                               MICROPROGRAMMING

"The Changing Role of Microprograming" is the theme of MICRO 18, the 18th
Annual Workshop on Microprogramming that will be held December 3-6, 1985 at the
Asilomar Conference Center, Pacific Grove, California. Keynote speaker, Glen
Langdon will discuss the current and future impacts of RISC type architectures
on microprogramming. The technical program is composed of formal sessions on
Microcode Tools, Microprogramming Languages, Control Stores, Microsequencers,
Microarchitectures and Microcode Development Experiences. Panel discussions
have been organized on the topics of Vertical Migration, Microarchitectures,
Operational Specification of Microprogrammed Architectures and Future
Directions on Microprogramming. Keeping with the workshop atmosphere, informal
sessions on Microprogramming Hacks and War Stories will be featured. A full
day tutorial proceeds the start of the Workshop.

As a special feature, the Monterey Aquarium has been reserved for the
traditional evening banquet. Attendees and their guests will be given a
