Gee, I thought about responding to the original question, but thought
everybody must surely know...

For some computivia:

Foo (I believe) came from "fubar" which was coined during Project MAC
(Multics development) at MIT.  It means:

		F...... Up Beyond All Reason
		^	^  ^      ^   ^

Somehow it was changed to FOObar.  Don't know why, but perhaps someone else
can elaborate OR correct me.
