Has anyone ever spent a while on lower levels throwing gems at a unicorn, and
then on the way up used some innocuous wand (like sleep) on a monster?

The last time I did this (a long time ago, admittedly... 'twas still Hack
version 1.01), the sleep ray KILLED everything I hit with it! Did this have
anything to do with the 12 to 20 gems I tossed at the unicorn (successfully)?
And does it still happen?
