Recently, the hard-disk on my ALTOS 586 went south (i.e., "quit").

One quote for a repair and upgrade to a 40 Mb hard-disk was
$3000.00!!!

Does anyone know of, or have had experience with, a less *costly*
method for upgrading/repairing the old 10 Mb Miniscribe hard-disk
to one of higher capacity. The 'do it yourself' method is OK.
