Sierra Summit, [formerly China Peak] E of Fresno Weather conditions: clear, some wind on ridges, temps: evenings in 20s day time in low 40s. Snow conditions: 3 ft base, 6 inches new from Wednesday. Current conditions, surface hoar and wind crust in certain exposures, sugar underneath Wax for X-C: purple stick glider, red kicker; solid red if you are climbing up any hills Downhill wait: 10 minutes max on worst lines. Went skiing at 1am - 4 am in the moon light [forgot my headlamp]. Really nice skiing. It occured to me that I should try my headlamp with a red filter like astronomers. The white light spoils the eyes for seeing snow crystals glistening in the moon. Leading a trip to Squaw Valley next weekend for someone. I will attempt to ski to the Bradley Hut one day as well as downhill and X-C. --eugene miya NASA Ames Research Center {hplabs,ihnp4,dual,hao,vortex}!ames!aurora!eugene emiya@ames-vmsb.ARPA
