According to the July 1985 issue of CONSUMER REPORTS (page 382), you can call
the "Telephone Preference Service" (like the "Mail Preference Service," this is
part of of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA)) at (212) 689-4977 and have
your name put on a list of people who don't want telephone solicitations.
