I'm interested in compiling some information on 1200 baud
modems of the external variety, not cards. I'm considering
purchasing the Prometheus, but I haven't committed yet. I've
seen it for $300 mail order for the basic unit. How necessary are
the options? Are there other units out there that will do the same
job for less? I'd like some feedback from users on reliability and
compatibility with other modems (Vadic, DEC, etc.).

If the response warrants, I'll summarize to the net.
