I have an 11/23 with a DEQNA that I am trying to get up under DECnet. When I turn the circuit on, I get event 5.13 (I think that's the number) which says "Initialization failure" on QNA-0. I have done the following to try to isolate the problem: (1) I swapped boards with a DEQNA which is sucessfully working on a uVAX (under UNIX). (2) I tried manually (using console ODT) to send it a setup packet. (I manually did the initialization done by the UNIX DEQNA driver.) It correctly echoed this packet to the transmit ring and interrupted at the vector which was set. (3) I checked the tranceiver cable by plugging it into another system (an IBM PC). The configuration is the following: We have a DELNI on our floor. The Ethernet cable is connected via a DEBET and fiber-optic link to an Ethernet in another building. On that Ethernet are about 5 VAXen with DEUNA's. Everything is in area 15 and all nodes are routers. The basic problem is that I am not sure EXACTLY what the "initialization failure" means. All counters (SYS, EXE, CIR, and LINE) are zero (including, oddly enough, the "initialization failure" counter in the circuit database. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what my next step should be in trying to isolate this problem? The corrections in RSX11M 4.1 Update E seem to affect the DEQNA but I find it hard to believe that it could have been THIS broken before. I haven't applied this update and am reluctant to do so without any evidence at all that it is likely to help. Thanks in advance for any assistance. -------
