"Down Beat" commercial? Well, it depends on what you mean by commercial. It's true that they cover the "pop"-oriented varieties of jazz that I, for one, don't care for, but they also cover everything else from the traditional to the avant-garde. And a liberal addition of all sorts of non-jazz, too, just because no music is an island. I remember that one of their surveys revealed that a majority of their readers are working musicians. (Ads for instruments certainly play a large role in their advertising.) I have a lot of repsect for db. I've stopped subscribing because it was the only way to break my record-buying addiction. :-) --- Prentiss Riddle ("Aprendiz de todo, maestro de nada.") --- {ihnp4,harvard,seismo,gatech,ctvax}!ut-sally!riddle --- riddle@ut-sally.UUCP, riddle@ut-sally.ARPA, riddle@zotz.ARPA
