Subject: Exile I: import vs. domestic versions


Just curious, does anybody know the answer to this?  What are the differences 
between the Japanese and US versions of "Exile"?  I think I read here once 
(around '95 or '96) that the Japanese version really underscored the 
crusaders as the BAD, murderous guys... while the US version lightened up on 
that.  Working Designs released the US version (and I am one of those people 
that LOVE their games and the silly sense of humor) and I'm also curious to 
know if anyone knows what got "re-translated" by WD.

Let's see...  The most significant difference is that the Japanese version
has the 'warp' magic.  For some weird reason, it was taken out of the US
version.  Here are the rest of the differences I can remember:

- US version lacks 'Reno' logo on load
- Cinemas have been slightly reworked time-wise
- 'Drug' menu changed to 'Tonic'
- Different title screen in US version

You may be right, barry, about the religious theme being toned down a
little.  I think a lot of the buildings in the Japanese versions are
identified as 'mosques', etc.

I have the Japanese version, if anyone's interested in a trade...
