Near the begining of the episode "The Man Trap," after it is determined that
a blue-shirted crewman died of salt depletion, McCoy tests a substance which
should be salt (but might not be) by tasting it!  His pronouncement is on the
order of, "It's salt, Jim."  If it were instead deadly poison, I can only
imagine what he would have said.  I'm suprised he didn't pop that Borga plant
in his mouth to check it out.
