Here are the responses to the questions I posted regarding the wearing
of underwear. There weren't very many responses so I haven't done any
statistical analysis.

Not much interest shown, but I promised to post the results, so here goes.

(note: the answers are not in the order that they were received to help
preserve privacy - no cluster analysis likely here!)

----- ripping open the envelope, the answers are -----

1.1	do you usually wear underwear?
a: I usually wear underwear because I "usually" am dressing for the
office. In more casual circumstances, like jeans, I usually don't.
If the makers of my office wear made clothes with fewer sharp internal
	edges, I'd "usually" go without.
a: Yeah
a: Yes
a: Yes
a: Yes.
a: yes
a: yes
a: yes
a: yes
a: yes
a: yes
a: yes.

1.2	why?
a: Comfortable. Last thing left to one's imagination before sex.
	I don't know.
a: Denim/zipper/cords wear on my genitals. Particularly zippers.
(Ever had a few pubic hairs stuck in your zipper. Ouch.)
a: Force of habit. Butt gets cold without shorts on. Last few drops
of urine get absorbed without external visibility. Prefer to have
genitals kept in some sort of place.
a: Have you ever got your penis caught in a fly before?
a: Have you ever gotten yourself tangled in the zipper of your trousers?
a: I wear skirts most of the time, and have an insecure, vulnerable
feeling when I'm exposed to possible drafts--also for health reasons
during THAT time of the month.
a: So I won't soil the inside of my outer clothing (I have a leaky body)
and so I'll have something to lounge around in when my outer clothing
is off (thus avoiding some minor scrapes :-)).
a: because of my period and other reasons related to a healthy cervix
a: have been conditioned that way and is definitely cleaner.
a: it's more comfortable
a: never thought about why before. i guess to keep things out of zippers
(OUCH!) and pants reasonably clean (ICKY!)

1.3	have you always done so? if not, why did you change your habit?
a: I have gone back and forth. It varies with the relative comfort of
	the pants I buy.
a: 1) I noticed that it didnt feel very good, and 2) I stopped being
a student and could hence afford to buy a large enough supply so as
	to make it between washes.
a: Yeah
a: Yes
a: Yes
a: Yes.
a: always, since diapers i suppose
a: yes
a: yes
a: yes
a: yes
a: yes

1.4	how do you think this practice has affected your sex life?
a: Hasn't hurt (see next question).
a: I used to wear underwear and a t-shirt to bed; in a previous
relationship, my SO thought of it as a rejection when I wasn't
totally naked. To make him feel better, I stopped wearing anything
to bed, but have since returned to the habit, except when my current
	SO is in town.
a: It hasn't
a: No effect
a: Not been affected.
a: Not measurably.
a: Zilch. By the time she finds out, it's usually too late to have an
	effect.
a: better. there is more to take off
a: not at all
a: not at all
a: not at all.
a: well, I wear - what women have described - as sexy underware, so
	maybe it has

1.5	if you use underwear, is it unusual in some way (other than medically,
such as surgical appliances) (eg: racy, colorful, baggy, leather, etc)
a: I generally wear loose, solid-colored boxer shorts -- they're
usually more comfortable and better ventilated than jockey shorts and
don't apply pressure where it's not wanted. I agree with those
reports that suggest they (boxers) tend to be better for your
reproductive system. I also have some nylon boxers (!) for special
occasions (they're too slippery for everyday use). (The black pair
	match my eyepatch.)
a: I normally wear all cotton briefs in neutral colors, so
for this day and age I guess that's unusual
a: I usually wear "traditional" briefs, but do have some colored low
rise briefs. Hoped they would remind me that I had too much stomach!
a: I wear plain cotton briefs--for the only reason that I don't think
I look good in anything fancier, and nylon or polyester is bad for
	ventilation
a: Just standard white cotton briefs with elastic waistband. I do
have one pair of nylon briefs, I find those more comfortable, but more
expensive.(And my ex-girlfriend giggled every time she saw them. *sigh*)
a: No
a: Nope. Perfectly normal jockey shorts.
a: You mean like using it as a fanbelt? Nope.
a: briefs. usually colored (white is for hospitals).
a: definitely not baggy, close fitting bikinis are my style
a: i don't like the plain old white ones, but nothing flashy
a: no

1.6	do you wear underwear as sleepwear?
a: I wear nothing as sleepware
a: No
a: No.
a: Not usually. I used to because (for psychological reasons) I was
not comfortable sleeping with nothing on. Now, I almost always sleep
nude, except if I'm unusually cold or leaky
a: Sometimes. Usually sleep in my sweats (used for that purpose only).
a: Yes, when I wear sleepwear. I usually sleep raw, but in cases where
I'm sleeping more publicly (ski trips with my club, for example) I will
wear them. Not modesty, but respect for other people who might be
	offended.
a: no
a: only when visiting others (no pajamas)
a: sometimes - usually in the wintertime.
a: yes
 a: yes

