Prior to 1965, the B-52 was obsolete.  But then came Viet Nam and the
venerable old bird proved herself as a conventional bomber.  Currently,
the B-52 is enjoying a resurgence as a cruise missle carrier.  They
may still last for a few years if the wings don't keep falling off while
they sit on the ground.
