Actually some other companies also produced many classic budget titles,
such as Firebird and Codemasters.

There's quite a bit of cross-over between Mastertronic and Codemasters, the
early Mastertronic titles were written by David and Richard Darling, Last V8
was "reborn" as Red Max which even uses a redone version of the "extra"
first level of V8 128, their Games Creator became Creations (it was also
sold by Mirrorsoft prior to Mastertronic having the rights, i believe) and
the BMX games trend the Darlings started with BMX Racers continued to BMX
Simulator and onwards to all the other likkle simulators.
But personally, if i had to point at one budget company i'd point at
Firebird Silver / Silverbird simply for games like Warhawk. Like
Mastertronic.net there's a great Telecomsoft (originally a division of
British Telecom and the base company behind Firebird, Silverbird and
Rainbird) history site run by a former employee at;

Mastertronic released a huge amount of games but 90% of them were lousy.
Firebird released far less but the games usually had a higher quality
(except the first ones they did).
