} I am trying to price a minimal Sun 3/80 system. Buying it all from Sun
} one pays roughly:
 [...]
} The bigger disk is the 5 1/4" CDC Wren IV
} 94171-344 (with SCSI). Has anyone made the "rounds" and found these
} things for a more reasonable price? (A quick glance at Byte shows the
} Connor disk for $1000, and an unamed Archive 150M tape for $900, and a
} Wren 340meg disk for $2800.)
}
} Also, while I'm at it, does anyone know if the CDC Wren V 94181-702 works
} correctly on the above Sun? The recomended partition tables for this disk
} (under SunOS 4.0.3) only indicate 639k total blocks. (I assume these are
} 512 byte blocks.) Is there a known problem that prevents one from using
} the last ~half of the disk?

We use the 702's on 3/50s, 3/60s, 3/260s and SS1's. I think it would be
rather safe to assume that it will work on a 3/80.

a WrenIV 340 can be purchased from BayState in Cambridge for a lot less
than what you quoted above.

A WrenV 702 can even be purchased from BayState for less than what you
quoted above for the WrenIV 340.
