Message-ID: <170@rna.UUCP> Date: Wed, 6-Jul-83 17:09:10 EDT Article-I.D.: rna.170 Posted: Wed Jul 6 17:09:10 1983 Date-Received: Thu, 7-Jul-83 21:17:58 EDT Lines: 15 Western Peripherals (Wespercorp) is producing a Unibus tridensity (to 6250bpi) tape controller, the TD3 (which succeeds the TS6251). It is cheap (~$2000) and TS-11 compatible. STC has a new 6250bpi 50ips tape drive which is also cheap, ~$8000. Has anyone used either of the above (or any other Wesper controller)? This combination sounds like a cheap way of getting a 6250bpi tape drive on a VAX or PDP-11. Any comments on Unibus bandwidth considerations ? 6250bpi at 50ips should be okay.
