Here's the precious little I can offer about Howard Johnson. Haven't heard the scuttlebutt about Hojo in the NY press but looking at the 1984 statistics reveals few surprises. Batted .248 as a switchhitter. Statistic Rank (Tigers) 355 AB 8th 14 E 2nd 10 SB 3rd 8 GWRBI 4th 12 HR 7th(tied) 50 RBI 8th 88 H 9th Simplistic analysis: Defense has never been one of Johnson's strengths. He has better than average speed on a team that didn't run. He appears a good clutch hitter with power. -- Doug Dickerson : !sdcsvax!noscvax!douglas : douglas@nosc
