If the shuttles can be flown faster than they currently are, why isn't NASA doing it? At the current flight rates the shuttle is prohibitively expensive, much worse than expendables. It's an old trick to say that the shuttle is really as cheap as expendables, by assuming faster flight rates. But the last time NASA tried to launch that fast they screwed up fatally. Paul F.
