Worse, it is stupid given that news itself inserts a Date header: Date: 23 Jul 87 20:03:01 GMT And for, Posting-Front-End: GNU Emacs 18.41.3 of Tue Apr 7 1987 Who cares? I hope the next upgrade to GNU will remove these headers. They impart no worthwhile information and cost us all money in transport.
