Lines: 17 I bought a Promethus(sp?) Premodem 1200 (the standalone version) and installed it in a friends system. It has been quite reliable, both in operation and in Signal / Noise ratio. (Their phones are handled by GTE, you know the guys that think a SNR of 6Db is good.) It has been steadily coming down in price so it will probably be under $300 by Xmas. The one I got doesn't seem to go very loud on the speaker. I don't know if that is a fault or if I haven't set one of the zillion of options correctly. The documentation was complete if somewhat sparse. I set it up for Hayes mode so I could use PC-Talk. --Chuck -- -- Chuck - - - D I S C L A I M E R - - - {ihnp4,fortune}!dual\ All opinions expressed herein are my {proper,idi}-> !intelca!cem own and not those of my employer, my {ucbvax,hao}!hplabs/ friends, or my avocado plant. :-} ARPAnet : "hplabs!intelca!cem"@Berkeley
