I too need such a program. In particular, I know the baud rate
and parity of data coming in on a COM line. Is there any way I
can read it and transfer it to a file, and provide some minimal
control (such as setting timeouts and maybe toggling DTR), from
a customizable software package, without my learning all about
BIOS calls and DOS interrupts? I'm a Turbo Pascal programmer
but NOT a DOS or ASM hacker!
(Alternatively, I would pay a consultant to do this package for
me. Any volunteers in the Silicon Valley area?)

P.S. This is a personal, not Hewlett Packard, project.
