Lines: 23 There seems always to be a lot of debate about RLL encoding working on low-cost Seagate drives (particularly the 225 and 251), but has anyone had any experience, good or bad, with RLL on one of these expensive Maxtor drives (mine is a 2190, but I would also be interested in people trying RLL on smaller models). I'm trying it out, but would appreciate hearing any negative experiences ASAP, in which case I will go back to my old controller. Meanwhile I do a surface scan every day (!), back up important work daily, and the complete system weekly. The controller is an adaptec ACB-2372, which I would guess is the same one that Northgate puts on all their systems (1-1 interleave, RLL). The 192 meg capacity (drives C through H) is great only if it works! Lets keep the RLL clutter down, respond direct if you can, and I will summarize if I get any requests. toma@tekgvs.TEK.COM !tektronix!tekgvs!toma Standard Disclaimers Apply
