Well, I have to apologize.  You were right.  This morning I took another
look at my 12", and it turns out to be the British release, not the 
Canadian.  It didn't have an import sticker on it, which is why I thought
it was Canadian.  In any case this explains why I only found one copy
in all my record-store searching.  Sorry about this.
