Jeff,

I think the reason a number of people objected to your "plugging religion"
is that they (and I tend to classify myself in this group) think net.singles
to be an inappropriate forum for this.  That's what net.religion is for.
Certainly religion helps some people in their interpersonal interactions,
but a great many (again, I include myself) manage to stumble along fine
without it: to them, the suggestion that religion is some sort of panacea is
irritating at best, offensive at worst.

I personally think that the most important factors affecting one's
interpersonal interactions are one's attitudes towards oneself and towards
others -- and religion is neither necessary nor sufficient to give one the
"proper" attitudes.
