Subject: Failed freopen in inews (corrupted filename)

First: I'm running B news, 2.11, patchlevel 14.

Sometimes I get the following output from inews:

  freopen(8808...c49/88): Not a directory
rnews failed, status 256. Batch saved in /usr/spool/news/8808..c49/88

(The .. are just a shorthand for a number of digits.)
Looking in the code I discovered that the freopen in inews.c is the only
candidate for the error.
It seems that the temporary filename is corrupted, so that is '/88' is
appended to it. Then, of course, all the actions concerning this file
fail (there is also no batch saved in that file, because the directory
does not exist).

Is there anyone having the same problems (it only occurs occasionally here!)?
If yes, did anyone succeed in solving the problem?
