My overall impression is that the novelizations do not follow the 
storyline of the episode well enough.  The only author I've read (but
I have NOT read much!) who actually does a good job with this sort of
thing is Terrance Dicks, especially so with his own stories -- most
notably "The Five Doctors."

Otherwise, no comment.
