One day, a man was passing by a pet store on his way home from work.
He happened to look in the window of the store and saw an extremely
shaggy dog -- in fact, the shaggiest dog he had ever seen in his
whole life. He immediately decided to go into the pet store and buy
the dog.

As he was paying for the dog, he struck up a conversation with the
pet store owner: "Isn't this the shaggiest dog you ever did see?",
to which the owner replied, "Yep, that's the shaggiest dog I ever
did see. Y'know, you should take it to England and show it to the
queen." The man said, "I think I'll do just that."

On the way home, he met a lady pushing a stroller, and so he stopped
to admire her baby. He then pointed out his new dog to her, saying,
"Isn't this the shaggiest dog you ever did see?", to which she replied,
"Yes, that's the shaggiest dog I ever did see. You should take it to
England to show the queen." The man replied, "That's what I'm going
to do."

[Insert a recounting of his adventures in arriving home and showing his
wife the dog, buying airline tickets from a travel agency and showing
the agent the dog, getting on the plane and showing the flight attendant
the dog, . . ., customs official, . . ., London cabbie, . . ., each time
repeating the conversation (with appropriate variations):
"Isn't this the shaggiest dog you ever did see?"
"Yes, that's the shaggiest dog I ever did see. You should take it
to ______ to show the queen."
      "That's what I'm doing."
Finally he arrives at Buckingham Palace and manages to get an audience
with the queen.]

The man was escorted to the audience chamber and, as he walked along the
aisle to where the queen was seated, he spoke to courtiers on the left
and on the right, saying, "Isn't this the shaggiest dog you ever did see?"
They all replied, "Yes, that's the shaggiest dog we ever did see. It was
a good idea to bring it to show the queen."

Finally he arrived at the queen's seat, and, very nervously he said to her,
"Isn't this the shaggiest dog you ever did see?" The queen looked at the
dog and, after a moment's pause, she looked at the man and said:
               "No."
