I am currently involved in a LDR as you call it.  I have found that
it has some "benifits".  For one thing, it will build strength in
the relationship (and both parties).  It will also show you if there
is anything to the relationship, or that the relationship is just
one of conveniance.

As far as tips on how to keep them going, if there is a common goal
that both parties are working toward, that will keep the
relationship  "going".  If not, it will be best for the relationship
to end anyway.
