Dec. 1 West Tahoe Area.
Temps: lower 20s. 2-4 inches new, dry. X-C blue bordering on purple at
7-9K ft.
Weather: Morning clear and sunny turning to patchy high clouds.
Base: 3-5 feet with the 2 in. new.

Went cross country skiing yesterday after a weak front went thru (trying
to save money on a Civil Service Salary). Went to the area N of Donner
Summit off I80. Visited the Peter Grubb Hut and ascended Castle Peak
for a wind-blown run down. Snow conditions nice considering we beat the
crowds going out. Snow should be good for one more day, it raining in the
Bay Area today.

If you happen to live in the San Francisco Bay area, I am looking for
people to share driving expenses on the weekends. The only thing I ask
is that you have to be able to leave on 24-hr notice (soon after a storm).
I want to develop a "net" of locals interested in skiing (or climbing).
I have tried to avoid going with the local Sierra Club and AAC (have
attended a couple of meetings).

What you do in the mountains (cross country or alpine downhill) is
your preference. I principally want to share expenses. My personal interests
are easy: I like doing everything but jumping, mogels, and packed runs.
I make no distinction between cross country and down hill or extreme skiing
(if you are interested in this latter, I want to talk to you).
Accomodations: sometimes I stay with friends or relatives, other times I
have a tent and a warm bag. So,
if you are a Bay Area crazy [you really like skiing and will even get up at
4 AM to go], drop me a note, or if you know somebody. It's doesn't matter
where you live, we can work out some type of transportation arrangement,
you just have to love skiing.
