This song was composed at the above time on US Rt. 46, near
the intersection of NJ 31, in memory of the road conditions, on the
way back from a hiking trip. I suggest that those of you who have a
chance avoid being there in similar situations.
"The drunks are driving ten by ten,
hurrah, hurray!
The drunks are driving ten by ten
hurrah, hurray!
The drunks are driving ten by ten
The front one crashed,
They're coming again.
...
The drunks are driving nine by nine,
. . . "
I'm sure you get the picture. We finally took some obscure back roads
(Rt. 24, County 513 to 512, if you care) which were almost as bad. The
number of small bars in rural New Jersey is astonishing. Apparently a
lot of them start to empty about midnight on Saturday. It's quite an
experience being the only apparently sober driver on the road. I suspect
the cops were hiding.
