I'm looking for what I suspect is a little-known film entitled "Carnival of
Souls" which airs relatively infrequently around these parts (and, for all I
know, elsewhere as well). A description of the film cannot do it justice
but the budget on which it was made makes "Night of the Living Dead" look
like the work of Cecil B DeMille. Briefly, it focuses on a single woman
survivor of an automobile accident who is stalked by Death or one of his
minions (I know, this has been done - that's not the point). The ending
takes place on a deserted amusement pier (hence the title) where the dead
get together, after rising en masse from the water, for some dancing and
merry-go-rounding. I haven't seen this film in a couple of years but it
played fairly often in the NYC area when I lived there (Chiller Theater, I
think). If anyone has access to a video (sans ads) of this film in either
Beta or VHS format, I'd appreciate you letting me know. BTW, it's not in
Maltin; in fact, I haven't seen reference to it anywhere.
