Calls to Atari distributors also revealed the following (if you haven't
bought your ST yet.

You can get the ST, Mono, Color, 1 single sided drive, 1 double sided drive
for around $1500.

You can get the ST, Mono, Color, 1 single sided drive, 1 hard drive for about
$2400.

One mail order operation has been buying the "big package" and selling the
pieces.

Caveat - Atari has a strange return/warrenty policy. The warrenty is
provided/sold by the dealer. Local dealers provide it free, but are under
no obligation to do so. I am told that this policy may change soon.
