Just a few minutes ago I heard a new song by ASIA on the
radio (WKLS, Atlanta). I believe it is entitled
"Just Look Around You." The single is supposed to be
released Monday, July 18 and the album (I missed the name, sorry)
will be released Monday, August 8.

I'm not sure I would have identified the group as ASIA just by
sound alone. The songs on the first album seemed to be "noisy"
with all of the overdubbing and harmony and electronics and....
(I liked the album, but...) This song that will be released
Monday, however, sounded quite a bit quieter in tone, although
still coming across with a lot of energy. What came to mind
was that it sounded like Barry Manilow had helped do the song.
I'm reserving judgement until I hear it again. It's a catchy
tune, but I'm not sure if I like it.

If anybody happens to hear anything else from the album, I'd be
interested in your impressions.

By the way, I have heard a CD version of the first album and it
sounds much better than the analog version. The background wasn't
quite so overwhelming and there appeared to be some rather subtle
things done with harmony that I didn't notice before. Again,
I'd be interested in impressions from anyone else out there.
