Hmmm, so that's how it happened. Silly us. We didn't know which end was up, just partying all the time and yelling dumb slogans. Well, speak for yourself, Frank. No, don't. Sorry--I didn't mean that. Don't sell yourself short, Frank. There was a war on, and everybody's ass was on the line, and the Revolution was just around the corner. Maybe it was a pipe dream (considering what was in the pipe), but we did believe it. We wouid transform a sick society into one big co-op. Of course, Madison Avenue was hot on our heels, co-opting our values wherever it could. And so was Hollywood, which through all those outasight peace-and-love days steadfastly maintained the political consciousness of a turnip. And still there were films that did hit the mark. Not "Getting Straight", "Easy Rider". Or better, "THX 1138". Frank, if you were as peripheral to The Movement as your comments indicate, I'm sorry. But don't knock it because you weren't there in the streets. Then again, maybe that *is* a good reason to knock it. You can't look at today's jazzercise/pasta salad/designer culture and imagine you'll get another chance real soon. Sigh.
