A production system would be running at higher speeds much of the time. One likely scenario would be the low speeds (1200 bps is the lowest it would ever go, and maybe not even that low!) during the day (when the satellite has lots of other data traffic to handle) and as high as 4800 (or hopefully) 9600 during off peak hours (which might well be more than half the time). There has never been any intention of running a production system 24 hours/day at 1200 bps. --Lauren--
