Thanks for all the replys.  Some people suggested they may have been calzones, 
but having married into an Italian family, I know what calzones are.  
Evidently donairs are very similar (if not identical) to gyros.  Again, thanks 
for the replys.

ps.  BTW, I was able to receive CKBW from Bridgewater, NS last night on my 
shortwave (and AM) receiver.  They are a 10k watt AM station on 1000 kHz that 
we listened to while up there in June.
