TANSTAAFL.  You do indeed get what you pay for.  If you do not have to pay for
a service, the value of that service is worth far less than if you have a
vested interest.  If there is no direct cost to the user, said user is far more
likely to [mis]use the service.  The result is a lack of forethought in posted
messages -- like ridiculous exchanges that take entirely too much time and
bandwidth.  The signal-to-noise ratio then decreases.

I would like to see a direct cost for each message posted, or see the backbone
nodes remove "noisy" newsgroups.  My time it too valuable to waste doing manual
noise reduction.  Even this message qualifies as noise.
