The number preceeding it is how many times the die is rolled (or the number rolled on the dice multiplied x number of times). Monsters with multiple attacks will have two or three sets of dice rolls and will be in the notation xdn/xdn/xdn where x=the number of times the dice is rolled and n=the # of die faces. Each time you fight a multiple hit monster, each roll is taken into account and added up, therefore seems to be only one hit. Best of Luck......rbc
