Lauren mentioning local TV station screw ups and KABC-TV
in Los Angeles in particular reminded me of a screw up that
occurred some years ago on that station.
Elton Rule, who is now the head of ABC, was the station
manager at KABC-TV. He taped a station editorial for the
nightly news and blew his lines about half way through.
He shouted some profanities (several of the 7 forfidden
words) and they retaped the editorial. The only problem
was that they didn't erase the first taping and when the
tape was queued up they started from the first try.
Needless to say heads rolled. This is one you will never
see on one of those blooper shows.
