This new newsgroup has been discussed in the appropriate places,
as far as I can tell, with no serious objections raised.

At a meeting of the EUUG in Copenhagen on Internationalisation of
Computer Systems, a unanimous vote was taken to creat such a group.

The newsgroup is to serve as a forum for discussion amongst those
who are interested in support for multiple natural languages,
including character sets, natural language message handling and a whole
host of other issues.

Much of this is not specific to UNIX systems, although a lot of the
implementation detail will be of interest in that sphere.

It is hoped that /usr/group in the US, /usr/group/uk and the EUUG,
and any similar organisations in the Far East and other parts of
the world will be able to air their views, problems and solutions
in this newsgroup.

This is neither to do with Standards work (yet), not does it belong
in net.nlang. It needs room of its own.

This is a serious effort. Much work is being done on the subject,
and the world at large is currently ignorant of what is happening.
With luck, this newsgroup will help to put it right.

Mike Banahan, Chairman, /usr/group/uk & EUUG Internationalisation
Committees.
