Here's what I've been able to find out about chess computers so far.
If anyone has anything to add, I'd love to hear about it.

Constellation 3 by Novak $250 - supposedly rated at 2000+
Savant 2 by Novak $279 - ???
Superstar by Scisys $190 - 8 levels
Championship by Scisys $159 - 7 levels
Prestige by Fidelity $1295 - rated at appx. 1900 [thanks, Stuart]
Elite by Fidelity $450 - full 2" playing squares
Chess Challenger by Fidelity $246 - one version of this speaks to you
Destiny by ??? $129
Grandmaster by Milton Bradley $495 - 12 levels

The Prestige and the Grandmaster are supposed to be the best machines;
neither is available locally in the Bay Area. If you have had any
experience with any of these units - or any I haven't mentioned -
please let me hear from you. Thanks,
