VRTX was a nice little ROM-based real-time kernel, limited but very
solid, and unchanged for several years. Then Hunter and Ready came
out with a new version (3), changed the interface for all the system calls,
and changed the semantics of several of them, for no really pressing
reason. Not a good tactic from a company that's big on putting software
components in ROM.
