Lines: 6 Maybe I said it wrong (I was tired). Emacs and emacs like editors are upwardly compatible with the type of terminal everyone will have in 5-8 years. Vi is not. ATT knew this (I know because I was there when the decision was made) when they decided to support this editor. Vi is just impossible with the next generation of intelligent terminal.
