I would like to correct a recent comment on Xerox interest in
encouraging non-Xerox Interpress printers.

Xerox actively encourages the implementation of Interpress by
manufacturers of both creation/workstation devices and output devices,
including printers and phototypesetters. Indeed, the June 24
announcement included a number of printer and printer controller
businesses.

Xerox does not license printer implementations, and therefore does not
charge the significant licensing and royalty fees associated with such a
business. Xerox does, however, offer training, consulting, and
implementation aids to interested companies so that they can create and
control their own implementations. Such support is available to any
company, regardless of its product plans.

Anyone who is interested in better understanding Xerox support of
Interpress should feel free to contact me directly by electronic mail or
by phone (415 496-6088). I will be glad to answer your questions.
