In making a list of activities where being left-handed can be an advantage,
don't forget bowling!  (At the professional level, or at least the
competitive level.)  Since lefties are a minority, the left half of the
lane gets less use, and therefore (a) the oil pattern on the lane is less
spotty;  and (b) the wooden surface itself is less worn.  In both cases,
this produces a more consistent and predictable lane to bowl on.

     Sad to say, I'm a natural leftie who learned how to bowl (sob)
right-handed.  What a waste!  My average left-handed is still better than
one might expect, though, and friends tell me that I "look" much better
when I bowl left-handed than when I bowl right-handed, despite the score!
