I have heard it said from various friends of mine that women who have SO's with so-called "bad" qualities try to see the good in their SO, and hope that they can work with them to root out the "bad". Judging from some of the relation- ships I've seen, this makes sense, because it was clear that the guy was treat- ing the woman like a dog, but he might have been handsome or athletic or good in bed and the woman put up with his abuse hoping that in time the "bad" would go away. -- Baby tie your hair back in a long white bow ...
