I don't know anything about the PC-8, but the only boom box I've every
seen that sounded good is Bose's boom box.  Unfortunately, it's not in
the same price range.  It costs about $700.  But it is FANTASTIC
sounding!  As good as any stereo system I've ever heard.  (No, I haven't
heard any $10,000 CJ, Spectral, Electron Kinetics golden ear systems!)
It sounds as least as good as my stereo (Onkyo A7070 integrated amp and
Bose 901 speakers).  Unfortunately, they are not sold in stores -- you
have to get them directly from Bose, but if you live in certain areas,
they will come and give you a demo in your own house.
