Lines: 48 Keywords: Star Trek, database Xref: mnetor rec.arts.startrek:972 comp.sys.atari.st:730 With all the discussion about various "valid" sources for info concerning Star Trek, the warped (pun intended) idea hit me to begin looking at putting together a Star Trek info database for home computers. Since I own an Atari 1040ST, that's what I'm going to develop it on. Preferably, I'd like to use a currently available use of DB software rather than write my own. So...for the comp folks, any suggestions/reviews of various db systems you're using on the ST? Strengths, weaknesses? Availability on other systems (eventually I'd like the db avaiable to those with other machines). For you trekkers out there...ideas on what should be included? Current thoughts (based on a relational DB model and off the top of my head): PERSON: A real person, actor, writer, director, bnf, etc. CHARACTER: like it says EPISODE: To include the movies and animated, and maybe the books PLACE: A locale, be it Vulcan or SanFrancisco PUBLICATION: Now that I think of it, the books go here, along with fan and prozines. DEFINITION: Everything else: These are just table names (for those who don't know what I'm talking about, think of subjects...ie. more info under each heading) Okay, the ball is rolling. I'll take all the help I can get. Respond by email, to the net, USMail, or phone. I know a lot of thought will have to go into this before I even begin, that's half the fun.
