I'll >give you a clue: If you don't make any money, your business doesn't pay >any corporate taxes. Yes, it's based on profits. What I see here is the classic case of cyclic reasoning. Taking what I just read here one step further, when there are no profits and companies aren't paying corporate taxes, the government must once again raise taxes to retain its high standard of living. It's a never ending loop. Soon we'll all be paying nearly 100% in taxes. Makes me wonder if democracy is doomed to failure. Remember, in our early years of independence, there were no taxes. None whatsoever. Thats what our fight for freedom was all about. Now look at what we have. Extrapolate for the future. Depressing, isn't it? BTW, if no one has any money to spend, just think what will happen to our economy. Not a pleasant thought. Thats why in Carter's administration(whose policies Mondale and the democrats want to continue, not having learned their lesson the first time) our economy was in sad shape. Inflation spiraling upwards, unemployment, high interest rates, etc. And I still remember the democrats claiming that there is no way the policies of the present administration would solve those problems. Wrong. But now the democrats are finding other things to nitpick about. There is always something. Its all very silly. I for one think the present administration has done a very reasonable job. Everyone has faults though. But I'll take them with a grain of salt. I really think things are a lot better now than four years ago. I don't want to see a return to that state. Robert
