Line eating monster - take this.

I used to have broading experiences, however I gave them up when I
got married. -:) Seriously, you should make an attempt at learning
English first. When I was in Germany (2 years), I learned German and
conversed in that language. I no longer have use for German, so I
don't use it. Does that qualify me as a slob? Europeans do not learn
other languages for "cultural" reasons, they learn for economic reasons.

If the residents of New York and New Jersey spoke different languages,
many of them would learn the others language just to be able to carry
on their daily commerce. You have to realize that the size and
compactness of Europe dictate that people be able to converse with
one another in different languages. That is not the case in this
country. (Although learning Jersey Cityese is helpful.)

Casting aspersions on those who are not brilliant conversationalists
in other languages is just plain assinine. If I had the need to
learn another language, I suppose I would. However, since I don't
think that I will ever get the chance to travel and use Bantu, Parsi,
or Uhruh, I will forego the time and effort and devote my energies
to learning C. I will not, however, look down on anyone else who
doesn't understand C, it's just not one of the more important
aspects of my life right now.

So, all I was saying several weeks ago was that if you want to post
to the net in any other language, go right ahead. But, please be
kind enough to translate. Not everyone knows the language that
you know, and I doubt that you know all the languages that the
others on the net know. Courtesy asks that translations be given.
