    Last fall I went to Vienna with my trusty Mountain Dulcimer. I was
 going to carry it on, and got permission from the airline, but
decided to label it with many fragile stickers and sent it below. It
arrived in fine shape.  On my return trip, they promissed to carry it
on (or something like that), and then left it behind!  It arrived the
next day un scathed, but my nerves were shot.
   If you have a good hard case, it's probably going to be ok, but mark
it well, and make sure they don't  put it aside for safe keeping, or
 it may not arrive when you do!
