I grew up about three miles from Celestron and watched them move from
smaller to larger buildings.  Generally, their optics are superior,
they are not as good as, say Questar, but the light gathering power
for equalivalent money makes up for that in my opinion.

Three friends own 8 inchers and I would like to get one, too.  All
paid $900s for complete scopes.  Two purchased cosmetic-defect, second scopes
from the factory (they have sales occasionally in Torrance).
No optical problems.  If you can pick
one up cheap, do it!  If not, they are still relatively good buys.
