Lines: 20 well after two error-free years, my apple ][+ disk drive is beginning to die a rapid death... but its a strange problem, I wondered if anyone out there had similar experiences/helpful hints. The outer tracks work perfectly, the inner tracks are flakey with the flakiest tracks on the very inside. Disks written long ago are only slightly flakey. Newly formatted disks work perfectly (no bad blocks) Both old and new disks get extremely flakey when things are written and subsequently read from the inner tracks. Yes, it sounds somewhat like head positioning and possibly alignment problems, has anyone had similar problems or know how to fix it. (I do have access to scopes, etc.) -- ^ ^ Glen Shires, Intel, Santa Clara, Ca. O O Usenet: {ucbvax!amd,pur-ee,hplabs}!intelca!glen > ARPA: "amd!intelca!glen"@BERKELEY \-/ --- stay mellow
