A posting to net.rec and net.news.adm asks for a group to talk about Pacific
Northwest mountain hiking, etc.

We've had a "seattle.general" set up for quite some time now with absolutely
no traffic at all. (I don't think there are any Washington state Usenet
sites outside of the Seattle area). I believe that we also set up a "pnw"
distribution at the same time (but I don't remember if we managed to
convince the Oregon sites to add it). Again, I've seen no use.

Now, admittedly a group about these mountains could be of interest but is
there any hard evidence whatsoever that the group actually fills a need
(i.e., that people will use it).

Incidentally, the proper place for this discussion is net.news.group. If
you follow up, please remove net.rec and net.news.adm when doing so.
