Jen ) Organization: Rochester Institute of Technology, Information Systems Lines: 51 Hello there - I just sold my Amiga 1000 and bought an Amiga 500. I'm having serious problems with this Amiga 500 and I'm regretting my decision to sell my 1000. This is what has happened so far and if anyone knows of a solution at a reasonable cost please email me or mail me here or at MXJ2361@RITVAX.BITNET or V117KDDL@UBVMS.BITNET Many many thanks in advance. Here are the problems: (1) The Amiga 500 seems to lock up frequently - when I powerup sometimes the capslock key starts to blink and the keyboard is locked up. If I reseat the A501 unit it sometimes works, or if I leave the computer off for 5 minutes it will boot fine. (2) The internal drive on the Amiga 500 seems to have problems telling if a disk is formatted or bad, if the write protect is on. I seem to get read/write errors more frequently and sometimes disk read good and other times they are NON-DOS. (3) My C= 2002 Monitor died within a week after I had hooked it up to my Amiga 500. At first, at boot up I would get a blue screen/black screen then I would get the workbench prompt. At times the screen would brighten and dim and finally one day the screen flashed and then snapped and crackled. After turning it back on, the screen was totally out of sync. The picture was semi-visible but there was alot of distortion. Totally unusable. Also, sometimes when using my US Robotics HST 1440 modem on my Amiga, I would hear characters being send to my modem being echoed via my Speaker on my Amiga 500. The following questions are based on where/ and how much: I'm looking to purchase the following type items for my Amiga 1000, used or new. (1) A expansion chassis with two or more Zorro II spec slots, with or without power. (2) An inexpensive memory upgrade card I already have the A501 card, and would like to get an A2000 compatible card (3) An inexpensive hard drive setup with autoboot. Many thanks in advance, pardon any mistakes, this is my first time using this system. -Michael Jen (716) 359-3121 US Snail: 16 Elaine Drive Rochester NY 14623 BITNET: MXJ2361@RITVAX.BITNET V117KDDL@UBVMS.BITNET
