Just what does India have in common with {China, Japan, Korea, ...}?
Something, to be sure, but probably no more than Greece has with the
British Isles. Yet the cultural/ethnic newsgroups that have been created
on the net so far are net.nlang.celts and net.nlang.greek, not
net.nlang.europe.{celts,greek}.

I say that Asia is too broad a topic to merit a newsgroup. The proposal
for a newsgroup related to matters Indian came from two Indians, and I
suspect that if they'd wanted to include all of Asia in the proposal
they'd have done so.

As for the other Asian cultures, I think that newsgroups to discuss them
would be great, too, provided you can demonstrate that a large enough
constituency exists. Until then, feel free to start any
cultural/ethnic/linguistic discussions you'd like in net.nlang. I, for
one, will be looking forward to them.
