As we all know, whoever dies with the most toys wins. One of the ways of scoring is through/with people. Anyway, it's a little difficult to get what you want without dealing with people at all. So... when I first meet someone I classify them using all those time honored cliches like age, sex, appearance, etc. Alan has a valid point, though: there's no reason to lock yourself into a particular opinion. People *are* individuals, but they are also members of certain large groups that have certain characteristics. These groups are divided up by distinguishing marks: age, dress, sex, etc. As a rather absurd story to illustrate my point, if you all have ever gone to a *punk* club, think back... when you looked at the dance floor, you had an evaluation to make, based on appearance. I didn't make it quickly enough and I found myself involved in some sort of group dance called (baroquely enough) The Slam. Well, my body was baroquely enough too, and I learned to evaluate a certain manner of dress at speed. To carry this topic further, life is short. If I see someone passed out on a park bench wrapped in a bottle wrapped in a brown paper bag I do not stop to talk. While my life *might* be enriched through a cultural exchange, the chances are so minimal that I'm willing to risk missing it. Life is (to this ex-stat man) a bit of three card Monte game. You bet on the card you think is the queen. You bet on people the same way. He said he was game and so she shot him, Keith ...![ allegra, seismo, mcnc, we13 ]!rlgvax!keith p.s. HEY BORMAN!!! What's the matter with being a Psyc major? Sounds like a personal problem to me... p.p.s. HEY ZIGGO!!! How'd the date work out?
