Summary: recommendations?

I turn to the net for help.

I have seen the glut of new star trek novels out, but the variety of writers
has me confused. I've read the Vonda McIntyre and Diane Duane novels, because
I like their own work, and I happily took a chance on Uhura's Song,(thank you,
Janet Kagen!), but some of the other novels are really bad. I really got
burned on one, and have forgotten its title and sold it back.
Could someone tell me which authors treat Trek decently?

Secondly, I heard a rumor that Diane Duane is scripting two issues of the
Star Trek comic. Anybody know which issues?
