U.C. San Diego Lines: 5 Yes, I have been in a maze "room" that was a treasure room. There is one interesting difference, though. The monsters don't seem to be wakened by the player "entering" the room. This makes me believe that the maze "room" has at least one property that passages have other than the obvious one of appearance.
