This is a general plea for information from someone who is
contemplating the use of TeX and LaTeX.

I've read the books, and I've purchased Turbo TeX for a PC, but
I can't see the relation between the TeX language and the fonts
available on H-P and Postscript printers.

Question: Am I able to select and use the hard and soft fonts
available from H-P, Adobe, etc.? If so, what is involved (in
thumb-nail form)?

Any elucidations welcome.
