Being greedy, you've sold and picked up everything you're carrying, but you notice that the shopkeeper hasn't run out of money yet. Finish going thru the shop, and escape. If he doesn't start chasing you, drop all you're gold except for 1 piece outside the shop, and reenter. Now, pay the nice shopkeeper, and you'll get something like "You don't owe Bletchity-Fubar anything, but since he was robbed recently, you partially repay his expenses.". At this point, you're back Bletchity's good graces, and you can sell him everything again. Keep this up until he's broke. I'm pretty (not absolutely) sure this will work even if he does chase you.
