I'm not sure that this discussion belongs in net.jokes (No, it does! 800
on the SAT is definately a joke!)

In any case scores of 780 and 800 are assigned to preserve the statistical
validity of the results -- if every top score was assigned 800, then the
statistical properties on which the whole SAT game is based would be
invalidated.

If you really wanted 800 on your SAT, you should have made sure that your
mother's maiden name (or whatever this year's randomiser was) had the
proper letters in it.
