Failing that I would be interested in any Postscript printer with at least one of duplex or ethernet. Of course I know how to get around the need for an ethernet interface by either using a bridge on Appletalk or a Unix ethernet host via rs232. I was hoping for a direct connection this next time around. I believe that Imagen has solutions of this type. However, the last time I checked it seemed that their lowest cost solution was about triple the cost of what one of the new highend Apple Laserwriters would cost us, with about the same speed. (This factors in a high academic discount from Apple). The cost factor seemed too high to justify duplex and ethernet. I know Diconix has duplex inkjet, but it has no network interface at all (just RS232 and parallel). I also know that Cannon has showed an inexpensive duplex engine, fairly comparable to the popular SX in speed and cost. This is relatively new and I haven't seen anyone announce a printer containing it. Can anyone can add any information on existing or upcoming Postscript printers with either duplex or ethernet? -- Ken Mandelberg | {decvax, sun!sunatl, gatech}!emory!km UUCP Emory University | km@emory BITNET Dept of Math and CS | km@emory.ARPA ARPA,CSNET Atlanta, GA 30322 | Phone: (404) 727-7963
