I would like to add two compression schemes to 8SVX files. They would be a simple Huffman coding and a delta Huffman coding. What is required to have these adopted or listed in the IFF spec? (or is something similar already there) The only documentation I have is the RKM which lists the fib compression and hints of better things to come. I would also welcome ideas as to how to store the tree or table holds the compression codes. I am thinking it might require two hunks. One would be the BODY chunk and the other would be a TREE? chunk. What I would like to do is get compression codes assigned to put in the 8SVX chunk and define a new type of chunk, tentatively called TREE. I would then write an article with code showing how to encode/decode these chunks and present sample code to accomplish this. I would appreciate information on the proper channels to contact and ask that FLAMES and useless comments get replied instead of followed. If I get useful information I will summarize. _____________________________________________________________________________ Jerry J. Trantow | When wealth is lost, 1560 A.
