The systems support staff at the University of California, Berkeley
computer center is seeking a principal programmer to plan and implement
support for a developing network of VAXstation and Sun workstations 
connected to its central UNIX timesharing service.  This network of
UNIX machines is used for academic research and instructional programs.

Job duties include:

	Define, develop and implement support for a campus-wide network
	of UNIX workstations running 4BSD;

	Provide high level systems support and troubleshooting;

	Assist in the planning of long-range goals and objectives
	for UNIX service;

	Provide occasional on-call maintenance of production systems.

Substantial experience with UNIX (4BSD preferred) and C programming is
required. Experience with workstations and kernel expertise desirable.

Salary range $41,300-$50,000.
