I'm not sure you can get a really pure ascii file from wp.  They do have a
program editor (It's in their LIBRARY program) that can do it.  Or there are
several public domain editors that handle ascii better--qedit for one.
Also a commercial program called WatchWord (about $100) does real well with
ascii and hex characters.
