Jerry, a friend of mine, feeds his dog on the back patio which is fenced in. Next door lives a woman with ~20 cats, some of which are siamese. The daily scenario is as follows: 1) Jerry feeds dog. 2) Dog eats some, leaves rest for mid-morning snack. 3) Dog retires indoors. 4) Siamese cat wriggles through gap at the gate, and proceeds to eat the food. 5) The dog, blocked by the door, is barking furiously. 6) Jerry opens the door, the dog rushes out, but the cat easily lopes across the yard, springs to the top of the garbage can, and over the fence. Well, Jerry had too much of this one bright day, so he prepared a suprise. 1) Jerry feeds dog. 2) Dog eats some, leaves rest for mid-morning snack. 3) Dog retires indoors. 4) Siamese cat wriggles through gap at the gate, and proceeds to eat the food. 5) The dog, blocked by the door, is barking furiously. 6) Jerry opens the door, the dog rushes out, but the cat easily lopes across the yard, springs to the top of the garbage can, sans lid, ... SANS LID?!!!??? Yep, the cat went down in an almost human yowl of utter defeat. The dog hit the can full tilt, knocking it over, and rushed inside. Yet another yowl, and the cat was out the way it came. If ever I have ever seen a dog smile, it was him that day. And for sure, that cat never darkened that dog food again.
