I don't have any recommendations but I don't want to make a correction
to something I think somebody said about the Toyota Mini-van a few months
ago.  They said that engine work has to be done from underneath the van.  I
found this surprising so last time I was at a Toyota dealer I checked.

The front seat lifts up (three clasps hold it down normally) exposing the
engine and other things.  I didn't try to see how easy it would be to work
on; it looks a little cramped compared to my Toyota Tercel engine
compartment.
