 No, almost no one uses the BIOS routines for serial access 
 (they're not very good) on an IBM PC (or clone) and write
 directly to the hardware.  Since the hardware is on the
 Amiga side...it's not useable.  The parallel port is implemented
 via BIOS access, so it's shareable.

	yup, get a serial card (or multi-function card with serial attached)
	and set it up as COM1:, works fine that way....I do it all the time.
