For the record (and not because I condone the actions of Dan White)
--and despite the inacccurate summaries of TV newscasters--
the "Twinkie Defense" as I read about it in the _newspapers_ (!)
consisted of the assertion that....

White's claim that he had a general history of being a slim, athletic
fellow.  That his personality had deteriorated in the weeks before he
shot the mayor and Milk.  That one objective sign of this psychological
instability was that he'd started gorging on Twinkies, stopped
exercising, and become quite pudgy.  He was going for limited liability
due to temporary almost-insanity--and got it.

Me myself, I've found I do get somewhat more irritable if I'm not on vitamin
B for about a day before my period starts.  And calm down immediately as
soon as the blood starts appearing.  Anyone else have this particular set
of symptoms?
