You know, I'm getting tired of seeing advice that suggests
that you should just walk up to someone you are attracted
to and say "Hi, I'm rather shy but I thought that we might
	have something in common...."

What a contradiction in terms! Walking up to a total stranger,
starting a conversation, and claiming you're SHY!

Truly shy people do not walk up to strangers. Many even avoid
places where there might be strangers.

To my close friends, I may seem rather outgoing and friendly,
but I have a hell of a time getting to know people. I just
feel so uncomfortable in front of "strangers" that I tend to avoid
places where I would meet new people - bars, parties, etc.

Are there any other shy people out there? Maybe we could
start corresponding by electronic mail until we know each other
well enough to set up a party or a date...
