On the news last night (2/25/84) there was some mention of Kurzweil's
keyboard.  According to the program, Stevie Wonder challenged Kurzweil
to design it.  The show also said that he used 'pattern recognition'
to get the life-like sounds.  What I'd like to know is how one might
adapt pattern recognition to sound synthesis to produce better
sounding stuff.  Kurzweil demoed it a bit, and we heard the piano
sound which sounded very good, and a choral sound that sounded
very much like a human chorus.
