I have been told that if by chance you lose a Hyperdrive volume (ie: it
refuses to mount) that it can be fixed by trying to delete it, and then
cancelling when the dialog box warns of losing files...

This happened to me and I managed to correct it without losing a single
file...

If anyone has had any experience with disk caches and the Hyperdrive,
I would like to hear from them. Specifically, is there a significant speedup,
how reliable is it, and will it work with switcher 4.0?
