  Talk about starting a topic...

Well, how about a nice simple definition that I've used.

Love is extreme care for the mental and physical well-being of another entity.

This covers just about any situation where 'love' plays a part. It can
also include 'love' of a non-personal nature, allowing justification of the
use of phrases like "you love your computer more than you love me" which
has the meaning that you care more for the well-being of the computer than the
person involved.

The definition is a little too clear-cut and logical for many people, but it
certainly functions well enough in any instances that love is discussed. Of
course the ultimate attack on such a definition is, I suppose, that such care
is a symptom of love, rather than the love itself, but that's an argument
for a different day.
