For what it's worth, a friend has a fairly recent, top-of-the-line Panasonic VCR and my father has one of the older *ahem* portable decks. We haven't really had problems with either of them. The older deck suffered one infant failure that was fixed quickly by stopping by the repair facility that just happens to be located near here. I'm inclined to stick with Matsushita, most of the active components in my stereo are Technics, and when I worked at a radio station we used Technics tape decks, turntables, and equalizers. The only problem I have, is that they've stopped making a lot of this high end stuff. -Ron
