Volleyball was invented in a Holyoke, Mass. YMCA in 1895.  Its
inventor was William George Morgan.  The game was first called
"mintonette" and was played by hitting a basketball over a rope.

A rainbow can be seen only in the morning or late afternoon.
It is a phenomenon that can occur only when the sun is 40
degrees of less above the horizon.

The term "cocktail" was invented in Elmsford, NY.  A barmaid
named Betsy Flanagan decorated her establishment with the tail
feathers of cocks.  One day a patron asked for "one of those
cocktails".  She served him a drink with a feather in it.

Both George Washington and Thomas Jefferson grew Canabis sativa
(marijuana) on their plantations.
