Disclaimer: I use Macs, I am a software engineer, I have not read Inside Mac

I'm curious: How do fonts work? In a word processor like MacWrite does
each character have four bytes of info: size, font, attributes, and ASCII?
E.g. what is the internal form of a font specification? And for that
matter, what about the attribute specs (%I, %B, %O, %S, ...)?

				Thanks for replying...
