But many (most/all?) 2400 baud hayes-compatibles will not drop the line
before completing a call if you give a dialing command and then drop
DTR.  Also, after doing this, the modem has an error message that it
will store until DTR is on again, so the next attempt to dial is likely
to fail.  Do any modems handle this right?
