And I didn't need a car in San Francisco, either. I tried doing without one
here in Houston but it didn't work very well. If you modify that statement
to "in some places a car is not as necessary as many feel" I'd have to agree,
but in some parts of the country you are effectively stranded without one.

Which is a shame... I prefer public transport myself.
