I recently made a deal which I now feel was unfair to me:

I traded my bank of 256K SIMM's (1 MB total) + $448 for 2 1-MB SIMM's.
The normal price for this guy's 2-MB upgrades were $848, and he
"credited" me $400 for my 4 256K's. Was I dumb in doing this, since
I could have gotten 2 1-MB DIP SIMM's (as opposed to the other
surface-mount ones) for $650.

Also, what is the difference between DIP and surface-mount SIMM's
? Any difference in performance/compatibility?
