The very first separation should be US DOMESTIC issues from EVERYTHING ELSE. There should be no such group as net.politics.us. Either leave net.politics alone, or start with: US domestic net.politics.us-dom [or perhaps us-us] international net.politics.world [or us-them? :-) ] So Craig's example goes in net.politics.world. You know, if this split happened, I might even start reading (part of) net.politics again. No comments about 14-character names, please; the net decided some time ago not to worry about total length of newsgroup names, e.g. net.religion.christian. Actually, I have an alternative proposal, but I don't think it would work too well. That's to use the usa distribution, and create usa.politics for US domestic issues. In Canada we have can.politics and not net.politics.can, and it works fine. But I don't think the net is quite ready for a real live usa.* group... and besides, some people outside the US are interested in its domestic politics, which is more or less untrue of Canada. > What do you expect?
