Apparently you don't have ARC for the machine you receive news on. UnARCing the binaries on UNIX is QUITE helpful in a number of ways. First one can tell if the archive is intact (no downloading for an hour to get 'CRC error' or some other problem). One could look at the text files, and since one would probably have a PC too, one could run them after printing out the docs on UNIX :-). Just take the word of those who have tried it, UNIX ARC is useful to MS-DOS users. > jvc@mirror > Are the people resisting PKARC the same ones who resisted ARC when it > first came out (because it was a change) but now are happy with ARC? I support PKARC fully... what I really want is UNIX ARC to be compatible, and archives that have squashed contents to be easily recognizable so I know which program to use! (Vern Buerg's ARCE is just about as fast, and easier to use than PKARC...) -- Dean Brunette {ucbvax, etc.}!hplabs!oliveb!olivej!dragon Olivetti Advanced Technology Center _____ _____ __|__ _____ 20300 Stevens Creek Blvd. | | _____| | | Cupertino, CA 95014 |_____| |_____| |__ |_____
