When I took driver training in DC in 1965, we were warned by the instructor
that we should always signal lane changes in Maryland and Virginia,
but never in DC, since it was called a "false turn" and was against the
law.

Does anyone know if there was/is such a thing as a DC law against "False Turns?"
We just took it on faith.
