Here's a project I did as part of the AP Comp. Sci. course I took
in high school.

The goal of the project was to design and program the software to
maintain a banks checking/savings account database.  Each week, as
the class learned more Pascal, we were assigned a subsection of the 
program.  Some of the modules involved were a function to calculate
interest compounded quarterly, procedures to credit or debit a 
particular account, and a procedure to print out the monthly account
activity.

This project could easily be modified so that it would be simpler 
or more elaborate at your discression.
