This usenet newsgroup archive was created from the archives at http://www.skrenta.com/rt/utzoo-usenet/ which in turn is a copy of Henry Spencer's UTZOO NetNews Archive. The news in that archive was collected between February of 1981 and June of 1991. This is a partial extraction of that archive of stuff that interests me. Basically I am doing this because I have found Google's ever changing 'Groups' to be too cumbersome to search and use effectively. More will be added as I get around to it.
The messages are sorted by the date they were recieved by the host system they were originally copied from. I have generally put together an index for every month that shows who the message was from, the subject and the received date. Keep in mind that a message sent December 31st, 1983 may not have arrived until 1984. Most messages were sent and recieved the same day or within a couple days. There are occasional messages though where these dates are weeks apart. Eventually I will add some kind of search...

See also a more complete (but less organized) version of the archive here. This archive is organized based on how they were originall archived by tape. So everything is organized chronologically roughly speaking but a group will be spread out with some messages in each tape directory.
