hr arrl bulletin nr 71 from arrl headquarters
newington ct. september 14, 1984
to all radio amateurs bt

fcc has proposed to reallocate half of the 160 meter band, from
1900 to 2000 khz, to nongovernment radiolocation because of an
anticipated expansion of the am broadcast band that would force
the radiolocation stations to move. although the timing of the
september release of docket 84 874 came as a surprise to the
amateur radio community, arrl acted swiftly. arrl today filed
a motion to hold this nprm in abeyance pending the resolution
of an arrl petition filed to study the mf band needs of non-
government radiolocation stations. details in the september 13
