Alan,
A couple of comments to your inquiry on interracial dating:
1) The operative term is "Asian" not "oriental."  Oriental is akin to
Negro and considered demeaning.
2) The fact that you were born in the U.S.A indicates that you are an
American not a Chinese.  Even though you (legitimately) feel that you are
of Chinese heritage, I'm sure that you probably consider yourself an
American.  This point is important to those of us who are of 2nd, 3rd, etc.
generation Americans to distinguish ourselves of that identity.
3) You are not being paranoid. There are a lot of racist people out there
in the world, no matter where you are.  I have not consciously perceived
any hostility towards me/us when I'm out with my Caucasian wife but she
notices some of it sometimes.  Since this country is made up of a majority
population of white people, anybody who is not white is considered to
a minority.  Asians fall into that category.  However we (Asians) are
perceived with more ambiguity than most other minorities, e.g. Blacks.
But that depends on the area of the country also.
