I recently used a Northrup King seed starting kit, which used wicking
to water the seedlings. This worked out very well, for the wick-watering
did not disturb the seed starting medium. It was also less hassle than
bottom watering.
I would like to make some more seed starting kits, with wick-watering,
but don't particularly want to buy a bunch of Northrup King kits (much
cheaper to buy my own vermiculite and seeds!). Where do I get the wick?
The wick in the kit looks sort of like felt. I tried a strip of an old
cotton T-shirt, but it didn't seem to absorb the water as well.

I made a cloche last nite out of corrugated fiberglass and wire. It
was a very easy project, and much less expensive than the cloches in
the catalogs. I followed the directions in Crockett's Victory Garden.

Please tell me: Where can I get wick? or What can I use for wick?
