These are great little beasts for dialing with, particularly if all you have is a terminal (i.e., no micro at home). You can program them with not only a number, but a logon sequence. I have mine at home set up so that I can walk up to it, press two buttons (or hit two keys on the keyboard), go and get a coffee, and have it dial (trying alternate numbers if one fails), log me in, and send any commands I particularly want to run whenever I log in by phone (e.g., terminal type). We're likely going to need another dialin modem or two soon (to support 1200 and 300 baud). Unfortunately, the GDC's are a bit flakey on auto-answer -- they don't always answer -- so I can't use them. Any want to swap? Ideally I would like a Racal-Vadic 212PA, since that's what our other dialins are. I'm willing to look at alternatives if they're reliable and they properly handle DTR and DCD for normal UNIX "stty hup" support.
