An old colleague working for a large software consulting firm in New
York City has reported seeing a new IBM PC operating system written by IBM on
beta test. This new operating system claims compatibility with MS-DOS but was
written completely independently of Microsoft. It read PC disks but did not
seem to be able to run any of the compilers he had. He believes that IBM plans
to distribute the operating system free with IBM PC's thus killing PC DOS.
Anyone else out in net-land know about this ?
