I've used a large number of operating systems, UNIX, VM/CMS, VMS, DOS, CP/m and so on. There is no reason to make something hard to use. The only suggestion for the select by... idea that is thinkable in a user friendly enviroment is the idea of changing the inactive open menu item to an open..., which would bring up a dialog box with the option of choosing text or type or something of that sort. The MAC cannot support a direct command line without making things very complicated! Jon These are only opinions...but their mine! -------
