You might save some time if you use an Adaptec (7040?? -- I don't
think that's quite the right number...) SCSI --> ST506 controller.
(Several places that advertise in Computer Shopper have it listed.)
That's assuming you actually go ahead with the C128 --> SCSI end of
it.  If you do, maybe there's a market, at least as a construction
article for some magazine.  Good luck (you just may need it! :-).
