I know what you mean--University of Lowell uses DECwriter III terminals
at that same 300 baud as regular terminals on a CDC Cyber 170/730.
Luckily, only the freshman CS programming courses and other programming
courses (in math and eng. depts.) have to put up with it.  The print
quality on both the Letterwriter 100 and DECwriter sucks, also.

At ULowell, if you're lucky enough to be an upperclassman, you actually
get to have an account on their VAX 11/780, running only VMS (no Unix),
which uses Letterwriter 100's as printers in the computer room( they have
two.)  Somebody took the black covers off, though.
