I am a friend of the person who converted the Surgeon from the Mac to the
Amiga; as such, let me try to answer some of your questions. Yes, the
Surgeon is fun to use. I have not know the Surgeon to crash, the person
who converted it was a good programmer who has owned and written programs
for the Amiga for about two years. The Surgeon probably works with expansion
memory, although it may not make use of it. Yes, the Surgeon was designed
as a simulator. The company that wrote the Surgeon is owned by a doctor.
The Surgeon simulates only one type of operation, although it seems to do
that one quite well. (Also saw RoboCop - loved it!)
