Actually, I thought they were quite cheap.  Of course, I am forced to
work on VMS systems most of the time:  a SPAWN command back when we had
11/780's was generally frowned upon as being wasteful of CPU, and user's
were only allowed a maximum of 1 process.  Nowdays, with the 8650,
a SPAWN only takes about 5 seconds :-)
