That story reminds me of a story that appeared in Billy Martin's book "Number
1". It seems that Billy and Mickey were traveling to Texas to hunt deer on
a large ranch that belonged to a friend of Mickey's. When they got there
Mickey told Billy to wait in the car, that he'd be right out after telling his
friend (the owner) they were going to do some hunting. The friend told Mickey
that he had no objections to Billy and Mickey hunting deer, but he had a sick
mule that was old and had been a good mule, etc. He asked Mickey if he could
shoot it for him, since he didn't have the heart to do it himself. Mickey
agreed. Mickey also was fond of a good practical joke, so he stormed out to
the car acting like he was very pissed off, and told Billy that his friend
didn't want them hunting on his property. Mickey went to the trunk and got
his shotgun out, and informed Billy that since his friend was acting like a
real asshole, he was going to go in the barn and shoot the first animal he
found. Billy was horrified, and told Mickey that he couldn't just shoot the
guy's animals. Mickey just loaded his gun and walked into the barn. He found
the mule, and *BANG* he shot it. All of a sudden he heard two more shots from
the other side of the barn and saw Billy unloading two cartridges from his
gun. "What the Hell are you doing?" Mickey shouted' Billy replied, "I got
two of his cows for you." The story ended with "Ah- that cost us some money."
