Yes, certainly more powerful than 8088 based PCs that are being used 
in that capacity.

The same could be said of the S-100 bus, or G-64 bus...

In all seriousness why not buy a Sun in the first place? A VME disk 
controller from Interphase or Xylogics cost more than the Amiga 2000.
Call up Scott Winkler and tell him you want to order a Sun 3/160 board
to plug into you VME card cage, if you want a smaller board ask for the
Sun 3/E board (only two VME connectors aka Eurocard format)

If you want to add a bus, add one that is commensurate with the price 
and performance of the CPU. In the case of an Amiga a Multibus interface
would probably be everything you needed. But then again it would be
a lot cheaper just to go out and buy a multibus CPU. 

The bottom line is that it will always be more expensive than just buying
a 'bussed' cpu card in the firstplace.
