There has been a lot of talk about sendmail dropping local
mail messages. My problem is a little different.
We have two vaxes connected by DMR11s. When I mail from
vax1 to user@vax2, mail is delivered. However, when I mail
from vax2 to user@vax1, the mail is lost ( not even returned
as being undeliverable). Using the command:
% /usr/lib/sendmail -v user@vax1
sendmail tells me that the mail is delivered. When checking
vax1's syslog, a message which contains the line:
Dec 14 17:21:45 localhost: 5264 sendmail: AA05262: to=, delay=00:00:15, stat=Bad usage
Dec 14 17:21:45 localhost: 5264 sendmail: AA05262: to=, delay=00:00:15, stat=User unknown
The "stat=Bad usage" and "stat=User unknown" confuses me. (NOTE: I can
mail jcc@vax2 from vax1 via the "mail jcc@vax2" command!!!). On top
of all this, the letter is lost. Any suggestions, fixes, or similiar
experiences will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe Camaratta
