Lines: 21 Approved: laser-lovers@brillig.umd.edu Summary: NEC LC-890 out in two weeks NEC will be release the LC-890 printer in a few weeks. The printer supports both the Postscript page descript language and the Hewlett Packard PCL command set (Laserjet+). The 300dpi printer will have 3Mbytes of RAM and operate at a rated 8ppm. The printer uses an LED array for imaging and an electrostatic process (similar to most all other laser printers) for affixing the toner to a page. The printer sports both a serial and parallel port as well as the Appletalk port. The price is around $4700 list. I hope to have a demo-unit in-house in two weeks and will summarize first impression to the net. If you are looking for a new postscript printer for light loads check out this new LED based printer. It also has a LCD display panel for checking printer status (three lights on the Laserwriter just don't cut the mustard!) David Geller Electric Logic, Inc.
