Just a quick aside . . . Do they support your opinions? Not that I am against story telling, on the contrary, I believe stories can be very effective rhetorical devices. I am aware, however, that you do have opinions :-) There are times when I feel it is better to dispose with the verbosity in favor of something that is a little more direct. Directness requires a certain amount of courage. It exposes a little of yourself to public scrutiny. It reveals a level of honesty to speak out in plain words. It may leave you open to misinterpretation, but communication can also be considered a test of the listener's patience as well as the speaker's, and the thing is, you will eventually become direct as you begin to understand things that become harder to express. This is where you will find that your real friends will be patient enough to understand your direct statements. It is not my intention to make remarks about statements taken out of context, I noticed it, and I felt I should respond to it. Whether or not this has any reflection on you is arbitrary. I really don't know you well enough to really understand what you meant by that. I will repeat that I am not against story telling, unless you feel somehow that it doesn't express an opinion. That would be a form of insincerity. Perhaps you could respond to this. ----{ john williams }---- < are we having fun yet? > (DEC E-NET) KIRK::WILLIAMS (UUCP) {decvax, ucbvax, allegra}!decwrl!dec-rhea!dec-kirk!williams (ARPA) williams%kirk.DEC@decwrl.ARPA williams%kirk.DEC@Purdue-Merlin.ARPA
