Over the past several weeks I have attempted to send three separate
articles to the newsgroup rec.guns. None of the articles has appeared.
When I post an article, I get a message that informs me that rec.guns
is a moderated newsgroup and that my post has been sent to the
moderator, JKH@ucbvax.berkeley.edu. I have attempted to send E-mail to
the moderator requesting an explanation or further information and
instructions, but I haven't received any replies. I'm not sure what to
try next. None of the articles were really very important, but I'm
puzzled as to why I'm not able to get one included in the group.

I have minimal netnews experience, but I have posted successfully to a
couple of other groups (comp.sys.mac, rec. movies, rec.arts.startrek,
and rec.arts.tv, to name a few). This is the first time I've tried
posting to a moderated group. It occurs to me that rec.guns may have
some sort of special restrictions, considering all the laws that apply
to that topic, but unless I can communicate with the moderator, how do
I find out what restrictions apply?

My first post was to have been a shooting report on a .22 caliber
target pistol. The second was an observation on the apparent
unwillingness of gunshops to assist customers in finding particular
items if they don't happen to have them in stock on their shelves, and
the final post would have been a question regarding state and federal
pistol permits and regulations. These topics may not seem particularly
interesting to you, but I mention them to demonstrate that they all
seem (to me, at least!) to be appropriate items for discussion on the
newsgroup rec.guns.

Any advice would be appreciated!
