Not when the free program doesn't come with a binary or printed
documentation, when the free program won't compile, and when the
free program gives cryptic errors on apollos and core dumps.

Yeah, sure, but the source won't compile, and it costs you more
programmer $$ to make it compile than it would cost you to buy
the unbuggy commercial product to begin with.
