The sequences are along the lines of "carriage-return without linefeed;
pad with blanks" and are there to cause certain words such as "ProComm"
to be overstruck on lineprinters that can do this sort of overtyping
but don't have a boldface font (e.g., generic dot-matrix printers).

Print it on a dot-matrix printer (my Epson RX-80 worked fine), or edit
the excess stuff out (a pain, but do-able).
