I am writing a report and would like to reference GNU and GNU Emacs.
What is the best way to do this? (Reference the GNU Emacs manual??)
Is there a paper published somewhere where the GNU project and/or GNU
emacs is described?

(If there is some standard way to do this, telling the entire list
about it would probably be a good thing to do).

By the way, my March 1987 edition of the manual just says copyright 1985,
1986, Richard M. Stallman and does not give a publisher or mention the
Free Software Foundation.
