I am looking for information leading to the answer to the question:

"Can the ST be reconfigured in software to have > 640 bit resolution in the
horizontal axis?"

One thing I appreciate about my computer is the 132 column terminal that I use
when I need to see a bunch of stuff at once. I have been putting off picking
up an ST because the graphics display appears to be limited to 80 columns,
which is not sufficient for my needs. The fact that I can open a window and
scroll it sideways is NOT the same thing.

From reading the BYTE article on the AMIGA graphics chip set, the above
mentioned trick appears not to be possible for them due to bus bandwidth
limitations. Does anybody know if the same limitation applies to the ST?
