There is a short story called "Too Early Spring", it is about two teenagers
who discover romance at a young age.  I'm not sure who the author is, but 
I recall that the first paragraph started with "Spring came early that year . . .".
If the story/novel that is being referred to by the original poster is about
adolescent romance, I'll look through some anthologies that I have for
the exact title and author.  Let me know.
