Depressing? Mmmhhh... how about gritty, cynical, and jaded? I thought the young girl was played fairly realistically (though I doubt there's ANYONE that naive in Hollywood). Besides, this seemed to be the only horror movie coming out of CA today with no exploding heads/eyeballs/stomachs. I don't know... would you consider Ms. Tree depressing (it is probably has the heaviest atmosphere of any comic on the market, i.e. the whole world is a garbage can).
