George Carlin's "Ice Box Man", in a way, has a butt of the joke.
His humour, I think, is pointing out all the weird things that
happen to us that we don't think about.  But, in a way, we are
the butt of the joke.  How many times have you listened to one of
his routines and said "Yeah, I've done that!"

You are laughing at yourself.  However, since the subject matter is
not really that painful, it's not bad.  His schtick on the elevator
is a good example.  "There's nothing to do on an elevator except
not look at the other guy."  Lots of people feel very uncomfortable
on elevators.  You're laughing at yourself because you, too, feel
uncomfortable.

In other words, I think the butt still exists.
