I first heard it about 3 years ago at Virginia Commonwealth University. I don't remember the circumstances (perhaps it was on a bumper sticker) but I thought that the idea was novel and funny to say the least. I personally don't follow this philosophy, I feel that in the first place, I wouldn't want to be 'holding' something (as it suggests) and in the second place, I personally don't wish to be held.
