Au,
	Buy a radar detector.  I've haven't gotten a ticket since 
I purchased mine.  (and that was over three years ago)  It's well 
worth the money.  You can "see" the cops well before they "see"
you.  The only thing you have to worry about is a cop with a
triggered radar instead of a continuous one.  In most states the law 
requires the police to have their parking lights on when parked at the
side of the road.  So, in addition to the radar detector, look out for
those parking lights.  Works like a charm.
