OK, here's the scoop (I hope).  System 6.0, CMS SD-80 harddisk, and
the original Mac Plus form an incompatible triple.  It does not boot.
Your Mac Plus is involved if it was manufactured before about April 1987.
(Also 512K's that were enhanced before that date.)  To fix the problem,
you need to get the current Mac Plus ROMs.  It took a while for my Apple
dealer to even admit that such new ROMs exist.  There are two of them,
and they list for $100 dollars each.  I had my credit card out, and was
ready to fork over $200 dollars, when (guess what) the technician found
a page from Apple saying that it is a FREE UPGRADE.  The problems listed
on the sheet sent by Apple to their dealers (the reason for the new ROMs)
is just "problems with SCSI devices", or some such thing.
