The problem was simply that the shift key was electronically stuck down, and so the finder thought I wanted to shift-click, i.e. select/deselect more than one icon at a time. I am not sure, but your Caps Lock might do this as well if it is down (or stuck). To find out if it is the shift key, look at the key caps DA. If the shift key is lit, then it is stuck down, physically or electronically. Furthermore, if you try clicking another icon after you click the first and it highlights also, then the shift key is probably the culprit. By the way, has anyone had any problems with the ADB extended keyboard? My Mac ][ sometimes thinks the option key is held down, or the shift key is down. I think it is the keyboard screwing up, not the mac, since another keyboard worked fine... Hope this helps Rob Pfile src-1fd@bartleby.berkeley.edu (only until june 27!!)
