A few of the writers hailed from Buffalo, NY. They often choose street names that they new from this fair city. Such as Hertal, Elmwood, Ferry, etc. (There is also a Hill St. but it is an obscure side street, so it is doubtful that it is the origin of the title). These writers (one of whom is Milch, one of the original writers) have stated that the do indeed use names that they remember from Buffalo streets, so please no flames that the street names are too general, and all major cities have them, for it is an uncanny felling when every time the mention a street name on the show, you know that street.
