     Actually "The Purple Cow" is by Gellett Burgess, and accurately goes:
I never saw a purple cow
I never hope to see one
But I can tell you anyhow
I'd rather see than be one.
    
     Also, there's another one by him that goes:

Ah, Yes, I wrote "The Purple Cow"
I'm sorry now I wrote it
But I can tell you anyhow
I'll kill you if you quote it.

     Also, the quote about "Candy is dandy ... " is not from Nash,
but I'm not sure who it's from.

     One from Nash however goes:

The one L lama, he's a priest
The two L llama, he's a beast
And I will bet my silk pyjama
There isn't any three L lllama.

     To which a fire chief replied that occasionally his
department is required to respond to something called 
"a three l lllama".
