The August or September (I don't have my copy right with me) issue of New
Shelter magazine had a pretty good test of air cleaning machines including
the ionization type as well as the fan-and-filter style.  I believe that the
best results came from the ionization systems.  You might want to check this
article out since it contained ratings, model numbers, etc for the systems
tested.
