Try:

    copy file1 file2
    copy file2+,,
    comp file1 file2

The behavior of this sequence led to my posting of a program that works right.
If the command sequence seems to work, start with another `file1'.  I'll leave
the reason for the problem as an exercise for the reader.

BTW, "copy fname+nul file" doesn't work the same way that "copy fname+,,"
doesn't.
