After posting my comments (which were not critical of Wollongong in any case, since as we as I know, we had never reported this problem to them) I got a call from one of their folks, with some suggestions for short-term fixes, and assurances that the newest release (which we just got, but have not yet installed) will provide more permanent solutions. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
