   Does anyone know of any work that has been done
   in the area of automatic program generation for
   the numerical simulation of systems of non-linear
   partial differential equations?

   For example: given a suitable specification
   language for stating the problem and characterizing
   a finite difference scheme, one could imagine
   automatically generating a program to simulate
   problems in that class.

   We need information about any existing packages
   that might do this sort of thing;
   also, any work on formal specification languages
   for pde's and their solution techniques;
   also, any help finding bibliographies, or hints
   about where to start looking...

   Please reply directly to the mail address below.
