Actually, it is true that much of so-called Christianity is chromed, packaged, hyped, at least partially nonsense, and sometimes at least attempts to cost money. True Christianity is demonstrated through acts of love to other people. Alas, it is not easy for me to demonstrate much love to net people, since all I can do is transmit my words (and since I am not myself any kind of superior Christian, but rather have a great distance to go before I am anywhere near as loving as Christ). Still, it is that love, acceptance, and helpfulness that draws people who can admit that they need and want it, no matter how self-sufficient they pretend (even to themselves) that they are. Much so-called Christianity today seems more calculated to draw those who are looking for some way to gain power for themselves, rather than imitate Christ, who made Himself like a slave. -- -- Jeff Sargent {allegra|ihnp4|decvax|harpo|seismo|ucbvax}!pur-ee!pucc-h:aeq Have you hugged your junk mail today?
