working on a zillion different machines, one tends to put
the machine name into the prompt, such as:

PS1="(`uname`) "

then, create a does-nothing file in your bin such as

(exit 0);

and give the file the same name as your machine. Then the
"enter" key on HP terminals (at least the 2600 series)
works nicely.  Though it doesn't get used as much since
I switched to ksh, with the nifto history mechanism.
Still handy for grabbing things off the screen and sticking them
in files, though.
