A farmer and his wife had been married over 20 years. One day
it was raining and the farmer couldn't work outside. His wife
had gone into town and he went upstairs to clean out the attic,
something he had been putting off for a long time.

While in the attic he happened to come across his wife's hope
chest. Being very curious, he pried it open to see what was
inside. He found 3 soybeans and 9 dollar bills. He was quite
curious as to the significance of these items.

When his wife returned, he 'fessed up to his invasion of what
he perceived to be her privacy. And he asked, "What on earth
are those soybeans for?"

She replied, "There is one for each affair that I have had."

He thought that 3 affairs in over 20 years wasn't too bad.
But there was still the matter of the money. "What about
the 9 dollars?" he asked.

She replied, "Well, you always told me to sell soybeans when
they got to $9 a bushel!"
