This fine young third baseman is indeed in his second year, having
replaced the traded Carney Lansford. Boggs reportedly had hit for high
average in all of the minor leagues where he played. Two items of
interest from the Boston press: he is an assiduous student of Ted
Williams' book "The Art of Hitting", and he eats only chicken on the
days of games. Seems he had chicken one night in the minors, and went
5-for-5, then 4-for-5 when he tried it again. He wife is claimed
to have over 30 recipes for chicken. Has anyone noticed that he is leading
the league in doubles? This from a hitter who doesn't hit with much power
(only one homerun this year). I think he gets a lot of line drives down
the line for these hits.
