Being from the Western part of the U.S. (Colorado, to be more specific), I have
always used the term "pop" to mean those carbonated drinks like Coke, Pepsi,
7UP, etc.  When I met someone from the East (Virginia), he asked if I would
like a "soda". I was rather disappointed to find it was a "pop" instead of
a real SODA with Ice Cream and the works!
