In the new issue of Ms. Magazine, there is a story titled "Electronic Lover",
about a man who masqueraded as a disabled woman on CompuServe, and how his
unmasking affected the other people on the net who had built up sometimes
intimate relationships with him.

This is a true story, not fiction.

CompuServe is a little different from Usenet, of course, but if you are
into high-tech electronic bulletin board communications and its affect
on inter-personal relationships, this makes amusing and amazing reading.
