       Assistant Specialist in Automated Education
               (CERL System Software Staff)

The Computer-based Education Research Laboratory of the 
University of Illinois has a full-time Assistant Specialist
in Automated Education position open on the CERL System
Software Staff.

DUTIES: architectural design of improvements and
modifications to PLATO computer-based education systems;
design, implementation and documentation of functional
modules of PLATO systems; solving software and hardware
problems encountered in the operation of PLATO systems.

QUALIFICATIONS: experience with computer-based education
(CBE), system design and development, mainframe and micro
computers, assembly and high-level languages, and computer
networking desired. The ability to work on own initiative
and to cooperate within a group of 10-20 people is
necessary. Familiarity with the TUTOR CBE programming
language, programming CDC Cyber computers using COMPASS, and
programming Motorola M68000 systems using assembler and
Pascal is desirable.

SALARY: Commensurate with achievements and ability. The 
position is available immediately; the starting date is
negotiable.
