The symptoms vary.  If in any doubt, swoop down on your cat and take
it to the vet immediately.  In my cat's case, he went from being
apparently healthy to being so sick he had to be euthanized in
six days.  Tumors associated with leukemia can grow at an incredible
rate.  I gather that more usually it is a long drawn out thing, and
the cat starts to seem generally run down, more susceptible to
infections, and so forth as a first indication.
