Oh well... The latest distributions of SAS version 5.03 has a warning in the release notes telling you that SAS 5.03 won't run on version 4.2. of VMS. I tried it anyway and got an error message from the image activator. I then called the SAS Institute and was told that the problem was still a mystery. They didn't know why SAS wouldn't run, only that it wouldn't. I also got a message from a fellow info-vax reader who recommended that I not use version 5 yet, they were having better results with 4.10, version 5 was very buggy. I thought (and still think) that 4.10 was pretty junky. I also got very positive notes from version 5 test sites. I'm even more confused than I was before. The manual set is very nice though.
