RE : Wendys offer of a kitten because her original cat
doesn't like her.

Whenever a new kitten is introduced into a home already
containing cats, there will be disputes and the fur may fly
for a week or two as everyone gets to know each other. We
just recently lost one of our cats due to kidney failure
and have just introduced a new kitten into the house. The
dog ( a shepherd/retriever mix) has adjusted the quickest
to the new kitten but due to his size we watch to make sure
he doesn't get too rough.
The two existing cats are a different story, they are
aloof and not at all interested in the kitten until the
kitten starts exploring and comes across them. Then they
start hissing at each other and a couple of times Sheba
(4 year cat) has bopped the kitten with her paw. The
kitten occasionally gets a swing in and due to the fact that
SHE still has her front claws gets a little bit of respect.

Based on past experience we expect this behaviour to moderate
over the next two weeks until it drops off to total play
fighting levels.
