My employers manufacture a system that would seem to fit your requirements, except for being a VAX. It is a Dual Systems 83/80. It has a fast 80Mbyte disk with a controller that has a full track buffer, serial I/O processors and comes with a UNIX port. It has done very well in some benchmarks performed by Yates Ventures I believe. I am an engineer here and not a sales person.
