First, my dictionary defines "idiom" as an accepted phrase or expression... the i++ construct is not only accepted by most C programmers but also by the compiler. Second, why would anyone want to chew up white space in an expression and give the mind more tokens to think about? The rest of the definition involes "having a meaning *different* than the literal". I can not think of a more literal definition than K&R did. The whole poin
