The ROMs are free, but you must pay labor to get them installed. I got the
new ROMs installed because there was a bug in the old ROMs that prevents
a Mac Plus, with a SCSI hard disk connected to it, from booting unless the hard
disk was powered up. I think the new ROMs fix some other things too, but I'm not
sure what. I believe the boot problem is what was considered serious enough to
warrent the upgrade being free.

The existence of this "free" ROM upgrade has not been widely publicized
and you will probably have to convince your dealer to dig around is his notes
till he finds it.
