I'd expect between $300-400. I know the demand on some PC Engine wares has
waned; however, I believe the last copy on eBay went for over $300 still. I
know eBay isn't an accurate marker for anything, but I paid $300 for it
myself out of Japan two years ago.

I added a bunch of PC-Engine / Turbo Duo print ads to my website. Just
go to the bonus section, and the rest should be fairly easy:
http://www.classicgaming.com/japangaming
It's got from Lo Xanadu, to Advanced VG, and even Space Fantasy Zone.

I was digging through a PC-Engine Official Catalogue '94 that I also
found, and it's got a very small splurge on both Tengai Makkyou III
and Space Fantasy Zone (never new SFZ was slated for 4800 yen). It's
also got a 4 page article on the PC-FX (before it came out)
and even goes into how it can handle 3D Polygons. :)

Enjoy!

Paul

Hi guys,

It's been a long time I didn't write anything to the list. Well, I have =
been playing this game lately and I got stuck in the game, I don't know =
what to do or where to go next. I got thru all 6 levels of the tower, and =
it seemed there is nothing more for me to do. I no knowledge of Japanese, =
I just play it and guessing this and that.

I also have couple questions to ask:

1) On the first level of the tower, the three rooms on the three corners, =
they seemed to be locked, how do I open them?

2) On the third or second level, there is a room behind a room with a key, =
it seemed there is no way I could access to it.

3) On the fourth level, there is a room that I couldn't enter thru because =
of a room before it kick me out all the time.

4) On the fifth level, how do I put the ruby colors to match with the =
color of the doors?

Thanks,
Hiro

Why not just assume that all the PCE games are used.? It would make your
life a lot easier. I mean, Dracula X, Sapphire? They came out a while ago,
are you guys really imagining that there's some magical video game shop in
Japan that's actually larger than a Manhattan apartment bedroom, and has new
stock from the early 90's? Whatever.

Argh!! I dusted off the old PCE SCD unit today, and I'm missing the most
important piece!!! The little grey AC cable that bridges between the CD
unit and the Core grafx. I am also missing the AC adapter for the Core
Grafx (dubba damn it). Anyone have an extra little grey cable, or know of a
quick fix (like if I use another AC adapter and plugged it into my Core
Grafx?) HELP!!! I can't fight my burning desire to play DE2, Browning,
Drac X, Dragon Slayer, Ys 4, L-dis..............................

That shop that people would be imagining would be called Medialand,
which has had both Dracaul X & Sapphire sealed (of which the Sapphire
now belongs to another lister). OTher sealed goodies I've seen there:
Magical Chase (bought)
Spriggan Mark II (bought)
Legend of Xanadu II (bought)
Emerald Dragon (didn't buy...DAMN IT!)
Gekisha Boy (bought)
soldier Blade (bought)
Hi-leg Fantasy (bought)
Himitsu no Hanazono (bought)
and quite a few others I can't remember.

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but in my case (Double Dragon 2) I
was TOLD that it was new, which is the only reason I purchased it (the
price was a tad on the high side). Had they said "it isn't sealed,
doesn't have the spine card, and the disc is covered in scratches"
(which is the case) I wouldn't have bothered. That aside, I'm very,
very fanatical about keeping my games/equipment in tip-top shape for
both cosmetic and performance reasons. Somehow my brother can't seem to
keep a controller (for any system) in one piece for more than a year,
nor does he own a CD game that isn't covered in fingerprints...yet all
of my stuff is perfect...including my NES Advantage joystick purchased
in 1988. Anal? Yes. But I like the results. And besides...I just (as in
yesterday) purchased a factory-sealed copy of Fighting Street, so I'm
guessing there are sealed copies of just about anything out there
somewhere.

I tend to agree. However, my experience is different.

Good point, but you can still find new PCE games in stores in Japan. You
just have to know where to look. And I concur with Paul... Medialand is
one of those stores.

Just within the last two years I found and bought around 50 new and
shrinkwrapped PCE games at various stores in japan... nowhere near the big
places like Tokyo and Osaka. Also found new hardware (Core 1 & 2, SGX,
"suitcase" style interface unit+CDROM, Duo, Duo-R, GT TV Tuner, GT Power
Pack, etc).

I cleared out one store of all their PCE games (about 12, all new) after
talking the guy down to Y1000/ea. They were still marked with original
price. Hell, the same store had new copies of Zelda 1 and 2 for Famicon
disc system among other Famicon discs and new Intellivision(!) games.

I'd have to say, for people not in Japan, don't expect new/shrinkwrapped
games, however don't discount the fact they are out there and more
plentiful than one might think if you're willing and able to look around
in Japan.

Imagine my surprise when I happened to be looking at some Gameboy items in
a glass enclosed shelf and I noticed a brandnew Forgotten Worlds+Ave Pad 3
still sealed in box sitting way in the back. Snagged that for Y500 last
year. :)

You know what I wonder, why would you pay several hundred dollars more when
you can find basically mint/complete copies of the same games for much
cheaper. I mean, is it worth an extra god knows how much $$$ just to have
shrinkwrap on a game that you could still find used in virtually the same
condition? Also, I know this might not be the oversight I think it is, but
when I was in Akihabara, I noticed that the Japanese shrinkwrap ALL thier
games ... even the used ones. Is it possible, some mismarketing is involved
here?

In my experience, they're responsiveness is rather spotty. If he thinks

Uhm, maybe if you emailed me? I could respond.
Its nice to make comments about someone, but I have never received any
emails from you.
Usual turnaround on emails is 6-12 hrs.

It depends on the store. Medialand definitely does this. Trader does
kind of, but they've got those hard plastic casings, like US music
stores. I can't recall if Liberty does or not... I do believe they do
though.
