Our family have always used a Tatung rice cooker.  The one we still
use is about 35 years old and still going strong.  The only thing that
needed replacement was the bowl inside that held the rice.  The sales
people will try to sway you away from them because they don't have a
warranty.  Big deal...  Tatung's are also much cheaper than the
Japanese brands.
