The framers of the Constitution, at the time the bill of rights (first 10
amendments) was adopted, were worried that the enumeration of certain rights
by the bill of rights might seem to imply that rights not enumerated in the
Constitution might be trampled.  In an attempt to prevent that from happening,
one of the amendments they included with the bill of rights was the following:

"The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not
be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."

The right to keep and bear arms is one of those being kept by the people....
