Approved: info-vax@sri-kl.arpa We received VMS 4.5 from DEC a couple of weeks ago and are wondering if we should install it or just sit on the tape until 4.6. I was told at the Fall DECUS that 4.6 is also a maintenance release. This tells me that probably either (a) most of the stuff in 4.5 is stuff they needed to get out quick for new processors, etc; (b) there are problems in 4.5, not bad enough to call it back, but bad enough to require a quick 4.6; or (c) both of the above. Now, 4.4 is working fine for us (except for a couple of problems with new features in the debugger) so my question to the net is: does anyone out there really know what is fixed in 4.5 and what is newly busted in 4.5? Please e-mail responses to me. I will summarize to the net. My uucp address is ...!ucbvax!mtxinu!blia!ted (or mtxinu!blia!ted@Berkeley.EDU from arpanet). Thanks in advance. P.S. My system is a very plain 750, no CI and no DSA disks.
