Message-ID: <235@homxa.UUCP> Date: Wed, 6-Jun-84 09:00:14 EDT Article-I.D.: homxa.235 Posted: Wed Jun 6 09:00:14 1984 Date-Received: Thu, 7-Jun-84 07:45:05 EDT Organization: AT&T Bell Labs, Holmdel NJ Lines: 16 When I was getting acquainted with the first man I slept with, my friend Mary was getting acquainted with the first woman she slept with. Talking over our feelings about these SO's, we found we had almost identical feelings--that this was a uniquely special individual... I thought at the time that it was mostly a matter of chance that the person I was in love with was male and that the important thing is the sense of specialness between you. On the other hand, I've since learned (by observation of others) that there are some romantic complications that you simply don't get in a heterosexual society that you run into with gay and bisexual couples: (1) What do you do when you are breaking up with your SO and you are both interested in the same replacement? (2) In general, when you allow every pair of people to mate, you get a lot more possible couples => more possibilities for really messed up relationships, hurt feelings, competition, etc. etc....
