If love is common as dirt, I and most of the people I know must be living
in operating rooms. People don't just turn relationships on and off like a
light bulb. Finding a one-nighter isn't that difficult, if one lowers one's
standards of who he or she wants to have a relationship with. Finding
a partner that is well-matched enough for the two of you to stick together
for a decent amount of time without a super-human effort to tolerate each
other is rather hard to do, although it depends on a person's exact situation
socially, academically, geographically, etc. as to the number of available members
of the opposite gender are available (assuming even societal distribution
of people that you could fall in love or lust with, which often isn't the
case).
