With regards to 'scanf' and Hippo C; it isn't included.  If you look at the
libraries included with the compiler, you can see what Kernighan and
Richie functions were included.  Hippo C does support most of the GEMDOS,
AES (what's that mean?) and VDI (Virtual Device Interface) calls.  However
the documentation of these calls is poor.  Also, the executable file is
extremely large compared to source code.  What I mean is, if you compile,
assemble, and load a 2 or 3 line program, the executable file is about 10K
in size!!!  I'm not sure why, but I think that at load time, all of the libraris are loaded whether they are needed or not; not very efficient but safe.
I've been struggling to make sense out of the AES and VDI calls (since I
don't have a developer's package) for about a month now.  Since Atari isn't
cooperating (unless you have $300.00), maybe us poor folk ought to document
the AES and VDI calls on the net (if and when we discover their usage).
Maybe if we post incorrect AES and VDI documentation, someone with a 
developer's package will correct us (I hope).
