Sorry Walt, you are mistaken about the Mackenzie Phillips trivia.
"American Graffiti" is a movie about a kid's last night in his
home town before he leaves for college (and the subsequent
weird happenings).  It is set in late fifties/early sixties (not
sure which).  Stars of the picture included Suzanne Somers --
the elusive blond in the white Thunderbird.... remember now?
It was about cruisin' and all that good stuff that the hero,
played by Richard Dreyfus, was already getting nostalgic about.
