If you insist on surrounding yourself with a impenetrable environment
in an emotional sense (a la the "bubble" enclosure in a physical sense) then
you will suffer the consequences of isolation. Pure and simple; no bullshit
christian paradox nonsense is necessary to explain it.

If you wish to live like a hermit, and avoid contact with others (in
order to alleviate the possibility of being hurt), that is fine; if you want
to live among others, and take the lumps which will inevitably come, that is
fine, too. BUT MAKE UP YOUR GODDAMN MIND!! I, for one, am not inclined to
pay much attention to this "torture", because you haven't even decided what
you want to do and then tried it!

I find it fairly easy to call up a reasonable amount of sympathy for
someone who tries and loses, but for he/she who won't even make an effort, I
have only contempt.

This is reality, Jeff; people cry and laugh and experience joy and
get hurt and live and die, every day; if you don't like it that way, you
may retreat to whatever inner peace you can find; and good luck. But, for
crying out loud, drop the martyr bit; you're not the only person who was
ever lonely, or confused, or hurt...so stop acting like it!
