I'm about 3/4 the way through and am finding it FASCINATING, although very heavy subject matter, and somewhat depressing. The story centers around War Day, a nucleur exchange that takes place on a day in 1988. A few sites in both the US and USSR are eliminated, plus an overhead bomb is exploded which wipes out all computers, telephones, etc. The book is about two writers who go on a cross-country journey 5 years later to cronicle like in the US. Unlike things like War Games and The Day After, this book seems very possible, probable, and realistic. I have yet to find any technical mistakes, or any false assumptions about human nature in the face of such a tragedy. If anyone else has read it, I'd like to talk to you about it.
