  1.4 Million is not as outrageous as it may seem. If you are 21 years old
and make at least $25K a year then your lifetime earnings will probably
exceed that. If you are disabled to the point that you cannot work the rest
of your life because of someones negligence then that could be a fair 
settlement. You need more facts than the orginal poster provided.
