seriously, we should no longer accept software that has absurd limitations.

there is hope:  MM has been ported to a UNIX-environment at COLUMBIA and
is now in beta-testing.  contact MM-BUG@COLUMBIA.EDU ....

we have it running on BSD-machines here, SUNs and Sequents (that I know of) ...
