It is very good at the coloring/shading end, average in specifying geometric attributes, and barely addresses the issue of graphic object organization. The specificiation is low-level, but fairly complete. That means RenderMan programs will require a fairly large number of subroutine calls will accompanying increased probability of bugs until more abstract front ends are constructed. Perhaps NeXT is designing such in NeXTStep now.
