I have worked with the AbSoft F-77 compiler, and recently with the
UCSD-p system Fortran from SoftTech. Although I have only seen the prerelease
version of Absoft's compiler, I must say that I am very impressed: great
debugging, *very* fast, etc. I am waiting for the realease version (any
day now) before writing a general review. The UCSD Fortran is very
disappointing in the sense that it does not use the mac environment at all:
you have a plain blank screen & the mouse is useless.. Apart from that it is
like any other Fortran. I have made my choice (was not very difficult): I
very highly recommend Absoft's Fortran. I have also used c-compilers (Manx),
but I think I prefer (believe it or not) Absoft's F-77. If you need more info
just drop me a note, or wait until I post a full review in a week or so.
