I draw several conclusions from what I had expected anyway.

1) The need to standardize on the front-end.  Not just the syntax
of the language in some near worthless (just kidding) document.
[I'm just tired of FORTRAN IV FORTRAN V FORTRAN VII, insert your
favorite name progression] [Sorry, I'm going through this again with
three new machines].  This will then necessitate a standardized
intermediate language for the code generator.  But the user need not
see this.
2) Okay, we should freeze the language and go on.  And I can
unsubscribe from this new group and wait for the next language...... ;-)
