Message-ID: <923@ulowell.UUCP> Date: Wed, 7-Jan-87 23:43:25 EST Article-I.D.: ulowell.923 Posted: Wed Jan 7 23:43:25 1987 Date-Received: Thu, 8-Jan-87 18:45:12 EST Reply-To: page@ulowell.UUCP (Bob Page) Organization: University of Lowell Lines: 24 Summary: The u.usa.ma.1 map is bogus, others might be also. Check. It was pointed out that my map entry in u.usa.ma.1 is rather old - over a year old, in fact. Nah, I said, can't be. I've SEEN some from pretty recent. So I looked through all of u.usa.ma.1 .. Yow! There are a lot of sites with old (read: bogus) map entries! Some look OK, some are surely wrong. I did not check other files besides u.usa.ma.1, so I don't know how widespread the problem is. u.usa.ma.1 should be considered suspect. All site admins everywhere should check your map entries. And rather than post a zillion correct map entries to news.config, let's just find the old ones, ok? It's true that ulowell is (correct as of a month ago) in the d.usa.ma.1 map, but I'm not convinced that people are using the d.* files as much as they should be (you should be, they don't hurt anything as long as you put them through pathalias with the u.* files). Note that this is for the Dec postings - I have not seen the Jan ones yet except for some att sites. ..Bob -- Bob Page, U of Lowell CS Dept. ulowell!page, page@ulowell.CSNET
