This is sort of a survey. In my whole life I've only heard
of one other person with my first name. He was an Indonesian
immigrant working in a store in Los Angeles.
As far as I know he and I are the only living people with
my first name.

Historically, I know of 2 people who had the name Marnix.
1. Marnix van St. Aldegonde, the author of the Dutch national
    anthem.
2. Marnix Gijsen, a Dutch novelist.

My name comes from ancient greek and means "flickering star".
I was so told by the Dutch edition of Donald Duck magazine
when I was a little kid living in Holland.

I've often thought about giving up on my name and changing it
to something simpler and more American. But then my Dutch pride
takes over and I forget about such silly ideas.
