It appears that the Yankees don't have *pennant* fever, they just have a fever, apparently caused by something terminal, in which case they have approximately 20 games to live. I was especially dismayed by the 2nd game, in which Niekro *could* have gotten #300, *as well as* a shutout (in which case he would supposedly have been the oldest pitcher (*officially*) to pitch one, *AS WELL AS* a complete game, which Yankee pitchers do *not* get these days. Oh, well, I didn't *really* want to see another rerun of Yankees vs. Royals in the playoffs. :-) -- Back on the freeway, which is already in progress, Allen Grabert (...ittatc!bunker!allen)
