I am a novice System Adminmistrator who is trying to get my MicroVax to answer the phone. I am running Version 1.2 of Ultrix-32m. In the /etc/ttys file, I set the status to "on modem". What happens is the following: If I use a modem cable, the modem answers the phone but doesn't give me the login sequence. If I use a null modem cable, the modem doesn't answer the phone. If I use a modem cable first, the modem anwers the phone. Then when I switch to the null modem cable, I get the login sequence. I am using a Hayes SmartModem at the MicroVax end. Does anyone know what I should do?
