That's the ticket!  Let's put each file in it's own subdirectory that is
only shared with the subdirectory for the next file i.e.

file1 dir1
       |__file2 dir2
                 |__file3 dir3
                           |__file4 dir4
                                     |__file5 dir5
                                               |_file6 dir6
etc.
