Yes, there is at least one version of the NCAR package available for 
UN*X (at least the 4.2 BSD flavor, although it may run on others).
We have it running here on our Sun, and have distributed to sites running
other varieties as well.  We do CHARGE for our distribution, and
since a commercial message is inappropriate here, please contact me
by email for more information.
