If you're really interested in using raw Xlib, rather than a higher
level X programming environment such as DECwindows or OSF Motif, I
would strongly recommend that you start with one of the many tutorial
books on Xlib.  My favorite is *Introduction to the X Window System* by
Oliver Jones (published by Prentice-Hall).
