Subject: Scratched games and problems?

I just joined the list and had a few questions for some of the more
experienced duo users. I just picked up another Duo after misplacing
mine years ago when moving. I found a number of my old CDs and a few
Hucards and have been playing avidly since I got the system. My problem
is a few of my games are scratched and don't run 100%, for example
redbook audio tracks in Dragon Slayer cut out or won't start. All of
this runs fine using the original disc on emulators however, which gave
me the idea of making a backup of the game that would be rid of the
scratching problems. Since a PC CD-rom is obviously a bit sharper then
my Duo's laser my thought was that I could make a backup and play it on
my system (I've had to do this with old Sega CD titles I've bought off
ebay that were messed up as as well), the problem is my Duo won't read
the backup at all, it goes past the system screen and just sits locked
up, I was thinking maybe it's the brand of CDR I was using, has anyone
else experienced this kind of problem? Also any luck with those "CD
repair kits" that apparently wipe scratches out?
Thanks
