	Country

	I never worried much
	'bout wakin' neighbors
	out here
		where sundown
		don't mean
		street lights;
		out here
		sundown means
		starlight.
	I never worried
	'bout pullin' window shades
	or keepin' my voice down
		'less mom had headaches.

	Out here,
		we worked long days,
		and ate big meals,
		and slept good at night.
	When folks'd come 'round
	we'd tend to smile alot.

Country folks watch alot of football
	and country folks are friendly
	and country folks marry young,
'cause it's a long way into town.

However, I have lived in cities,
		in apartments,
		and suburban homes,
and I find that country speech
no longer snuggles warmly in my ear,
	and country words
make my face feel as though
	I am trying
	new foods.

	My
	words flow like newsprint.
I speak in the manner of
	talk-show hosts.
	And
	I rarely use contractions,
		because the country
		is so far away.

BTW, just realized I had this lying in one of my directories and
thought, hey, that's not bad (ego). Comments are always appreciated.
