Obama made an appearance at the SXSW festival this weekend. In case you\u2019re wondering, SXSW is basically a hub for media conferences and nerd-fest that Barack ditched Nancy Reagan\u2019s funeral for. Priorities. It was there that our Commander in Chief shamelessly made an ass out of himself<\/a>. Again.<\/p>\n

The president\u2026 made it clear he didn\u2019t see why phones should be off limits. If, technologically, it is possible to make an impenetrable device where there is no key, no door at all, how do we apprehend the child pornographer, how do we disrupt a terrorist plot? \u201cIt\u2019s fetishizing our phones above every other value,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd that can\u2019t be the right answer. If [the government] can\u2019t get in, then everyone is walking around with a Swiss bank account in their pocket.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cHow do we apprehend the child pornographer?\u201d\u00a0<\/em>Hopefully not the same way the government \u201capprehends\u201d rapists or those who commit treason by jeopardizing national security. Obviously Obama\u2019s newest attack on personal privacy\u00a0stems from the whole San Bernardino-terrorists<\/a> debacle. But really, the FBI eyeing the tech field has been a long time coming. The government has inserted itself into just about every industry possible. Look no further than Obama showing up at SXSW, where presidents have no possible business other than to push propaganda where it doesn\u2019t belong. Uncle Sam does not like being left out. Whenever he steps in he brings a load of new rules with him that somehow manage to limit our freedoms even more.<\/p>\n

Obama\u2019s remarks are not only patronizing but condescending. And douchey. He\u2019s implying that the American people are being unreasonable. The government just wants unfettered access to all<\/em> of your data: including bank account information, coordinates, passwords, your entire network. Remember, if they don\u2019t get their way\u2026<\/p>\n

How do we disrupt a terrorist plot? \u2026There are going to be some constraints imposed to ensure we are safe.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That\u2019s some class-A manipulation. Don\u2019t you want to be safe, America? (read Dear Wimps Willing to Exchange Liberty for \u2018Safety\u2019<\/a>) See, they\u2019re being reasonable. They promise to only use their proposed magic key against terrorists. You know, the terrorists who weren\u2019t an issue to Obama not long ago (see \u2018ISIS is Contained\u2019<\/a> and \u2018America Doesn\u2019t Face any Existential Threats\u2019<\/a>). The ones who seem to only exist when it\u2019s convenient.<\/p>\n
