You have a legal right to do this, and unless the card issuer can prove that you were responsible for those purchases, they cannot collect on them or affect your credit standing. However, you MUST pay the parts of the bill which were not disputed promptly, and notify the card issuer in writing of your reasons for withholding payment. As to your other problems, the business which took the illegal orders should have a record of the address to which the mdse was sent. They always do this for their mailing lists. I suggest you contact them, explain the problem ( they've already got their money, and so have nothing to lose ), and see if you can't get the name and address of the person who "used" your card. From there, you can flame in the right direction. -- Bob Fishell ihnp4!ihu1g!fish
