I am making a list of scientific "facts" perpetrated by mothers and
grandmothers.  We've all been hit by hundreds of them as kids.  Those
medical or scientific "facts" that make sense to a kid, but years later
you kick yourself for believeing them.  Examples include:

"Don't make funny faces or you face will freeze like that..."

"Turn off the air conditioner during electrical storms, it attracts
 lightening"

"Walking barefoot in the house attracts bugs"
