Weasner) Distribution: world Organization: TRW EDS, Redondo Beach, CA Lines: 24 Sometime back I asked for some help on what might be causing my Mac Plus to bomb when disks were inserted into the internal drive. Thought I would report on the results of my investigations. I finally got around to doing something about it this past weekend. I have a 4" muffin fan that was connected to my Apple II Plus with some dryer ducting. I rearranged things and blew the air from the fan into the Mac's right side bottom vent. The temperature as measured at the top left vent stabilized at 108 degrees -- down from a normal 130. (Only a little bit of the air flow goes into the Mac otherwise the temperature drop would have been greater.) I then proceeded to print disk directories for 20 floppies WITHOUT A SINGLE BOMB. I then even backed up my hard disk onto 20 floppies without bombing. Without the fan blowing into the Mac, I would bomb on about every fourth or fifth disk insertion after it had been on for a while. One of these days I'll take the Mac in to get it fixed under AppleCare. If the dealer says to add a fan, I'll tell him to go ahead and add one as long as AppleCare pays for it, otherwise replace the faulty parts. Thanks for the help. Mike Weasner
