The reason that Rod Serling was "unavailable" to do the intros to the
episodes of "Twilight Zone: The Movie" was that he has been dead for
eight years and two days.

The only completely original material in the movie was the opening
teaser with Dan Ackroyd and the first vignette (the one with Vic Morrow
as the bigot).  The second one was based on the episode "Kick the Can,"
the third one was based upon "It's a @i(Good) Life," and the fourth
one was a remake of "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet".
