While this discussion is going I'd like to add one of my favorite
driving-with-an-anal-view maneuvers. I call it a "Buffalo Turn"
because a friend of mine who took a job in Buffalo NY reported to me
that it was uncommomly common in that city. This maneuver is the
following:

While in the right hand lane, driver begins executing a right hand turn
(presence or lack of turn signalling is not germaine here). Driver
commences right hand turn by swinging to the LEFT, occupying about half
of the left hand lane, then completing the turn to the right. In the
meantime, the driver in the left hand lane who was cut off or almost
side-swiped has a nervous breakdown. (The last step is not required,
but is a frequent concurrent operation.)
