There is a program called Layout and it will allow you to change the spacing
of Icons (in both regular size and mini), will allow you to change the font
used and size, will allow you to set up the spacing between files when listed
by name, date, type, and so on, and will allow you to set the default window
size, type (Icon, name, date....) and location. It is a pretty good program
for what it does. And it also knows the defaut setting of the Finder so at
the click the mouse and a whir of the drive everything goes back to normal.

I can binhex it and put it up here if you want.
