In the article explaining who Moses Fleetwood Walker was it was
mentioned that Cap Anson of the Chicago White Stockings pushed the blacks
out of Major League baseball in 1887. Of course this is the team that
is today known as the Chicago Cubs. The modern day White Sox were founded
in 1901 with the other original American League clubs.
Cap Anson was the Chicago Cubs for many years, in many capacities.
During the years that he was there, there was no better team in baseball.
It is easy to see how he could sway the fans and the leagues to do the
awful thing of excluding blacks. Today, it is easy to see how wrong he
was.
