Our illustrious state legislators have many times failed to pass compulsory insurance legislation. There are many, many, uninsured drivers here. To compound the insult, those of us who are insured pay an additional premium to cover being injured by an uninsured motorist. There must be something in the water down there in Springfield. -- Bill Tanenbaum - AT&T Bell Labs - Naperville IL ihnp4!ihlpg!tan /* End of text from convexs:net.legal */ Hate to hurt your feelings and let reality intrude, but here in Texas, it IS illegal to drive without liability insurance. In fact, it's a $200 fine if caught without your little card (dated, and saying you meet the state requirements for the specific auto you are driving). Of course, if you later go to court (after posting a $500-2000 bond if you want a court date instead of paying through the mail) and prove that you WERE insured, but just didn't have your card, the case will be dropped. Sound great? We still have exactly the same problems you mention above. Often from "undocumented workers" from across the border (Mexico), but not always... The bastards just won't let you live... blues, II
