10/27 N tahoe and Yosemite.  Patches as low as 4,500 feet, but
snow is still quite sparse.  Rumor has it that Boreal would open
soon.  I don't know who spreading that rumor, but it's not true.
There might be enough snow to ski Freel Peak near Heavenly.... :-)
Weather: clear and slight wind (10 MPH from West), day temps 60 F.
X-C wax, if there had been enough base: purple stick.
South facing slopes are still quite walkable to 10,000 feet.
My observations are from the Mt. Rose ridge, N shore Tahoe, and
driving through Yosemite.
