If so, you could easily collect at least this much evidence: At each of several points on the platform between which the pull varies, set up a weighted cord suspended from a simple tripod or other support. Take photographs of the whole set-up from several perspectives, showing the weights hanging in *significantly* non-uniform directions. Offer to show us the photographs.
