First of all, make sure that a reasonable UHF signal is being delivered
to the VCR.  Will the signal display properly on a conventional 
television?  If the signal is weak, you can buy a broadband VHF/UHF
amp to boost it.  I recommend dealing with commercial cable-tv supply
houses rather than Radio Shack type outlets whenever possible.
