Now that the question is raised I too would like to come to a better
understanding of how electrostatic force (for one) is modelled using the
idea of virtual particle exchange.

First question: is it possible to begin with the model of an electron
with its virtual particle "cloud" and derive Gauss's law?

If so, is the derivation the mere application of QM equations and
numeralogical juggling, or is it possible to interpret the derivation in
quasi-classical terms? So far we innocent truth seekers have seen
precious little of the latter. If a classical understanding is not
feasible let's come right out and say so.
