I'm about to open your eyes. Some states are ready to pass mandatory seat belt laws. They really don't care if you go flying through the wind shield or not. Its just another reason to make BIG BUCKOS! Secretary of Transportation said in a news conference last summer that the federal government will repeal the air bag law if more states pass mandatory seat belt laws. Well General Motors, Ford and Lee Iacoca jumped on this and put pressure on state governments. Keep those car prices down. The states said "I'll bet we can make some BUCKS out of this, what we need is another LAW!" Each states can probably nail one million motorist a year for not wearing a seat belt. At $50 bucks a crack ($50 X 1,000,000= $50,000,000) thats BIG BUCKS! Calif. went a bit further with a mandatory child car seat law. Any child under 50 lbs not in a state approved seat the driver gets a $50 fine. There is one loop hole though. Fatten your child up before you get to court. Big brother is intruding more and more into our private lives. We ought to take a look at each law and make sure there is no PROFIT MOTIVE in it. Well you say that the state and federal governments don't care about profit. Think again. What other corporation you know makes $900 BILLION dollars a year. The federal government is the biggest monopoly in our lives. Not many corporations make $33 billion dollars a year as Calif. does. I believe many laws are passed just to raise revenue but diguised as laws for our benifit. We won't lose our liberties all at once. If we did all of us would react at once. even in this great country we could lose our liberty little by little. One day we'll wake up and all liberty we be gone. We need less laws. Less government in our lives.
