Summary: 

I'd recommend that you hot wax the glide portion (the part without the pattern)
of the ski with a good glide wax.  The particular wax will depend on the 
conditions in your area.  If you are not sure which wax to use ask at a local
XC Ski shop.

I applied this treatment to my waxless skis and it worked wonders!
