I went out with a woman like that for about a month and, like Sophie, my motto now is "NEVER AGAIN". Boy was I tired of hearing "I'm so fat" or "I'm so dumb", etc. For a while I tried responding "No, you're not" (In many more words.) Then when that made no difference, I tried "Well why don't you...." All that did was elicit a long list of excuses. Finally my response became, "Yeah, I guess you are, but I like you anyway." She never heard the last half of those sentences; she'd just turn on a big moo cow stare and a plaintive "You *really* think so?" If you're involved with one of these people, don't expect to change him or her; you're wasting your time. Dan Everhart John Fluke Mfg.
