When baseball did integrate, Mr. Griffith proceeded to sign half the island of Cuba (Pedro Ramos, Camilio Pascual, etc.). Apparently the presence of Latins on his team was as much as he could stand. This is the "old" Washington Senators I am talking about here. There was an expression in those days and it went like this, "Washington, first in the nation, last in the American League." If Griffith wasn't a racist maybe that expression would never have existed. David Cherson
