Gimme a break, rainbow. As Will said, people tend to mention someone
they're involved with, especially if their SO is a big part of their
life. If a guy talked for a long time WITHOUT mentioning his wife,
I'd either wonder if they lived in the same state or suspect that he
was actively trying to cover up his status. There's nothing insulting
about mentioning an SO--unless, of course, you take it to mean that
an attached person is saying that s/he doesn't want to have anything
to do with you. I don't take it that way. Do you?

And many people I've met like to talk about their current relationships.
They have a problem that they would like to talk over with someone
who has experienced it too, or they want to share a good memory--again,
it's sharing a big part of their life with a friend. If someone wants
to talk about a relationship with me, I'm certainly not offended.

People also like to talk (sometimes) about past relationships.
Analyzing them often helps you learn from them--it's called
Learning From Experience So You Don't Make the Same Mistake Twice.
It is part of the healing process to talk about a past relationship
that still hurts--and denying this seems incredibly insensitive
to me.

Let's do away with this macho-Bird-Dog-ism and get back to
communicating like people, not "chasing girls." (And Andy,
if you agree with him one more time, I'll--I'll sprinkle
refined sugar on your breakfast cereal! If it's one thing I
can't stand, it's an emotional Rambo for a housemate.)

Cheers,
