OK, here are my comments.... [well, someone asked ! :-) ]

This advice seems to be directed at someone trying to "catch" a
"guido". [my insincere :-) apologies for the use of the term "guido", but
it's used a lot around here in NJ and seems to concisely express
the idea ----> that of a macho, not-too-bright, insensitive, Ken-doll...
y'know, the 70's disco kind of guy... shirt open to navel, tons
of gold chain, industrial strength hair... ;-) anyway, if you were
offended, then I'm sorry.....but it seems to me that you've got
that ol' offensensitivity turned up too high !!! :-) ]

Anyway, I certainly wouldn't want anything to do with a woman that
followed this advice [but then, she wouldn't want anything to
do with me either I'm sure]. Assuming that this book sells, and
there are people out there ready to take its advice to heart, it sure
seems a shame that there are so many [adult?] people still playing those
old "High School games".... such is life :-(

>Have you ever noticed how a man you've treated with indifference
>keeps coming back again and again.....

I was at a party the other day talking with a
friend of mine who had recently broken up with his
girlfriend [lady-friend, woman-friend, etc. ]. Evidently, she [and he] had been
following the advice implied by the quote above.
She would treat him rather poorly and ignore him until he started to
get fed up and ignore her, whereupon she did a 180 degree flip.
After a bit, he became re-interested and re-involved,
so she would go back to being rather distant and at times
most unpleasant. [Hey, I'm doing a good job with my
language so far... :-) no slang or cussing... hot damn !
whoops! :-) ] I know that I've only heard his side, so
there's a good possibility that he wasn't totally inoccent
either [of being "unpleasant" above and beyond indifference],
but that's irrelevant at this point.

The point is that in at least this one case [can someone do
an inductive proof to show this for all cases ;-)] following the
quoted advice results in a lot of unpleasantness and the
eventual death of a relationship.
And what kind of relationship would it be anyway...
one party callously controlling the other...
master and faithful dog....
not too satisfying to my mind.

Why doesn't someone write a book advising people to treat
each other like humans ?!? No, no... to radical I guess.
