This is about the third time I have seen a message describing the net.singles
abbrevs and conventions float through.  For the first month or so that I 
subscribed to the news group, I too wondered about what SO and MOTOS meant and
want all the parentheses in the wierd locations signified.... :-)  How about
yet another news gorup.  net.singles.newuser?  Once a month the compiled
wisdom of the ages gets sent out.  Once you have internalized all the
pertinent info, you can then unsubscribe.  Mike
