I would buy both programs if they are as promised and I suspect so would lots of others. I think the decision to not support users with the older roms is purely a marketing one and if a company chooses to do so that is there perogative as it is you choice whether to upgrade. Personally I would try to make my programs run on as many Macs as possible.
