The Digital Mapping and Image Understanding project is currently looking
for talented individuals to fill Research Programmer positions in the
areas of large-scale image/map databases, rule-based systems for aerial
image understanding, and automated extraction of cartographic
information from complex scenes. We require a strong academic
background at the B.S./M.S. level as well as some background in
computer vision, with programming experience in UNIX/C and/or Lisp/OPS5
environments. Experience and interest in cartography, expert systems,
and large-scale system development is a plus. We have excellent
research facilities including Vax 11/780's, Sun workstations, and
Grinnell frame buffers. Carnegie-Mellon is an Equal Opportunity
