I think the instructor should think up a project that has to be done by a groups
of 5 people each. Let them think up there own standard using guidelines set up
by the instructor.  If the standard isn't followed consistently throughout the 
whole 'project' then take off 1/3rd. The you'll see what the fuss about having
a 'standard' is about.
