An alternative might be the Pioneer 5010 -- I bought one last Friday for $249, choosing it over the Technics PL-2 at $288 and the Sony ??-30 for $289. Don't kill me if those model numbers are wrong. The Sony wasn't programmable and the Pioneer doesn't show elapsed time. The Technics had all that, plus index selection (aside: how many disks have indexes?), but I didn't care for the track display or the size and location of the buttons as compared to the Pioneer. The Pioneer just seemed to be more of a precision machine. I particularly like the huge PLAY button. Experimenting with our REPOST function . . . Christopher J.
