I also use the PK* software for handling all of the ARCing precisely
since many of the BBS's in my area [around Philadelphia] are doing just
this--only using/supporting PK*. Since I don't like to keep many different
programs that do the same thing all over my hard disk and using trial and
error, I decided to keep only the PK* programs for this purpose. However,
if I send/post something that is intended to be used on machines other
than a PC (i.e. machines like a VAX with ARC programs that don't support
squashing) I don't squash them.

What I don't understand is all of the complaining about using PK* in
the comp.binaries.ibm.pc newsgroup. Practically everyone and his/her
cousin has either PKARC or knows someone who does if they own a PC. So,
if the moderator stated in the administrivia that PKARC is supposed to be
used, don't be so stupid as to use SEA's ARC program.

MORAL: when all else fails, read the directions.

(Now, where did I put my asbestos underware? :-) )
