Also, I do remember something about a Japanese calculator manufacturer being
the driving force behind the 4004; I think it was also a case of an LSI
implementation of an existing MSI/SSI processor.  I can't remember whether
they eventually rejected the chip, or whether there was a Japanese phone
company working with the 8008 who eventually rejected it.
