I checked out Omnipage 386 recently wan was very impressed. I scanned a
page from a manual (STFM) and it was 100% accurate. I had less wonderful
results from my nasty test where I scanned from a magazine which had a
screen behind the letters. Even that did better than I expected. It did
not like dot-matrix however. I understand there is some new software
coming out called (I think) ReadRight2 which is supposed to handle dot
matrix as well. One thing that impressed me about omnipage was the way
it looked at a page of columnated text and figured out the order of the
text automatically. It was correct in its assumptions.
Omnipage could output to many formats including WordPerfect 5.0 and it
automatically included bolding, italics etc. Very nice.
