I own a VW Diesel Jetta, and the manufacturer's recommended oil change
frequency is every 7,500 miles or 6 months. Considering that I used to
change the oil every 2,000 miles in my last car (an early 70's Chrysler
w/Slant-6 engine), this seems awfully long to me. Do diesel's require
less frequent oil changes? Has something wonderful happened to oil in the
last decade? How on earth can an engine with 4 cylinders and much higher
revs than a 6-cyl go that far between oil changes?
