When I got to work this morning I totaled up the replies to my previous posting about noisy sex (etc.) and there is *no way* that I can reply to you all personally. So here is a summary of the replies; to date their are about 30! 1) trade rooms Well, I *like* my room better except for the noise problem. It is actually a converted basement party room with a fireplace, a wet bar (I don't drink, but the sink is convenient), ghastly salmon-colored vinyl on the lower half of the walls, wood paneling on the upper half, and 2-3 times as much space as any other room in the house. 2) make noise of your own via TV, stereo, etc. I usually do. The problem arises (ahem!) when I am trying to go to sleep, and my upstairs neighbors simultaneously start going at it fervently. The person who suggested peaceful music for such a time has a good point. 3) make noise of your own via duplication I wish! At this point, I'm unattached, and not likely to change that in the near future (but school starts in 3 weeks; I can't be sure that "someone new and exciting" isn't going to show up then *8-)) 4) a "white noise" generator This I might look into. How much do they cost? 5) join them They are both not attractive _to me_! 6) they should spend half their time at *his* house. They already do. 7) make a tape of their lovemaking and play it back to them Given appropriate stereo equipment, I'd do that! *8-) 8) tell them they are disturbing you I was afraid that would be what it would come down to. (but one of her former housemates says that this doesn't help much). I guess the main problem is _me_, that is, that I get peevish because it's not *me* having fun. For the time being, I get the cats to sleep with (hers abandon her when her boyfriend comes over; I guess cats are bothered by noise too!). And I'll tell you, 3 cats hog the blankets better than *any* man! And they are nice furry space heaters too! Thanks all!
