I realize I may be beating a dead horse, and that this discussion probably
doesn't belong on this bboard anymore, but...

While musical output from computer data may, or may not, be useful for
commercial purposes, it has already been used for creative purposes.  I don't
have the exact references, but at least twenty years ago (+/- 10) people were
turning siesmic data into music.  All kinds of stuff has been done before.
Doug Adams certainly didn't think of it first (I wouldn't even bet that he
thought of it independently).
