Well, have you tried increasing the speed from 9600 to 19200?  I don't
know where I got the following PS code, but it changes the PS
printer (at least the Apple LaserWriter Plus) from 9600 baud to 19200.
Remember you will have to change the /etc/printcap entry to reflect
this speed change.
