I have only had 2 indoor/outdoor cats, but both of them would remember
all of the things they has been scolded for and use them as ploys to
be fed or as a method of civil disobediance for any reason. However
if the punishment was not related to people, such as suddenly getting
a little damp, there was no such thought of retribution. By the way,
the same cats don't hesitate to go out into the rain so being hit with
a spray can't be too tramatic.
The spray has been a good deterent after only about 2 or 3 times.
