Why not search everyones' houses to find illegal weapons, drugs, etc. Clearly this would be in society's best interest. Is it fair to search/accuse/assume_guilt of everyone too find the few who are guilty? This may be what the majority wants but it still seems to me to be a violation of the Bill of Rights.
