This group has been created after requesting comments from net.news.group
and believes that it has followed the procedures required.

At a meeting of the EUUG in Copenhagen in September, a unanimous vote of
the Internationalisation working party requested that such a group should be
established, to serve as a forum for discussion of the issues involved
in tailoring UNIX and other operating systems to provide support for
	multiple character set working
	natural language interaction
	correct handling of cultural dependencies
and anything else needed for a system to be able to work in a variety
of natural languages.

The discussions appropriate to this area are currently ill-coordinated.
A lot of work is being done and not being aired, and for a consensus
to be arrived at, it is important that the topics are discussed widely.

There are already working parties established, many communicating
privately by post. The general population is denied the chance to see
the work being done and to become involved. It is hoped that this
newsgroup will help to rectify that situation.

As I currently chair both the /usr/group/uk and the EUUG working
parties on this subject, I will be glad to receive comments on the work
of those groups.
