Do not change your money in America!  Do it when you get there.
You DO NOT want to be left with a lot of shekels at the end of your
trip - even if you can convert them back (see below) they will have
lost a little of their value.

You may or may not opt to change money on the black market.  If you
convert legally, you will get a smaller return on the money, but you
will have the option of converting back and remaining shekels at the
end.  However, if you use the black market, make sure you only do a
little at a time - so you are not left with too much.

Actually, there are many places where you can pay in dollars, credit
cards, etc. Take your credit cards - you will probably be able to use
them in hotels, tourist orriented cards, etc.
