Note that when it is fed no arguments, a blank line is produced. 'cd ""' does different things under Sys V than under 4.2. Under Sys V, "" is an invalid filename, so you get "No such file or directory". Under 4.2, the filename "" is the same as ".", so you cd to the current directory (a no-op). Timothy L.
