Message-ID: <1869@wateng.UUCP> Date: Thu, 17-Jan-85 13:06:08 EST Article-I.D.: wateng.1869 Posted: Thu Jan 17 13:06:08 1985 Date-Received: Fri, 18-Jan-85 00:50:58 EST Distribution: net Organization: U of Waterloo, Ontario Lines: 22 I've been sitting back and reading this newsgroup for some time now, rarely posting anything because I've got little to say. Two things strike me as frightening, though: the level of animosity and bitterness displayed by contributors regarding the opposite sex; and the fact that many of the correspondents to this newsgroup seem to be going through a) divorce; b) breakup in a close relationship; c) being terminally lonely. I realize that discussing and searching for solutions to problems are generally why people use this newsgroup, but even in responses and counsels rarely do I see anything like "don't worry so much...things CAN work out, I know because it's working out for me..." Instead, it's mostly "buck up; I've been there MANY TIMES, and you'll be able to handle it too after you build for yourself a strong enough shell." It's getting to the point that it doesn't seem possible to keep anything going in this day and age. Are there in fact any people out there who are HAPPY with their lives, and with their relationships? Just getting this nagging feeling... ---tpc--- -- ...!{allegra | decvax | clyde | ihnp4 }!watmath!wateng!tpchmara
