Engineering Computing Center Lines: 28 Keywords: AT&T 3B20, cheap, reliable Here at ukecc we just recently installed an AT&T 3B20. So as to better communicate with the outside world, we have 6 telephone lines available for dialing in/out. All we need are some decent modems. We plan on purchasing the Basic Networking Utilities software package from AT&T. We would appreciate any and all comments/suggestions/recomendations on good (hopefully cheap) modems. Currently we are using a (borrowed) USR Password which seems to work OK except that it sends out this annoying CONNECT message when it gets a carrier. (It sends it out the serial port, not the phone line) I personally like the Prometheus Promodem 1200, but they cost about $50 more than the Password. What is in use out there in the rest of netland and what is good and what is bad? All comments welcome! Please mail correspondence to... -- Edward C.
