The Sony SL-HF1000 is the only VCR in the world that can do still frame
recording. However, this takes control of the VCR with the use of a computer
interface or some SONY box or TWO SL-HF1000 VCR's. I can not be done alone
.
For some silly reason, Sony is sitting on this. I get this question
everyday. This VCR has ALL the neccesary components to accomplish this task.
They are as follows:
	1) Frame Counter
	2) Pre-roll
	3) The "T" connector. This is the key.
	4) Master/Slave configuration.
	5) Flying erase heads. (Only needed for recorded over previously
	     recorded material). Ala most 8mm.

On the "T" connector:
	1) I don't know the full story on this, but in order to accomplish
what Sony claims, it has to at least supply SMPTE time code
information. This is imperative to locating SINGLE frames of
	   video.

	2) Pre-Roll
To do TRUE single frame, it is absoutly necessary to PRE-ROLL
You have to run the tape back, and then foward, with knowledge
of the frame you want to insert into to accomplish this task.
	3) You need some kind of control
I don't have one of these beasts. Wish I did! I could answer
	   all questions if I could!!!
	3) The reason the "T" connector is the key is what information
is exchanged. The VCR as a slave, is a robot.
	4) The SL-HF1000 does all of the above.

Nuff sa19)
