For a fairly exhaustive study of clitoridectomy and other genital mutilations,
consult Chapter 2 of Edwardes, Allen & R. E. L. Masters, The Cradle of Erotica:
A Study of Afro-Asian Sexual Expression & an Analysis of Erotic Freedom
in Social Relationships; New York: The Julian Press, 1963 (L/C CC No. 62-121126)
(362 pp.; bibliography).

This book is not for the squeamish in sexual matters, or for those who take any
offense at racial bigotry and stereotyping, but it details matters that I have
not seen presented elsewhere. It draws heavily on Arabic, Indian and European
sources not generally available to most readers.
