The dialing/on-hook relay, which is what's used for pulse dialing,
definitely has a finite life.  On the other hand, the folks who
designed the modem knew that said relay was going to be used for
dialing, so it's likely to be a long-life model.  I wouldn't worry
too much, Dave; the main autodialer at utzoo, which is also an
R-V modem and probably uses the same relay, makes maybe a dozen calls
an hour, 24 hours a day 365 days a year.  It's been operational for
two years now and is showing no signs of trouble.

If you're still concerned, tone dialing definitely would be easier
on the modem, since that's essentially an all-solid-state operation.
