Jeff , I work for a commercial x.25 network. We are doing a lot of
research in the area of packet communications. I have an AIR-1
device that works self contained on a Vic 20 or 64. I have
found that you can do acii,baudot,tty but, the big drawback is the fact
that the hf frequencies are not stable and without an excellent signal
the units on the maarket  do not work well and you get junk. I g  have
what is supposed to be one of the best units.
