If it often comes out right the first or second time, it is less important that the processing times are longer. Could you send me a copy of the benchmark? I'd like to push it through Scribe and see what its timings are. In similar tests in the past Scribe has been slightly faster than TeX, but timings of course vary widely depending on what you are doing.
