Kickstart 1.3 makes it possibile to Autoboot from i/o devices that have the Autoboot circuitry on them (some ROMs mostly), the Commodore 2090 does not have this circuitry, it won't autoboot. This is similar to 1.2 adding autoconfig (whereas 1.1 didn't have it). Commodore has announced a 2090A controller that will autoboot, the 2090 can't. You can use your 2090 as a second hard disk controller, but it won't autoboot. You will need a 2090A for that or someone elses controller that has the autobooting circuitry on it. The driver for the recoverable RAM disk will autoboot after it has been loaded into memory the first time. The 2090 will never autoboot. So, KICKSTART 1.3 just gives you the possibility to autoboot. --Chuck McManis uucp: {anywhere}!sun!cmcmanis BIX: cmcmanis ARPAnet: cmcmanis@sun.com These opinions are my own and no one elses, but you knew that didn't you.
