I have a FT757 and I didn't buy the RS232 interface. The interface is only
a level translator and can be replaced by a diode, transistor, and a
resistor. I have made such a thing and it works very well.(see one of
the later issues of 73 for a circuit) The commands that you use to talk
to the interface are all explained in a book, that should have come with
the interface called "Technical Supplement". If it didn't come with the
radio you can get one from yeasu for $5.00 and a copy of your sales slip.
If you have lost the sales slip then it will cost you $15.00. This book
also includes schmetics, parts list, board layout, and calibration infor-
mation. Hope this was some help.
