I am attempting to upgrade a SF354 disk drive to a double sided drive
by replacing the mechanism with an NEC FD1035 drive. I thought that the
procedure would be simple until I saw that the connectors on the two
drive mechanisms are not the same. The SF354 has a 14-pin single-row
connector while the NEC has a 34-pin two-row connector. I have read that
this upgrade is a simple matter.
Could it be that my SF354 is a different version?

Has anyone attempted the same feat successfully. If so, I would
appreciate hearing how you did it.
