If the source impedance of the driving circuit is reasonably low (< 1000 ohms)
you should be able to use common or garden variety cables with no ill effects
frequency-response or noise-wise. Widespread night-fears to the contrary, you
could probably get away even without shielding unless the signals venture 
through heavy-duty magnetic fields (electrostatic fields are unlikely to
be a problem, since capacitive coupling wiull be ineffective at low Z.

Watch out for ground-loops or the like- there's the most likely source of
corruption. Also beware RF interference (maybe you'd better use shielded
cables after all!)
