  • 50 Cent Comics – New Mutants #46 (2012)

Next up in my 50 cent comic book haul from MegaCon 2019 is New Mutants #46. This isn’t the original run obviously but I’ve enjoyed the scattered issues of this volume that I have read.

However, I’m coming in here on the 3rd part of a story that involves time travel so it’s not all that clear what exactly is going on. Future versions of some of the team members are trying to stop present version of team members from doing stuff.

I didn’t enjoy this one quite as much as the others I picked up but I’m sure that’s largely to do with where I’m coming in on this particular story line.

  • 50 Cent Comics – New Mutants #39 (2012)

Next up from my 50-cent comics haul from MegaCon earlier this year is New Mutants #39 (volume 3 from circa 2011-2012). The original run of the New Mutants was one of my favorite comics back in the day. So far, I’ve been enjoying the scattered issues of volume 3 that I have been reading lately too.

In this issue, members of the team are visiting the island Paradise, the island where Doug Ramsey, a.k.a. Cypher, died. This visit is because of some dream he had. They run across various creatures created by Ani-mator and apparently Ani-mator is trying to reconstitute himself via some sort of virus. Unfortunately, the New Mutants contract this virus.

By the end, everyone is pretty sick and Warlock combines with Cypher in an effort to save him. Will this be enough? Will they find a cure? Can they defeat Ani-mator? I’m not sure, I don’t think I have the next issue :).

  • 50 Cent Comics – New Mutants #25 (2011)

Next on in my long line of 50 cent comics is New Mutants #25. This issue is from 2011, not from the original run.

There’s quite a bit going on in this issue. It opens with the team (or part of it anyway) containing a Nimrod infestation at an auto factory.

Meanwhile, Illyana is being put on trial of a sort for her recent deception of the X-Men in using them to help her clean out Limbo. Something about putting all of reality at risk…that sort of thing. In the end, they decide to lock her up.

By the end, Dani (a.k.a. Moonstar) is put in charge of the team by Cyclops and sent to hunt down Nate Gray. But, as you can see, he’s busy being held captive and tortured.
