Two items are worth pointing out however: 1) The backspace key seems to be somewhat destructive. That is the reason for the 'bc=\ED' entry. 2) The top line of the display is used as a status line and is protected. The normal sequence for moving to the top line actually moves to the second line of the display- unfortunately, so does an attempt at moving to the second line. To get around this, we play around with the row offsets so that the top line of the screen is actually the second line of the display.
