nuclear war is but one way of getting killed.  Modern society has many other
ways, most notably is the auto.  why worry about being creamed by a warhead
when you have better odds of being creamed on the highway.

I myself believe one should live life to the fullest, and not be preoccupied
with fate or death at all. Some people would be better off if they did this.
