After some
futile argument that the agent doesn't know what he's doing, I got the 
old rate at another airline. But I can't believe what just happened.
I can just imagine the chaos that would ensue if every business was 
run this way.

Last year sometime, one of the TV documentary programs (60 minutes?) ran
a spot on airline ticket prices. The found things like a factor of
two difference on ticket prices - on the same flight, through different
branches of the same company.

The airline in question didn't have any comments.
