After having his mind restored and beginning to remember what had happened, he said them to Kirk again to see if his new incarnation was correctly remembering data. So rather than it being a repetition of things he said after his "core dump", he was postulating a situation and observing the responses to acquire more data to help himself recover. Nobody uses core anymore. They probably don't in Starfleet either. :->
