Bonk became the de-facto mascot for the TurboGrafx-16 when Bonk’s Adventure was released in 1990. It’s no surprise then that there were sequels and the first sequel, Bonk’s Revenge, was released the following year.

The Bonk games, including Bonk’s Revenge, are fairly typical 2D platform games. Bonk is a cave-man type character and the game is set in prehistoric times. The 16-bit graphics are nice and Bonk’s Revenge is a pretty decent game even if it is a little short.

Bonk’s Revenge was re-released for the Turbo Duo as one of the games on the CD pack-in in 1992. There was also a Bonk’s Revenge for the Game Boy but it was a different game as a opposed to a port of the TurboGrafx-16 version. The original was also re-relased for the Wii Virtual Console and in 2013 on the Wii U Virtual Console.

Shockman is a platform game released for the TurboGrafx-16 in 1992. The Japanese title is “Kaizou Chouin Shuibinman 2: Aratanaru Teki”. In Japan the game was part of a series but Shockman was the only one in the series released in North America.

Shockman is a pretty average platform game. It has decent graphics and level design and if you are looking for a game in this genre on the TG-16 then it isn’t a bad choice. The game was also released on the Wii’s Virtual Console in 2007. As of 2014 it is also available on the Wii U’s Virtual Console but only in Japan.
