I came to America about a year ago. I had a mind to buy an American car, as
it would probably the only chance I would ever have of owning one. I looked
and looked for an American car that I liked. I only had about $10000 to
spend so the Corvette I liked very much was somewhat out of my price range.
After going round many dealers who showed me lots of cars, I wondered if I
would ever find one which was even partly loaded for the money. In the end
I gave up and started looking at Japaneese cars. What a breath of fresh air.
The cars were nearly always fully loaded as standard, the interiors of the
cars were no where near as bland, and on the hole they looked better ( In
MY opinion) than the other cars that I had looked at.
Needless to say I opted for a Japaneese car (84 Mitsubishi Cordia LS). I
was some what disapointed that I could not find a domestic car that I liked
enough to be happy with for two years (the length of time I will be here).
I have driven many domestic cars, I have enjoyed driving them for a short
period of time, but would not want ANY of them for more than two weeks.
Maybe part of the reason is that I am used to the European style of car.
Most of them have, like the Japaneese cars, many options as standard. That is
one reason why there are a lot of Japaneese cars in Britain.
I will say as a final note that I have owned several cars, all but my last
one prior to comming to the States (a Fiat Strada) were Fords. A 1966 Ford
Cortina MK1, 1971 Ford Capri GT, and a 1974 Ford Capri L.
Why can't Ford USA make cars as well as Ford UK??????????

This posting is very biased against the US domestic cars. NO FLAMES PLEASE.
