Since the command you say must have "here documents" quoted is part of the
file created by "shar", there must be some bad "shar"s around, including
the one at LANL and at least one other (I think VersaTerm was the one I had
problems with, obviously I got around the problems, because I'm using
VersaTerm to write this).  So you are recommending that the receiver of
"shar" messages including "binhex" files double-check for the correct quoting.
That is the only way I can interpret a recommendation to continue using "shar"
for "binhex" files, because the bad "shar"s are not going to fix themselves.
