It is a known fact that on Holidays the road patrols are
after us in full force. They are pointing radar beams and
buzzing us with airplanes to keep us from using too much
fuel and getting to our destinations in a timely manner
and arriving in a relaxed frame of mind. Now I will jump
from sarcasm to state a point of experience.

Knowing this fact I left home on a journey that would
require driving I-5 through Oregon and Washington. I
decided that I would travel at 55 mph and avoid getting
cited for driving. The most interesting thing I discovered--
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE A CAR ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY
AT 55 MPH FOR MORE THAN 30 SECONDS!!!! I kept fighting me
and my car. We were not busted. My fuel consumption was not
improved. When I arrived at my destination my nerves were
FRIED. How do all you law abiders do it. Does the feeling
of being on a pedestal make it worth the effort? Come on
BTM, let me hear it from the top.
