I assume that the originator of the question had something like the open dialog of QEdit in mind, which isn't the SFGetFile dialog. The standard File/Open... technique of Multifinder won't work. I didn't try, but you should be able to install a HIRARCHICAL menu that contains a menu item that calls up the standard SFGetFile dialog, then point your mstr resources to that menu. This should work and give you what you wanted, an open event. Joachim
