A few ramblings, if you will...

Looking back on the topics that have been tossed around net.singles for
the last year, I daresay half of them have originated from articles Jeff
has submitted. Now, I'm glad I'm not Jeff, but good ideas have been
expressed as a result of his questions and struggles to grow and gain
self-esteen.

Most of the articles to which I give the 'n' treatment are either some
topic which has grown out of hand (e.g. A says B is a bigot, B says A
is a bigot, repeated ad infinitum) or questions of terminology (e.g.
when should I use "girl" or "woman"? or what do all them acronyms
mean?)

It would streamline net.singles to keep issues like religion and gay
rights in their own newsgroups, but everything's tied together,
especially if religion or your sexual orientation is pivotal to your
world view.

The active newsgroups list doesn't give much guidance, to wit:

> net.singles Newsgroup for single people, their activities, etc.

So, what should we talk about, anyway? At the moment, the clearest
answer I can think of is: any topic pertaining to our relationships
and ourselves. Every one of us will find topics that fit such general
qualifications which drive us up the wall, especially if they've just
been discussed in net.singles last month.

As to the articles coming from those <10 people, several of those
select few have a lot of good things to say (hats tip'd to our resident
Vegan and to our pasta chef extraordinaire, for example).

I'm not in Jeff's situation (I'm scheduled to leave singlehood in
four months, for example) but there's much to learn.

Gotta go (sigh, and I haven't concluded yet).
