This is not at all true. Generally, a few more attractive women
get the bulk of the attention, while the rest of the women are
more or less ignored.

If it is true that women sever the relationship more often than men,
it is because of the traditionally passive role women play in courting.
Men make the offers, and women accept or reject them. A woman may
continue to receive and reject new offers while she is committed to
an exclusive relationship. The man in an exclusive relationship,
on the other hand, may not extend offers to other women without risk
of destroying the relationship he has. Also, since the man extended
the offer in the first place, he may feel guilty if he later withdraws it.
It may be easier to simply act like a bum until the woman gets fed up,
and tosses him out.

But once the relationship is over, the man and woman have equal opportunities.
That is, no relationship may develop without MUTUAL agreement. A woman may
flirt with any man she chooses, but that doesn't mean any will follow up and
ask her out. Likewise, a man may ask out any woman he chooses. That doesn't
mean any of them will accept.
