I have a fairly new 2400 Smart One modem that's behaving strangely
recently. Since I have two serial ports, the modem is set for
com3, and it has been working fine for two months. Then yesterday
it refused to connect though it dialed OK (I am sure it's not the
mainframe because I tried several different hosts with the same
results). Then I changed the switches to make it use com4, which
worked fine until this morning whne it refused to connect again.
I immediately changed the dip switches to come back to com3, with
the expected success.

This is surely not what one likes a modem to do. I am thinking of
sending it back to the vendor. But I would like to hear from
you about this behavior.

Thank you in advance.
