Unfortunately I don't have the original query, but I've often had a
perfectly good program fail with an 'out of memory' error while loading. 
Rebooting the machine almost always seems to clear it up. Must be some
random alteration of the 'kernel.'  This is the sort of thing that makes
one long for memory management and ECC.
