Don't credit the 1802 with being a nice machine just because it
has been used in satellites.  The space computer market is highly
specialized, and in particular they are willing to put up with
the most amazing atrocities in the architecture if the chips are
radiation-resistant.  The 1802 was used for its radiation-hardened
CMOS-on-sapphire fabrication technology, not for its (gag) beauty.
