I make it a personal policy not to get romantically  involved  with  people
who  work or live where I do.  If past experience is anything to go by this
policy has saved me, and others, a lot of grief. (Example:  What happens if
the  relationship goes sour but you still have to see and/or work with each
other every day?).

One good place to meet other techies is at  the  assorted  conferences  and
seminars  that  seem to be held almost constantly across the nation and the
world.  I've met a number of MOTOS at  IEEE  Tutorial  Week,  for  example.
This  can lead to geographic problems, though these are lessened if you can
find a local seminar or conference.
