They use RAM cartridges, and those suckers are EXPENSIVE, too much so to be mailing around at random. There have been some proposals for a way to code the patches on the net as a down-loadable file, but so far there is no set standard. Dx-7 patches consist of 155 parameters whose magnitudes are less than 128. Bill S.
