A conversion factor which has so far been ignored:

10**8 microprograms = the National COP 400 series (hektoprogram)

About two years ago, I found myself calling a salesman at the local
National distributor (H-A) to ask why my order for some half-dozen
or so COP 402s was two weeks overdue. I got the usual stories
(you know, the ``Oh, the computer at the LA office has been down
for the past three years, and...'' kind of stuff). ``Hmm,'' I mused,
``I'll bet I can guess the origin of the name COP. When you need
them, you can't find them, right?''

The silence was deafening.
