Two high schoolers who say they were just trying to make some money are now in hot water.<\/p>\n

As WCBS 880\u2019s Jim Smith reported, Matt Molinari and his friend, both seniors from Bridgewater, were going door-to-door advertising their snow shoveling services in advance of the storm.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe weren\u2019t looking to break the law. We just didn\u2019t know the law,\u201d Molinari said.<\/p>\n

But when the two crossed into Bound Brook, they were stopped by cops.<\/p>\n

\u201cKind of saw like a spotlight, like a police spotlight,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Police were alerted after someone called to report a suspicious person.<\/p>\n

Molinari said they then got a lesson in local ordinances, putting their high school shoveling business on ice.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018They need a permit, unpermitted solicitation is not allowed,\u2019\u201d Molinari said, recalling what the police told them.<\/p>\n
