For anyone interested in propagating plants from seeds or cuttings, or
by layering, grafting and budding, there is available an excellent reference --

        HandBook on Propagation
(Special printing of "Plants & Gardens" Vol. 13 No.2 #24)

published by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Inc., 1000 Washington Ave.,
Brooklyn, N.Y. 11225.

I followed its instructions on camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons and
had a 50% success rate on cuttings, 30% on air layerings, and 80% germination
rate from camellia seeds. Not bad for a novice.
