Yes, it was adapted from Peter Beagle's book. It was passable. Japanese animation, reasonable characterization, music by America. Except for the fact that the Red Bull looked more like a big red pig with horns, it was pretty good. I'd say, see it if you get the chance. The book is also a favorite of mine, and I wasn't too disappointed. Please remember, however, that it is a kid's movie, so don't expect too much (especially from Shmendrick).
