By the way, after talking to another dealer in Columbus, Ohio... I bought one. I also found out that my original dealer was wrong, the LQ has 27 pins, not 24 pins as I put out on the net... As I said before, the guy must be more interested in selling those IBM clones than his Apple stuff. The output you get from the Apple IIgs Print Manager will be the same as ImageWriter II quality. There may be 3rd-party products that take advantage of LQ quality if you have one, but I don't know of any right offhand. The plain text output will be LQ-quality, though--if you're planning to use AppleWorks CLASSIC (the text-based one), an LQ is an advantage over an ImageWriter II. There isn't a Real driver on System Software 4.0 or 5.0, but there are separate drivers, at least for using the LQ over an AppleTalk network: the LQ responds to a different name when the driver tries to find the printer, but the drivers are almost identical. * - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * Date: Wed, 16-Aug-89 11:59:13 PDT X-Origin: The Portal System (TM) X-Possible-Reply-Path: Orion@cup.portal.com X-Possible-Reply-Path: sun!portal!cup.portal.com!Orion Hi, your apple IIGS or II(x) can use any printer it wants!! as long as your computer has the right interface (ie parallel or serial) and the right software.. On my printer, if I need to set up 2quality mode I just send a set of esc and char sequence!! so go out and get that printer!!! it should be a lot cheaper than that apple printer Cheers,
