It seems to me that many fans get accustomed to hearing commentary from "homers", announcers paid by the home team who often pass over the line to "tout". This point of view gets confused with reality so that any commentary by a network announcer appears "biased" against their team. A coworker complains without fail whenever the Chargers or Padres are on national TV that the announcing is slanted against San Diego. At times I have really thought that the opposite was true. A suggestion to turn down the sound and listen to the local "tout" on the radio of course doesn't solve the problem of the perceived "lack- of-respect" by the national media for the local team.
