How about 'goes in to' (pronounced "gusinta") as a pronouncable version
of shells '>' symbol.

As for "!", "bang" is the only reasonable choice, not only because its
becoming common in UN*X land, but because (apparantly) its read that way
in both (hot lead type) typesetting and in SDS/XDS/Xerox/Honeywell/(fill
in the blank) operating systems land (anyone out there remember RBM
and CP/V?).

(All of the above 'acronyms'(?) are probably owned by someone; I just
don't know who...)
