This is my first posting, so ...
  
I am presently engaged in research (as a grad student) which will
involve image processing.  With the capabilities of the ST which I 
own, I am looking into porting a program from the realm of the 
PC's and clones.  My problem arises when I want (need !!!) more 
than sixteen colors to display the images in.  
  
I have heard that displaying 512 colors is a fairly straight-forward
piece of programming involving interrupting the raster scans of 
each line to change the pallete.  Unfortunately, I have only limited
programming experience.  Surely someone out there can provide me
with the source code (or interrupt calls in C) to accomplish this 
task.  Also, I am not clear what resolution this would be working at
and would need this as well.  Spectrum 512 software* would be fine (or
Quantum Paintbox with 4096 colors) would be great if only I could 
use the palletes for my program.  
  
Please, anyone, e-mail me a way to do this or where I can get software
that is PD/SW/comm to do this, my research and dissertation would be 
eternally grateful.  

* I am not affiliated in any way with these fine products, except as
someone who has seen these programs in action for a short time. 


P.S. From what I hear, the Elmtech board would be perfect except for the $$
