Steve is correct in that theologians are allowed speculation in those
non-infallible areas.  My concern was with theologians who teach and
promulgate doctrines which contradict the Magesterium and when they have
been censured have refused to accept the teaching authority of the Church.

The theologian has TWO responsibilities the greater of which is fidelity
to the Magesterium.

Granted there is a fine distinction between speculation and heresy at times.
