We are considering the purchase of a medium speed laser
printer to replace a very unreliable Imagen 480 printer. We
are currently looking at the Xerox 3700, Dataproducts LZR
2665 and the QMS PS2400. All of these are printers that can
produce arount 20 to 25 pages per minute. We expect to feed
the printer from a Ultrix based uVAX II which in-turn will
be fed from all the other systems on campus (VMS, VM/CMS,
MVS, CDC NOS, Tops-10). The software is primarily Scribe
and TeX.

We would be very interested in hearing from anyone who has
one or more of these printers installed. What is the real
throughput? Does PostScript slow things down? How do you
handle usage accounting? Has anyone written control
programs for one of these systems?
