StallmanThe termcap documentation does not define the meaning of the cs string well enough to avoid off-by-one errors. So I designed Emacs's conventions for use of the cs string to work with the cs string for the VT100 in the termcap file here. I don't know of any reason to think that this convention is less correct than any alternative. The file etc/TERMS that comes with Emacs defines precise calling conventions for the cs string. If you are having trouble, discard your preconceived notions and compare that file with the terminal documentation. Does anything besides GNU Emacs use the cs string?
