I agree that if you go to Finland you shouldn't make Rovaniemi your final destination in the north. Take for example a bus from Rovaniemi to Kilpisjarvi and then from there along the Norwegian coast to Alta (possibly also to Hammerfest or North Cap if you like to be able to say that you were there) and then return to Rovaniemi via Tana, Utsjoki, and Ivalo (or still further in the east via Neiden and Ivalo). Along the road make several stops, fish trout or salmon, and participate in at least one organized overnite hike to the fells.
