Subject: AC mains "glitches" creates awful noises on stereo

I'm having trouble with AC mains glitches (spikes) coming from our
refridgerator: They seeks their way into my $6000 stereo and make
a high, really disturbing noise. Sometimes when we have visitor and
the stereo is on, they jump when they hear the "glitch" from the
speakers.

I have tried connecting a VDR in paralell with a 100 nF capacistor
across the AC mains (220 V). The VDR was rated 250 V and K14. But
that didn't help.

Can anyone help me on this matter?
