I have a cousin, who when she was a baby was bestowed the nickname
"Dumpy", for obvious reasons - then! Well, Dumpy is now 18 years
old and the whole family still calls her by her nickname. This has
been very frustrating for her because she is quite attractive now
and would love to bury this hideous pet name. But, alas, to the
grandparents she is and will always remain their little "Dumpy"
and they refuse to call her by her given name - Donna. I've tried
hard to remember to call her Donna, but pet names often times, are
hard to live down. So, be careful when dishing out pet names,
because someone else has to live with that endearing term.

I also have a roommate named "Twink", but
that's another story...
