Since Rahul has a good reputation for being able to write portable software, I think it would be good to wait and see this, as opposed to having a number of standards. Since Rich has expressed dislike for it I suspect that the source I submitted in March is not going to be posted, along with all the subsequent stuff I packaged with it.
