I think it's better to know that the file is corrupted SOMETIME, rather than pulling your hair out trying to run the thing... Plus, deARCing on the 'mig' will catch the one in 16 million (or whatever) chance of error in Kermit... Lastly, recently on the net somewhere in *.sources.* someone mentioned of a very hairy patch to the ARC source which would allow ARC to run properly on a VAX running BSD 4.2... and most likely portable to other machines as well.
