Obviously, these scholarships are offered in the hope that students will
become more observant.  But Ohr Someach and Neve Yerushalayim both prefer
university graduates with a proven record of intellectual excellence. 
They prefer people who can learn the intricacies and the techniques of
Jewish scholarship rapidly.  People with psychological, personality or
adjustment problems can find other organizations that will teach them
Jewish observance at a less intellectual level.  Ohr Someach and Neve
Yerushalayim seek exactly those people who would react most violently
against pressure and who would be most difficult to "brainwash."

While these educational institutions are not political per se, they are
pro-Israel and receive support from the government of the State of Israel.
