We are running a new (interim) version of the shell (sh(1)). This is just
a brief step toward running the System 5 shell. The version we are now running
has a built-in echo(1) and test(1), but the main purpose for its installation
was to incorporate a change to the "set" built-in. Set will now recognize
"--" as a marker for the end of the shell options. We can now make changes to
programs that use set in ways that would be incompatible with the System 5
shell.
