UNIX doesn't understand an object oriented file ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I prefer to think of Apollo's file system as a "strongly typed" file system. If it were really object oriented, I would expect all objects in the file system to understand, say, the message "dl" rather than having to have a "dlt" for directory trees and a "dlf" for (most other kinds, but not all) files (and in SR9.x being able to create Unix files containing characters that Aegis had to escape with ":" prefixes, and that couldn't be "dl"-anything-ed but could sometimes be "rm"ed). It's just marketing hype to call Apollo's filesystem "o-o" rather than "strongly typed".
