Notice what happened when Supes stepped into the super-power zapper ---
the control console went up in flames (so to speak). It's my guess that the
reason Lara said that the process was irreversible was that the absorption of
all that super-energy would destroy the machine. What she didn't count on was
that Lois would pick up that funny green crystal and put it down elsewhere.
Since that crystal (which was used to create the Fortress in the first place)
wasn't destroyed, Supes could use it to build a new machine that would restore
his powers. Note that when Supes got back to the Fortress, one of the first
things he found was the green crystal, intact. Of course, the question that re-
mains is where the new machine got the super-energy to put back into Supes.
