Wish me luck. In article <3120@decwrl.uucp> you write: >As many/most/all of you know, there are 2 different versions of both >Anthem Of The Sun and Aoxomoxoa. For both albums, there is the originally >released version, and also a version remixed by Phil Lesh in 1970/71. > >Does anyone have any more information about this? > "Anthem Of The Sun": Not all of the remixed versions of this albums say so on the cover. All of the white cover versions and most of the purple cover versions you can find in stores are remixed versions. Only the early green label Warner Bros. (I don't remember exactly how to tell these apart except by sound) and the Japanese import pressings are of the unremixed version. I like the stereo mix better on the remix; it's generally cleaner and better balanced. However, I do miss some of the nifty sounds that were deleted on the remix. "Aoxomoxoa": All remixed versions have a note on the back saying that they are remixed. On virtually every song, something was cut from the remixed version. I really enjoy the unremixed version of Aoxomoxoa. "Mountains Of The Moon" just doesn't sound right without the angelic chorus singing behind Jerry! By all means, you should beg, buy, steal, or tape a copy of this unremixed version. -- -- Jim Salem Thinking Machines Corporation, Cambridge, MA ihnp4!think!salem, salem@think.com.arpa 617-876-1111
