(I'm not picking on  you,  Adrienne.  Really  I'm  not  (-:  ).  The  above
happened to remind me of a related (and admittedly sexist) proverb:

"A woman marries a man so she can make him over into the person  she  wants
him  to be.  After she's done that, she divorces him because he's no longer
the man she married."

BTW, I've known men (including me)  to  chase  after  abusive  women,  too.
Remember  the  discussion  on  "puppydogism"?  Planning  to  "fix  them up"
doesn't seem to be the motivation there.  More like fixing one's self up to
make it work.

Well a day.  Back to work.
