Hello!

I am posting this for my roommate.

Hi!

I need some information about a device about which I have heard but don't know
if exists...
I am looking for a way to step up +5 volts DC to +12 volts DC. A friend said
he would use a NS LM3578 switching regulator and a few other components...
but I had heard there was something relatively new like this but integrated...
Do any of you-all out there have any info on this {supposed} development?
I am working in a very tight space so the smallest package that will do the job
is necessary.

On another topic, I am looking for a replacement battery for an IBM-compatible
multi-function card. The battery needs to be 3.6 volts/550-600 milliamps..
the dead one is a "Varta" and looks like 3 nicads bonded together with a casing.
A friend said a "Yuassa" battery might work, but I have been unable to locate
either in the local electronics supply houses. Any info again would be most
helpful.

Thanks!
