Here at the University of Illinois Urbana campus we've got a
problem with flames--high temp. ones, not verbal. Some pyro set a fire
in the Physics building that caused $250,00 damage to the building and
an undetermined amount of damage to equipment. Now, about a week later,
something strange is going on in our building (two buildings down
from Physics). It turns out that the pyro started the fire
by igniting the papers dangling from the hallway bulletin boards so
the secretaries are stripping our cluttered BBoards. The hallways look
naked.

I guess that is the obvious approach, but what can you do to
secure a University? Doors are locked at night, but that never stopped
anyone from waiting for someone with a key to let them in. Not only are
fires a problem, but every week about $2000 worth of equipment is stolen.

So what to do? Flame at the problems that have no solution.
