Well, since there is no DMA support available for the Parallel Port, the
actual data transfer part of the disk activity will be slower than a DMA
type disk controller attached to the Expansion Bus.

Does the device have some kind of pass through for the printer?

However, the benefits of having a reliable Hard Disk may easily outweigh
the these issues.  A hard drive is much nicer than a rackful of floppys...
