This "debate" has become so fragmentary and bogged-down in the appalling general acceptance of murder-as-justice that this will be my last posting to net.flame on the subject. I shan't sulk, I'll just take my case to a more rational, less inflammatory newsgroup. Before I do, I'm going to sum up by way of posting answers to the more salient points raised by my antagonists, just so's they'll know I was paying attention. That article will be long, so for those of you with an attention-span more suited to a Taco-Bell commercial, I'll state the bald assertions here. It's called an abstract (Can you say "abstract", flamers?) 1. The yearly death-toll through shooting incidents in this country is a tragic condemnation of its citizens' fitness to own guns. Their right and ability to do so should be curtailled. 2. It is not sufficient to justify the ownership of a gun on the grounds that it might be useful in self defence. 3. It is possible, as well as desirable, to enforce laws which limit the number of guns in circulation, both legal and criminal. It is further possible to monitor the whereabouts of legal guns. ------------------------------------ Charlie Lambert @ the Death Star, IL. "Violence is the last resort of a bankrupt intellect."
