Does anyone have experience with using System Industries SIMACS system
(for sharing disks between VAXen) with VMS V4 (4.1 in our case)? We've
been very pleased with most SI stuff, but less with this product.
Basically it's associated SW is attuned to V3 and adapted to V4 -
resulting in some annoying limitations. SI are (or are about to) do a
Beta test of a new version in the USA; I'd be interested in hearing
from anyone with SIMACS, but esp. re V4, and any Beta test site,
so we can share experience. As this is a specialist subject, if there are
>3-4 users about a mailing list might be useful? Please give uucp access
route if possible, access to ARPANET is unreliable.

For those who don't know about SIMACS but are still reading - if it
worked properly it could give almost all the advantages of DEC's
Cluster system at a much reduced price (1/3 in our case, but we already
had SI disk controllers (with 'Eagle' disks - (excellent)).
Unfortunately I cannot recommend the current version - hopefully SI will
fix it and get back to their usual high technical reputation.
