I have a '83 Toyota 4x4 pickup (57kmi) and I'd like to take some of the
bounce out of it. I don't believe that it's any bouncier now than when
I bought it but a frequent passenger of mine has been complaining, so I
thought I'd look into doing the moral equivalent of one-shotting the
suspension. Could it be that my shocks just are getting worn and
should be replaced anyway?

There once was a thing called a V-2,
To pilot which you did not need to--
  You just pushed a button,
  And it would leave nuttin'
But stuffs and big holes and debris, too.
