There is pain and joy in every relationship - gay or straight. What's more, a lot of the pain that gays feel probably has more to do with the huge weight that they carry around as a result of knowing that many people will flat out reject them as normal human beings just because they're gay. There's much "joy, interest, and wonder" in any good relationship. I think you are desperately trying to make what society says is right to be right for you and for everyone.
