The three famous most-often-used lies are:

(1) "Sure, I'll respect you in the morning."
(2) "The check is in the mail."
(3) "We are from the government, and we are here to help you."

To which I might add a few of my own:

(4) "Of COURSE the program is fully commented."
(5) "Well, NOW it's bug-free."
(6) "He's out of the office right now."
(7) "We are from DEC, and we're here to fix your computer."
