This is a good case of the actual laws, the ones observed by the populace && the ones enforced by the police, being substantially different than what is recorded on some obscure documents that the legislature hasn't gotten around to updating. On the basis of considerable observation, I have noted that even the meaning of traffic light colors deviate from what outsiders might surmise. So, I would like to start this off with a couple of the "Real Laws for Boston Drivers": (1) A yellow light means := if you're less than half a block from the intersection, accelerate. (2) A red light means := only 5 more cars may go through the intersection. (3) If the car in front of you is speeding, tailgate him. (4) The lines that are sometimes painted on the road are to align the center of your car. (5) During rush hour, rush at all possible opportunities.
