Bell Laboratories (or is it ATT Technologies?) has a data analysis
and display package called S. It's device independent and being
ported to *many* UNIX machines. It has been used here to make plots
on SUNs (b&w and color), a line-printer, a tek4014, with hpgl,
on a QMS, and via plot(1). I am most impressed and pleased with S. It's
especially nice on a SUN (and probably other similar machines) which
has a bit-mapped screen and graphics windows. According to the literature
from ATT you should contact one of the following:

Technology Licensing Manager
ATT
PO Box 25000
Greensboro, North Carolina 27420

for educational organizations:
Bell Laboratories
Computer Information Service
600 Mountain Ave
Murray Hill NJ 07974

It cost us $800 ($400 for the license and $400 for the *source*).
I have heard that it's about $15k for non-educational types.
Judith Macor at Murray Hill had been most helpful in getting us S.

Give me a call or send mail if you have further questions.
