KTLA (independent 5) here in L.A. has begun full scale stereo and
simulcast broadcasting. They are now simulcasting "Love Boat"
and the 10 pm news hour in English and Spanish (Spanish on one
channel, English on the other) and have begun a variety of
stereo programs including the broadcast of "2001" and a number
of specials and rock videos.

KTLA thusly become the first station in the U.S. to do simultaneous
bilingual broadcasting.

However, before you get all excited, note that having had MTV and
"The Movie Channel" for several years (both of which are stereo
services) I'll warn you that in my opinion, the novelty wears
out pretty fast... Do we really need "The A Team" in stereo?
Do we really need "The A Team" at all? Or to put it another way,
what good is stereo when the shows suck?
