   A great place to be is Greece. I can give you a lot of info. for 
specific places to visit (if you are really interested). As far as I
know you may be able to find a temporary job (e.g. consulting) at
the Computer Science Institute of Crete. That I believe, is one of the 
ideal ways of combining great vacations with interesting work.
(The CSIC participates in the ESPRIT project-- a Europian project
sponsoring research in various fields of CS).
