I am entertaining the idea of purchasing a Fostex B16 half-inch 16-track tape
recorder. At ~$6k, there doesn't seem to be anything else to compare to.
Has anyone on the net had any experience with one of these units?

I realize that the skinny track format will make for more hiss and increased
possibility of dropouts, but I think I heard a rumor that the head stack
wears out after about 91 days.
