I don't believe that Wordstar uses carriage returns in its paragraphs. The soft returns that Wordperfect uses are codes it knows, but are unimportant. All you need to do is to ensure that no carriage returns or linefeeds are in the paragraphs, so that they would look like long text lines. Wordperfect should then do its automatic hyphenation and margin setting when you load the file. Also, Wordperfect does not use the high bits of characters, as Wordstar does, so that stripping is necessary.
