I am primarily posting this to comp.sys.atari.8bit, but perhaps
someone at Atari Corp who reads ...atari.st might help.

Probably being one of the last DOS 3 users in the Western World
(not counting all the 8bits shipped to Poland (heh)) I have wanted
to know the file structure, etc. of DOS 3. DOS 2 has been widely
documented, but I have found nothing on DOS 3. The only technical
information I have about DOS 3 is that the directory is on the
first sectors (rather than in the middle of the disk- DOS 2) and
that DOS 3 stores files in 8 sector groups called blocks (1024k).

Is there (Are there) any technical notes or source documentation or
anything on DOS 3? Who wrote DOS 3? Was it in house Atari, or was
it an OSS effort?

Please, no flames. I mainly use my Mega 4, I don't want to buy
another DOS (read: from ICD), all my 8 bit files are DOS 3 (I tried
DOS 2.5 but went back to DOS 3). I would like to have some
background information on how DOS 3 works. (Bugs? What bugs? I
certainly haven't found any bugs... ANd no one complains that
GEMDOS (ST) uses 512k blocks...)
