In fact, the reference it makes to the origins of that planet (Ganymede?) seemed to me to be a bit of a sop to the publishers. "See if you can tie in the other stuff. It'll help the book sell." "Escape Velocity" stands very well on its own, without leaning too heavily on the Warlock stuff. It DOES record the adventures of the Warlock's ancestors (a couple of greats-grandfather).
