OK, here's what happened. Spock suspended his processes, and dumped their
state into McCoy. Spock then RESUMEs, and later says "Ship out of danger?".
One could say that it was inevitable that he was going to say that, and
if the processes are resumed from the same state, a second time, the same
thing will happen (although I admit the stimuli are different; he did not
have to go and fix the stones in the can at the end of ST III as he did
in ST II).
