I HATE IT. > You may hate it, but keeping an ear open is just plain good flying technique. I fly for a tv station here in austin Tx. and have over 5000 hours of time under my belt. Many times I will be flying along keeping my ears open to a center freq. or an app. con. freq. and hear them report my pos. to another aircraft. This helps me know there is another bird in my vicinity and could prevent a mid air.... ITS A GOOD IDEA TO LISTEN UP... even though you might not like it.
