However, this leads to a big symbol table, and MPW C gets annoyed with you if you are running vanilla MPW 3.0. There's this little note on pages 349 & 350 of the MPW 3.0 environment manual (in Chapter 12: "Writing an MPW Tool") that describes how to increase the amount of stack space that the shell reserves for tools. The default is 20K. I increased mine to 128K, and suddenly all sorts of things became much less bomb-prone... This is not to say that MPW C 3.0 is reliable, though.
