Two things...

1. Are you using a hard drive? If so, are you copying the system-configuration
   file to the DEVS directory on the boot disk? If not, it is only being
   changed in the assigned DEVS: directory.
  
2. Try moving the screne position a little to the left. This is a well known
   phenomenon that I first saw on 'MindWalker' sometime in '86.
