My trouble prone 85 Buyick Park Avenue has another problem.
Hot front wheel bearing. After four miles of driving without any
brakes, the left and right bearings are extremely hot. The left one
I can hold my finger on without being burned, however the right on will burn
your finger. I am touching the
shaft on the inside where it enters hub. Has anybody else had
similar problems? Turning it by hand produces no strange noises.
However on a smooth road above 35 you can definitely hear a noise.
It started after they replaced the transmission. It is hard to understand
how they could have damaged the wheel bearing in doing that unless
it is the CV Joint that is in trouble. However the shaft leaving
the CV Joint towards the engine is not hot.
