What is a nit anyway? We all have a good idea what nit-picking is, but why is picking a nit compared to minute and unjustified criticism? Well, the dictionary holds the answer. Ten points to all of you who knew that it was the egg of a louse or other parasitic insect. You also get credit if you said it was the insect itself when young. The word is from the Middle English "nite," which is from the Old English "hnitu," which is akin to the Old High German "hniz," and the Greek "konid." I think the problem is that people don't read what they are posting. The really annoying thing is people who do somging like saying a few lines down in a documument, "Oh that should have been something not somging." -Ron
