At present the Stanford group is experiencing about a 2% failure rate in the 600 or so MACS distributed since April. This is a very high charge by APPLE in my opinion. One must pay this cost even if one component on the board fails. This makes the extended warranty sound like a bargain. Is it likely that alternate repair sources will appear? Comments? -------
