Looking mostly at the last two sentences (ignoring belief in God in particular) - no, sorry, many people ARE that stupid. There are ongoing discussions in net.auto, net.audio, net.misc (several), net.abortion, and others in which people are "reasoning" not only without a shred of evidence but without benefit of even the rudiments of logic. If you don't want to look at just the net, look at the general interest in the non-phenomena of astrology, UFO's, ESP, telekinesis, out-of-body experiences. I won't even go into what can be found in politics. It's observable - and verifiable, if you have the time and lack the scruples - that T.C. Mits will not only accept, but BUY (often at great cost) any piece of nonsense if it can be chromed, packaged, and hyped appropriately. I would that it were not so, but I fear that it is. -- {hao, ucbvax, allegra}!nbires!rcd
