One thing I learned a long time ago (in a galaxy far away) was that if you
wait for other people you don't do a fourth of the things you want to do.
In high school I went to half of the rock concerts I saw alone, and I still
see several movies alone.  Believe me, the stares you get from people there
with friends are all in your head.  Granted, it's not as much fun alone,
but it's still a lot better than doing nothing at all.
