As far as I know Katz' "Kosher" Supermarket never had supervision. 
As a matter of fact - several years ago there was a strike of the
meat packers in NJ and other areas that supply meat in DC.  The
other butchers had little or no meat - somehow Katz had no trouble
getting meat - a bit suspicious isn't it.  This is just for the
information of those visiting Washington who are interested in
eating Kosher meat.
