I thought I had better check on your number first though, since it seemed a little high. Since it is already illegal to plan to kill someone (we already have a law for that!) I'll take it that you are really talking about accidental deaths. According to the National Safety Council (1980 figures {the year you used}), drunk drivers killed 26,300 people, but since we aren't talking just killing large numbers of people but specifically killing people with guns, I won't go into that. Nor will we take on the next highest killer, falls. I haven't figured out yet what organization we can join to outlaw falls in the house, but there just has to be one, since 12,300 people were killed by falls. Humm.. The next one on the list is drowning. I'm working on my poster right now to go out and protest swimming pools! Lets see here, the next one down is "fire, burns" with 5,500 people killed. Now there is another miserable way to die. Got to outlaw matches if it's the last thing we do! At least we should register them! Finger greping further down the page we find the next killer... Poisons. 4,300 people were accidentally poisoned. Should be a law against that, or maybe there is. We're getting close now, here is the next killer, suffocation by ingested objects. That killed 3,100 people in 1980. I say we get rid of McDonalds right now! And while we're at it let's take out Wendys. Ah ha! Here it is! Death by firearms, 1,800 people. Now don't get me wrong Charles, that is still a sad statistic, but let's put it in perspective. Phil Gunsul -- AT&T Information Systems -- (312) 859-4485
