Most people don't change that fast. I think part of the problem here is that I, and probably most people, grow on sort of a sawtooth graph, or (to steal the title of one of Chuck Swindoll's books) "Three Steps Forward, Two Steps Back". In other words, I will reach a new high point, then slip back from it, then move up again, often to a higher point. Thus any judgment that I haven't changed at all is inaccurate; the truth is that the changes have gone in both directions, and some of my articles appear at the lower points of the sawtooth curve. Surely I'm not unique in this? I would be inclined to suspect that most people's growth and development show a similar pattern. -- -- Jeff Sargent {decvax|harpo|ihnp4|inuxc|ucbvax}!pur-ee!pucc-h!aeq The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
