Adobe.com is NOT a directly connected Internet host. 
It is served by a mail exchanger "decwrl.dec.com".
It is therefore NOT accessable via FTP or TELNET.

However, if you are having trouble exchanging mail with adobe.com it is 
because you mailer is not capable of, or having trouble, dealing with the
name resolver.
