The following was written for Unixterm, which also emulates a VT-52 terminal.
It isn't likely to work as is, since you have a different VT-52 emulation
package, but it should give you some idea of what's required:

alias c64 "setenv TERMCAP /mntb/1/lawrie/miller/.c64;setenv TERM c64;set term = c64;stty -tabs"
