You don't understand why any sane person would want to drive 70mph????..

Look back through previous articles, and you will find at least
one good reason....

As a service engineer I used to travel from Norfolk, Va and
Washington D.C. several times a week. At 70 mph, the 210 mile distance
was 3hrs long. Add 2hrs of work, and another 3hrs back... presented me
with an 8 hour day. A not-intolerable time. Change the speed limit to
55, and the time now is 4hrs (almost)..presenting me with a 10hr day. The
last two hours I was on the road, I was tired...VERY tired.
		..It makes driving DANGEROUS!..

Truckers, tourists and the like have an even larger problem. Their
2100 mile trips become 40hrs long instead of 30hrs. If you limit travel
to 10hrs a day (for obvious safety reasons) the three day trip becomes a
four day trip.

Expressways were originally designed for 70mph, as were automobiles.
I am very much in favor of keeping the 55mph limit, within urban areas where
there are large numbers of cars on the road with multiple on/off exits. Out
in the country, between cities, on limited access expressways, I am very much
FOR changing the limit back to 70mph.
