Similar to the on that ReadySoft uses on the AMAX. I just want to experiment with the mac without haveing to by Amax. Central Coast Software (the makers of Dos-2-Dos, Quarterback and other such disk utilities) makes just such an adaptor. It's called "Mac-2-Dos" and is bundled with an application that allows you to connect a Mac-compatible 400 or 800K drive to your Amiga to read and write Mac files on Mac format disks. It can also transfer MacPaint files to and from IFF, and can handle CR<-->LF translation when transferring text files. The adaptor is the size of a standard gender-bender. One end plugs into the disk port of the Amiga. The Mac drive cable plugs into the other end. I have been using Mac-2-Dos on my A1000 with a standard Apple 400K drive for a few weeks now. It works fine for reading files created on a Mac, but when I try writing files, the IIcx in the next room claims the disk isn't formatted. More than likely this is because the 400K drive is out of alignment, and not due to a problem with the Mac-2-Dos package itself. Suggested retail is $99. I am not affiliated with Central Coast Software in any way except as a satisfied customer. --M -- __ \/ Michael Portuesi Silicon Graphics Computer Systems, Inc. portuesi@SGI.COM "The best length for television programs is either 30 seconds or 8 hours."
