I'm toying with getting a new turntable and cartridge (or perhaps
just a new cartridge for my existing turntable). I've been out
of the stereo-purchasing-game for many moons now, so am seeking
advice.

Current system includes an Advent receiver, Advent speakers, a
Dual turntable (I think a Model 502), and a then-top-of-the-line
Micro Acoustics cartridge. Everything save the cartridge is
about eight years old; the cartridge, about three or four.

I listen to classical music primarily. My current displeasure
stems from fuzziness and lack of clarity in the medium and high
frequency ranges and in some loud portions.

I'd appreciate information about turntables and cartridges. (Yes,
I've considered a CD player; let's avoid discussions thereon.)
Price range: oh, I suppose around $400 or less for the set, though
if that's the wrong price range, let me know.

I do not normally frequent this newsgroup; please MAIL replies to
me (yes, that's the r key) and I'll summarize and post to the group.
