My name is Mark Fichten and I am a graduate student at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. My thesis advisor, Dr. Mike Zyda, told me about your net and I would like to 'join'. I am very involved with the IRIS graphics workstations from the 3120 up to the 4D/70GT. My thesis research is on the FOGM system that you may have heard of from Dr. Zyda. It is a moving vehicle simulator that uses a terrain database from Fort Hunter Liggot, California. It is working very well right now on the 4D/70G and is is 99% ported to the GT. I have one very big gripe with the GT. The winattach() command is no longer part of the software. Wherever the mouse is determines the active window. In order to override this, the user must hold down any key on the keyboard. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! I am unable to 'detach' the user from my process and allow him to attach himself to another process arbitrarily since he may move the mouse over other windows accidentely! Is there any way to 'turn off' this PROBLEM???? Help!! Mark Fichten fichten@nps-cs.arpa
