When I first heard complaints about Saturday cartoons being just one
big advertisement, I thought it was a bunch of hooey. After all, I
remember being a kid, and I would have loved to have had some
"merchandising" done by my favorite shows (I always wanted a Sky King
airplane model). And if the toys came first instead of the show,
I thought there was nothing wrong with kids seeing their favorite toys
"come to life."

Then I watched some of the shows and I was converted. They are indeed
nothing but continuous commercials for some toy or other, disguised as
cartoon programs. Pure, unadulterated exploitation. Boooo!!
