COMPUTER SPECIALIST, Kewalo Basin Marine Mammal Laboratory, half-time or
full-time depending on applicant skills, federal funds, to begin
approximately July/August, 1985 for one year with possible extention to 3
years dependent upon satisfactory performance and availability of funds,
continuation dependent upon satisfactory performance and availability of
funds.  Minimum Salary:  $1400/mo. (full-time).  Duties:  Individual assists
in ongoing laboratory research on communication and cognition in bottlenosed
dolphins.  Specific duties to include data management and data processing on
microcomputers, using data-base management systems; development of
special-purpose software for real-time laboratory control and analysis of
experiments; use of main-frame computers at UH for extended data analysis.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related
field; knowledge of data-base systems for use in micros; ability to program
efficiently in one or more languages; experience in writing effective
software.  Additional Desireable Qualifications: Master's degree in computer
science or related field; knowledge of structured programming languages.
