I think I should get something like this finally.  But the price range
is enormous!!!  Anything from $20 to $200 will get you a playback walkman-type
thing.  Surely there's a big difference in quality, too, but I'll bet there
are some real pleasant surprises at the low end.  Does anyone have good
experiences with Walkpeople at, say, under $50?  A good reliable tape
transport mechanism, good sound quality, a few features like Dolby and
tape switch are pretty much mandatory I think.

I will summarize if there are more than a few interesting replies!
