Apparently the >extra weight hanging out there makes the paper move better. > Yes, if you check carefully, I think you will find that the problem occurs every other page. It seems to be caused by the folds on the fanfold paper. When the folds at the start of the page are away from the platen, it squishes the line; when it is towards the platen, it doesn't.
