    I'm not sure if the Dead ever did a version, but you might have heard the
    Quicksilver Messenger Service version.  It's on their Happy Trails Album
    on Capitol records.  (QMS was yet another San Francisco band I believe).

BTW, Thorogood did an excellent version WITH BO DIDDLEY at Live Aid.
