Therefore, when compiling 18.?? GNUmacs, leave commented the line that says: /* Define HAVE_X_MENU if you want to use the X window menu system. This appears to work on some machines that support X and not on others. */ /* #define HAVE_X_MENU */ in the config.h file. You will not have the menus, but all other things will work fine (the patches for 18.52 for X11 are located on expo as contrib/ver-18.52.diff). My understanding is that the X support will be completely rewritten for version 19 and menus will appear again.
