There are a lot of teachers these days who don't care about how much their students are learning -- all they care about is how far away they are from retirement, or promotion to principal, etc. For these reasons, as well as others, the quality of pre-college education has gone down in the past ten years. -- Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.
