Actually, I responded to this in the original article.  My idea  was  that,
if  anyone is going to be inconvenienced, it should be the drunk driver and
their family losing transportation  rather  than  their  victims'  families
losing lives.

There's a very simple way to avoid the problem completely:

                          DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.
