I am looking for a way to have UB NIUs (i.e. NIU-160's/180's) connect
directly into a vax that supports XNS instead of only being able to
connect to another NIU. The problem, as I see it, is that BSD 4.x
does not understand packet types of 4 (Packet Exchange) which is how
NIU's try to connect (well, at least the 1st way). Since no one
responds to the type 4 packets, the NIU's switch to packet type 8
(undefined in the XNS specs) to connect. The type 8 packets are
understood by other NIUs which respond and a connection is
established.

It would be sooooo nice if some code could be dropped into BSD 4.x
XNS code that understands NIU connection requests.

Thanks for any help.....
