Try Spectors in Super Rogue. Message-ID: <203@aluxz.UUCP> Date: Thu, 20-Dec-84 11:55:20 EST Article-I.D.: aluxz.203 Posted: Thu Dec 20 11:55:20 1984 Date-Received: Fri, 21-Dec-84 02:08:25 EST Distribution: net Organization: AT&T Bell Laboratories, Allentown, PA Lines: 18 Rogue always has surprises - in our version the "extra" abilities of certain monsters seem to depend on what character class you are. During much fighter and magic-user play, spectors were only mildly annoying. But, when I was a thief, they turned into real nasty creatures. When they hit me, they always took off TWO experience levels per hit. And when I finally killed them, I only got half the loss back. Imagine my surprise when one hit me twice and I lost FOUR levels and only got TWO back! Spectors never took levels off the other characters, at least in my "experience." Also, when I would lose a level due to a wraith or wight and then gain it back, my magic or prayer points would NOT be "recharged". In fact, when you lose levels with 0 magic left, your magic points can go negative! (While many rogue principles are common, many things are version specific. Do you think we could avoid some of the drawn out arguments when it is clear that we are dealing with different versions?) RAKON THE MASTER (trounced the game with a cleric!)
