Since it received some response, I'm reposting in slightly different form.] By "academic humanists" I mean people professionally employed in one of the traditional humanistic disciplines--graduate students and professors of literature, history, philosophy, religion; editors of learned journals; free-lance writers and researchers. You're probably the best judge of whether or not you are one. I'm interested in compiling a mailing list of those of us who make use of the uucp network facilities (mail, news) and for whom the Unix system is a primary computing environment. The object would be exchange of information about projects and problems specific to our disciplines. If you'll send me your name, institution, and position, I'll compile a list and mail copies to all contributors in a couple of weeks. If it proves to be useful we might try again in the fall.
