Imported cars have to meet the same regulations as U.S. cars do!
There are no, I repeat *NO*, exemptions for foreign cars.  Worse yet,
Japanese automakers are limited in how many cars they can sell.

Second, the car in question (that beat all the U.S. dinosaurs) is a VW
Rabbit (soon to be a Golf), manufactured in the U.S. of A!  So why is
it better?  Well, it was designed by VW, right?  Not by GM, or Ford,
or Chrysler?  Hmmmmm....
