? Is a manual for *programming* in gnu-emacs-lisp available (even in rough
? draft form)?  I am quite desperate for a good reference, having wasted
? too many hours figuring out things the hard way...

I would love to see it completed as well. RMS does write well, and his
intent seem to be to make everything crystal clear even to novices.
C'mon Richard, emacs is good enuf, now tell us how to use the rest of it.

I am sure you will will get some useful pointers from the group who is
actually writing it, but in the meantime pick up a good LISP book.
