I have been using MINIX 1.1 for about a month now. I have noticed
that the hard disk driver seems very buggy (IBM 20 meg HD on an XT).
I won't bore you with all the details (I have not had USENET access
for the past several months, and details of problems just like mine
have probably been posted at least a dozen times), but in general
fsck always reports oodles of problems, even though the disk seems
to work okay. Sometimes MINIX stops in its tracks with a "winchester
task got -1 message" or something similar to that (don't remember
the exact words).

I am interested in bug fixes for this. I have read a few recent articles,
and it seems that MINIX 1.2 has been released. The diffs (along with
a patch program with which to use them) would probably be the best
"bug fix." I can have a friend get things off of arpanet with
ftp, and that would probably be better than mailing the diff files.
DON'T mail any large amounts of source code - just offer what you
have and I'll ask you to send it if I want it.

DON'T send mail to this account - it is temporary and will go away in
a week or so. Send to: tcb@lanl.gov or ihnp4!lanl!tcb
Mail is prefered over posting to this newsgroup, as my access
to readnews is limited.
