Now that we beat to death the question of universities verifying draft status
lets go on to a more important question:

Should Ice cream parlors be required to verify draft status?

Yes folks, it seems that the selective service obtained a copy of Farrells
ice cream parlor "birthday list" and searched it for any name that was not
registered. Those that didn't were sent notices. This came to light because
some kids were registering several times with phony names to get free ice
cream several times a year. Seven years later they get notices from the
selective service addressed to these phony names.

Farrells had sold their list to a marketing firm that passed it to the SS.
They were upset when they discovered its usage and got it back from them.
The SS felt that this was perfectly legal.
