I have a problem with an undocumented VMS workstation subroutine,
UIS$SET_VP_TITLE. This routine was described at the end of the Workstation
internals talk at the Fall '86 Decus, and enables one to change the title
at the top of a viewport. The problem is that when it is called from a
button AST routine, things start to go wrong if the viewport is being
written to at the same time. The exact symptoms differ from time to time,
but the system is left in a partially non-functioning state with respect
to the screen. Sometimes other viewports stop responding to button clicks
on the border. Sometimes other processes trying to write to the screen
get blocked until something is typed to the process causing the problem.

Has anyone else seen this problem, and does anyone know how to fix it?
