Greetings!

I have a somewhat (to me) strange problem with
MPW Shell 1.0.2 and ResEdit 1.0.2:

When I double-click on them, the screen clears, their names
come up in the menu bar and a alert comes up saying something like:

        +--------------------------------------------------+
        ! !
!Application is in use or is broken: appl_name !
        ! !
        ! !
        ! !
        ! +--------+ !
        ! ! Finder ! !
        ! +--------+ !
        +--------------------------------------------------+

Where "appl_name" is {ResEdit,MPW Shell}. When I tried ResEdit 1.0D11 on
them, time for next alert: "Error opening a resource file [-50]".

Error number -50 : (according to IM) Listed under "File Manager Errors",
                   paramErr:Error in parameter list
Parameters don't specify an existing volume,
and there's no default volume (File Manager)
                            Bad positioning information (Disk Driver)
Bad drive number (Disk Initialization Package)

If they (MPW, ResEdit) are broken , ok that I understand, but what does
the "is in use" mean? Something to do with AppleTalk?

My suspicion is that something is amiss in the resource header...

Am I on the wrong track?

if ( so )
	where is the right one?

FEdit+ doesn't choke on either of them, is it possible to fix with FEdit+?

I'm very grateful for comments on this problem.
