Since it received some response, I'm reposting in slightly different
form.]

By "academic humanists" I mean people professionally employed in one of
the traditional humanistic disciplines--graduate students and professors
of literature, history, philosophy, religion; editors of learned
journals; free-lance writers and researchers.  You're probably the best
judge of whether or not you are one.

I'm interested in compiling a mailing list of those of us who make use
of the uucp network facilities (mail, news) and for whom the Unix system
is a primary computing environment.  The object would be exchange of
information about projects and problems specific to our disciplines.  If
you'll send me your name, institution, and position, I'll compile a list
and mail copies to all contributors in a couple of weeks.  If it proves
to be useful we might try again in the fall.
