The primary thing you want to do is switch your console to com1.
This is done with the ">ctty com1" command. This should be imbeded
in your autoexec.bat file along with some other important steps.
This guarantees that it will be redone if there is a power outage
at the remote site.

Your autoexec.bat file should contain the following:

1.)  a "mode "  command to set baud rate and parity on the com port;
2.) copy a file that contains the modem configuration strings from
     the disc to the com port.
3.) a password program that reads a password from the comport. There
	are a few nasties out there that dial phone numbers looking for
	auto answer modems. Wouldn't you like to have one of them
	controlling your telescope!
4.) the ctty com1 or ccty com2 command to move the console to the
	com port.

The last thing you should do in each of your connected sessions is to
run the password program so that the next access is protected by the
password also. You'll feel kind of sick if you dial your telescope some
day and the number is busy.
