What I take it that you are tring to do is to be able to print with both prf and lpr. Does the prf work? If prf will not work, then you do not stand much of a chance of getting lpr to work. I take it the printcap looks like: lp|line printer:\ :pc=/com/prf -banner off -text -npag -headers off:lp=/dev/null:\ :sd=/usr/spool/lpd/lp:if=/usr/lib/lpf:\ :af=/usr/adm/lpacct:lf=/usr/adm/lpd-errs: This should send unix prints to the aegis printing system. > If the other nodes on the ring have a spool directory with a file > 'servername' specifying the printing node any print requests are > queued but the warning 'no daemons present' is returned. I do not understand this part. It looks as if you are attempting two different methods of printing. If you are going to run lpd on each node, then you should not attempt to set the 'servername' file. If you are going to run lpd in the pure unix way, all lpd's on machines which are not directly connected to the printer should use the 'rm' specification of the printcap file to tell lpd to send the job to the machine with the printer. -- UUCP: uunet!hi-csc!apcimsp!tim ARPA: tim@apollo.com Contents of this message has nothing to do with work.
