This helps to cut down on a lot of the noise that you get from the preamp section of most of these small decks. Another thing that we have found to be helpful is to use a 2nd tape deck (such as a stereo cassette deck) to bounce stereo mixes onto, and then we start the whole thing over with our previous material on the tracks 1 and 2 of the cassette.
