I've heard nothing about their modem that plugs into the PC,
but the standalone unit isn't ready to ship. They told me "Real
Soon Now" when I called about it a few weeks ago. If they ever
finish building the thing it might be a great modem at a great
price, but as far as I could tell they aren't going to ship one
for at least two more months.

You might want to look at the Prometheus ProModem. The ads make
it look very interesting and I think the price is under $350.
(of course the ProModem might be vaporware as well, I haven't
called them to see if they are for real)
