Olivetti PC1 / Supermouse won't work ! Keywords: Nec V40, Supermouse, Olivetti Prodest PC1 Message-ID: <961@tnoibbc.UUCP> Date: 5 Dec 88 09:56:54 GMT Lines: 22 My brother owns an Olivetti Prodest PC1 computer and lately bought a Z-NIX Supermouse with it. Whatever he tries, the mouse won't work. The mouse software complains about the serial port not being there (although there *is* a serial port). It seems that the cause lies in the fact that the serial port is integrated into the microprocessor, a NEC V40 (8 MHz). Somebody told me there is no 8250 i/o chip in the PC1. BTW: there is also a special version of KERMIT for the Olivetti PC1, this also points into that direction. Olivetti couldn't offer any help. Questions: - is the assumption about the 8250/V40 correct ? - what can we do about it ? - or: did some kind soul write a mouse driver for this configuration ?
