When someone says "aggregate" to me, my free association is "concrete". You know - sand, gravel, stuck together with cement - little pieces of inert matter rigidly locked in place. That's not a terribly good analogue for society. At minimum, I'd call society a "system". If I'm really in a good mood, I might even call it an "organism". But "aggregate"?
