Amidst all the argueing between life in prison, killing them, etc., another
usually overlooked alternative is being overlooked.  I'm probably going to
regret saying this, but it's (drumroll, please!) SLAVERY.

Yes, you sell the bastard.  The state and the victim can split the proceeds.
(or one can keep all, etc.)

"But wait," you say, "slavery is unconstitutional!"  Guess again.  The
fifteenth and sixteenth ammendments guarantee that there shall be no
involountary servitude (namely slavery) without due process of the law.

The advantages are obvious.  The bad guy is no longer a drain on the state, and
the process is reversible.

I think I'll stop before I get in any deeper.
