   When one buys a new house i is customary to say the shehecheyanu or if
 more than one person is moving in ( if one moves in with one's family ),
 then the beracha of hatov v'hametiv is said. I don't know what the ruling
 is if one rents a house, but I'll inquire of my father ( an orthodox rabbi )
 and I'll post what he says.
