I realize this may have been discussed before, but I haven't known
about net.decus until recently.

I need some way of conveniently transfering ASCII and binary tapes
from VMS (3.7 or 4.x, I'm not sure) to Unix 4.2. I've got a method
that works for ASCII, but it's cumbersome. I think it will work with
the binary files, but I had problems using VMS copy format with 3072 byte
records. I will end up with some binaries with even longer records,
4K, 5K, and integer multiples.

Please respond by e-mail, I'll summarize if there are sufficient
responses.
