The "1 hen, 2 ducks, 3 squawking geese, . . ." thing was not 
just a memory test, but was widely used as an enunciation test 
for radio announcers, at least at some college radio stations. 
I remember that I had to (try to) repeat it half a dozen times
without faltering within some absurd time limit.  Few passed.  
Done quickly, it's worse than "rubber baby buggy bumpers" and so 
forth.
