San Diego Lines: 25 Here goes mine: '79 VW Dasher Diesel Station Wagon. Last tank--34; highest that I remember offhand--42. My driving consists of daily commutes (4 miles 1-way) of city and suburban driving (MPH<~45) with occasional longer trips. I usually get around 35-37. Note that this is CITY driving. My mileage is probably better because I live in sunny San Diego (65 degrees? Brrrrrrr! I'd better put on a ski jacket!). The transmission is 4-speed manual. In return for good mileage, I lose power and acceleration and top-speed. (You really feel it when you have four passengers (+me) and the back filled with luggage and you're climing a hill!) I would say that the car is utilitarian to da max. I does, however, handle well enough to keep me happy (i.e. I can burn people on stretches of windy road. I can't burn the high-performance cars, obviously, unless they're really poorly driven (which occurs with suprising frequency. It's amazing how many people go out and buy a super-expensive, high-performance driving machine when they can't drive worth sh*t.)) This is getting too long. --Alan J. Hu sdcsvax!hu P.S. Please pardon all the typos and spelling and grammar errors. I just got out of a three hour math final and I am totaly WASTED.
