Just some friendly advice:

Any board ("newsgroup") with a prefix of internet or netnews (such as
"internet.love-hounds", the one you posted to) is distributed across
the nation, sometimes the world.  

Sending things around the world, in public, using other people's
resources, just to ask someone who is also at Carnegie-Mellon
something that is of interest only to people in Pittsburgh is not
wise, and will undoubtedly piss some people off.

I suggest you log on to andrew and type "help arpanet" and read the
protocols again...
