% cat /.profile
PATH=/usr/local:/etc:/usr/etc:/usr/ucb:/usr/bin:/bin:.
export PATH TERM
trap exit 2 3 15
login root

Works for us pretty well.  You might want to remove the "." from the
PATH=, though.
