I've been thinking lately about getting a DeskWriter for my Mac SE - I like the print quality, and I'd like to have a system that works great unto itself (e.g. it's annoying having to go print on a laser printer somewhere else). BUT as I find myself still in "waste tree" mode (though trying to print as little intermediate stuff as possible), the one thing that bugs me about the DeskWriter is the concept of running out of ink all the time. Someone just posted an article claiming that the cartridge lasted 500 pages - if this is accurate, then everything's fine. But for garbage output, I'd rather dump it to the ImageWriter II (in plain old text mode - where I think this 9-pin really shines...) Is there a serial box-type connector that lets you switch between two Mac serial protectors? (Like A-B switch boxes that sometimes connect a terminal to more than one modem...) On a related note: *does* the DW hook into the Mac via the serial port, or is the box request a moot issue? Please email responses. Thanks. Roger Espinosa rre@ihlpn.ATT.COM or ...!att!ihlpn!rre
