One (sunny) day after a kernel relink sar reported :'/unix not the running kernel'. After more relinking and a reboot i was convinced that /unix indeed was the running kernel. A look in the doc. for saxx informed me of a file (/tmp/sa.adrfl) named as address file. Renaming this and running sar again showed that this file was created if missing. Suddernley sar was running - once. Repeated hacking around showed that when sa.adrfl was removed su could run sar once. No one else. however if chmod +w sa.adrfl was done people seemed to be able tu use sar. This i thought until skulker removed the file. Anybody out there to put some light over this ? By the way, anyone that has written a better presentation ? I have seen monitor from hewlett-packard - that one (i think it is customer-support sw) is really good. It has all needed, even better than VMS/monitor. In real life Peter Hakanson VolvoData Sweden phone swed. 031 66 90 64 =========================================================================
