We had a male cat for 9 years with no front claws. He had no trouble climbing
trees. Since he was declawed as a kitten, he had no idea they were missing.

In 19 years, I have never had a cat hurt in a cat-dog fight. Cats are too
smart to fight a dog if they can't win. However cat-cat fights are a real
problem with male cats. Most of the wounds are caused by bites to the head
which become abscessed.
