I read about Air Force Captain Marvel in the LA Times. He
celebrated his promotion to Captain, at the time, by renting
the appropriate costume. He was quoted as saying (something
like) he always knew that he was destined to attain the rank
of Captain. Right.

I once heard someone on television claim that his name was
St. Peter. Harmless enough, except that he was a guard
at an Air Force base, and had occasion to answer the phone
with "Main gate, St. Peter speaking." Suitable reactions
are left as an exercise for the reader.
