Subject: What does the Block Gap field in mkfs mean?

I recently upgraded to a disk controller that supports 1:1 interleave.

Should the "rotational block gap" parameter of mkfs be adjusted
accordingly?

Is there any correlation between the two?

What does that field do, anyway?

Thanks in advance,

John
