The most likely cause of this is simply that your mixture is
adjusted to be too rich. In english, this means that the 
gas/air ratio is too high. If your exhaust pipe is black this will
confirm this problem. When you back off, uncombusted gasoline
finds its way into the exhaust and the heat there causes the
unwanted flatulence. This will require a carburator adjustment.
Since I am a fuel injected hacker, I have no carb experience, but
it should be easy to find.
