Maybe the new chearper workstations like the NeXT which costs a fraction of
what a Pixar or Iris costs will solve some of these problems. I am an 
intermediate level CS student and I plan to use it. I understand that
some people form the Pixar group (Michael Hawley) are implementing similar 
technology at NeXT.
