A coincidence: I too owned a battery-eating Opel and lost a Sears
DieHard battery after 3.5 years. However, due to (1) the price
increases on batteries over that time, and (2) a very good sale on
their 48-month battery, the pro-rated refund on the DieHard came
within $3 of paying for the 4 year battery. Clearly this scheme, if
repeated, will lead to the purchase of cheaper and cheaper batteries
on sale at more and more frequent intervals. I sold the Opel instead.
