I am tempted to take the plunge and purchase a VHS HI-FI VCR. A large
video chain near here is selling a new 1986 model with the MTS stereo
decoder built in for $499. One thing I noticed while playing with it
at the store was that there was a definite amount of "breathing" or
"pumping" of the audio while playing back a prerecorded VHS HI-FI
tape (The Empire Strikes Back). Also the LED level indicators spent
a lot of time in the red i.e. +6, +9 vu. This seems to indicate a
mismatch between this particular unit and the prerecorded tape. Has
anyone experienced similar compatibly problems with their
VHS HI-FI VCRs?

     Thanks in advance!
