I recently acquired a CompuAdd Turbo PC (10 MHz 8088 - a sweepstakes
prize) and added a miniscribe 30 MB HD to it. Minix comes up on the
floppy, no problem, but when I check the HD partition, I get a "bad
magic number' in the superblock. Huh? The controller is a WD1004-27X.
The disk works fine under MS-DOS 4.0, and the larger partition is all
DOS. I have a 6 Mb partition set aside for Minix, since it is virtually
unusable (only virtually) with only one floppy. I have not followed
this group very closely, other than a few dumb questions about Tandy
machines, since my other machine is MS-DOS but not PC-DOS compatible,
and I never expected to have a "PC". So what is this magic number,
and what do I do about it?
Tnx

Marc
