A company called:

	Musicworks
	18 Haviland
	Boston, Mass. 02115
	(617) 266-2886

makes a whole series of MIDI and music related hardware and
software for the Macintosh. For instance:

"MacMIDI 32(tm) allows one Macintosh to play up to
32 independent MIDI channels, which can be assigned
to an unlimited number of synthesizers." $150

(quote from their publicity)

The software drives their hardware, but also converts to/from/between
the data formats of the existing Macintosh music programs (MusicWorks,
ConcertWare and Professional Composer).
