He mentioned a game called ZARCH which is available in the UK and runs on the ACORN ARCHIMEDIES RISC-CPU "I can make the coffee too" COMPUTER. Read on..] Gamers who read reviews avidly will no doubt be aware of the existence of a game for the ST called VIRUS. The game features a 3D unfolding landscape, chase baddies all over the place and zap them scenario and is similar, though not identical to ZARCH on the Acorn Archimedies (spelling?). You will not be surprised to learn that VIRUS is a port of ZARCH onto the ST. As far as I know the game has only this month hit the shelves and may not be available outside of the UK yet. (I expect to be corrected on this last point, so don't bother :-)) A similar sort of game, 3D scrolling, exists, at least in the academic community close to INMOS and the UK software houses that specialise in the OCCAM programming language. I think the origin of ZARCH and hence VIRUS lies in a well publicised series of test and demonstration programs that were designed to show off the TRANSPUTER chip's abilities. Has anyone looked to see if the writers of ZARCH, VIRUS and these demonstration programs have any association? Andrew.
