My husband and I recently ordered an '85 Mustang
GT (they skipped right over the 205 hp and went to 210!).
At the very last minute, before the dealer wrote up the order,
one of the other salesmen said, 'I hope you got the optional
308 rear.' Now we never heard about this option before.
Evidently the GT comes standard with I think its a 273 rear
differential, but you can upgrade it to a 308 at no extra cost.
The salesman said the larger (or is it really smaller) gear ratio would
noticeably improve your speed off the line; and he claims you
wouldn't notice any great MPG usage. He claims to have ordered
and ridden in GTs with this option and really noticed a difference.
As an aside, he (and the car magazines) also swear that the
suspension and handling in the new GT is far superior to the
older models.
				IROC owners beware!
