Instead of reassigning the SYS$ANNOUNCE logical name to a string you could assign it to look to a file so the whole file is printed every time prior to USERNAME: . I think the proper command would be: $define/system sys$announce "sys$manager:@my_message.txt" where my_message.txt file contains all the thing you want and it can be as long as wish .
