=> Nice, snobbish friends you have, pal. So there *is* something wrong with
=> married people, then?

Yes. They (along with people having a "steady") often have
much less time to spend with even their GOOD friends, much less
finding time to get to know new ones.

=> The point was that the ring can serve as a "parasite repellent" when someone
=> wants nothing beyond another notch on his bedpost.

It can also serve as a repellant to people interested in meeting you and
becoming friends--those who feel married people often don't have the time to
make the investment in friendship worthwhile.

=> BTW, I am not averse to striking up
=> an *intelligent* conversation with a male in a bar, but the sad fact is that
=> these are few and far between.

I sincerely hope you meant that intelligent men are few and far between
IN BARS (and with some of the bars I've been to, I'd have to agree--maybe
you go to the wrong bars? :-))

=> Furthermore, I never said I *frequent* these places. Where in the h*ll did
=> you get that one?

He didn't. He just said that people who frequent such places are not likely
to be there just for the atmosphere. Reread the original posting.

=> It seems to me that someone's preference for privacy at a supposedly private
=> table...

At a PUBLIC bar? :-)

=> After all, what is there to judge my by besides pretty face, nice body,
=> clean hair? Certainly I don't have a mind, sense of humor, or emotions.

Of course you do; next time you're in a bar, wear these on the outside.
Then people won't have to bother to get to know you enough to find out.
