I'm having a problem with tip on 4.2 bsd. It seems that when the remote
system hangs up, the program still thinks there is a connection. To
close, I have to do an explicit "~.". Somehow, I remember that with
4.1 cu, as soon as the other side hung up, the program knew it and quit.
I'd like the users to have to know as little as possible to use tip.

What's the problem? Is there a problem, or is that the way it's supposed
to work? Does anyone have a fix? Thanks in advance.
