Info-vaxers:

On our MicroVAX VMS 4.4, I have 4 directory files that have
invalid format -- the first rec illegally spans a block (according
to ANALYZE/RMS). The recommended action is to delete the directory
and do an ANALYZE/DISK/REPAIR. Since the dirs have files in them,
VMS won't let me delete them. But when I try to delete the files
within the dirs, the files are not found since the dirs are screwy.
Any suggestions?
Thanks to all 4 people who answered my previous question about
a 'lost' file -- the method for finding and repairing the problem is
to ANALYZE/DISK/REPAIR/CONFIRM the disk and answer the prompts.
This latest problem cropped up in an amazing unrelated instance when my
co-manager deleted a duplicate pagefile.sys that
turned out to be the active pagefile (it appears that files editted
within about 3 hrs of the pagefile.sys delete were screwed up beyond
repair; the 4 dirs I refer to above are ones I had been adding and
deleting files from in the critical 3 hr period -- can someone
give a brief low-down on characteristics of the pagefile.sys that
have bearing on my trouble?)
Thanks again (when it rains, it pours).
