The MOS nerds with whom I associate are always bouncing up and down
over 2 micron gate lengths and etc., while I notice that 1 micron
(and smaller?) head gaps have been present in tape heads for many
years.  My Audio Engineers' Handbook (yawn) refused to have anything
to say on the subject.

I know Ampex is on the net - let's hear it!!  Hmmmm.... Do you make a
cassette deck, Ampex?
