Don't do DOS function call number 31 (terminate and stay resident)
under DOS 2.0 with the direction flag in the status register set to 1
("reverse"), else the system will crash.  Haven't had time to check
DOS 1.1, but I believe it works O.K. there.  Nor have I had time to
isolate ONLY this instruction and the DOS call; perhaps some other
condition AND this one cause the crash.
