I don't think we're going to get any more definitive answer than what we've
got; System 3.2 is the only system guaranteed to work on a 512E.

I guess the logic is as follows:  An Apple 512E has 512K of memory; it
therefore can't run newer software.  A 512E with >512K of memory has a 3rd
party something in it, so Apple forswears all responsibility for it; in their
eyes, it just does not exist.

That's the price we pay for not wanting to give Apple as many of our hard
earned $ as it wanted.
