BACKUP/PHYSICAL will work fine in saving and restoring individual members
of a volume set. I have done this many times.  JUST make sure you do
NOTHING to the remaining members of the volume set while you have the
one member out of service.  You also should do an ANAL/DISK/REPAIR
on the volume set after the restore to make sure that bad blocks in
the failing member didn't corrupt its index file or bitmap.
