Message-ID: <441@ihu1g.UUCP> Date: Wed, 20-Jun-84 17:01:11 EDT Article-I.D.: ihu1g.441 Posted: Wed Jun 20 17:01:11 1984 Date-Received: Thu, 21-Jun-84 07:54:39 EDT Organization: AT&T Bell Labs, Naperville, IL Lines: 20 (oo) I don't know if there's a newsgroup for house plants, so I thought I'd try this one. I have a large dieffenbachia exotica (name of "Deefy") that's getting too tall to stand up on its own. The plant is healthy enough, growing a new leaf about once every two weeks this time of year, but I've had to truss it up with string and wooden slats to keep it from falling down under its own weight. Does anybody know of a low-risk way to repot this plant so that the stalk will send out new roots further up, say, a foot or so, thereby giving more support to the leaves? Now, Deefy is the closest thing I've got to a pet -- I've had it for about three years now -- and I'd hate to see anything happen to it.
