Perhaps its time that the various DBMS vendors used one of the yearly
symposiums on DBMSs to sit down and agree on an understandable benchmark that
everyone can handle and that has some meaning (you don't have to test
everything about a DBMS for the benchmark to have meaning).  Perhaps this test
could be broken up into subparts (user interface, 4GL processing, SQL
integrity vs. ANSI, relational capabilities vs. Codds rules, distributed
capabilities vs. Date's rules, performance per query type, thru-put, etc.)
