Statistics Lines: 12 I have a serious question. Sugar imports from Nicaragua are banned, yet I can still buy Nicaraguan bananas. If the purpose of the sugar embargo is to weaken the Nicaraguan economy, is this not a contradiction? Are bananas excepted since there is no US banana industry to protect, and gain votes for Reagan?
