Or sometimes just finding the bugs, but not being able to do anything about them, e.g.: Remember IBM's "OS"? Remember Assembler-F ("IEUASM") and "IEBGENER"? As late as release 20, I made both of those bomb ("abend") with an 0C4 (which would be a segmentation fault if IBM had known about virtual memory in those days, or possibly a bus error, for invalid addressing).
