If you buy the Euro model and have it retrofitted with the catalyst before shipment back you can save a few bucks. A local dealer informs me he will probably receive shipment on his first ones in October. The price:<$20000. The engine is the 2.0L 9.25:1 compression ratio w/16 valve head and (of course) turbocharger and intercooler. The Euro version being sold now produces 180hp @5200 rpm. The American version will probably be in the neighborhood of 165hp. I like clean air even at the expense of 15hp. Top speed will be >135mph though the real advantage of the fancy new head and intercooler is the super highway acceleration and passing potential the extra 35 horses will provide. On the practical side this will also allow for pulling trailer loads with a bit more margin for error. I am told that along with the more powerful engine heavier brakes and slightly different gearing will be standard. The preliminary photos show some new sheet metal as well. If you are *really* patient wait until '86 when rumor has it the Turbo-16 will be available as a convertable! - Gary Wasserman harpo!inmet!grw | hplabs!sri-unix!cca!ima!inmet!grw | yale-comix!ima!inmet!grw
