Lines: 22 I need information on benchmarking system performance. Are there any recommended books/articles on the subject? What are the dimensions of performance, and how should they be measured (e.g., how do I measure "disk throughput", "cpu performance", etc.)? I hear of "whetstone" and other benchmarks (I recently copied a "dhrystone" benchmark from net.sources -- thanks). What are these benchmarks, what do they measure, and where can I get copies? Source code will be much appreciated. Please respond by mail (unless your info warrants a follow-up). If others are interested, mail me your names and net-addresses, I will foreward copies. If there is sufficient interest, I will post a summary. Thanks in advance for whatever info you can offer. -- Steve Harris | {allegra|ihnp4|cbosgd|ima|genrad|amd|harvard}!\ Pixel Systems Inc. | wjh12!pixel!vsh 300 Wildwood Street | Woburn, MA 01801 | 617-933-7735 x2314
