Oh yeah? In our version they take off like a zombie with 10th level cleric after them. The only way they hang around is if they are blocked by a bunch of monsters who don't know what's going on. I find phasing (through potion or spells) to be usefull on maze levels, especially if you know where all the magic is. BTW!!!! Where is the amulet???? I got down to level 29 in 7.0 and I did a spell of detect magic to see where all the magic items where to see if could find it.(I had been doing this since level 22.) Unless some monster picked it up and hauled off with it, it wasn't there. It was a good game anyway. (I more than tripled the previous high score.)
