In response to Pat's question about alternatives to a band for a
wedding reception, try looking into a solo musician. One friend
of mine had a guitarist play at her wedding. It wasn't great for
dancing, but it added a very romantic feel to the whole thing and
most of the people there seemed to enjoy it. Another possibility
is a pianist. A good one can do dance music along with ballads
and pleasant background music.

You can usually hire a solo musician for between $20 and $50 an hour.

Best of luck to you, Pat!
