Maybe it's just here, but every frappin' movie I've been to see since 
the beginning of summer has run "previews"  of "European Vacation."  
If you're talking about TV, radio, and newspaper ads -- I don't know.
Maybe they felt they'd get a free ride off the obvious "sequel"-ness
of the movie...
