Please explain to me how assaults, rapes, and murders are going to generate
significant income to the perpetrator of the crime. It hardly seems that a
person could live on the proceeds of such acts.

Also, while it is highly likely that some people who turn to crime do not
have access to the same educational facilities as those of us who are not
criminals, there is also a question of motivation. If these people can't
be bothered to take advantage of the facilities they *do* have, the best
facilities in the world can't help them. Let's face it-- there are some
people who get money by preying on other people because: 1) it's easier
than getting an education and/or attempting to better yourself so as to
be able to get and hold a job, and 2) the idea that crime is morally wrong
is completely foreign to them (or if they know it, they don't care, which
is worse).

It is certainly true that there is potential to change society to provide
better opportunities for people, but people have got to be willing to work
at taking advantage of those opportunities. You can't expect society to
just hand it to you on a silver platter.
