Here is the recipe for what I call DUMPALL.
It is very easy to make and can serve as the main mail.

1) Cut a medium sized Onion to small pieces.
2) Cut two tomatoes into medium small pieces.
3) Start boiling one cup of red lentils in a small vessel.
3) Take a medium sized vessel(approx. 1 liter capacity).
4) Fry the onions with oil or margarine for approximately
3 minutes. Preferably add little bit turmeric powder.
5) Add one spoon of spicy paste (curry paste) if available.
6) Add the tomatoes which you have previously cut.
7) Add chilly powder. the quantity depends on how hot you
want the DUMPALL to be. One or Two teaspoons are normal.
8) Now add frozen vegetable. The ideal mixture is peas,
carrots, beans and corn. The quantity is variable but
experience shows that it is quite good if after putting the vegetable the
   vessel is half full.
9) Keep stirring for 3 or 4 minutes.
10) Pour the red lentils which you have so far been boiling into this
    vessel.
11) Now is the time to put rice. The quantity depends on the taste
    of individual.
Maximun quantity is 1/3 of the volume remaining in the vessel.
12) Now pour water into this. Quantity is slightly less than
two times the amount of rice you have put in.
13) Add one teaspoon full of salt.
14) Allow the whole thing to boil for a few minutes.
15) When it starts boiling vigorously turn the stove to minimum.
16) Wait until the boiling settles down(i.e the bubbles subside).
17) Cover the vessel with a plate.
18) Within 15 to 20 minutes after this, DUMPALL should be ready
    to eat.
19) There is actually no need for a side dish since it contains
everything. But if you want something then
Sour cream or Potato Chips will go fine with this.

Enjoy! The whole thing will not take more than 40 to 45 minutes
to cook. Also you are free after the first 20 or so minutes.

                                    Bopsi Chandramouli.