2	- your spouse/SO/desired/dream person:
2.1	does/should your SO wear underwear?
a: I don't care if my lover wears underwear, I suppose. If he does,
briefs are preferred (boxer shorts are tacky)!
a: Does not matter
a: Don't care
a: I dont care, it's up to her.
a: Should.
a: Thinking back on my SOs, it's been about 50-50 -- at least for bras.
I prefer bralessness, but it's not mandatory -- other things are more
important. Most of my SOs have routinely worn panties or hose; a
	few have not.
a: Yea, panties and a bra.
a: Yes!
a: he does
a: yes
a: yes
a: yes, and yes.
a: yup

2.2	why?
a: For the same functional reasons cited above, plus the added dimension
that (most) women's underwear is (can be) incredibly sexy!
a: I don't know why; I've never asked him.
a: I find it's sexiest when you have to struggle to decide if someone
has on underwear, and it tends to be easier to determine that they are
being worn than it is to determine that they aren't. After all, one of the primary reasons for clothes is to keep your, er, interest up.....
a: I hear women like to do that sorta thing
a: Neatness.
a: She was pretty straight-laced.
a: Why she does/doesnt is really not a big issue to me.
a: ever see the episode of St. Elsewhere where the guy catches it in
	his tight jeans zipper?
a: habit, comfort
a: i would have to ask her why. as far as should, yeah because it
	keeps the pants clean (ICKY**2)

2.3	have your attitudes regarding the wearing of underwear changed this
	person's underwear habits?
a: No; there's been no need to.
a: Yes - he wears sexier underwear.
a: Yes. My current SO has beautiful nipples and I try to get her to
wear things that emphasize them. She used to think they showed too
much and were too provocative, particularly for the general public
(she may be right; there are some real wierdos out there). But if
she's going somewhere where she feels comfortable, she'll frequently
	go braless now.
a: no
a: no
a: no
a: no.
a: no.
a: nope
a: nope

2.4	do you find someone less/more attractive because of underwear?
a: I suppose sexiness counts as attractiveness, so the answer is
	"yes, a little bit."
a: Lack of underwear is intriguing, but only a small factor
a: Not red hot about braless women. Guess that would mean less.
a: Not that I recall. (Well, I suppose if a girl is wearing a dress
and wearing lift and/or padded bra underneath I might find her more
appealing if the bra were correctly engineered.)
a: Ordinary underware does take something away from a woman's
appearance, but I try not to let it bother me. Fancy underwear can
add quite a bit to her appearance (probably more than plain detracts).
a: more
a: no
a: no
a: no. I had an SO who never wore underwear; I thought it was unusual
and a little bit exciting, but it never made that much of a difference.
a: now that would be a silly notion. since you really only know about
it when you are in the process of disrobing (for various reasons) you
are not likely to be affected by the presence or not of underwear. of
course, all bets are off if you find something GROSS!
a: yes. I definitely don't date guys who wear boxer shorts.

2.5	is/should this person's underwear (be) unusual? (see 1.5 above)
a: Does not matter
a: Don't care
a: It doesn't matter to me.
a: It wasnt.
a: No.
a: Not unless you consider stripes made up of alternating
opaque/see-through material unusual or are stunned by the odd frill.
a: SO) Just for play. I don't see any reason that her regular underwear
	should be anything but comfortable.
a: Well, at times, sexy underware on her can be fun
a: he doesn't wear anything unusual, and it makes no difference--I
spend more time thinking about what's underneath the covering and not
	about the covering!
a: no
a: nope
a: not necessarily.

2.6	does/should this person wear underwear as sleepwear?
a: Don't care
a: I'd rather see nifty underwear than an old flannel nightgown.
Better to wear nothing at all. (Better still to progress from fancy
underwear to nothing at all :-)).
a: No
a: No. If I didn't sleep alone, I think I'd sleep in the raw and get
used to it. :-) I tried sleeping in the raw for a while since I had
read that you would rest better. Didn't seem to make any improvement.
a: Not when sleeping with me, and if she's not sleeping with me, I
	don't care
a: Panties and a night-shirt (or oversized Tshirt)
a: SO) Her choice, but she probably wont.
a: doesn't have to, I prefer him not to.
a: no
a: occasionally (and unfortunately)
a: same as 1.6

3	- the both of you:
3.1	is or would the wearing of underwear be a major or important factor
	in your relationship?
a: No.
a: Are you kidding?
a: I don't think so.
a: I think that if I NEVER wore it, it would be a factor.
a: No, but it could make life more interesting (especially if she
	sees this!).
a: No.
a: Not important.
a: You have GOT to be kidding. No.
a: are u serious?
a: no
a: no
a: that's silly - NO
