At the recent annual meeting of NZART, the New Zealand national society, Ian Ashley, ZL1AOX was presented a certificate of merit naming him as Amateur of the Year for 1983 for his work as an AO-10 telecommand station and for his pioneering work in packet radio. I know I express the congratulations of all the AMSAT membership to Ian for this most deserved award.
