I have been quite distressed by the levels of intolerance,
determination to be right, making the other person wrong,
attacking, and general behavior that I have observed at
various times and places on the net. Particularly bad has been
net.motss but that is far from the only location.

If the *enlightened intelligensia* of the net cannot handle a
simple event like the *inclusion* of some moderated newsgroups,
IS IT ANY WONDER THAT WE ARE IN SEVERE DANGER OF BLOWING THIS
PLANET APART?

Somehow we have to get away from a right/wrong mentality and
get more to an inclusion mentality. There are those who believe
in God and those who don't. There are those who believe the
world is divided into two classes and those who don't. (Note
that that proves the world is divided into two classes :-),
from pseudo-Ogden Nash on set theory). Attempts to inflict
your beliefs on others doesn't seem to be generating harmony
(according to my perceptions). There are those who believe
in abortion-on-demand and those who don't. There are those
who think a baboon heart transplant is awful and those who
don't. There are those who used to not eat meat on Friday.
Is your purpose on this planet to judge all those
people and sort them out into right and wrong? Well, it's
not my purpose.

Pardon my rambling. I think it is high time for less conflict
and more tolerance. Perhaps wisdom and perspective will enter
with advancing years. Perhaps not.

Optomistically,
Maurice
