There is a postumous book by John Steinback called "The Acts of King Arthur
and his Knights" that is basicly a transcription of Mallory's ancient
text into the modern idiom. This was apparently one of Steinback's
unfinished pet projects. I recommend it over mallory to all but
those who insist on reading Chaucer in the original too.
