Has anyone written a routine which basically emulates "write"? I'm
developing a program which needs to be able to send error messages to a
specific user on the system, preferably without "write"'s initial banner
message. I've tried retrieving the user's tty, doing an fopen on that
tty file, and then an fprintf to it. However, all that shows up on that
user's monitor is blank lines or carriage returns. As a test, I tried
"writing" to that user from an O/S prompt, and that works fine. So I'm
pretty stumped right now. Does anyone have any experiences, ideas,
suggestions on this? Please email since I don't seem to have much time
to read News lately.

                                  Thanks in advance,
                                               Michelle
