i have seen shared images used for data sharing by many mains, one with a
sub.  i duplicated the effort, once, when searching for an alternative to
global sections.  if you wish, i can mail you the (.C, .MAR, .COM) source
for it.  a suggestion, though: don't bother.  in our environment, we need
to do our testing in one group and production in another; since shared
images must be installed, there can only be one per system with a given
name.  use global-sections; they work, are fast, can be backed up dynamic-
ally.  the only disadvantage is having to map them at run time, and one
gets used to this.
