It seems someone went to a local zoo and scrounged up some scat (wap wap wocka doo, breep barop zibbedy....... ....NOT THAT KIND OF SCAT!!!) from the lion's cage, and spread it around the mountain garden. Apparently, the deer kept a very respectable distance.
