Message-ID: <385@unisoft.UUCP> Date: Fri, 11-Jan-85 12:16:07 EST Article-I.D.: unisoft.385 Posted: Fri Jan 11 12:16:07 1985 Date-Received: Sun, 13-Jan-85 08:50:22 EST References: <199@aluxp.UUCP> Organization: UniSoft Corp., Berkeley Lines: 27 (gobble...) Does anyone out there have any info on the mac internals (hardware) I have read the DDJ fat-mac upgrade article and intend to do just that as soon as I can afford it. But it would be nice to be able to run those programs that will depend on having 512k heap as well as having a RAM-disk. I intend to also put in another 512k for use as a RAM-disk (at $250-300 its cheaper than another floppy and far far far faster...). What I want to know is the following - How does the mac drive its ram chips, in particular what to the SEL A and SEL B lines do. - Where in memory is free, it seems that there must be a lot of double mapping going on. - Can the power supply handle the extra load (it should be able to after all it powers the second floppy) - Will I need a extractor fan, things get pretty hot alread, esp near the analog board... Also wouldn't it be nice to have a CMOS/bubble memory 'disk' inside the Mac with battery backup ... Thanks in advance Paul Campbell ZL4TFW(ex) ..!dual!unisoft!pc
