Summary:

I have had for several years a Cannon FD 28mm F2.0 lens, and have been
very happpy with it. In particular, its sharpness is really superb (the
best I've seen other than the really good Nikon lenses). I've used it
successfully in various climes, from the Artic (-40F or so), to India
(110F), with never any problems with internal fogging, or lubrication,
etc. I consider it one of the best lenses I have, in fact. It is certainly
better than the Vivitar zoom lenses I have (not series I), and clearly
as good as the 'standard' Cannon FD 50mm F1.4 I bought with the camera.
The good light gathering power means you can shoot in lots of situations
by available light that you couldn't with the brand X type lenses (usually
F2.8 at best).
