View, CA Lines: 9 If I remember correctly, the US Navy shelled the hills around Beruit for a couple of weeks before the Marines were attacked with the truck bomb. Recently, I saw a piece in the SF Chronical that indicated that the villages shelled were Shiite. I remember TV pictures of destroyed houses but I can't remember casualty figures. I think it was in the hundreds, and I know the guns weren't spotted very well and therefore were probably pretty inaccurate. In any case, if anyone knows how many Shiites were killed and wounded or lost their homes to US naval gunfire I think the net might be interested. It's obviously relevant to the recent hijacking.
