I've also received good service from John Charles Pinot (J.C. Penny, stateside)
batteries; purchased one for $49 in 1978 with a lifetime warranty, drove about
75,000 and had them give me a new one (battery dead), now have driven another
75,000 miles without need of further replacement. The car is still going strongso they will be seeing me again.

An interesting fact is that these first batteries had the warranty written on
the battery, so anyone brandishing said battery will get a replacement *with-
out* a receipt. (That's why the new ones do not have the warranty on the
battery - they issue a lifetime warranty card now). Certainly, I am not
suggesting dishonesty, just be aware that these old batteries are worth about
a hundred bucks (current price of new lifetime battery).
