You're right -- there isn't nearly as much music by and for men as there is
by and for women.  There's some, though, even if it isn't easy to find.
Rose Records in Chicago has a men's music bin next to their women's
music bin.  Most of it is of the "contemporary folk songster" genre.  The
only artist I can think of off the top of my head is Charley Murphy, who I
once heard in concert at the Appleblossom Cafe in Ithaca, NY.  He might be a
place to start.

You might also try the catalogs for companies that specialize in
distributing independant labels, like Alcazar Music in Vermont.
