I doubt it. His natural position is 2b, and he was converted to third. I really doubt he has the range/quickness to make a reasonable ss, though I was surprised how well he did at 3rd; he is reasonable in the field. He is a good bat-control-type hitter. He didn't really blossom until he was in the majors a couple of years. I'm sure he is upset about the trade; he's a hometown boy (Troy, Illinois, about 20 mi from St. Louis). How do you Cub fans feel about the Eck/Buckner trade? We like it in Boston; it may be a trade which really does help both teams.
