We've been having difficulty with repeated copies of the laser-lovers
messages going out. Most of these problems are due to a bug in our
mailer. Several work-arounds are being discussed and I hope that we
will be able to fix the problem soon. Please bear with us.

A few of the duplicates are caused by error on my part. It seems that
there are some sites running older versions of the Unix net news software.
This is causing multiple copies of messages posted at these sites to be
dumped in the laser-lovers incoming mailbox. Unfortunately some of
our more prolific correspondents are based at such out-of-date sites.
I hope that the affected sites will upgrade soon---if not, I guess I'll
just have to start contacting them about it directly!
