Season 11 Is Coming (The X-Files)

For those that don’t already know. The X-Files will be returning in a 10 episode Season 11. The show ended its original run with the end of Season 9 back in 2002 but was revived in 2016 for a six episode Season 10. Season 10 received good ratings and mixed, but generally positive reviews.

Personally, I thought Season 10 was great – at least as good as your average original season – though the ending left a lot to be desired. In fact, the only thing (other than how it ended) that I really had a problem with was how The Lone Gunmen were teased to return. Those were my favorite reoccurring supporting characters from the show and I was looking forward to their comeback. Yes, they supposedly died near the end of the series but the X-Files comics explained how their deaths were faked and to what purpose so there is always a way. It was extremely disappointing to me when their return consisted of vague hallucinatory visions.

Now it’s happening again. Here’s a quote from Fox entertainment chairman David Madden:

“We start the season right up from where the season finale left off with that big helicopter and takes you right from there,” Madden revealed. “You’ll be launched into a very urgent adventure that has a lot to do with William — Mulder and Scully’s kid. so the search for William will be a significant thread through the show. You will see the Cigarette Smoking Man [William B. Davis]. You may see The Lone Gunmen somewhere along the line. There will be other characters from the previous mythology that will be reprised.”

May see the Lone Gunmen? I haven’t seen anything else about those actors being involved and nothing is showing up on Wikipedia or IMDB that would indicate they were involved. Unless this is one big secret, it seems pretty unlikely. I have to admit to being a bit of a skeptic this time around but I certainly want to believe :). Regardless, I am really looking forward to another season of my favorite show of all time, The X-Files. If you have never seen the series, it’s a good time to start binge watching in preparation for season 11. Unfortunately, you may have to by the DVDs/Blue-Ray or purchase digital copies somewhere as Netflix no longer has it.
