One of the recent issues of _Software-- Practice and Experience_ has an
paper by Don Knuth called (I believe) "The Errors of TeX".  Knuth kept a
log of bugs that were discovered while he was writing TeX.  Later he
classified the bugs into several categories.  The paper describes the
classification and gives an extensive sample of the error log.
