I think the flame was uncalled-for. The header said how to decode the files: unshar, uudecode, and uncompress (see lines 22 etc.). uudecode and uncompress are available at UIUC machines (at least on uxa). You may not have unshar, but it later says how to unshar the file. (See lines 33 etc.; delete lines to the cut line, and feed the rest of the file to sh via "sh file" or "sh < file" or "chmod u+x file; file".) The reason for doing all this was explained in the note: uncompressed, the files are some 115K, but sent this way they are just 33K. Mr. McDonald: please retry the instructions. If you prefer not, or if you have further difficulties: I have unpacked the two files on uicsrd. To fetch them from here, type ftp uicsrd.csrd.uiuc.edu When it asks for a login name, use "anonymous". When it asks for a password, use your ID (mcdonald@uxe.cso.uiuc.edu). cd public/dhry ls get bymanuf get byperf quit However, unpacking the files on your system would be faster. Please e-mail me if you have any difficulties -- I'll be glad to help. -- Tim, the Bizarre and Oddly-Dressed Enchanter Center for ||| Internet, BITNET: mcdaniel@uicsrd.csrd.uiuc.edu Supercomputing ||| UUCP: {uunet,convex,pur-ee}!uiucuxc!uicsrd!mcdaniel Research and ||| ARPANET: mcdaniel%uicsrd@uxc.cso.uiuc.edu Development, ||| CSNET: mcdaniel%uicsrd@uiuc.csnet U of Illinois ||| DECnet: GARCON::"mcdaniel@uicsrd.csrd.uiuc.edu"
