I agree that some things will always be remembered with an
unpleasant feeling, but in my own paltry years of experience
I find that just waiting long enough dulls the pain considerably.
Just about anything, when you look at it in perspective, loses
its importance in a few years' time--unless you susbscribe
to the Cataclysmic Historical Events school of thought, in which
case you will be FOREVER thinking, "If only this had happened. . .
it would have affected everything up until now. . . it would all
be different. . ."  

And Oded is right in that the most painful memories are of
things YOU did.  It's damn hard to forgive yourself.

I was going to refrain from pointing out the appropriateness
of the shortened form (beginning with D) of Richard Aleksandr's 
first name, but the thought was just too delightful not to share.
