I have recently received a recall notice for my 82 Mazda 626. This is
due to the fact that there is a problem with the emission control system
in areas in which there is heavy road salt. I lived in Michigan and
Massachusetts since I bought my car. This notice was for 81 and 82
Mazda 626's and I have also heard that these were sent to GLC owners.

Since I now live in California, I am having a problem in getting the
dealer out here to fix it. He claims that since I passed the SMOG
check out here I don't need anything fixed. I told him that it took me
3 tries at passing the test. (I even wonder if the inspector wasn't doing me
a favor since my car is pretty new). The entire exhaust system on my car is
rusting out. I have even had to have parts of the "heat shield" torched off.
Has anybody out there had there car checked out under the recall notice? I
would appreciate any info that I can give to the dealer.
