With the addition of Enos Cabell they now have a stick at third. Mike Marshall had been rapping the ball until his appendix burst and now he'll be back. Pedro Guerrero wrists are too quick for opposing pitchers. Greg Brock is now hitting homers. With saavy vets like Bill the Dean Russell and Steve Yeager waiting in the wings, they could be too tough. Fernando Valenzuela and Orel Hershiser (sp?) are the best 1-2 punch in the majors. You're wrong if you think otherwise. They're in a big series against the Cards now. They won last night 2-1. The weekend games should be great. I think Fernando goes Saturday and if that game isn't on the game of the week... With the strike imminent, they should be in first place for the first half. Incidentally, this strike sure is going to suck. I was going through baseball-withdrawl for the few days the action stopped before the All-Star game. Did anyone catch that hilarious Comedy Salute to Baseball on Monday? Sorry Cubbettes, Metsters and Red Birds. All you're getting this year is the Dodger Blues. P.S. Sorry for the rah-rah spiel but you see I've been a Pirate fan for 20 years and it seems as though there's not much for me to do lately except avoid the box scores.
