Message-ID: <3787@decwrl.UUCP> Date: Mon, 1-Oct-84 09:12:26 EDT Article-I.D.: decwrl.3787 Posted: Mon Oct 1 09:12:26 1984 Date-Received: Tue, 2-Oct-84 06:29:05 EDT Sender: daemon@decwrl.UUCP Organization: DEC Engineering Network Lines: 29 I friend of mine has written a game called GAUNTLET and is making it available as user supported software. This means it isn't available in stores. You can get it from anyone who has it (no protection!), from BBS, etc. GAUNTLET is a 28K assembly language program that runs in a 32K Atari with disk. You are the pilot of a lone spacecraft trying to penetrate the defenses of an enemy battlegroup dug in on a small moon. There are 50 different screens, 17 different kinds of enemy ships, and 10 different types of enemy weapons. The enemy ships are intelligent and dodge your shells and shoot your shells out of the sky. There are camouflaged gunbases that are almost invisible. There are enemy ships that drop robot ships that fight on their own. Mines will chase you. Enemy scouts and hunters use the terrain to trap and kill you. Most enemy ships fire more than one type of weapon. Your ship is equipped with rapid fire fusion bolts and a special weapon that you choose from homing missiles that burn through rock and TRIDEX that explode along a plane. There are three skill levels and two modes. The action is VERY fast and will challenge your gaming skills. I don't have a sector copier and thus can't share my copy, but if you send a donation of at least $5.00 to the author, he will send it to you (he provides the disk). It is worth much more than $5.00, and I recommend it!! The author's address is Donald R. Lebeau, P.O. Box 376, Pepperell, MA 01463.
