No, I believe Saavik knows what she's talking about, and DC Comics just messed up completely, since no one told them better. But I wonder about Romulans. Since they are still warlike and have not suppressed their emotions, my guess is that they do not suffer Pon Farr, but are more like humans in this respect (Re the Romulan captain in The Enterprise Incident). Since Saavik is half Romulan and half Vulcan, I don't see why any Vulcan would want to marry her, unless to get into her adopted (prestigious) family - does anyone have a reliable (not DC) source as to whether she really was brought up by Sarek?
