Judging from the title, someone wanted a non-sexist
name to call their unborn child. Having one myself (seven
weeks to	go and counting), I will give you my solution. I
call my baby "Generic". This implies no name - no sex.
It's also cute and trendy and fits my lifestyle. (One of my
favorite pastimes is finding	new generic products in	the
       grocery store.)

As to what we are actually going to	call our baby, my
husband and I haven't agreed on a name yet. We haven't even
agreed on when we should	talk about it.	We both have dif-
ferent ideas/traditions for names and this is causing some
conflict. Relatives and	friends	nervous	because	it is tak-
ing so long to decide on a name. I am threatening to actu-
ally name our child Generic and nickname	it Genie if it is a
girl and Eric	or Ric if it is	a boy.	Needless to say, my
husband is appalled at the idea but people have turned
unusual	names into an asset and	the nicknames are very nor-
       mal sounding.
