In the past there has been talk about older UNIX code which
expected to be able to successfully dereference NULL pointers. I'm
involved in a port of SysVr1 UNIX and have so far found one such
instance in the source for "cat". I'm presently hunting for a pointer
problem in the Bourne shell and got to wondering if it could be a
similar situation but masked by much more complicated code. Does anyone
have a list of, or know of, code in any SysVr1 utility which wants to
dereference NULL?

Thanks in advance. Please send mail, I'll summarize if there is interest.
