When we installed Sytek gear at Tektronix, we soon noticed
some log-on/log-off problems, both with the PCU and muxes.
The problem was traced to DTR/DCD troubles, primarily when
connecting these devices to other DCEs. Our solution was
to make a small ECB which passed through most of the RS-232
lines, but toggled DTR in either direction. It works well
with modems, etc. The card is rack-mountable, and costs about
$50.00 in small quantities. If you would like more details,
let me know. If I get 10 or more responses, I'll post the
info on the net.
