I'm going to tell you all a little secret (shhh!).  All Macs are not created
equal.  Just as VW was able to improve the Beetle without changing its
appearance, Apple continues to make incremental hardware improvements at
the factory (As I'm sure most OEMs do).  Since both the clock chip and SCC
are pin-compatible, it is a simple matter to use these parts instead of the
older ones (and easier to track as well).  Since your Mac was manufactured
in 1986 after the Mac Plus introduction, it is very likely that you have
the newer SCC and clock chip (with extended parameter RAM).  So that's why
the sound manager works for you.  Enjoy!
