Yes, component video is coming - in fact, I've seen ads for the basic
pieces of a component video system:
Monitor (which is basically just a CRT with video drive and color demultiplex
circuits - although some also accept RGB inputs as well as composite video)
Tuner 
VCR or video disk player
and audio components for the audio output from the tuner or VCR.
Many of the major TV manufacturers, including Sony and RCA, are marketing
these products now.
