         The 10,000+ handgun-related deaths figure does not count
       the number of victims who lived, which is also easily in
       the thousands. Sometimes a near-fatal wound is worse than
       a fatal one. Of these 10,000+, I wonder how many people
       were protected or how many "bad guys" were shot. Having
       9,000+ wrongful deaths to safeguard the few cases of
       legitimate protection is a pretty stupid situation.

         Sadly, the situation will never be corrected in this
       country.
