Maybe you should try a different corkscrew.  I have never had that problem
with a bottle of Black Tower, however I have had the same problems with other
types.  May I suggest that you use a Vintage cork puller, it tackles most 
tough jobs, but occasionally pushes the cork, as a whole, in the bottle 
(usually on some of the cheaper California stuff, worthy of a screw-top).
