I've come across a minor, but not less bothersome bug in the Finder
(using Systemset 6.0, but probably present in all releases).

If I have a file on the top-level of my harddisk and throw it away
the 'in trash' bit gets set. Now if I move a file from a lower level
(that is: in some folder) to the top-level _with the same name_,,"|I'm asked
whether or not I want to replace the original. This I understand,
since only the 'in trash' bit is set, but all other file-information is
maintained.

The trouble starts when I do want to replace the original file.
The 'new' file inherits all the Finder-info stuff from the file thrown
away. So the Finder thinks it's planted in the trashcan as well! The next
major disk-action will actually delete the file!!

I don't know how probable it is that this situation occurs frequently
in day-to-day use, but it did in mine...
