Bowler [SDG]) Distribution: net Organization: U of Waterloo, Ontario Lines: 21 Summary: All this discussion about domain addressing over source routing, and "I want to explcitly route my messages with '!'", is ignoring the fact that RFC822 does actually does have an explicit routing syntax. The syntax is <@site1,@site2,@site3 : user@site> The standard is unclear about wheither the routing list is interpreted left to right, or right to left, but I presume you send to "site1" first. Parsing precedence can also be specified by use of the quoting mechanism. e.g. "uucpsite!user"@gatesite.network (the message is routed automagically to "gatesite" which then attempts to parse "uucpsite!user" relative to its own rules.) These potential capabilities seem to be ignored in all the discussion. Is this because: 1) I am interpreting RFC822 incorrectly, and the capabilities are not there? 2) SENDMAIL can't do either of these things, or no one has yet figured out how to make it do this? 3) No one has ever written a full parser for RFC822 type addresses?
