Yeah, I hear tell that they're all into religion and money now. Of
course, back in the 60's we didn't have to worry about getting a job.
There were jobs enough for everybody. And if *you* didn't have any
plans for a couple of years, why, Uncle Sam was more than eager to
hire any man, able-bodied or not, and send him a third of the way
around the world to prop up a corrupt, CIA-installed Asian regime.
Alas, kids today don't get that kind of education any more. They
listen attentively to their president and they believe him. Sh*t,
according to polls, they *admire* him! Well, it's not their asses on
the line any more.

It all added up to a lot of *passion*. Didn't matter what happened,
you could start a demonstration over it. A loud one. At Michigan
we held a march once to protest the dehumanization caused by changing
telephone protocol over from the alphabetic exchanges to all numbers!
(And now that I'm at AT&T, I might ad**PROPRIETARY INFORMATION**e case!)

It must be rough growing up now, knowing the world may be blown to
kingdom come any minute, knowing that the good jobs are scarce and
getting scarcer. Scary. No wonder they're turning to the old boring
religions. We studied the Eastern stuff to expand our consciousness,
to learn new things. Nowadays, they go for the plain vanilla, for the
security. There's so little hope, and even less exuberance. I spent
a lot of my youth dodging the draft and/or stoned. It was hell. It
was great. Wait a minute, I feel a novel coming on... "It...was...the
...best...of...times..."
