The general feeling in the industry is that few plot lines will stay
secret for longer than about 15 minutes after the initial screening
of a film, if THAT long. Early viewers of films (including those
at private screenings) often leak so many plot details as to make
any attempt at real "secrecy" a waste of time. This being the case,
publicity agencies feel free to use various details to try enhance
the dramatic aspects of the trailers and attract more people to
the EARLY runs of the film -- where high attendance is considered
crucial to a film's long-term success.
