I am reading (and responding to) news on a 785 upgrade (780 with CPU
cards swapped).  We changed no software.  As Armando pointed out quite
a while ago, the 785 is bug-for-bug compatible with the 780., and even
the CPU-type register claims it's a 780.  (By the way, we're running
Research Eighth Edition UNIX.)
