Look into the Portable Standard Lisp effort at University of Utah. This was one of their areas of effort, a LAP (Lisp Assembly Program, psuedo-asm generated by the compiler) which would be highly portable, allowing porting of the compiler and bootstrapping of the entire system. -Barry Shein, ||Encore||
