     Ever wonder about those signals that  seem	 to  "sweep"
     across  the HF band?  Is it just a	bored operator twis-
     ting the VFO knob?	  A  search  of	 government  records
     revealed the following license:


   2.0000    KA2XNH____SRI International, experimental contract	stn (US	Navy co
		       ntract N00014-83-C-0267). For sweeping the band 2-32 MHz
			in 1 Hz	increments not more than 3 times per hour at a
		       sweep rate of not less than 5 minutes sweep for the enti
		       re band,	50w, A0	emission

     QST carried an article several years ago on the subject
     of	 sweepers.  Can	anyone contribute more recent infor-
     mation regarding sweepers?
