Such a beast does exist and it's Public Domain or Shareware.  You can find
in on a Pittsburgh BBS called Neverboard.  I forget the name right now,
but it is a pretty good program.  Neverboard's number is 412-243-5880.

I would post to comp.binaries.ibm.pc, but since it's become moderated,
virtually nothing has been posted.  So, what's the use?
