My definition below is not perfect, but it is a start. Love is an individual thing, so love is different for each person. The only way to really know what another person means is by their actions. Saying 'I love you' allows the other person to see what you mean by love in your actions. Love is sharing. Sharing both joys and disappointments. Love is finding happiness in the other person's happiness. This is related to the sharing mentioned above. When you are happy, it makes me happy (I guess it sort of rubs off...). Love is caring. It seems to me that it would be impossible to love someone and not care for them. Love is freely given, with nothing asked for in return. Love is trusting. Love is honest. Love cannot survive in a dishonest atmosphere. Love is tolerant and willing to compromise. Nobody is one hundred percent compatible with anyone else; the ability to bend a little is required for love. -- Kenneth Ingham, UNM Computing Center, Albuquerque, NM 87131, 505-277-8044 ~{pur-ee!purdue,ucbvax!lbl-csam,philabs!cmcl2}!lanl!unm-cvax!ingham ~{convex,ucbvax,gatech,csu-cs,anl-mcs}!unmvax!unm-cvax!ingham
