Recently I noticed in some Digital Research source assembly for the 80286 

  PUSHF
  ...
  CALL mypop ;get round 286 POPF problem
  ...

mypop: IRET

Where the CALL mypop achives what a (correctly functioning) POPF would.
What is the problem? When does it occur? You may well have been over this
before (sorry - new to this group) email me if this is so.
