On the other hand I had no trouble going from Canada to US. It was the
crossing south east of Montreal maybe 50-70 miles or so. I rode up, told
her I was going home, declared nothing and was gone. 

I'd be interested in image though. I was in black leather jacket on a
black cafe fairing bike with tank bag, saddlebags, and tent/sleeping
bag on back. A Harley rider I talked with in upper Michigan talked about
all the hassles he endured crossing and trying to get motel accomodations.
Turns out he was dressing outlaw style. I have nothing against making
your own "statement" but it really isn't fair to cry foul when it is 
obvious what 90% of the people think of that statement.
