I saw THE LAST UNICORN, also because Peter Beagle's book is one of
my favourites. I was sorely disappointed by the film. Much of the
humour of the book is missing, e.g., the outlaws in the forest are
played straight, not as a commentary on the Robin Hood legend. It
was done by the same people who did that travesty of THE HOBBIT, and
is up to the same level.
