On number one: Several manufacturers (Koni and KYG for two) supply gas
filled cartridges for McPherson struts. This will definitly give you a
better ride for your money. But suspension/handling is more than just
struts/shocks. Also consider front/rear sway bars, better tires, lighter
rims, etc. I believe that Dodge is now supplying racing quality after-market
supplies through their dealerships.

2: If you don't already have one (and you're doing a lot of hill-type
driving), get yourself a tach. You would be surprised that what sounds
like you are racing your engine to death is well below the red line. On
my Honda Civic 1500GL, the red line is 6000rpm. I have often felt I was
over-racing my engine only to look down and see that I was only turning
4000-4500 rpm.
