I mean, Scott, Sulu, Uhura, and Chekov were following the orders of Admiral James Kirk, Chief of Starfleet Operations, McCoy was 'as fruity as a nutcake', and Kirk *did* capture an enemy starship that could change size! :-) Also, he retailiated against persons (terrorists?) who murdered Federation citizens, and was following a request of one of the Federation's most highly respected Ambassadors, Sarek of Vulcan!
