For local mailing list expansion lookups, you can run the MMailbox program (or XMailbox for very old systems). It would not be too difficult to write a network "remote mailing list query" program for TOPS-20 or for that manner any operating system. I'd be surprised if it took a junior programmer more than 15 minutes to do it. I've always been lazy and TELNET'd to the SMTP server. -------
