L'Isle Joyeux (Debussy) Message-ID: <1129@eosp1.UUCP> Date: Wed, 19-Sep-84 16:42:38 EDT Article-I.D.: eosp1.1129 Posted: Wed Sep 19 16:42:38 1984 Date-Received: Tue, 25-Sep-84 06:18:09 EDT Organization: Exxon Office Systems, Princeton, NJ Lines: 19 References: For another opinion: Horowitz's recording of L"Isle Joyeux (a wonderful piece of music) is also one of the most wonderful recordings of anything. It's a remarkable (and live) performance, but you do have to both appreciate, and enjoy, Horowitz's methods of interpretation, or it might annoy you. I never had any trouble hearing that last maestoso statement as 3/4 time, even before I purchased the music and started playing it. I think that the way Horowitz makes the first beat of each measure hang in the air (for almost two beats) is sheer magic. - Toby Robison (not Robinson!) allegra!eosp1!robison or: decvax!ittvax!eosp1!robison or (emergency): princeton!eosp1!robison
