The DATATRIEVE query language makes it easy to do the things you suggest, provided that you plan the record contents sufficiently in advance. We record shelf code, creation/receipt and review dates, owner or user, data type code, description of contents, media and encoding info (now that our library includes media other than mt1600), and comments. A "last mounted" date, which you suggested in your note, is an excellent idea and I believe I will add it to the domain. Thanks!
