My local library wasn't much help. This is a project I am doing with my daughters, ages 7 and 8; once a month we choose a place and try out a day of cooking. Last month we did west Africa; we had foo-foo, peanut butter soup, fried plantains and rice cakes. I avoide highly spiced foods; the kids would not enjoy them. What I am looking for are foods that are typical of the region, different from our standard diet, and simple enough for the kids to do a large part of the preparation (getting there is half the fun). At the same time, we read books about the place we are learning about. For Hawaii we are reading stories about a mythical hero named Mauii. So far this project has been fun for me and the kids; I'd sure appreciate any pointers you could send me. -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Janet Smuga I've had a great many troubles in my time, ihnp4!mtuxo!smuga and most of them never happened. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
