I agree that if Studs McMacho and Annie Airhead
want to splatter their brains on the hood ornament,
they should have the right to do so, and with
     my blessing;

Just one thing-- insurance companies should be
legally allowed to cancel the policies of these
characters, and not have to pay their medical
expenses if they get hurt while not wearing a
     seatbelt.

Maybe this would result in lower insurance costs
     for the rest of us.

When I moved from Oregon to New Jersey (God,
what folly!), my car insurance rose instantly from
less than 200$/yr to nearly 800$/yr.
Same company, same coverage, no tickets or
     accidents in over ten years.
I won't speculate on some of the more obvious
explanations for this, but will say that a
substantial portion of this cost undoubtedly
goes for medical costs and "pain 'n' suffering"
     lawsuits.
