When I first saw the Infocom ads, I figured they had just bought the rights to it. But lo and behold, when I got it it shows Douglas Adams as author (and the manual was definitely written by him). I have not started it yet, but a blurb in the manual states that having read the books will help only in the early going, the rest is all new.
