I am trying to remove the lock and the actuator rack
of Pontiac Sunbird 1980. The problem is as follows:

after removing the steering wheel and lock
plate (I did not use a lock plate depressor/
remover in order to pry the snap ring out), I
CANNOT remove the turn signal cancelling cam
and the spring behind it, after many various
attempts. The manual says I just simply slide
	them out.

Is there any expert out there that could give me some
hints on how to remove this troublesome cam assembly?
Should I use the depressor in the first place in order
to slide/smooth out this cam before removing it? I am
in central NJ, and it is impossible (almost, I hope)
to find the lock plate depressor/remover. Info on
where I can get them in NJ is also appreciated.

I hope this is the right newsgroup for this question.
Sorry if it is not.
