A *black* pot wastes significantly more energy in this way than a bright stainless steel pot. (Ever get into a black car on a sunny day?) (from a Cuisinart cookware ad, signed by Cuisinarts's president, no less.) It ends with "Next time, I'll try to clear up some misconceptions about the heat conductivity of cookware."
