Article in The Detroit News:
Barber who built Glassair in his barber shop had
the engine stall 20 ft off the ground on its first
flight. Fortunately, he was not hurt, but the
plane's prop and landing gear were bent plus
the wing will need extensive repairs. A close
shave! Perhaps he didn't clean out the shavings
from the fuel intake? The Glassair seems to
be a good airplane, but its speed (220 mph cruise)
makes it a bit difficult to handle.
