For example, the Telebit TrailBlazer Plus, with all its other smarts, does not support wait-for-answer (but allows a command buffer of up to 80 characters). If you're running out command buffer, try setting S8 (comma pause time) to a higher value, like 4 seconds instead of the standard 2.
