I have an AST 386/20 (model 340), and I know someone else who has one
also. They recently received from AST a 16450 chip in the mail, with a
packing slip saying only "serial port upgrade # xxyyy" or something
like that, and no installation instructions, and no explanation of what
it is for.

Since I have recently been having a problem with my AST locking up in a
situation that involves modem communications, I was wondering if any
other AST owners have seen this "upgrade" kit, and if it solves any
problems (My application does not lock up on a laptop ).

Thanks for any info.
