We Secular Humanists have a myth involving an architect, a surgeon, and an attorney. Says the surgeon, "Surgery is the oldest profession, for consider Adam's rib." Says the architect, who has not seen that movie, "Nonsense, the very act of creating order out of chaos at the beginning of time was a demonstration of architecture!" Says the attorney, "Aha! And who do you think created the chaos?" Furthermore, use any statistics program you want and compare the entropy with the number of attorneys. Run a correlation. See what I mean? And the contention that the Oldest Profession is prostitution is wholly consistent with what I just said... (Attorneys on the net: :-) Please don't sue!!! My grandfather was an attorney. He used to tell of finding an unhappy man staring at a tombstone. "A relative or friend?" asked my grandfather. "No, just a puzzlement," answered the other. "It says on the tombstone, 'Here lies a lawyer and an honest man.' Now why do you suppose they'd put two people in one grave?") I've got a million of 'em. -- D Gary Grady Duke U Comp Center, Durham, NC 27706 (919) 684-3695 USENET: {seismo,decvax,ihnp4,akgua,etc.}!mcnc!ecsvax!dgary
