Actually, the Extended keyboard was designed to be as similar to what
MS-DOS machines commonly use.  At the time, it was thought that there would
be a large market for 80286 cards.

I'd recommend the Apple Standard Keyboard.  Function keys?  How about
Command-1, 2, 3, etc.?
