As intro, we have several FastPath on a large multi-segment Ethernet.
We have installed AlisaTalk on a Vax, and it works, but ...

every so often (random intervals) the AlisaTalk Vax broadcasts a ZIP
query. This causes every FastPath to then broadcast both ARP and AARP
(we use Kinetics combined gateway, not KIP) in order to find out more
about the Vax (not being an expert in the protocols I do not understand
why they do not use the known address of the Vax).

Can anybody tell me what might cause these ZIP queries? The flurry of
broadcasts is not too serious, but if it ever became much more frequent
it might become so.

Thanks.

ps. If you feel I should be rather running KIP you are at liberty to
tell me why: I started with Kinetics gateway and it does more or less
what I want, i.e. EtherTalk/AppleTalk and IP routing.
