Dana S. Nau: That sounds sexist to me.

Frank Silbermann: It is sexist, and often true.

I have observed this while listening to my (now ex-)girlfriend
talking to her friends. I admit, the sample size IS ridiculously
small. Touche'.

What's insulting about that? It's true. It drives me up a wall,
sometimes. I've been advised several times that if I want to
advance in business, I had better start following the teams.
Now that I'm back in school, I can meet enough other weird people
who find other topics more interesting.

You introduce a very important issue here. Once out of school,
a person must make a deliberate and assertive effort to meet
people. Shyness can be a BIG problem for men and women, alike.
I hope other readers pick up on this, as it sounds like an
interesting topic.

In fact, my singles-bar buddy advised me not to worry that the
male-female ratio was so high. He said that six out of seven
men are too shy to approach the few women there, anyway.
