We upgraded our 500+ to 2 megs.  HP sells an upgrade board.  I believe it
lists for around $2495.  Our university price got it down to $1497777777.  If
you want to do full page 300 dpi graphics it is absolutely necessary.
The part number is 26054A.  I believe that 
there are also third party vendors that will provide upgrades.
