I was recently flipping through last month's MacUser and I noticed a mail order
company advertising (I forget who) something along the line of:
"Our prices are Sooo low that CMS has requested that we do not print them,
      Call for pricing info."

Having recently bought a CMS MacStack 60 (through Hardware House) I was curious
to see how much I might have saved had I waited another month. 800 numbers are
free, so I called.

The guy quoted the highest price I had ever heard of (So much for the low price
claim, it was at least $900) and then said that the MacStack 60 was 'Real Bad
News.' He said that over 60% of them are returned for repair after 4 months.
Something about the power supply arcing and destroying the whole unit.

He then proceded (unsuccessfully) to try to sell me an Everex 40 Meg that
was "a steal at only $1300, I don't know why we're giving them away like this!"
(He must have been comparing it to the stuff on Apple's price list :-(

I'd like to know if anyone has heard of any problems with the CMS 60 Meg
External drive. I heard of a person who got shipped a bad one, but it was
replaced with a new one fairly quickly.

I'm convinced that this guy is a bozo, but sometimes a bozo gets lucky and
actually knows something. My drive has run like a trooper so far...

Mail any CMS 60 Meg hardware problems to me and I'll post to the net.
