2) In ST2, Kirk mentioned that the Prefix code would only work if Khan
were unaware of it.  Obviously, an aware crew can change it, and this
is undoubtedly one of the first things Kirk & Co did.  As well, it is
only known (for obvious security reasons) to Admiral-level officers,
and no one had time to get one to a starship (the Excelsior) in time
to stop the Enterprise.  Even more, no one on the Excelsior would even
think of getting an Admiral to stop the Enterprise, because they don't
even know the codes exist!  To have put in a line where Scotty says
"By the by, Captain, I'm disabling our override code." would have been
an enormous insult to the intelligence of all Trek fans and sapient life
forms everywhere. :-)

Which is not to say it wasn't a good question to ask.
