My idea of the perfect vacation is someplace where there is no TV, radio,
shopping malls, loud noises, big cities, air pollution, or crowds. All I want
is warm days, cool nights, miles of open space, and a good horse underneath me.
Someplace like the western part of the Dakotas or the eastern part of Wyoming
or Montana would be perfect. Does anyone know of a *working* ranch in that part
of the country that will take paying guests for a week or so? I ride well enough
to participate in the work of a ranch, although I don't know anything about
roping cattle and such.

I'd be embarassed to be seen on a dude ranch and ashamed to admit that I had
been to one, so, please, no pointers to "resort ranches" and such. If you don't
know of a place like I've described, do you know the addresses of the tourism
departments for the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, or Montana?

I have lots of time: I'm planning this for late summer '86. Thanks in advance.
