   I read another editorial about this marvelous brewer that had some      
interesting facts:

 1) Coffemakers in comercial airlines cost around $2800

 2) These coffemakers are 10% coffemaker and 90% airplane part. They have
    to conform to all the FAA rules for safety and weight. The 40g test
    is to ensure that it doesn't become a 20lb missle during a crash.

 3) Part of the military procurement problem is that fact that the 
    goverment buys small quanities at a time. Tooling and setup fees
    become a major part of the the parts cost.
