Clesius @ Raytheon Co., Portsmouth RI) Organization: Raytheon Co., Portsmouth RI Lines: 37 After seeing a demonstration of the Amiga at my local dealer, I was impressed enough to put myself on the waiting list for his second shipment of machines. The first shipment was to be on 9/27; the latest word is that the first shipment will be 'next week' (~10/9). I'd like to know if anyone has purchased a non-development Amiga through a dealer. Have any commercial shipments taken place yet? Having published software for the Apple II, I could easily justify a development system from Commodore, but being a software type, I would like the hardware support (however minimal) offered by a dealer (read as 'E.E.', not 'salesman') enough to spend the extra $$. Are all the potential 'developers' scoffing up the production supply of systems? I am very interested in a developer's kit which supposedly includes the 'C' compiler and technical manuals, however. What is involved in becoming an Amiga software 'developer' in Commodore's eyes? It is also disconcerting to hear that developers are not receiving the same hardware that is being advertised in periodicals (different monitor). In the demonstration, I saw no evidence of screen flicker with the 'mandrill demo' or any of the other displays. The monitor was a high quality RGB. Has anyone seen the output of the RGB monitor that is going to be shipped with the production version of the Amiga? Does it have considerable flicker? Have those people who did not receive their kickstart disk or manuals eventually receive them? Was version 29 an improvement over 28? Any information on any of the above topics would be greatly appreciated. -- /^^^/ / __/__________________________________________________ / !/ Jeffrey Jay Clesius !\ / / Raytheon Submarine Signal Division !_\ /^^^/ / /!
