I meant to cancel and instead sent my last posting to you. Ah well, I'm not an engineer. Sometimes I get lost down a black hole here with the terminal and have to call over one of the guys to fish me out. My VT220 may be user friendly but it's not stupid proof! On to business! You mentioned "four unarmed ones (hippies) were shot down in cold blood when the Ohio national guard rioted at Kent State." Well, hyperbole surely. Do you really know what 'cold blood' means? Read Truman Compost's novel of that name. Are you still fighting the war???? Why the cant still on your lips? I mean, it is very clear what happened. The crowd of screaming angry students were coming toward the guard (who were just young weekenders themselves - one of the critisms of the probe about it) and the guard lost it and someone fired and the rest followed suit. It shouldn't have happened. But hardly a riot by the guard. I mean one would have thought there would have been much more than one short volley if it WERE a guard riot, no? But perhaps the facts don't fit your world view. Very few memorials are raised to mistakes. There was blame on both sides for what happened. A lot of good came out of it. Isn't it unfortunate that someone has to pay, often dearly, before the right procedures are put into place? Besides, the 'hippies' of the '60s and '70s are now all in good jobs with cars and homes to pay for and just reeking of bourgeois values. Those who haven't lost it to drugs, AIDS and the rest of the moral fly paper of those times, that is. Why I'll just bet that many of them are in the Moral Majority! Doesn't that just toast your mind. Do you wear your hair in a pony tail still? Regards, Ken Arndt
