The intention was not the 'exploration of fascinating cultures ' . It was to provide a forum for the discussion of topics which might be of interest to people with an Indian background or some interest in the Indian political/sports/educational/etc.. scene . This alone would , I am sure , be enough discussion material to warrant a news group . I certainly do not think that the group could support the peoples of South America , China Africa and the Middle East too . Please keep in mind that you are referring to more that 2/3 of mankind's nations and cultures . Moreover , I fail to see how some detail of Indian sports like the induction of a new player into the Indian cricket team would be of any interest to you or any other people interested in the exploration of 'fascinating cultures and nations ' . Information of this sort would , on the other hand be of great interest to a person with an Indian background . Probably , we need a seperate net.explore.nation ( or continent if we want to be really general ) Narendran Nachiappan [ naren@ut-sally.ARPA ]
