I bought my IBM PC because it best fit my broad-purpose needs at the
time I bought it, not because IBM makes it.  Although I have owned
a couple of Selectrics also, I would rather not support such over-
whelming corporate presence.  BUT FOR MY NEEDS, these three products
fit far better than the competition's.

I am sure there are a lot of people that buy because of name.  But
most people I know try to make knowledgeable decisions to the best
of their abilities.  You might note that the PCjr has been a flop;
the reaction to it has forced IBM to *improve* it and to spend tens
of millions on advertising.

I will probably buy a SONY Beta Hi-Fi because it fits my needs at
this time, has the features that I want, and is technically sound.
What's more, my local discount store has a good price.  I will
probably get a VHS Hi-Fi some day for the same reasons, but I
