Message-ID: <6492@alice.uUCp> Date: Sun, 21-Dec-86 16:47:25 EST Article-I.D.: alice.6492 Posted: Sun Dec 21 16:47:25 1986 Date-Received: Sun, 21-Dec-86 22:36:24 EST References: <407@humu.UUCP> Organization: AT&T Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill NJ Lines: 7 Keywords: i/o sequential-files Summary: f77 unformatted i/o always contains goo fortran unformatted output has to contain some kind of record boundaries so BACKSPACE works. The most likely way to write a binary file from some other language and read it using fortran is to write fixed length records and use f77 direct i/o. (fortran's not a language that cooperates well with anything else)
