This is the Group B homologation model of the 911. Its features include (some of these are not definite, but are pre-announcement info): - 4-wheel drive - 2.9 litre air-cooled engine - water-cooled cylinder heads - twin turbos - 450 hp for the street, 600 hp competition version - gorgeous aero bodywork - Dunlop Denlok ultra-low-profile, run-flat tires The engine is basically a tuned-down 956 engine. The price tag was set at $124,000. Now, that's Canadian dollars, and translates to about US$95,000. However, the announcement did not say whether the price was German or North American; and the pre-release rumours did predict a German price of 250,000 DM ($125,000). Peter Schutz (chairman of Dr.Ing.h.c.F.Porsche GmbH) has said that this is the model Porsche plans as its re-entry into the high-end U.S. market. The U.S. hasn't seen a 911 turbo since about 1977, even though it is available in Canada (price: $82,000. power: 300 hp). I'd love to see this beast in a comparison test with the new Ferrari GTO. If anybody has any more information, I'd appreciate hearing it (even if I can't afford one of these for at least another 10 years...)
