In this note I suggested that there should be a net.os. The main reasons are that currently operating systems discussions tend to get lost in unix-wizards, a group that I have long ago been forced to drop through insufficient time to wade through the junk/useful stuff for the operating system stuff I'm really interested in. I did not expect a strong response as many of the people who would read it still subscribe to unix-wizards (and many would continue to do so even after the creation of net.os). So far I have recieved 24 votes, all in favour (not surprising). Many of those people said they had also been forced to drop unix-wizards. This strikes me as sufficient to create the group (Chuqui's calculations notwithstanding). If you are for or against, feel free to mail me & I will include you in my tally. In another week or two, I will trot out my numbers for the Powers-That-Be to Pronounce-Upon. (I have a list of the people who voted, they're all over the map.) -- Usenet: {dalcs dciem garfield musocs qucis sask titan trigraph ubc-vision utzoo watmath allegra cornell decvax decwrl ihnp4 uw-beaver} !utcsri!mason Dave Mason, U.
