I'll be getting LightSpeed Pascal (not sure which version yet, hopefully 2.0), MPW (again, not sure what version) and Turbo Pascal for the purpose of writing a product review/comparison for an upcoming issue of "Computer Language" magazine (put out by Miller-Freeman in San Francisco). To aid in my evaluation of the different environments, I would be most appreciative and delighted if anyone out there can send me some benchmark programs (eg. "the sieve", "drystones", &c.). I would also be interested in a couple of reasonably large, multi-file software packages that use the Toolkit extensively. If they turn out to be fun games, well, that'd be okay. ;-) Oh yeah! One other thing: Anyone who has anything interesting to say about any of the three Pascal software development environments (after all, I would hope they're more than just compilers!!) feel free to send your comments to me, though I will be more enthused about positive comments than flames on a specific product. As always with my articles, this will have an acknowledgements section -- just think: you could have your name in LIGHTS! :-) [well, not lights, per se -- printed media aren't quite up to that challenge yet -- but at least in print!] Thanks! -- Dave Taylor Intuitive Systems 816 Amber Lane / Los Altos CA / 94022 guest of Hewlett-Packard Laboratories: taylor@hplabs.hp.com
