I am a SysV machine running notes. All groups with the same truncated name are in the same notes file. The notesfile thinks its name is the first of these to hit my system. Notes is a significant portion of the news community, as is Sys V. This can't be a rare occurance. fa.laser-lovers -> mod.computers. fa.info-mac -> mod.computers. fa.info-vax -> mod.computers. net.works -> mod.computers. fa.human-nets -> mod.human-nets fa.poli-sci -> mod.politics fa.arms-d -> mod.politics.a info-applebus -> mod.protocols. fa.info-kermit -> mod.protocols. fa.tcp-ip -> mod.protocols. fa.telecom -> mod.telecom fa.info-vlsi -> mod.vlsi fa.arpa-bboard -> net.announce.a fa.info-terms -> net.info-terms (bi-directional gateway) info-ibmpc -> mod.computers. info-pyramid -> mod.computers. sun-spots -> mod.computers. info-apollo -> mod.computers. > I am >trying to do is make the name of a newsgroup sufficiently descriptive >that people will do the right thing. I am trying to make it EASIER for >everyone. Gee, thanks. I get all mod.computers.* in one group and all mod.protocols.* in another. This is easier?
