The Davenport/ffitch/Padget note refers to bugs in SMP 1.3.7 which
have in small measure, been corrected in 1.5.0. Nevertheless, Ashenhurst's
insistence on letters not being technically detailed suggests another
forum. I have sent a note to the Sigsam bulletin, with many of the same
facts; perhaps additional letters should be sent to Sigsam Bulletin.
A letter to CACM could, perhaps, refer to these other publications.

re: Macsyma and MIT's "authorization"... I rarely take my automobile to
the dealer's service center; I think Symbolics has to demonstrate
the skill of its "macsyma mechanics" before I would trust them with my
software maintenance.
