For those not knowing, Professor Raj Krishna died a few weeks ago in Rome at the
age of 59.  He was educated at Dehli University & at the University of Chicago.
He was considered an expert in agricultural economics and specialised in the
study of employment and conditions of poverty in Third World countries. A senior
professor at the Delhi School of Economics, he was a member of the Planning Com-
mission from 1977 to 1979.  Professor Krishna was in Rome on a three-month FAO
research project.
			

Dr. Krishna participated in the INDIA 2000 program(me) at the University of
Texas/Austin in February 1985.  Anyone who would like to contribute any inform-
ation on Dr. Krishna's life and achievements please send the details to me and
I will include them as part of a mini-biography of Dr. Raj Krishna which I will
post in the near future or if someone else desires to post it then I will pass
this information to him/her upon request.
