I recently posted a notice asking for help in formatting a Sider hard disk
as an all-Prodos disk rather than as a partitioned drive. I recently contacted
Xebec (the Sider manufacturer) and found out the following information:
Xebec is working on software for the Sider, to be out in late August or Septem-
ber that will allow the Sider to be formatted as an all-Prodos device. Until
then Xebec Tech Support was nice enough to give me the name of the fellow
who wrote their current ROMs for them. He has written a replacement ROM for
the Sider that will allow the 20 meg Sider II to be formatted as a 21 meg
Prodos volume. He claims that the new ROM also speeds up the drive by
as much as 300%. The ne ROM and formatting software costs $49 and is available
from Vance Tech Services (ask for Steve Park) phone (404) 441-3322. This is
a number in Norcross GA. I haven't installed the ROM yet, but I will
post further info about it if anyone is interested.
