Doug,
 the 40 pin socket is the access to the Model 100 System Bus.
 The 28 pin socket is used for an optional ROM.  Sorry..

A service manual is available for the Maodel 100 From Radio Shack. Ask for
 26-3801/3802 Service Manual.  Additional RAM is easy to install. See ads 
in Model 100 magaine....
