I spent much of last night and several dollars trying to download files from Compuserve using XMODEM protocol and "receive file..." in MacTerminal. Things would work fine for several minutes until I would get the message "The file was not copied successfully." I'm sure a noisy phone line is to blame. [angered description of frustration goes here] What I want to know is if there is a better protocol to use than XMODEM, one that asks for packet retransmission rather than just giving up. I know kermit does this, but Compuserve doesn't have kermit! Please let me know of a more reliable means of downloading. I will need the program to run it as well (or I'll write one myself). I have heard of Compuserve's A and B protocol -- are these more reliable??? I need some assistance before I waste any more connect time charges. -- Terry Morse (408)743-1487 { seismo!nsc!cae780 } | { sun!sunncal } !leadsv!morse
