(Except of course CATS, after all they know this stuff already :-) ****************************************************************************** NEW WORKBENCH FOR THE A500 AND A2000 Differences documented by Thad Floryan, BBS-JC (415/961-7250) ====================================================================== The AmigaDOS Enhancer 1.2 release has versions: Kickstart 33.180 Workbench 33.47 The AmigaDOS accompanying the A500 and A2000 has versions: Kickstart 33.180 Workbench 33.56 ====================================================================== Following are the additions for Workbench 33.56: :c/Ask Single-command/program for question text output and user input during EXECUTE scripts. :c/SetClock Reads the A500's or A2000's internal battery backed clock and sets the system's date and time. :System/InitPrinter Causes printer to abide newly changed Preferences settings. :System/NoFastMem Allocates all of any expansion RAM to prevent its use by incorrectly written programs. :System/SlowMemLast Adjusts the free-memory list so that the internal slow-fast RAM is allocated after any truly-fast expansion RAM. :devs/Keymaps/ch1 Very unlikely this is Chinese; may be Swiss or Czech. :devs/Keymaps/ch2 Very unlikely this is Chinese; may be Swiss or Czech. :devs/Keymaps/usa1 ??? :s/Startup-Sequence.hd Mount of any existing hard disks. Otherwise same as the usual :s/Startup-Sequence script. ====================================================================== Following are the differences between Workbench 33.47 and 33.56: :System/SetMap 33.47 size is 6692 bytes 33.56 size is 4500 bytes Only apparent difference is that the newer version has had all its debugging symbols stripped. :devs/Keymaps/usa2 Sizes are the same, but a number of internal byte code changes. 33.47 size 33.56 size ---------- ---------- :devs/Printers/Alphacom_Alphapro_101 3384 3384 :devs/Printers/Brother_HR-15XL 3336 3336 :devs/Printers/CBM_MPS1000 4788 4836 :devs/Printers/Diablo_630 3288 3288 :devs/Printers/Diablo_Advantage_D25 3248 3248 :devs/Printers/Diablo_C-150 5460 5480 :devs/Printers/Epson 5364 5396 :devs/Printers/Epson_JX-80 5928 5960 :devs/Printers/generic 1088 1088 :devs/Printers/HP_Laserjet 6228 6332 :devs/Printers/HP_Laserjet_PLUS 6244 6344 :devs/Printers/ImagewriterII 6956 6656 :devs/Printers/Okidata_292 5348 5256 :devs/Printers/Okidata_92 5476 5512 :devs/Printers/Okimate_20 5848 5800 :devs/Printers/Qume_LetterPro_20 3260 3260 Those whose sizes are the same have anywhere from one or more bytes changed in the driver.
