Sounds like a job for Unix-like 'dot' files (.login, .cshrc etc. )
invisible files that you don't have to see in the CLI unless you 
specify.

Yeah, I mean, like, what kind of 'icon' do you use for a *.info file?
(an 'icon' file that is).

This sounds like a great idea.  Can the Mac do this?
