(Chances are I would never marry a very low-salaried man, because (a) I don't think I could have a good relationship with someone who wasn't as educated as I am [what would we talk about if we couldn't talk about computers? :-)] and (b) my husband wouldn't like it. :-)) In fact, I would guess there are a lot more men who are unwilling to marry a woman who makes more than them than there are women who won't marry a man who makes less than them. In general, I think a woman who works would be secure enough that she really wouldn't care how much her husband made; a woman who doesn't work may feel differently, since she has no other means of support. (I could make a separate social commentary on why there are so many women who can't support themselves, but I won't here.) marie
