Long before herpes made the mass media as a *WOW* *Sexually Transmitted
Disease*, people had herpes. They just called them cold sores. A real
common way to get it was through having your diapers changes when Mom
had a cold sore. Nobody made such a hell of a big deal about it at the
time. But now, thanks to media hype, herpes is a *BIG PROBLEM*. Mikey
should move to another school. Everybody should stop reading and
writing stories of ``how herpes ruined my life''.

Next misconception -- there are a lot of people I know who had
no/few frinds in childhood. I am one of them. This does not ruin
your life, either. It does not make you hate the human race any more
than people who have firends often end up hating the human race. It
tends to make you more empathetic, which is a good thing. Every fat,
ugly, intelligent or pimply kid gets ostracised in school to some
extent. Some people get ostracised totally. We don't all end up like
Woody Allen. Eventually you get old enough so that you can shop
around for friends, and when Mikey gets old enough he can meet
me and a lot of my fiends who have discovered the wonderful truth
that *it ain't such a big deal to have herpes*.
