Not being a regular net.games reader, I got pointed over here by a request
for a copy of the source. I've got a much-enhanced version (more on that
later) that I'm going to post to the net.

In looking at peoples strategies to beat the beast, I noticed that they
fall into two categories: GEVs & Howitzers, or Get Behind the Beast. I'm
not familiar with the second strategy, but I achieved near 100% successes
with the first on the unmodified game. The trick is to get the thing to
oscillate (even with the bug fix in!) like so:

First, the ogre must be down to AP & two movement points (who shoots at AP?
Why?). Leave the ogre this situation:

		G O . C

The beast will step on your GEV, and then step forward. Most of the time,
your GEV will be disabled, and then re-enabled after the ogre's movement
phase (this could well be a bug. Have to look at it...). Pound on the
treads some, and leave it the same situation. It loops.

In the enhanced version, this has been fixed. The ogre strategy was changed
to place more weight on killing the CP. Since this is *the* objective, it
makes sense. And yes, I've beaten this ogre using the G & H strategy.

The enhancements that are currently installed and working:

	1) Stacking for armor is now correct (I closed the "SIT" hole).
	2) Infantry stacking works as per the MetaGaming rules,
except under attack by the Ogre. There, it favors the
		defender.
	3) A pass option now exists for movement, as well as for firing.
	4) You can pick up pieces after you've put them down during setup.
	5) You can get a mobile CP (really nice!).
	6) The improved ogre strategy mentioned above.
	7) All bug fixes that I've seen posted.

I'm currently working on a new scenario (ogre 6), that will comprise the
ogre 5 defense force vs. two Mark IIIs. After this is finished (or
abandoned), I'll post the sources to the new version (sources, *not*
diffs).

	Happy Hunting,
