The responses to my request for troff support for the VARITYPER 6400
were completely under-whelming: Only 1. (Thanks David!)

The results were that Varityper themselves were working on a device
independent Troff filter a couple years ago, but information from
Varityper's sales force is that the project was completely dropped,
and no such thing is now available. I also had a pointer to the manager
in charge of the project, but he was always "out of the office", or
"in a meeting", and never returned my calls; So I have no firm information
about why the project was dropped, or if there might still be some
resurectable fragments available somewhere.

Conclusion: Troff on a Varityper? Forget it.	(sigh)
