While I am not plagued with much of the meddling and bureaucracy here at
Mayfield that I might expect to find at a public school, burnout is still a
problem. The stress is real - and the more you try and the more you care,
the easier it is to feel (at least at times) taken for granted - perhaps
even taken advantage of.

Solutions are not easy. Some steps include recognizing that teachers are
making a sacrifice - they sacrifice their time and energy - they shouldn't
have to sacrifice pay as well. Another thing that would help would be if
teachers were accorded somewhat greater respect by the public. This is a
difficult job - and we all remember some of the bad teachers that we had -
all the more reason to give greater support to the good teachers that are
out there now.

Overall, I've been lucky - but not all teachers are so fortunate. Face it
folks, you *NEED* us. All I'm asking is that you support us.

Cheers...
