Summary: Wanna buy stock in my slide-rule factory?

[]

So now rumor has it that Atari are making an IBM-PC clone. Yes, an 8088
machine in 1987! A stand-alone, ge-nu-ine CLONE! The 734-th on the
market! Right at the trailing edge of technology! (And the add-on MS-DOS
box for the ST? Disappeared into a black hole.) And a lot of the rest of
Atari's R&D resources are going into a... you guessed it... a UNIX box!
Which is going to sell all of 500 units! (If you think there's a market
in _personal_ UNIX, ask AT&T why they're pulling out of the personal computer
market - eh, you're reading this on an AT&T UNIX_PC? oh well...)

If I had some of Atari's new stock, should I keep it? Well, I only have
an ST. Should I sit down and cry?

On the bright side: A new kind of ST coming, with a detached keyboard,
a main box with space for floppies and hard disks, (space for) 4 Megs on the
board, and A REAL EXPANSION SLOT!!! (Why not EIGHT slots? Because it has
been proven in the Apple II and IBM PC cases that 8 is NOT enough. That's
why.)

I'm sure the net people would like to hear the OFFICIAL scoop on these things.
