                    *CLARIS*BUYS SOFTWARE FIRM

*Claris*Corp., a software subsidiary of Apple Computer Inc.
of Cupertino, said Monday it has purchased a Houston firm that
makes software for the Apple II family of personal computers.
Terms of the deal for 2-year-old Styleware Inc. were not
disclosed. John Zeisler,*Claris'*vice president of marketing,
said the acquisition -- which is the company's first -- gives
*Claris*two strong product offerings in a market where it has
done little research and development. Styleware has sales of
several million dollars and sells popular word-processing and
 integrated software packages.
