Getting back to the discussion about Anton Bruckner
(if its not too late) anyone interested in this period
MUST read Frederic Morton's A NERVOUS SPLENDOR: Vienna 1888/1889
published by Penguin in 1980.

Excellent book about Vienna in this period, with Bruckner,
Mahler, Klimt, Schnitzler, and the rest. The book cycles
around a single event, the murder/suicide of Crown Prince
Rudolf and his mistress. A very remarkable book!
