Worzel Gummidge is indeed a scarecrow.  He was featured in a series
of children's books in the early to mid-sixties (if memory serves).
When I first read them, as a child, I enjoyed them very much.
Later on I couldn't see why I ever enjoyed them..

I haven't seen any of the TV shows with Jon Pertwee.

Now, if you really want to get into Pertwee trivia, does anyone
remember the Navy Lark, a series of half-hour radio comedies
that Pertwee starred in for years.
