Message-ID: <668@hou2a.UUCP> Date: Mon, 11-Nov-85 09:10:10 EST Article-I.D.: hou2a.668 Posted: Mon Nov 11 09:10:10 1985 Date-Received: Tue, 12-Nov-85 04:27:06 EST Organization: AT&T Bell Labs, Holmdel NJ Lines: 17 Keywords: Gorilla/Banana($89.50), Silver Reed($199);Olivetti Ink Jet ($199) Has anyone tried these bargain - basement printers out??? The Silver-Reed is a daisy-wheel type (a tractor - feed is available for $70); the Gorilla/Banana (made by C.ITOH) is a dot matrix; the Olivetti uses spark ink-jet technology. I don't intend to print anything fancy at home (or even that much), but I suppose graphics capability would be nice (the Silver-Reed will do limited graphics using periods ). All of these machines seem underpriced - the question is, do 'you get what you pay for???????????????' I'd be very interested if someone has had any experience with 1 or more of these machines to give me some comments. As usual, if I get enough responses, I'll summarize. Thanx.
