Purchase some HARDWOOD doweling the size (or slightly larger) than the holes left by the screws. 2. Bore out the holes to ensure a snug fit for the dowels. 3. After covering the dowels with roof tar, drive them into the holes. 4. Then liberally apply additional roof tar over the dowels. NOTE: If you drive the dowel in too low water will have a tendency to puddle over the dowel head, therefore, it is better to leave about 1/4" dowel above the roof line.
