Message-ID: <620@ccice5.UUCP> Date: Fri, 28-Dec-84 13:26:28 EST Article-I.D.: ccice5.620 Posted: Fri Dec 28 13:26:28 1984 Date-Received: Sat, 29-Dec-84 06:41:39 EST Distribution: net Organization: CCI Central Engineering, Rochester, NY Lines: 25 When I first discovered this news group, several months ago, I posted a question about a movie that had long since passed-on to TV. This net was plagued at that time with "I saw Dan Akroyd in 'The Temple of Doom'!" postings. I left in disgust and returned about a month ago. It was like a new place! There were discussions about foreign films, film classics, little trivia contests and real reviews. It was wonderful! WAS But now we have "Return of the I saw Dan Akroyd!" playing here at the Bijou. This *GARBAGE* about "2010" and "Dune" light switches, cloud cover, Pan Am posters and the like is ruining this net! I like SF just as well as the next person. But I like it because it's SF, NOT because I can show the whole world how smart I am because I caught a foul-up in a movie. I realize that my age is probably higher than that of the average user of this net. But are there that many machines out there that are only being accessed by students? I would hope that this "Me Too, Me Too!" mentality that is being displayed in these postings does not belong to people who actually have positions that influence a product or service. So, to put it simply, MOVE THIS JUNK TO NET.FOLLOWUP. Thank you. (hiss...) *** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE ***
