Mike,

Suggesting that Facc look for the data written by a format is one of
the most maxed out kludges I have ever heard. Why not simply look at
the incoming command? (As Facc already does).

You may say that a write and format are the same. Maybe even they
are implemented by the same code. But very simply, there is one com-
mand for write. And another for format.

I don't think my more detailed response (to Hans original posting)
ever got out of New Jersey (figures).

With the help of Carolyn Scheppner the cause of seemingly faster
verifications during formatting has been found. The verification is
NOT taking place from memory. Nope. Don't worry. But they ARE taking
place faster.

The verification IS actually running faster. Facc introduces a slight
pertebation in process priorities which allows the floppy driver to
get more undisturbed cycles. Normally this has no influence on the
other processes on the machine but formatting is the only time the
driver is asked to deliver 11K of data at once. The pertebation man-
ifests itself here (in a positive way).

P.S. FaccII programmer's manual is available at no charge to CBM
certified developers. Send a stamped self addressed envelope to us
(8.5 x 11 at least). This is prerelease information so you can get a
head start making your next application FaccII compatible.
