The "postnews" process saves copies of an account's postings in a file
called "author_copy", unless this feature is turned off or modified with
the NEWSARCHIVE variable. The posting mechanism in "rn", however, does
NOT save copies in this way (at least it doesn't on two hosts I've tried
it on). Is this intentional, or a bug, or was something just never
turned on right in the "rn"s I have used?

I have tried explicitly setting "NEWSARCHIVE" to "author_copy"; this
seemed to do nothing in "rn".

Is there a reason why "rn" would be designed not to continue using the
same user files that postnews used? I would think the continuity would
be desirable.

What should a user do to make "rn" save copies in "author_copy" (or
whatever file is desired)? What should a news administrator do to make
this be the default for his/her site?

Regards, Will
