I have access to an SE, and it's the quietest thing in the office. Each PC/XT has a distinctive fan sound, ranging from a mildly annoying hum to something that sounds as if it would feel more at home at O'Hare airport, on the runway. The PC/AT in the shop is noticeably louder than the SE. Admittedly, the SE is louder than the two Mac Pluses; but Apple is playing with the big boys now, and from the looks of it stands to do not so badly. Fans are a fact of life. Maybe SE fans do have the range of the XT's I mentioned, but judging by the one I'm typing this on, believe me, you _will_ get used to it. Now if only I could get used to the keyboard ... :-) -- Bitnet: lib.cb@uchicago.bitnet Internet: lib.cb@chip.uchicago.edu uucp: ..!ihnp4!gargoyle!sphinx!cjdb
