OK, the there is a bug in csh, because my .login contains:

	set path=(/usr/local/bin /bin /usr/bin /etc /usr/games .)

which sets my PATH to be:

	PATH=/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/etc:/usr/games:
