Says who?  There is pain and joy in every relationship - gay or straight.
What's more, a lot of the pain that gays feel probably has more to do
with the huge weight that they carry around as a result of knowing
that many people will flat out reject them as normal human beings just
because they're gay.  There's much "joy, interest, and wonder" in any
good relationship.  I think you are desperately trying to make what society
says is right to be right for you and for everyone.  Things are just not as
black and white as we might want them to be.
