I am having some trouble with the following configuration:
Amiga 2000 (1.3 rom, 1 meg 2 floppies, GOMF button)
  Hardframe + ST296N

I can do a low-level format of the drive (HDFormat?) just fine, then I can
run RDPrep to set up partitions and the like again with no problems.
I use the following number to give me as close to the full 165851 blocks on the
drive as possible. (anyone else got better numbers?)
# of heads: 7 # of blocks per track: 24 # of cylinders: 987
  ( 7 * 24 * 987 = 165816)

I have used the following info for RDPrep:
FileSystem L:FastFileSystem (other filesystem stuff are the defaults)
 Partition 1 Name DH0 Start Cyl 1 End Cyl 184 (15meg) Boot Priority 3
 Partition 2 Name DH1 Start Cyl 185 End Cyl 677 (40meg) Boot Priority 2
 Partition 3 Name DH2 Start Cyl 678 End Cyl 924 (20meg) Boot Priority 1
 Partition 4 Name DH3 Start Cyl 925 End Cyl 987 (5meg) Boot Priority 0
(DH0 is system commands, etc.. DH1 is work area DH2 is games area and
  DH3 is temp storage/scratch area)

BUT then when I reboot the machine the HardFrame docs say that the newly
created partitions should be 'automounted'. I then try to actually format
the partitions: 'format drive dh0: name System_Drive quick ffs', all
I get back is 'Drive not found'. Info also shows no DH? drive at all..

I have tried to self-test on the Seagate drive and it passes it just fine.
(What?? You've never heard that ALL Seagate drives have a built in self
check mode?? I'll give more info on that in a later message) Therefore
it can't be the drive. I called MicroBotics and the guy there does not
think it sounds like a controller problem either. (ie both the low level
format and the RDprep semm to work just fine, they don't complain at all.
Anyone have any ideas?

    Trev
