The most recent issue of PC WEEK (1984 Year in Review) describes a
new laser printer to be manufactured by Konica, the Japanese photography
company. The printer is Konica's own design and is said to be faster and
more durable then several of the small laser printers now on the market
that use the Cannon print engine. Prices, when announced, are expected
to be in the range of $3500 to $4000 for the low-end model with the
ability to add a more advanced adaptor for bit-mapped graphics. This
news is significant in that it affirms many peoples notion of the
direction printers and printing methods are heading towards. Having
used Konica cameras and Hexanon lenses for many years I am more than
eagerly awaiting the release of this new product. I am also sure that
as more units are released and prices drop more and more people will
begin using laser printers.
