But you knew that, didn't you. I hear a subtle tongue in your cheek there, Chuck, but you should be careful what you say; there's a big difference between "dumping" and a "loss leader". Dumping specifically means that you are selling a product in one market for less than your cost, while selling it at more normal prices in another market. The "loss leader", selling at a price lower than your cost to attact customers to your other (profitable) products, is common practice in many (if not most) industries, including food retailing and startup high-tech. This whole thing has certainly gotten out of hand, and I have many flames for the way the Reagan administration has mis-handled it, but this is not the proper group... Even so, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that a new "windfall profits tax" is being imposed on memory makers who are "taking unfair advantage" of the sharply higher prices which have resulted from the "normal" supply & demand behavior of this "free open market". :-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-) -- Eric Black "Garbage in, Gospel out" Atherton Technology, 1333 Bordeaux Dr., Sunnyvale, CA, 94089 UUCP: {sun, decwrl, hpda, pyramid}!athertn!ericb Domainist: ericb@Atherton.COM
