1. What:

A gathering for social entertainment or the entertain-
ment itself, often of a specific nature. Viz., a party.

2. Why:

To Celebrate. Celebrate the end of summer. Celebrate
Tom (C.T. the Counter-terrestrial) Wilkes' and Gene (the
Vegan Mutant) Spafford's new address. Celebrating Dave and
Amy getting hitched. Celebrating Spaf and Eric passing
their qualifiers and getting their thesis topics approved.
Celebrating that C.T. and Dave (Captain Cognition) Pitts
will soon do likewise. Celebrating an almost one-year
anniversary of Dave (Captain Togo) Phelps surviving his
close encounter with a van of the EES kind while practicing
for the Olympic speed-bump trials.

In short, we're celebrating a lot. As if we really
need an excuse. However, to make sure we don't miss any
(excuse), we'll have a sheet at the door for people to list
things worth celebrating. Hopefully, we'll be able to cele-
brate the presence of lots of our friends at our party.

3.  Who(m):

C.T. and Spaf are basically responsible for the party,
with some probable assistance from such luminaries as Kathy
(Bee Bait) Heaphy, Dave (Speed Bump) Phelps, Waldo the
Wonder Duck, and a cast of tens. This might be considered
to be an official Friends of Entropy event, but the Friends
never plan things in advance.

As to the guests, if you're reading this, you're
invited! (Telepathically reading this through someone else
is also okay. But you knew that already.)

Please, no chain-saw murderers. No exploding Scotsmen
or exploding penguins. Wombats welcome.

4. When:

The evening of Saturday, September 29th. After 7 pm.
Until whenever.

5. Where:

At the new abode of C.T. and Spaf: 990 Tennyson Drive
NW, Atlanta GA, USA, Terra/Sol, beyond reality and through
the woods. Directions below somewhere.

6. Bring:

Yourself. A friend. Someone you'd like to have as a
friend (hint: point us out and note how you're much saner
than we are). A spousal unit (yours or someone else's).
Hamsters.

We'll supply a limited supply of munchies. Also some
beer, ice, iced tea, some soft drinks, chilled water, and
crunchy rocks. If you have special preferences or anything
in particular you'd like to inflict on the group, please
feel free to bring it (unless the transport, display, or use
of such items would incur the ire of judicial and police
officials).

As per usual, gifts of gold, precious gems, and nubile
sheep are always appreciated. Also, piranha or sea serpents
to help stock the moat, and livestock to feed same. Rare
wines, exotic cheeses, and large pieces of chocolate are
also encouraged.

7. Restrictions:

Smoking inside is not permitted. Offenders will be
violated. Anyone drinking large amounts of alcohol may be
asked to surrender their keys until they evidence restored
coordination. If you want to get falling down (or leaning
over) drunk, please do it at home.

Park in the street. Please DO NOT block any driveways
or other cars.

8. Amusements:

Well, there should be lots of good company. Besides
the usual computer nerds and Techies, we'll be inviting
guests from lots of other places. We'll also have a few
games scattered about, some odd video tapes (to please
everyone, we'd have to have titles like "Gidget does God-
zilla"; we'll have to make do with "Plan 9"), and later in
the evening we may teach people to play "Bite the Bag."
Other suggestions welcomed.

9. Directions:

From downtown Atlanta, go north on I-75 to the Howell
Mill Road exit (#105). Go north on Howell Mill Road (a
right turn from northbound exit). The first light at a
street is Collier Road. Go straight through and continue to
follow Howell Mill Road as it curves left. The 5th road on
the left after Collier is Northcliffe -- turn left on North-
cliffe. Take your next left turn and immediate right onto
Tennyson.

From Cobb County environs, come south on I-75 to the
Moore's Mill Road exit (#106). Turn left (eastbound) on
Moore's Mill. Turn right at the first light (Northside
Drive). After the next light, and just after the bend in the
road beyond, take Northcliffe to your right.

10. RSVP

Please let us know if you're coming, and about how many
of you there are. Try any of the following:
               phone (404) 355-8353 evenings
               phone (404) 894-6169 weekdays
uucp mail to ...gatech!spaf -or- ...gatech!wilkes
CSnet mail to spaf@gatech -or- wilkes@gatech
                         telepathy

11. Special considerations for out-of-town guests:

We have multiple instances of fold-out couches. We
also have lots of room for sleeping bags. Amphibious visi-
tors may appreciate the stream and cushy mud bank in the
front yard. More conventional accomodations may be arranged
if we are given enough warning. Room is available in Spaf's
waterbed for female guests, housepets, and attractive plants
-- however, you have to get by Kathy (Spaf's Squeeze) first.
C.T. doesn't have an Irish chaperone, but neither does he
have a large bed. He does have room to hang in his closet,
however, if you are so inclined (inverted).

Atlanta has excellent air connections for you soar-
heads. Most airlines visit here on their way to other, more
dreary places. For those of you who have a fear of flying,
Atlanta is also served by Amtrak and the various bus ser-
vices. Let us know your schedule and we'll try to arrange
ground transportation.

Drivers and hitchhikers can arrive via I-75 (from Ohio
and points NW), I-85 (from NJ, New England, points NE), and
I-20 (Alabama, Texas, and points West). Further details
available on request.

Travelers from other planets and dimensions probably
already know the way. Just home in on the beacon, as usual.
However, please let us know if you have any special landing
requirements, or if your craft emits any radiation or sub-
stance requiring the filing of an environmental impact
statement.

Please let us know if you're traveling any major dis-
tance to come to the party -- we'll arrange amusements for
Friday night and Saturday. Sunday morning, of course, will
be devoted to burying the dead, and looting and pillaging
the comatose.
