we have reworked man to use a dbm database, its much faster. the database
also knows about internal names ( for example the "string(3)" entry has many
internal names, strcat, strncat etc ) and "man strncat" will do a man of
string.

if there is enough requests i can post a diff ( copyrighted sources etc ).
