Your Subject: line referred to both Chinese and Japanese fonts.
For the latter, you could try contacting Sony Microsystems (I
do not unfortunately have their address handy, though if you
have trouble tracking them down you can send me mail) about
their Unix workstation (see Unix World Aug. 1987) which I have
seen running X-Windows with a JIS (level 2?) Kanji font.
