There is an INIT from the Copy II Mac family that is called saves deletes and
it fixes your HD if it doesn't have tags (which most don't).  But, however, it
won't fix anything that was thrown away before you installed it.  I would try
to get the files back again with Mac Tools, you might be lucky and have tags
on you HD.  If not you might try Disk First Aid.  I have heard it is good, but
do not know its limitations.
