Message-ID: <163@tiger.Princeton.EDU> Date: Thu, 8-Jan-87 13:11:52 EST Article-I.D.: tiger.163 Posted: Thu Jan 8 13:11:52 1987 Date-Received: Thu, 8-Jan-87 23:44:16 EST Organization: EE, Princeton University Lines: 17 Keywords: nedit Xref: mnetor comp.sys.ibm.pc:858 comp.lang.apl:15 I use Nedit that comes with STSC/APL/PC*PLUS (v.5.0) to edit an array C, whose shape is 500x2, on an IBM/PC/XT. After typing : NEDIT 'C'. I wait roughly 90+ sec to get into nedit. Gee! It will be 'PAINFUL' to do this for forty times. (I have forty data file to edit). On IBM/PC/AT (6MHz), the initializing time can be reduced by factor 4. Doable! but not ideal! The array editor in ASYST (Mcmillan Inc.) (v.1.51) is very fast! But it lacks a lot of features such as to delete , add a row/col etc. ( at least , I havn't figured out how to do it). Should I try LOTUS 123 ? (my data file is in ASCII format). Or should I get the spreadsheet manager from STSC ? Will it be faster than NEDIT ? HP Wei wei@princeton.UUCP
