As per request, a short review of the latest LP by This Mortal Coil,
"It'll End In Tears" on the British 4AD label.

The most lasting impression I have of my one listening is that they
performed not one but TWO Alex Chilton covers! (See later posting
about definitions of "cover"). The title of the first one (side one,
cut one) escapes me, but the second (side one, cut three) is a terrific
version of "Holocaust" with, if my memory isn't failing me, Howard Devoto
singing. A very nice piano and strings arrangement. I believe that this
is the only track that Devoto appears on.

The rest of the LP has mainly faded from my memory... modern, synth based
music that varied from industrial pop to new age dark crawling laments.
Side two, as I recall, was mainly instrumental, and not as immediately
interesting as side one.
