Keywords: attractive and functional manual

"Look up a word" copy protection is less a evil of copy protecting a disk.

I believe the key in making "look up a word" copy protection less annoying
is to incorporate the keywords as a functional part of a manual. For,
example, in Facery Tale adventure the keywords are on the map, which is
an indepensible piece of docuement in playing the game. Because the user
has to fetch the docuement anyway when he/she uses the software, looking
up a word in a convenient place in the manual would not be a major hassle.

The point is, the software publisher should consider making the manual
as attractive and functional as possible so that the perceived value is
on the manual instead on the tiny floppy disk. I heard the practice of
a particular software company was giving software away for free, but
  selling the manual for profit.
