In the case of my mom's kitten, she had real bad diarrhea (which wasn't
helped by the fact that she is pure white) and a slight problem with
her appetite.  The disease was transferred to her other cat within one
week of discovering it.  The same symptoms were evident in the other cat.
After taking medications for 3 months the disease went into remission for
both cats.  I'm not sure what the medication was called but it was the same
as the one the my grandmother takes for leukema only in lower doses.  U.C.
Davis has a clinic where they are researching this deadly disease.
