Regrading Emacs and flow control: Beware the DEC vt220. Is is just
slightly slower than a vt100 so carefully crafted Emacs padding
incites them to send ^S. After sending ^S, the vt200 LOCKS THE
KEYBOARD! It won't let you do anything until you type ^Q! The things
are clearly the product of some warped vi fan.
