There will be a series of lectures on Poetry and Neo-hellenic Studies
to mark the establishment of the Elytis Chair at Rutgers University.
They will all take place at the Nicholas Music Center in the 
Douglas College Campus in New Jersey. The speaker is Peter Bien,
Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Dartmouth.
Information on the three lectures follows:

Thursday, Sept. 20, 7:30pm: "The meaning of poetry in human experience,
			     illustated through Homer, classical theory,
			     and Elytis' poetry".

Thursday, Oct.  18, 7:30pm: "Greek folk song in the demotic Renaissance"

Thursday, Nov.  15, 7:30pm: "Greek poetry flourishing in the 20th century:
			     Two Nobel laureates and others (Seferis,
			     Elytis, Kavafy, Ritsos)
