Do you mean read a sector or group of sectors from disk direct to screen memory. If so this casn be done fairly easily directly in machine code and called from basic or other languages as a USR or equivalent function. I can recommend the series of books on the TRS80 published by IJG with titles like Microsoft Basic decoded and other Mysteries. The one that would be most helpful to you is called something like TRS80 Disk Machine Language and Other Mysteries. It contains complete info for the Model I and III on reading and writing disks using machine code. Alternatively all you need is a DOS call to read a specific file. If you read your TRS80 DOS manual you will find it's all documented. !~r regards Mike Gingell, ....decvax!mcnc!ecsvax!mjg
