I've tried to do C64 => A1000 transfers using terminal emulator programs and an RS-232 null modem cable between the serial port on the Amiga and a "real" RS-232 adapter on the C64. The terminal emulators were Handshake on the Amiga, and Autocom (came with a modem) on the C64. Both of these terminal programs have worked flawlessly over many years with many different host machines thru many different modems. However the transfer gave me many problems with extra characters: tabs and line feeds, as I recall; enough to be essentially useless. The text characters did transfer error-free. I tried all the different transfer parameter settings that seemed appropriate on both computers to no avail. I was really disappointed; and I still feel that this hookup should be the most straightforward way to do transfers.
