I believe the question should have been, "Why do BEAUTIFUL women date jerks?"
That is not the same as being insecure. Beautiful does not imply intelligent,
sensible, sociable, caring, or secure. It doesn't rule out any of those
either. Maybe the jerks are only jerks in public. Maybe they are articulate
and caring in private. Maybe they are good in bed. :-) Since I'm not "endowed
with stunning physical attributes", maybe my explanations for why I've dated
"jerks" will not enlighten you, but ...

I've dated a variety of guys, not all "jerks" but some were. I wanted to find
which type of person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Some of them
have been rather outspoken. Some of them have been quiet. Almost all of them
wanted to work, so I guess I haven't dated the lazy types though I have met a
number of guys who would have been happy to stay home with the kids while I
worked to pay the rent. I've dated guys with loads of social skills and some
who needed to go back to kindergarten in that area. But I could talk to them
all, and we had fun together. That's all that mattered. Now I think I know
what type of person (and probably which person) I really like to be with.

One other point. There's a lot less competition for the "jerks." Looks aren't
everything, and it's a lot easier to date someone when you don't have to work
around their schedules with four other people.

I my answer is, "Maybe they don't seem like jerks to the women."
