Stupid voice overs?  I suppose you mean the "thoughts" of the characters.
The movie would lose with out them.  If you'd read the book, you'll see that
this is Herbert's style.  Try omitting all the stuff in italics.  It would
be silly if the characters conveyed their thoughts so that everyone else
could hear them.
