You know what? Sometimes I just plain forget that if it's written down in
a book or if somebody does research about it then it's right! Golly gee
Batman, I guess we don't need to do the null experiment with the Skinner
Box after all! (Someone did recently do the experiment and his results
were the same as when the pigeons were rewarded - they like to peck)

There is also a music professor at MIT who claims that properly written and
played music (classical (but of course)) has a physiological effect on
an organism. (let's say Beethoven's 9th conducted by Furtwangler) Or even
on a rock.

In a randomly numbered article, hollombe@ttidcc.UUCP (The Polymath) writes:
>>[only people with warped minds need love and acceptance (they're unhappy when
>> they don't get it, so their minds must be warped, 'cause ya always can't
>> get what you want (paraphrased by me))]

>Some people have warped their minds to convince themselves they don't need
>the love and acceptance they think they can't get. Some hermits fall into
>this category as do many psychiatric patients. Again, see Harlow, et. al.

[so I changed what I said before to be what I really wanted to say, so shoot
me, so complain to my sa, so protest at my lab tomorrow (9aug)...]

Do you think it's the Right Thing for people to be unhappy when they don't
get this "needed" love and acceptance? Or to be unhappy when they can't
(or don't) get the physical affection they want?

By calling this a Need, you have the situation where people think they
can demand that they get their "quota", thereby placing unnecessary
pressures on others. Also, because they Know it is a Need, they feel
justified at getting upset/angry with others (or themselves) because
they don't do "their part" at helping to fill this Need.
