If you can't recut 'em, you'll have to do something--cleaning the hull
and balancing the helm will help, but it's all in the sails.  The USA's
until recent domination of the America's Cup competition was due to
superior sail technology.  What are you sailing?  If it isn't rigged
with a cunningham, make one.  Also check the vang--you may need one
with more mechanical advantage (be careful here).   You've got to get
the main flattened out.
