I guess Michener was trying to be succinct here... His books tend to wordiness, but are enjoyable for all that, but I really do think that this might be going a bit too far in the opposite direction. And a professor who labels this an "essay" is in for a problem with students turning in two sentences as their "essay" on some assigned topic or another. (Or maybe this is all just too subtle for me... :-) Will Martin (Long out of college, but still wasting time...)
