Ma'am, I find #1 kind of hard to believe, unless it is the result of #2.
However, I can understand #2, since in graduate school you must take courses
like Queueing Theory, Performance Evaluation, Systems Simulation, etc.,
all of which require the calculus... I suspect Numerical Analysis does too,
but that's one course I avoided, being a logician.

Recall, I originally said that I thought the calculus should be taught
DIFFERENTLY, not not taught.  It really is fairly interesting if taught
right.
