The question is:

What crime is punishable if you only attempt it,
but not if you commit it successfully?

This is in fact an old question, but the answer originally given does not apply
in some jurisdictions, because it is not a crime everywhere. In fact, I expect
that it is now a crime in fewer places than was once the case.

But I have come up with a second answer, unrelated to the first one, that also
answers the question and is a crime everywhere (as far as I know). So can you
think of both answers?

I'll post the answers tomorrow, rot13'd in case net delays bring the messages
together (or you want to think longer).
