We installed 2.9 with HT_IOCTL defined and could not use any device except the raw 1600 bpi one. All others caused the system to crash. After mucking about with the driver for several days, in desperation, we removed the definition of HT_IOCTL. This cured our problem but left me wondering; what caused the problem in the first place? The non-functioning of the 800 bpi device is especially mysterious, all that that does is toggle a bit on the tu2 controller. For other reasons, it would be nice to have IOCTL on the tape drive. Has anyone surmounted this problem? keith packard reed college ...tektronix!reed!keith
