Don't be afraid to admit interest in Fortran! Somebody has to use it.

I have had a go at MacFortran (from Absoft Corp, 4268 N Woodward, Royal Oak,
MI 48072). It is a fairly complete Fortran 77 implementation, with some of
the annoyances of Fortran 77 included (e.g. Cannot equivalence an array of
integer*1 to a character string). It is disk based so there does not seem
to be any problems with compiling large programs. It is quite fast. It
produces stand-alone Macintosh applications. It has very limited access to
the toolbox - not really designed for writing Mac style programs with
windowing etc - however, you can do graphics, and if you have a Fortran 77
program to get running then this one will probably do the job quite nicely.
Cost: $295.

I haven't tried the other Fortran which runs under ther p-system, but I
hate to think of having my Fortran programs unable to read Macintosh files.
