Never  blame UN*X as a whole for the fault of one of its parts.  It's so
flexible  and  modular  that  to  do so is  unfair.  Any  bozo  can  add
something to the system  merely by getting  others to accept and use it.
In fact, UN*X is for that very reason greater than the sum of its parts!

PS:  I agree,  however, that most of the parts look like they were coded
by matchbook-cover  computer school dropouts.  My own pet theory is that
"they" were/are all such geniuses that they couldn't care less about the
quality  of  implementation  of an  idea,  so  long as it  worked.  This
attitude is, of course, extremely shortsighted.  Anyone with an ounce of
sense will never, ever  generate  anOTHER line of C code that looks that
bad.  Right?
