I was born and have lived my entire life in various parts of
Los Angeles -- of course I learned to drive here as well.

When I first drove in Boston, I was impressed at how quickly
my regular driving habits had to be discarded to successfully drive
in the city and surrounding areas. Within about 15 minutes I found
myself thinking of the other drivers as "the enemies" and I was driving
in a rather "offensive" (as opposed to "defensive") manner. I wonder
what sort of side-effects long-term exposure to such driving has
on people's general attitudes, habits, and sexual behaviors?

I was also most impressed with the lack of arrows on roadmaps which might
have made working my way through the one-way street maze just a bit
easier. I was sometimes within a block or two of a street I needed to
reach -- but I could never get to it since the connecting one-way streets
would always be pointed in the wrong direction.

However, I guess that's about what I should expect from a city whose
street planners were cattle in search of greener pastures 200+ years
ago... (chuckle)

P.S. The last time I was in the Boston area, I got smart and was
able to take a copter from Logan to my final destination. It all
looks so *easy* from the air...
