I don't like to be the first male on the dance floor (sigh) because I do
not consider myself a good dancer.  (I'm also somewhat shy and reluctant
to ask someone to dance because THEY might not want to, and I don't want
to be rejected so early in the evening.)  However, it's not a bad idea
to be one of the first males on the dance floor because (I've found) on
the average you get girls who like to dance a lot and can more easily
make conversation with.
