I have played through Xak 1&2 and Xak III. They are not as good as Ys
(but what is?). But they are very good games on their own. They are
easily played without too much Japanese knowledge needed. I have not,
however made it through Fray Xak Gaiden. Highly recommended.

The later ones are definitely better, if possible, stick with PL5 or
PL93. Other than differences in stadiums (etc), the big difference
is team rosters, so unless you are really interested in Japanese Baseball
Leagues, it will probbaly not be worth it to have all the Power League
games. As far as baseball games on the PCE, these are the better ones.

How far did you get in Xak Gaiden? I got stuck on this one stage, in a
town. COuldn't leave, talked to everyone, and just couldn't get out of
there. I think it was after the 3rd boss or something. Up until then,
I was really enjoying it!

Hmmm, I've finished this game quite easily, Paul, but it's been a long time
ago. Have you already passed through the "Path across the Ocean" stage? If
not, I believe you'll have to talk to an old man, on the left corner of this
village.

But, believe me, it's something pretty simple. I don't know Japanese, but I
finished Xak Gaiden in 2 days.... maybe because I'm a fan of Fray games
since the MSX.

    Take care,

Hey Marcelo:

Thanks for the tips. I got so frustrated, I just stopped, so I can't
for the life of me recall where the heck I was in the game. I think I
had just beaten a Dragon on the stage before, and the town I'm in, has
an old fart and a girl talking in the middle (they always tell me the
same thing -- something about give them more time) and there seems to
be a very small forest area with a log cabin on the far left side of
the city -- does that help?

A German game musician, Chris Huelsbeck, composed the
music to Jim Power. Is the PCE-CD music arranged by
someone else? Who is this Chris Mosell (?) character?
 :-)

Interesting...I guess I never paid attention...just assumed it was Huelsbeck.
I guess I need to drag Power out and check. My personal favorite Huelsbeck
soundtrack was that of Mega Turrican on the Genesis...pretty brilliant. I
never tooled around with the Amiga, so I'm not sure of how close the music
(or game for that matter) cloned Turrican 3. I have Jim Power on the SNES
also...hmm...might as well go back and check that out also. Personally...and
not having played the Genny port...I still like the PCE version the
best...goofy 3D glasses or not. I controls like a dog and it's a bit stiff,
yet, oddly enough, I've always enjoyed playing it. Better than a poke in the
eye...or a Mary Kate and Ashley game for that matter!
