Steve, Dave Barry's column is copyrighted. It is a violation of the copyright law for you to post Barry's column without permission from the copyright owner. I quote from the net.announce.newusers article titled "Rules for posting to Usenet (Last changed: 1 July 1985)": It is perfectly legal to reproduce short extracts of a copyrighted work for critical purposes, but reproduction in whole is strictly and explicitly forbidden by US and international copyright law. (Otherwise, there would be no way for the artist to make money, and there would thus be less motive for people to go to the trouble of making their art available at all. The crime of theft is as serious in this context as any other, even though you may not have to pick locks, mask your face, or conceal merchandise.) I will not respond to rebuttals because I'm tired of debating the validity, practicality, and morality of the copyright law. You can find out about the copyright law from your local librarian.
