Rather strange attitude from an instructor who has to deal with VMS?
Suppose you had to compile and run homework assignments for each student?

They do, that's why they're doing it. They're just using more hardware
than they need. Type "help spawn" sometime. You'll see they can do it
all from one terminal.

Multitasking is great, but *windowing* is the icing on the cake. Not only
can you do multiple things, but you can *see* them being done.
