"Toshio Ozawa, CBS/Sony/Japan president, recently stated
that his company would increase its CD software production
in its Shizuoka factory from 1 million/month to 1.5 million/
month, by May or June of 1986. By the end of 1986, production
should be upped to three million discs/month in Japan.
Moreover, Ozawa stated, the company's Terre Haute, IN plant,
which currently produces 500,000/month, will increase its
production to 1 million CDs/month by the end of this year.
The production target for the U.S. plant is two million
discs/month by the end of 1986, Ozawa stated. He added that,
if all goes as scheduled, the total CBS/Sony U.S./Japan
production of CDs will near 40 million for the whole of 1986."
