Why should IBM have to take over Intel?  They already own a good percentage
(22% I think, with an option for up to 30%), and they are Intel's largest
customer for 8086 and 64K memory family components.  This gives them a good
deal of control, without the heartache of antitrust suits.

In any case, the management at Intel seem to think that the sun rises and
sets on IBM.  The silliest and least consequential of technical decisions at
IBM is greeted like the Grail of the Lemmings.
