This article is directed at Tim Maroney, but is being sent to
net.flame so that everyone can see what I have to say. (Hmmm, Tim,
better get in the bathtub with the asbestos suit...).

    <<<>>>

OK TIM. HOW COME WE/ HAVE TO PROVE EVERYTHING TO YOU, BUT YOU
DON'T FEEL OBLIDGED TO PROVE A DAMN THING TO US, HUH???? Two quotes
from Tim now follow, these are both from net.flame..

"I'm sorry, Ken, but the burden of
proof always rest on the claimant, REGARDLESS OF THE
        ISSUE." [[ caps mine ]]

    and....

"I repeat: Let's see it! Am I supposed to
take your word for it? That's a pretty feeble basis
        for legislation, or for "proof"."

Ok, fine. Tim has just stated that he wants proof (good, SOLID
proof) for statements and/or generalizations. Well and good, but WHY
DON'T YOU SHOW US SOME PROOF FOR YOUR STATEMENTS, PAL... quote from
unc!tim follows....

     >>>>> I don't have any proof. <<<<< Very few people have any
sort of proof of their opinions about people's
psychology. Complex human behavior does not seem to
        be generally describable by the scientific method;
that is why it should be legislated only to the
absolute minimum extent necessary. B. F. Skinner
would disagree, but I thought that the models he
presented in "Verbal Behavior" were strained to say
the least. [[ angle brackets mine ]]

Ok, Tim, howcome you didn't give proof, REGARDLESS OF THE ISSUE,
(quote yours, caps mine). psychology is a big issue, especially after
the generalization about homosexuality that you made....

Awaiting your reply and your proof,

               Eric Holtman (harpo!whuxlb!eric)
