Good job, Ross. I especially like the comparison of the net to a
bathroom. I guess that was what finally got me to post. I don't think
that men posting to net.women.only will change the cute and antiquated
rules of the net. I also don't think that Jeff had that in mind when he
posted. I'm not even sure he had the following in mind at the time of
his posting or at any time in memorable history. But the point is:

1) There is a rule.
2) Certain people think this rule is unjust, should be changed, etc
3) These people, in their own minds, delete this rule
4) As far as they are concerned, no rule is being broken

Another way to go about it is concsiously post to such a group when you
have something pertinent to say. It will get some sort of reaction (a
la JS) It at least gets people to look at the rule and reconsider.

Now Ross, your approach doesn't seem to be "Well, we should probably
review this rule." You seem to have the approach that "It's a rule,
it's there, we have to abide by it. It can't be changed." You seem to
have no desire to have any part in the decision of whther the rule stays
or not, but rather just to see that it's enforced. Sorry, guy, this net
has no police force on it. People decide what the rules should be, and
common courtesy is what keeps these rules intact. If there is
disagreement, it is made known in one way or another. In this specific
case, there was a discussion not too long ago about whether or not the
rule should be retained. The discussion got nowhere, so I guess the
people have the option of trying different means.

Of to the edge of the earth for now ...
