The Klingon Bird-of-Prey did not destroy a Reliant class star-ship. The Grisholm (sp?) was a small science ship much smaller than the Reliant. Take another look as it orbits Genesis. You'll see that it has a similar shape to Reliant but the Primary hull is connected to the engines differently. It's hard to tell but in the battle between Grisholm and the Bird-of-Prey, I think the Klingon ship is much larger than the Federation ship. Again, it's hard to get relativity in space battles. Now between the Klingon and Enterprise, if the Enterprise were in normal repair, it could have kicked the Bird-of-Prey's butt from here to the Klingon throne world. It was only the fact that the Enterprise was seriously wounded from Kahn's fooling around that kept the shields from coming up and letting the Klingon torpedo hit the Enterprise. Another hint from the movie, Kruge says something to the fact that the Enterprise should not have been hurt from his attack, maybe it was playing possum. Wrapping this up, the Bird-of-Prey was lucky in the fact that the Starship it picked on was already hurt. Imagine how the story would differ if the Enterprise was in decent repair . . . Klingon turns off cloaking device.' Kirk lets loose full photon-torpedo burst and Phaser attack. Klingon debris falls into Genesis' atmosphere. .
