We have had very good results using Burndy PLCC sockets.  They are very
reliable, have scope probe holes, and cost less than most of the other
brands.

One brand to stay away from is, well, so I don't get sued, A*P.
Maybe you can guess what the Middle initial Might be.
Their brown molded PLCC sockets are the pits, and cost us a great
deal of extra debugging time due to crappy connections.
