For long songs with many mood changes, certainly Pink Floyd has to win 
the prize in my mind.  Especially the "Buring Man" album (Wish You Were 
Here).  There are two long versions of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"-- 
one on each side.  

Actually, the entire first side is one piece of music, even though
it is physically divided into tracks.

Pink Floyd does a lot of that.
