You asked for something, and they said that they would provide it for you, but you said, "Not good enough! I want it to have been designed that way from the beginning." I do not think that DC Software has ignored a large portion of the RS-232 market, as you claim. I have no idea how much it would have cost them to have designed their board your way from the beginning, but they chose not to because (in part, at least) they felt that their current design would cover the majority of the market. As far as accepting imperfect products, I don't think that is applicable in this case.
