I boobooed. I deleted all files in SYS$SYSDEVICE:[SYSMAINT] and then
deleted the directory SYS$SYSDEVICE:[000000]SYSMAINT.DIR. Little did
I know, SYS$SYSDEVICE:[SYSMAINT] directory was a backup directory of
SYS$SYSROOT:[SYSMAINT] so all files in both directories were deleted
and the backup directory pointer is screwed up. This neat trick also
made booting standalone diags from the system disk impossible.

Q: How do I repair this (780 RM05 VMS V4.5)? I know about SET FILE/ENTER
and I should probably do a ANAL/DISK/REPAIR on the system disk (is this
   safe?). Anything else?

Send replies to me and I'll give the net the answer that works (rather
than clog info-vax more than it already is).
