This is one case where a Christian paradox that Kulawiec once (in net.religion)
dismissed as propaganda is shown to be true:  He who saves his life will lose
it, and he who loses his life will find it.  If I were not so intent on
protecting myself, I would probably have a much fuller life.  "Wondering", as
Rich put it, or loneliness, as I would put it, is like (for you rogue fans)
wearing studded leather armor inside out.  On the other hand, it is still less
painful if I can control my own torture than if someone else hurts me.
