No one at Metaphor decided it was too hard; no one even thought it particularly hard at all. It was just another piece of hte project... Now, that was 5 years ago; in this day-and-age, we'd prefer not to have to provide this piece of the puzzle again. SQL parsing on the server is much more convenient...
