I've got the Opcode Timecode Machine working well enough under Bill Barton's midi.library that I can stripe tapes and read the time code off the tape to provide a time display with quarter-frame resolution on the Amiga. Unlike the Micro SMPTE interface, the Timecode Machine communicates with the Amiga entirely via MIDI. The Timecode Machine merges any data appearing on its MIDI input port with the MTC timing data it generates while reading tapes, so no MIDI functionality is lost in the process. Although my stuff is significantly more vaporous than Microillusion's, I thought I'd point out that there are some other hardware options by which Amiga SMPTE sync can be achieved. -- ..!{bellcore!tness1,uunet!nuchat}!sugar!karl, Unix BBS (713) 438-5018
