This is an isolated part of a general problem posted earlier today to
info-vax.

Why doesn't this work?

GO.COM contains
$ DEFINE/USER_MODE SYS$INPUT 'P1
$ MCR INPSMB
$ EXIT

and

JOB.DAT contains
$ job public/after:23:00/noprint
$ password xxxxxxx
$ dir
$ eoj

giving the command
  $ @GO JOB.DAT
  $

works only if the CMKRNL privilege is turned on in the interactive process
from which the command is entered AND the job card is for the same username
as the interactice process.

otherwise, no error indication is given (or it's hidden somewhere) and
the only way to check is to display the contents of the queue and discover the
batch job never made it there.

1. Can INPSMB be used this way?
2. Are there any hidden error indicators or logical names that are set by or
   can be set for INPSMB?

Thanks..
