Motorcycle riding in LA is characterized by two things:

  - Great weather!
  - Horrendous traffic!!!

I would un-recommend renting a bike for LA.  The freeways (and most
major side-streets) are crowded and the drivers are, well, bold.  The
upshot is that 1) you go very slow, and 2) it's *still* dangerous.

The only advantage to motorcycles in LA traffic is that lane-splitting
is legal in CA, so a lot of people use them to beat the traffic.  If you
have nerves of steel and lightening reflexes, you might want to
consider this.
