That doesn't go a LONG way back. The last time was the 1980 Stanley Cup
Final: NY Islanders beat Philadelphia in six.

Nowadays, we will never see a hockey or basketball game played
between two teams in the same region. The NBA championship is played 
between the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference, so is the NHL.
