Our R&D group has brought up Unix system V release 2 on an IBM PC-XT
equivalent machine. This Unix is running on a PC-bus board made by Opus
which uses a 32016 with 1MB of on-board memory & floating point hardware.
The I/O is done by the 8088 via a special MS-DOS program and interprocessor
interrupts. Indeed, vi, uucp, cc, et al run quite nicely, constrained
by the seek time of the disk. We will soon change to a 30msec sort of disk
and expect to see great improvements.

We've moved on now into developing Unix and MS-DOS integrated packages, using
off-the-shelf software wherever possible, eg, GKS for graphics.

I'm interested in determining if there are others out there who are likewise
working with 32 bit co-processors for the PC bus. We are assuredly NOT
in pursuit of the 32016 microprocessor per se-- indeed a 68000 with a
GOOD System V port would do well also.
