I'm doing my master's research on optimal wheel profile design. Does
anybody out there have any current figures on anything like:

1. Percent of AAR 1:20 wheels used vs. CN 'H' or CN 'A'.
2. Life expectancy of AAR 1:20 wheel before regrinding.
3. Etc... anything you might think useful.

Also, I'm doing an work and wear study for an average size freight train.
I want to show the reduced cost of one of my optimal wheels vs. an AAR 1:20
wheel. I need a typical track layout including starting and ending
locations, number and degree of curves, total length of tangent track,
any speed limits that are imposed.

Please send any infomation you think pertinent or if you want to talk about
my research, contact me at DEWITT@CLEMSON or
