I use an INIT called Backdrop, which has a companion DA that allows you to select any MacPaint file to open and use as the desktop WITHOUT REBOOTING!. The INIT itself doesn't keep the StartUpScreen around; rather, it selects a file at random from a folder named "Screens" in your System Folder and uses that. It has no problems with refreshing itself, and is compatible with ALL Macs (on the II/larger screens, your 512x342 pixel picture is centered on-screen...haven't tried it with larger pictures, but the DA allows you to set a "view" rectangle --the portion of a picture which will be used as the desktop.) Rather than be responsible for a lot of "me too!" posts, if you're interested, email me and I'll send it along (or post it to comp.binaries.mac if there's enough interest). >-Ted -ken ========== ==================================== ....... =========== Ken McLeod UUCP: {crash uunet}!pnet06!thecloud :. .: "Kenneth, ---------- ARPA: crash!pnet06!thecloud@nosc.mil :::.. ..::: what is the thecloud@pnet06.cts.com | thecloud@dhw68k.cts.com //// frequency?"
