No, Jeff, you've interpreted what I was saying all wrong.  I was arguing
on the assumption that somebody was an ERA supporter before, and no more; I
had no interest in arguing the actual principles of the Amendment.  What I
was saying was that one should not be against it ON ACCOUNT OF THE FACT THAT
IT WAS NOT ADDED TO THE CONSTITUTION, nothing more.  The issue is not dead -
only the recent campaign to enact it.  Issues don't die.  (They do sometimes
fade away :-) )

I do not attempt to deny that people have and had good reasons for supporting
and opposing ERA.
