A small church I attend is considering the purchase of a computer
to be used in preparing mailing lists and tracking the budget for
both the treasurer and finance chair. Two systems have been
investigated, the IBM PC and the Apple IIe. The teacher's discount
on the Apple II makes it a more attractive option, however I am not
sure that we on the church council are knowledgeable enough to make
a decision to spend between $3K and $4K for such a system, if in
fact we should even be purchasing or leasing such a system. I
suppose there are computer service suppliers that we could rent
software usage from that may answer our needs at a much lower
expense than that of buying a complete system.

I hope that some experts can give me some useful advice, perhaps
having gone through a similar exercise.
