This assumes each TCP peer randomizes its initial sequence number. However, if the clients keep bashing away, eventually they will hear a data packet without the expected SYN bit set and will send a reset. Eventually this succeeds and the connection comes bum. I don't understand how your SUn - VAX connection survived. Dave
