My port of MicroEMACS to the Mac (the posted copy) runs fine under
A/UX, as I found out recently. The pop-up menu even works (unlike
behavior under System 6.0). If I write out the file with newlines
instead of CRs, I can even create UNIX files with it directly, except
for the first 128 bytes. And it doesn't even use TERMCAP!

Look who's writing clean code now!

This text was typed in MicroEMACS 3.9e on a Mac II running
A/UX 1.0, and written out using newlines for line terminator.

MicroEMACS 3.9e is A/UX compatible, although what you do with
the file header, I don't know.

Boo!
