If she did, why did she let Kirk leave him on Genesis? 2) Why didn't Starfleet use the prefix code to stop Kirk from stealing the Enterprise? 3) What was the timespan of ST II? It didn't seem very long at all. Recall that the Enterprise had just been refitted. Why, all of a sudden, is it not going to be refitted? It's not like it's been out for years, after all, just one short journey since a major overhaul. Makes the overhaul go to waste. 4) When the Enterprise was entering Spacedock, and they showed the lounge and its patrons ooo'ing and ah'ing, they showed one woman's face; she was shaking her head. Who was she, and what was her purpose in the movie? I thought then that she was some higher-up, disgusted with what Kirk had done to the ship, and about to take away his command; I was surprised to find out she had no further part in the movie. It left sort of a hole. A few general comments now. I liked the movie a lot, but it seemed very Vaudevillish for a ST movie; I like humor, but maybe they put in too much for this type of film. In particular, the captains of the Excelsior and the Grissom were much too corny. I didn't like them at all. James Doohan seems to have gained a lot of weight. Also, he and DeForest Kelley looked much older than in ST II. As for DeForest, his age appearance kept going back and forth in the film (from young to old). I found myself much more upset by the death of David and the destruction of the Enterprise than I was by Spock's death. Maybe it's because I knew that Spock was going to die, but, then again, I knew the Enterprise would be destroyed. When it was destroyed, I let out a big yelp. David's death, though, really shocked me. Not so much when it happened as it did today, one day later. It really hit me tonight; I can't really describe it, bit I feel sickened (not that they did it in the movie, but that the Klingons killed him) and very grievous. I can't get that scene out of my mind. Overall, I liked it a lot. I liked ST II better (more action, more believable, and I think more entertaining), but I liked ST III a lot.
