Anyone sees any use or redeeming value for the bogus news header line gnumacs
   generates?

I heard by entirely unofficial sources that the Posting-Front-End was
added to GNU Emacs' rnews package as a subtle advertising mechanism.
It's somewhat surprising how many articles show up these days with
that line in them. But by this time, the line has degenerated into
the same class as anti-NSA/line-eater food, and those inclined to
convert to using GNU Emacs have already done so. It should probably
go away.
