One solution is the Mac Inker from Computer Friends in Portland OR.
Phone (503) 297-2321.  This beast is around $80 and re-inks cartridge
ribbons.  It requires a customizing set for each type of cartridge inked.
It does a fine job, although if you are sloppy like me you may get a
little ink on a finger or two.  I have re-inked a cartridge and run
5000 sheets past it over the past year - it still looks great, and I'm
still using my first bottle of ink (It looks better than the manufacturers,
by the way).
