The problem is, of course, that there are many things that do not translate well into movie form and, thus, are not done. They make marvelous diversions in the books, though. An example of this, I think, is 2001. In some places, 2001 slows down to a snails pace. All true to the book, but VERY VERY DULL. Also, only a real hardcore trekkie would sit through a five hour retelling of "The Wrath of Khan", complete with all the little intricacies that got put in the book. Thus, the books can get away with adding alot more information about what's going on. Think of the two as a matched set. -- Peter Merchant
