Pershing Jr."Organization: The Internet Lines: 20 I recently leafed through "Systems Network Architecture: A Tutorial" by Anton Meijer (published by Wiley), and it seemed to be a reasonable introduction to SNA protocols. Perhaps a bit on the terse side, but if you are already familiar with networking concepts then it is probably understandable. Also, this book is fairly current, and contains some material on LU-6.2 (APPC) and PU-2.1. However, I'm not in a good position to rate "tutorial" books, as I'm too familiar with SNA. I don't know if Cypser has updated his book ("Communications Architecture for Distributed Systems", published by Addison-Wesley). At the time it first came out (late '70s), it was considered to be THE definitive introduction to SNA. Unless it has been updated, it does not contain any information on SNA Network Interconnect ("gateways"), LU-6.2, PU-2.1, SNADS, DDM, or other such "recent" additions. The IBM publications "SNA Concepts and Products" (GC30-3072) and "SNA Technical Overview" (GC30-3073) are also reasonable. John Pershing IBM Research, Yorktown Heights
