Once upon a time, during WWII, a train was traveling through
occupied France. This was a fairly ordinary passenger train,
and in one of the compartments sat four people: an elderly French
woman, a beautiful young French miss, a young French man, and
a German officer.

Suddenly, the train plunged into a tunnel, and the compartment
became pitch black. A sound like a big smooching kiss was heard,
followed immediately by an even louder "SLAP"!

The train emerged from the tunnel, and as soon as the light
was restored, everyone looked around to find the German officer
nursing a black eye.

The old French woman thought "My, how virtuous of that young lady! We
need more young woman just like her; especially with these Germans."

The lovely young woman thought "That's strange. Why should that
German officer try to kiss the old woman instead of me?"

The German officer was thinking "That Frenchman's no fool! He steals
a kiss, and I get blamed for it!"

And the Frenchman was thinking "Ah, how clever I am! I kiss the
back of my hand, hit the German officer, and no one suspects me for it!"
