I've been kind of amazed by the discussion on asking about
birth control. The more long term effects an action can have,
the more careful people should be. Since sex can and does have
long term consequences, making sure that everything is hunky-dory
before you start seems like simple common sense. When i use
a power tool, i make SURE that the wrench is out before i plug
the saw in. If you use power tools a lot and want to keep all
your fingers, you have to keep you mind on what you are doing.

If you want to have an active sex life and don't want to have
surprise children you have to keep you mind on what you are doing.
If people are mature enough to have sex they are mature enough
to plan it before hand and be prepared. Not planning ahead because
it "spoils the romance" or some such folderol is primafacie evidence
that somebody is too young (mentally) to be having sex.
