Some of my friends and I just bought 200 Sony disks at $2.02 each (including
shipping) from one of the ads in Macworld (The company is called Disk World,
they also advertise in Computer Shopper).

This was my second order; I'd gotten 50 from them when the price was $2.28
or so. I have had one "bad" (squeeky) disk out of the first 50, one out
of the second batch. I recommend the company (based only on my experience
with them).

For me, the disks (sony single-sided) have been much more reliable than
the Apple disks; of 40 Apple disks, I've had to get replacements for 4.

Memorex, believe it or not, says their disks "are alright as long as you
don't use them in the external drive" ! ! ! !
One insurance company here in Madison returned quite a few (not a truckload,
as Illinois apparently did, but at least several thousand disks) due
to high failure rate.

I bought a box of memorex. with repeated returns, I had seen sixteen disks
before I had 10 that worked (the bad ones didn't just squeek, they made
that awful clicking/grinding noise)

On the other hand, some friends swear by their memorex disks. I would
never buy another.
