More details can be found among other places in the front section of Saturday's (7/6) Chicago Tribune. The prisoner explained that he was shanghaied into escaping, and that the guards made no attempt to prevent him from leaving the prison grounds. No escape charges have been filed against him, though the crux of his case will be that they "let him escape" (!). Don't be too hard on the guy, Robert; in this age of terrorism and hostage crises, a story like this is like a breath of fresh air. Perhaps Judge Moriarty should open a branch office.
