A consistent environment, so long as want you want is Computer Modern
Roman.  Ugh.  Real typesetting machines generally have their own private
ideas about fonts, which brings us back to square one.  To rephrase my
previous comment:  at present, any similarity in fonts across devices
is the exception rather than the rule.  So font-dependency equals device-
dependency.
