When I first got on the net nine months ago, I had high hopes for the
quality of humor that would be on net.jokes. A little later I went through
a period of frustration. The quality was pretty bad.
Really though it has improved quite a bit since January (the worst since
I've been here). There are almost no form feeds, very few grade school
type jokes. Granted there is little humor of real distinction, but
think of it as digging through an ash can looking for parts of a sculpture.

We could all spend a few moments trying to come up with something really
creative and original, and consciously try to improve the quality of the
material here, people might follow our example.
But it could all be for naught since in two weeks, the net will have a
whole new batch of college, and prep-school people on for the very first
time.

If you really want to exchange original humor, why not just get a mail
list together of people that want to exchange it with each other. That way
you'll never have to read the net.jokes.
