Lines: 9 NEC has asked the US District Court (San Jose, CA) for a summary judgement that Intel has lost its copyright to microcode for the 8086, 8088 by not requiring that second-source manufacturers put a copyright sticker on each chip. This is in addition to earlier NEC claims that microcode can't be copyrighted. If NEC prevails then the legal problems with marketing the V chips will be solved in NEC's favor.
