... incompatible driving peeve:

1) The Connecticut Stomp.

If you are stopped at a light and the car directly across from you has
his left turn signal on he will, in 95% of the cases, attempt to make
his left turn before you get off the line. Being new to the area and from
the flat-lands of Ohio, this is very disconcerting. The more I drive
in Connecticut the more I find that this is the local WRONG. The local
population has become trained to wait for the left turn before proceeding.
----

So you're new to Connecticut. Congratulations! Perhaps I can offer
you a little insight on the subject, since that was my original stomping
ground. One Saturday afternoon in the near future, try driving up and down US
1 in Westport. See all the poor drivers trying to turn left, although they
have a beachball's chance in Kansas of being able to make the turn in a finite
amount of time.
Things have been getting a bit better, though; they've been adding a
few more left arrows on the traffic lights in that area recently.
Remember too, you'll soon appreciate Connecticut drivers once you realize
you're surrounded by the insane hordes from Massachusetts, New York City, and
New Jersey.
