I think what he meant was whether the term "dunsel" existed before the 
"Ultimate Computer" episode was written, possibly as a naval slang term or
was it created ("coined") for that episode by Gene Roddenberry (who wrote it).

I wish I had the answer, but at least I can clarify the question!
