Whoever it was that mentioned it, I think you're right that
the driving laws in MA, at least in Boston, are different.
This is a good case of the actual laws, the ones observed by
the populace && the ones enforced by the police, being 
substantially different than what is recorded on some obscure
documents that the legislature hasn't gotten around to updating.

On the basis of considerable observation, I have noted that even
the meaning of traffic light colors deviate from what outsiders
might surmise.  So, I would like to start this off with a couple
of the "Real Laws for Boston Drivers":

	(1)  A yellow light means := if you're less than half a
	block from the intersection, accelerate.

	(2)  A red light means := only 5 more cars may go through
	the intersection.

	(3)  If the car in front of you is speeding, tailgate him.

	(4)  The lines that are sometimes painted on the road are
	to align the center of your car.

	(5)  During rush hour, rush at all possible opportunities.
