In re: Mike Blackwell's (MKB@CMU-CS-S.ARPA) request for dual UARTs,
I don't know of any absolutely plain vanilla dual UARTs in 40-pin
packages, but ZILOG puts out a chip called a DART, for use with the
Z80, that does the required function.  The DART is really just a
screen-failed Z80-SIO that wouldn't run synchronous, and it IS a
relatively cheap chip.
