Sorry, Chuck.  "Ich bin Berliner" means "I am a resident of Berlin".
"Ich bin ein Berliner" DOES mean "I am a jelly doughnut".
A "Berliner" is a type of doughnut as well as a resident of
Berlin; German does make the distinction between the two in this
fashion.
