As someone who's looking forward to using news.admin as a resource when
she sets up her own net site (meanwhile saving for that 130meg hard
disk of my dreams), may I make a suggestion?

Rather than go through the process of voting on and installing a
moderator, why not draft a monthly introduction posting that sets out
a few simple guidelines? I would suggest something along the lines of
John Haugh's article in misc.jobs.misc, which yours truly shamelessly
ripped off and adapted for use in soc.men, where it seems to work
pretty well.

If _that_ doesn't succeed in holding down the noise level, then let's
talk moderation.
