| David *had* to die to atone for his sin againgst Science.
| STTMP-3 merely upholds the tradition of the wayward
| scientest doing himself in rather than face the music.

Bushwah!! What "sin against Science"???

David died because they felt it was necessary to underscore how brutal
the Klingons are, and to provide for Kirk to have motive to kill Krega.

David was NOT a "wayward scientist" by any stretch of the imagination,
and he had already shown a stable use of the Genesis system. He was unable
to properly adjust the "protomatter" before it was detonated. However,
that DID allow Spock to be regenerated.

There was no music to face, either. The noise about Genesis being a failure
was an attempt by an idealistic person to convince a warmonger that the
weapon was a failure because it merely DESTROYED, and that was a mistake.
