The fact is, they are NOT putting long expires. If that problems arises, the let's deal with it. In the meantime, Chuq's reasoning is completely valid. I have read the arguments against, and so far no one has said "Gee, rec.mag.otherrealms is causing me hardship by using all my disk space". THAT would be a legit argument. All this speculation and "arguing in principle" isn't really legit because it has nothing to do with reality. If you're insulted by long expire times, you can override them. Don't punish the people that benefit from them with your personal feelings. If you are having real problems because of them, then you should let Chuq know.
