The kernal loads, the rf configures, and the disk suddenly speeds up as the rf driver starts to do its thing rather than the xy driver. It seems that the Ciprico emulation is COMPLETE in that it not only allows one to call the thing an "xy" all the way through running multi- user, the emulation also slows the disk down to where it would be with a real xy451.
