"What does the D in D-Day stand for," I asked naievely. Well, so far,
I have received 5 answers -- all different. I've heard Day, Decision,
Debarking and Dooms.

But, Dean Stanton at Fortune in Redwood replied that he was first
annoyed that I would ask someting so obvious. After all, he'd known
since childhood that the D stands for Designated. He went on to
site the dictionary and page. (He says the dictionary also includes
[D (for day) + Day; cf. H-HOUR].

Thank you one and all.
