Carolina, Chapel Hill Lines: 18 Keywords: sinus, cortizone References: Recently, an ENT specialist told me that chronic nasal blockage was causing my frequent sinus infections. The blockage stemmed from a combination of allergies, nasal polyps, and a slightly deviated septum. She said that surgery might not be necessary if we could remove that part of the blockage caused by allergy symptoms. To alleviate the allergy-based swelling, she prescribed "Nasalide", a nose spray containing cortizone, which I take twice a day. She said that I shouldn't experience any of the terrible side effects associated with cortizone treatment, since a very small dose applied directly to the nasal passages is much more effective than even a very large dose taken orally (cortizone taken orally will be distributed throughout the entire body). Has anyone had experience with Nasalide, or something similar drug? Can long term use (e.g. twice a day for 50 years) cause any problems? Frank Silbermann
