Lines: 7 I have been reading an excellent introduction to the UNIX System which I highly recommend to those who are looking for a self-instructional means of getting started. All you need is the book - "Exploring the UNIX System", by Kochan & Wood - a logon to a UNIX system, and a terminal. This book fills the gap between a limited knowledge of UNIX up to the point where you need to know the UNIX nomenclature and philosophy to fully comprehend what some books and magazines are conveying; that is, the UNIX Ref Manual. One of the authors, Kochan, has an excellent primer on the C language, "Programming in C". Incidentally, both of these books are published by Hayden.
