The two time periods were *not* in different seasons of the series, but
rather were interspersed; time travel was just part of what made the series
so neat. Most of the actors actually played two different characters, their
contemporary selves and their ancestors (Dr. Julia Hoffman and her ancestor
Magda (a gypsy!), Maggie Evans and Josette Dupres, etc). Notable exceptions
to this rule were Barnabas and Angelique, neither of whom aged (and so they
were the same person in the 1750's and the 1970's, though dressed slightly
differently).

All in all, a very fun series.

(Incidentally, David Selby (who played Quentin Collins) has gone on to other
work now; he's apparently on one of the late-night soaps (Dynasty?).
Also, Kate Jackson has gone on to do two prime-time series (Charlie's Angels
and Scarecrow and Mrs. King).

Kathryn Leigh Scott (Maggie/Josette) appeared a while back in an episode of
a cop-show parody whose name escapes me; it was by the same guys who did
"Airplane" and featured Leslie Neilsen.

(It's *amazing* how much I remember!)
