I've said this before and I'll say it again

net.general has already been renamed.  It's now called net.announce.
net.general is still there because net.announce is considered
experimental.  However, except for a bug in 2.10 news which is
fixed in most machines, it works pretty well.

I think most people have already unsubscribed from net.general.
If you have something to say and really believe it's important
enough for almost everybody to read it, use net.announce.
