weaned player,
powering up with other Japanese inspired thematic mascots, Shadow is
all at once too cerebral and too action-oriented. There aren't quite as
many games that will frustrate as much as entertain. (I did say it's
hard, didn't I?) I wouldn't dream of recommending anyone steer clear.
It takes a certain character to get into it, but it may only require a
mood. The kind where you know you're ready to close the shades and turn
off the ringer for the afternoon, until you learn to unlearn.
Shadow Of The Beast has a lot of fans, and that's my opinion as to why.

Unfortunately I was only there for Saturday but I had a great time. They
had three big screen TVs setup for the current systems playing Halo/DOA3
for xbox, super monkeyball/super smash bros. for gamecube and some 2d
fighting game for PS2.
Implode was set up for play most of the day. They also had an Implode
tournament but I didn't get to play. I heard somebody had Lords of
Thunder in the Duo earlier in the day but didn't see it.
That was mostly it for the Turbo related stuff except for Pacland and
Ghouls & Ghosts arcade machines and a few Super Cds for sale in the
dealer area.
I did get to play in the Saturn Bomberman tournament which was pretty
cool. But we only went up to 6 players at a time instead of 10. 6 was
still pretty insane!
The highlight of the day for me was the bands in the evening. They all
rocked.
I have a few pictures I'll try to put up tonight although they're pretty
lousy.

hey there,
i'm in jersey too! just outside of ocean city and atlantic city. i'm
in a band too but our gig season ended with the summer. maybe we'll check you
guys out sometime. anyway, the best way i know of getting turbo cd music is
to run it through a regular cd burner and copy the tracks then pop them into a
computer and convert them to mp3. if there is anything in particular you need
i may be able to help even though i'm a bit busy these days. take it easy,
george
ps- there are some cd's that have the audio locked off for some reason. i
don't know why but there are plenty out there (and saturn games as well) which
can just be popped in to a cd player and most burners and played.
