This is blunter but still looking for semiotic(1) definitions---just what constitutes an overt sexual advance? If he starts petting in public you might hit him, so what does his hand on/around your shoulders mean? I've finally gotten it through an exceedingly thick skull that there are women who touch or hug out of pure friendliness, that there are women who talk ribaldly (or even foully) with no intention of bedding me or anyone else in the neighborhood, etc. Enough. You can't be reasonably sure with a recent friend without telepathy, and most of us probably couldn't live with telepathy.
