Bob,  You are in luck.  A BSD implementation of TCP/IP should work just dandy
hooked up to no network at all in the physical sense.  All the code is written 
so that the source and destination processes can be on any machine including
the same machine.  You may have to fiddle with a config file to get it
to "loop back" properly, but it should all work.
