Am I a pedant for saying that noise added after decoding is not
dither? Its just masking noise, like somepeople add to their bedrooms
to help them sleep, and others add to their office environments for
presumably the same reason :-)
Noise added in coding produces the effect known as "dither".

It would be just like Carver to misuse names, genius that he is.
