Be careful calling anyone "gal" in the UCSD area.
Last time this topic came up (approximately December, 1983),
I remember that Lady Arwen didn't like to be called "gal" because
it sounded too much like "buffalo gal".  She also threatened to
bite anyone who called her "gal".  She even preferred "girl", but
of course she's older now...

I wonder if her chocolate chip cookie recipe has been perfected yet?
