Isn't Van Dyke Parks the guy who worked with Brian Wilson of the 
Beach Boys on the wonderful (but wierd) Smiley Smile...(well known in 
some circles as the album the beach boys made on acid...listen to 
"vegetables" and this becomes totally believable). In case, Van Dyke 
Parks, if I am correct, co-wrote "Heroes and Villians". After this album 
came Wilson's nervous breakdown, the two year period when he wouldn't leave 
the house, the Shrink and the all-too-common beginning of the end.
