This same drive worked fine on an XT, but here the performance is noticeably "sluggish". Getting a directory takes about 2 sec to get the volume label, 2 sec to get the directory name, 1 sec to list the files, and 2 sec to list the bytes free. The same operation on the XT might take 3-4 secs altogether. Copying a file takes about 5 sec, compared to 2 or 3 on an XT. I have a techie friend who's said he's seen very similar behavior in all AT's he's installed 3.5" drives on (perhaps 6 or 7 altogether). There are nor retries, data or seek errors, or any trouble with data integrity. What gives? -- O----------------------------------------------------------------------> | Cliff Joslyn, Cybernetician at Large | Systems Science, SUNY Binghamton, cjoslyn@bingvaxu.cc.binghamton.edu V All the world is biscuit shaped. . .
