Net,

In light of the recent interest in SE/30 external monitors, I would like
to make the following recommendation. I recently purchased a 2-page monochrome
monitor called the MagicView 19. It retails for (you won't believe this price)
$995 from MacProducts. That is both monitor and card. I purchased another one
for a Mac II because I liked it so much. The screen is 1024x768 pixels, has a
refresh rate of 78Hz, and is very readable even on the edges.

While I was searching for the monitor, I also looked at Radius and
SuperMac Technologies. Their monochrome monitors are simply overpriced
although their displays are quite good. I also purchased a Taxan CrystalVue 19
monitor with a 30-day money back guarantee from MacZone. Thank God I have the
money back guarantee. About 2 weeks after I bought it, the edges became much
less readable and "ghosts" started developing near windows on gray desktops. I
am about to send it back and buy another MagicView. (The Taxan costs $400
more.)

The people at MacProducts are friendly and are willing to ship the monitor
2-day air for ~$35. If you are in the market for an SE/30 external monochrome
monitor, I highly recommend the MagicView. It's cheaper than most 1 page
displays.
