Sorry folks, but you can not make blanket statements that: "power steering
makes the car like mush" and "power steering only belongs on trucks and
caddies" !!!   I will grant that *some* (maybe even *most*) manufacturers
over do it on the assist, and lose a lot of the feedback.  They *are* learning
tho!  Test drive a Pontiac 6000 STE to see the joy of power steering done
right!

GENERALLY speaking the need for power assisted steering is related to the car's
weight.  Most of the econo-boxes (chevettes, hondas, etc) have little need for
power steering tho.  The best bet is to try the car with and without power
steering.
