Lines: 28 I would like to get some ideas of how people automactically update a version number with their programs. I would like something where every time I type "make" I will get a different version number. And, when I decide to release it, I could set the version number to some different, but the iterative process would still build from it. For example, the first time I type "make" the version number might be 0.00.1, the next time 0.00.2, then I release it and decide to set it to 0.01. Now the next "make" would be 0.01.01, and so on, and so on... I am sure I could come up with something, but I am wondering would other people have done. Thanks, Keith P.S. If I get a lot of interesting responses I will posted a summary, otherwise, I will not waste the net's bandwidth. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Keith Cantrell Phones: hm: 214-492-1088 wk: 214-519-2399 @ DSC USMAIL: EMAIL: 2100 Sonata Ln cantrell@attctc.DALLAS.TX.US Carrollton TX 75007 or ...!attctc!digi!kcantrel -----------------------------------------------------------------------
