I believe this program did a nlist on some dz_tty and read kmem for the tty structure of a certain tty, then read the tty queues till it got what it wanted. Of course I don't want to steal passwords, but I have an application that needs to read the tty queues in a similiar way, so I'd like to see how this pgm did it before I reinvent the wheel. I don't know what group it was posted to, since I've just heard various references to it. Thanks in advance. Pat Iurilli Bell Communications Research Piscataway, NJ {allegra, ihnp4}!pyuxqq!pat
