No, they really are not.  There are at least 3 versions that I know
of in the $200-400 range (BigMouth, Watson, and Complete Answering
Machine) including the voice mail software.  Some come with libraries
for roll-your-own work.

Here is another case where we need a dumb bridge board that would
simply let the 68000 have access to the PC bus so we could plug
some of these cards in and write the software to use them.  (I think
Chuck McManis argued for such a board a few months ago.)
