A suggestion: The book "C Database Programming" by Al Stevens. Describes and implements a simple ISAM in C. I also has a data dictionary generator. If you don't have time to type in all the source, a disk is available from the publisher with all the code on it. The book was written with an eye towards PC's, but the code is pretty generic code (the author claims the code will run with about a dozen different PC compilers) I don't think this one implements record locking. However, it is worth the checkout. John H.
