Well, Mr. Berry, perhaps that's the problem.
Given:
 	a) that there are things wrong in the world
and     b) that you want to change these things (or at least try),

part of the way to do this is to convince people that your way of thinking
of things is right and theirs is wrong, i.e. change their minds. Then if
enough of you are joined in the cause, you might be able to get laws passed,
etc., etc., etc. This *is* taking responsibility for the way people think.

Put another way: It's true, you are not personally responsible for these
peoples' upbringing. However, you are responsible for trying to change what
they think and how they think. 

That's the way progress is achieved.
