At first I looked forward to passing (and showing-up) the slow pokes as an opportunity to add variety to an otherwise paced (and boring) regime. That is, until I had a few head-ons with people in the other lane doing the same thing. But what really, really makes me mad are the ding-dongs that get into the medium speed lane, swim a few laps as fast as they can, and then get out. What's the point? Swimming in circles is a dumb idea any way. Now I swim on days when the pool isn't crowded enough to require swimming in circles, and run or lift weights on the other days. As a result my swimming has improved and I have fewer bruises (there are still few people that can't tell difference between clockwise and counterclockwise). Dan Daily
