This is supposed to be a serious argument in favor of American Cars?
Seriously, I've been through two brake failures myself ('69 Mustang).
I've probably logged 150,000 miles of driving in the past decade, about
equally split between Detroit's finest (Chevy's and Fords) and Germany's
(An Audi and a VW Rabbit). In that entire time, I've never had a
serious on-road failure of the safety mechanisms on either foriegn car;
In addition to the brake failures, I've had several flats -- a safety
issue on the US cars -- no sweat on the Audi.

I still contend that the greatest threat to the safety of my VW is all
those damn Buicks and Oldsmobiles on the Ryan.
