Message-ID: <33@joevax.UUCP> Date: Mon, 5-Aug-85 18:49:15 EDT Article-I.D.: joevax.33 Posted: Mon Aug 5 18:49:15 1985 Date-Received: Mon, 12-Aug-85 00:14:11 EDT Organization: Bell Communications Research (Bellcore), Morristown, NJ Lines: 26 I'm interested in interfaces between MIDI devices and any computer or terminal with an RS-232 port. I know of (but little about) one called the MIDIC available from Hinton Instruments (168 Abington Road, Oxford OX1 4RA England, telephone Oxford (0865) 721731). There's a brief description of the MIDIC in the Summer 1985 issue of the Computer Music Journal,9(2), and some talk about Hinton's release of software for the MIDIC in the June 1985 issue of the IMA Bulletin (the newsletter of the International MIDI Association), but I've seen little else. A MIDI controller which can be used with any RS-232-equipped computer is very attractive; I don't mind writing software (in fact would rather write my own), but I hate the idea of being hardware-bound to a particular machine like the IBM-PC. So it sounds good on paper...but has anyone on the net seen or used MIDIC and/or similar devices? Thanks for any responses.
