I think what Frank meant by 'continue to receive and reject new offers'
                                                     ^^^^^^
was that the woman would have men asking her out, which wouldn't disturb
the relationship - as long as she did not accept any of their offers. Thus,
she would have a selection of guys who are interested in her available if
her current relationship goes sour (assuming of course that she wants to be
courting/having a relationship). On the other hand, since very few women
ask men out, the man would only be able tell if a women is interested in
him (ie. in a relationship way) by dating her - which tends to do funny
things to relationships. So for all he knows, his current SO may be the
only one around which is interested in him, and as such he doesn't want to
lose her. (Naturally you know that there will always be another fish in the
sea, but you may not find it for a long time - just re-read some of the old
postings by the guys on this net.)

hmmm. if you are dating others (besides your SO) then it can't be an
exclusive relationship and so what was said probably doesn't hold.
