After much discussion about this topic, the conclusion of many is that
since the Radio Control Hobby is considered a recreational hobby, one
should expect to find it in net.rec and a sub-title called net.rec.rc
be generated if the traffic warrants it on a continuing basis. It is
true that the R/C hobby started using ham frequencies and hams were the
only ones that could run the equipment. That was in the 1930s. There
are still frequencies in the 53 MHZ band (6 meter ham band) that are
authorized for use by hams that wish to fly R/C. The fact that many new
frequencies are available to the R/C community, that are not in the
ham bands, and that the majority of the modelers use those and not
the ham bands, one can conclude that ham-radio is not the place for
the R/C guys.

I am a ham (W9LXP) and DO use 6 meters for some of my R/C activity.
In spite of this, I feel that net.rec is the place for us (the R/C
group at this time). As a ham, and an R/C buff, I would like to see
us move it to the net.rec notes system.
