I've auditioned the Audioquest 404 high-output moving coil and am quite impressed. My system: Apt Holman Apt1 preamp Hafler DH-220 power amp Mission 70 speakers dbx 3bx dynamic range expander dbx 224 noise reduction MicroSieki DD33 turntable MikroSieki adjustable-resonance tonearm The Apt does not have a moving coil input, so although I like the sound of moving coil, I'm trying to stay away from them (unless you can suggest a cartridge/step-up amp combo that doesn't exceed my price range...) I was quoted $225 for the Audioquest 404. Can I do better? I'm a poor student who needs to watch his pennies... Any mail order houses carry this beast? Your help is much appreciated.
