I am looking for some people who have NeXT machines acting as file
servers to find out how much of a burden it puts on the machine. We are
currently considering whether to put a local disk on each NeXT, set up one
NeXT as a file server, or purchase disk space from a SPARCstation file
server.

Can you let me know the following information at your convenience:
1) What disk/memory configuration do you have on your server.
2) How many clients does it server (Are any of these clients across a
bridge? If so, how much does it affect performance?)
3) Are the clients heavy disk access users?
4) What is the relative performance of the file server machine functioning
as a user machine or is it dedicated.

We are also considering putting a QUANTUM PS40 disk in the networked machines
for swap space so that we wouldn't be swapping over the network. Does anyone
have any experience with this?

I will summarize the results that I get and my experiences when I get a
little further along.

PS - Thanks in advance
