Some of the very faint lines on the map of Colorado aren't even really roads for cars. They're 4 wheel-drive routes ! Yes a motorcycle might make it but I sure wouldn't take a Goldwing on any of them. The secondary routes (US Hwy vs I-XX) are the way to go. Folks are friendly, traffic is light (away from cities) and the pace can be varied from twisty roads in the mountains to dead-straight in the plains. In '83 I did a trip on my CB900F and had everyone I met all afternoon (about 20 or so) in western Kansas, wave to me ! I didn't think that people did that anymore.
