Thanks for the tip.  I don't think that is what is happening, however.
When it started happening, I created two folders on a floppy: one for
tested, working accessories and one for either untested or flaky ones.
I would then copy ONE of the untested .ACC files to the root and reboot,
getting the flashing screen.  (This with only one accessory in the root.)

Does the OS check ALL FOLDERS for .ACC files?
That would be a new one on me...
