If you have a 64K machine, TIC will have a 14K copy buffer. The copy buffer is 47K if you have a 128K machine. If you have 128K but would rather keep your ram disk then pressing the open and closed (option) apple keys while TIC is booting will force TIC to run in the 64K mode. o A bug in automatic Binary II file unpacking is fixed allowing you to download Binary II files with subdirectory entries. o Line noise is less likely now to cause an early termination of an xmodem or ymodem download. o A rarely encountered bug that could result in an xmodem or ymodem download getting into an endless error loop has been fixed. o There is an expanded disk based help macro available to registered owners of TIC. o A bug in the manual setting of the printer initialization string in version 1.17 could result in a system crash if only a single ^ was entered as the init string. This is fixed in version 1.18. TIC version 1.17 ================ o TIC is better able to handle Binary II downloads of Binary II files that have garbage tacked onto the end of the file. Some info services have a problem of padding the end of a Binary II file with EOF (^Z) marks. This would cause TIC to abort a download of such a file in previous versions. o The status line update routine has been sped up some. o TIC is now better able to determine where its root directory is regardless of the prefix upon entry or the pathname used to start TIC from a program selector or the ProDOS default quit code. You need not set any special prefix prior to running TIC now. o You are now asked to confirm that you indend to QUIT the TIC program with the OA-Q command. o The control character token has been changed from "'" to "^" which is more inline with other programs that allow you to specify control characters. o There is now a OA-M command to let you manually set items that previously could only be set via command files. This means you can now change the modem slot, root directory, autosave location, autosave mode (append vs multi-file), echo (debug) mode, and so forth from the keyboard. Note that two lines, to set the driver and terminal are not yet supported but are a sign of things to come. o You can now test the value of a keyboard character pressed in response to a WAITFOR KEYBOARD command by using the IF KEYBOARD clause. This is documented more fully in the enclosed TIC.DOC file. o You can now use the IF FOUND clause as well as IF FAILED to test the result of a WAITFOR STRING statement. o The time-out limit for Xmodem and Ymodem uploads has been increased to make uploads go a bit faster on slower time-share systems. Don't forget that there is now a BBS support line for Carolina System Software products. The # is 803-776-3936 (300/1200 baud). This line is available 24 hours a day and is a free system.
