Well Dan you asked. I agree TV is the most poorly developed 
communication medium going. Unfortunately the ratings are based on what 
appears to exceptionally low taste viewing samples. I cannot think of 
one prime time show that I would watch. If it wasn't for Cinemax/HBO I 
wouldn't watch at all. Don't get me wrong most of what's on cinemax/hbo 
is nearly as bad, especially the made for cinemax/HBO productions. Rare 
exceptions do occur, The Far Pavillions etc. But TV as whole is a total 
loss. One other exception is the public channels, they carry many good 
shows, wild world of animals, Nova and some good movies that would never 
get shown on commercial TV.

However TV is the great babysitter, right?
