This is the current map of Usenet, incorporating all changes received
by the date given. Please send corrections (and all changes to the
configuration of Usenet) to "cbosgd!map". A blank entry means that
the information for that site is unknown - if you see a blank entry
you know the answer to, please let us know. Anything you would like
to add to make information more specific is welcome - for example,
if a site is just listed as "Bell Telephone Laboratories", we would
prefer to list them as "Bell Labs, Columbus Operating System Group".
We simply don't have the information to fill in for most sites.

The European portion of this directory is maintained in Europe -
we merely include information sent to us in this distribution.
Send corrections for Great Britain to ukc!mjb; send corrections
for the continent to mcvax!piet.

The eur.gb.pss portion is still being experimentally included.
The general feeling seems to be that this information belongs in
a mail database, not a news database, but until someone starts
maintaining a solid mail routing database (any volunteers?) this
is the only available medium for distribution of this information.

Usenet is defined as all sites receiving newsgroup net.general. A
Usenet link between two sites is one that net.general is sent over.
Note that this is different from a UUCP link, over which mail and
file transfers may occur but not necessarily news. (We count the
links to Europe even through they don't get net.general - we're
eventually going to change the definition, to net.announce, once
net.announce begins working.)

The format of the map lists several mail-style header lines for each
site. The lines are
Name: the official site name, with optional nicknames
Organization: the name of the company, university, or group
Contact: the name of the Usenet contact person for the site
Phone: the telephone number of the contact person
Postal-Address: the paper mailing address of the contact person
	Electronic-Address: for the contact person
News: neighbors this site sends net.general to
Mail: sites for which there is a UUCP link or other ! syntax link.
Continuation lines begin with a blank or tab. A blank line separates
each site entry. The Mail line in most cases is blank, allowing
for future expansion. We are not currently collecting Mail data,
so please do not send us Mail additions. Send Mail information
to cbosgd!uucpmap, which is handled by different people.

The map is organized geographically, dividing the world into several regions:
