    Yes, there sure havs been a flood of inappropriate articles to net.general
lately.

    Most of them come from newcomers who do not know about the meaning of
"general" as used in this context.

    As UN*X(tm,esq, PhD,etc) becomes still more widespread, we will be joined
by ever more people who don't already know ...

    The problem could be solved by changing the non-obvious name "general"
to something self-explainatory.  Eg: net.all, net.everybody, net.worldwide.
Even  net.everyBodyInTheWorld  would be more clear, if a tad unwieldy.
