I have a 77 Honda Accord; like many other "modern" cars, the
hood releases by pulling on a hood-release lever located
under the dash.

Well, the other day the little plastic retainer holding it
in place broke. I've since tried to open the hood - but to
no avail.

Any suggestions? The cable looks like the same type that is
used on a manual choke; but I've never worked on one of
those either.

I'd like to avoid taking this one to the shop, since we're
about to sell the car anyway. It would be somewhat
difficult to sell with the hood release in its current
condition.

Thanks in advance.
