R&D, Schenectady, NY Lines: 27 One other item of interest that I picked up from one of the articles on the font wars; a representative from Linotype AG announced that his company would support all three major formats, and said, "We are producing 30 new typefaces a month now, and have licensed a full set ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ of fonts to Apple's System 7.". ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This implies to me that when Apple ships System 7, we'll be getting more than just a minimal sets of fonts (i.e. more than just Times, Helvetica, Symbol, Courier). Of course, I suppose there's a lot of room for argument as to what constitutes a "full set". Also, I wonder what will become of all of those old Apple bitmap fonts that we have come to know and love (i.e. Geneva, Los Angeles, Cairo, New York, London, etc.) At the Mac Expo, an Apple engineer demonstrating the outline font software showed an outline version of San Francisco that he had done, basically just for laughs. I wonder if the others will get converted as well. Can anyone from Apple shed any light on exactly what fonts we can expect to be included with System 7 (or at least how many)? ---- Mark Vita vita@crd.ge.com General Electric CRD ..!uunet!crd.ge.com!vita Schenectady, NY
