Ah, here we get to the heart of the matter! It depends on where you went
to college, of course; and that is what distinguishes the "good" from
the "bad" colleges, I guess.

Where I went to college (Davidson) the psychology majors were required to
take biology. A good many of them took "The Sage"'s (Jerry Putnam) course
"comparative anatomy," which covered what you call "evolutionary theory".
This was because of something called "area requirements," designed to
insure you were "well rounded". It was rumored that other colleges did not
have these, but this was considered just incidental news.

On the other hand, in those days I majored in "Biological Science," also
called by the more sinister name of "Premedicine," and did things the
opposite way; whereas I took many courses in what you call "organismal
biology", genetics, and the above Putnam course, I also had to take
Psychology courses. (But not enough for a major. I used up all my
optional-type credits taking >>> English! <<<. This was so I would not
end up writing like Talcott Parsons.)

They always told us that the curriculum was "better" there than at other
places, but I always figured that was just fallout from the "blue sky
policy". I guess maybe not... I think any MS program that does not give
its psychology students a good well-rounded background isn't doing a
particularly good job... though it should have done it in the undergraduate
days.

So, I still stand by my position, too! It is like that Dr. Seuss story,
in which the two creatures would not move left or right, and so were stuck.
But that's OK... I am tired of arguing, and will just goto sleep here,
standing in the pink arctic snow (the result of the cat in the hat I guess).
