Article-I.D.: utcsrgv.980 Posted: Fri Feb 4 19:57:31 1983 Received: Fri Feb 4 20:28:08 1983 Recently there has been some discussion over how to handle the dissemination over net.jokes of material that might be found objectionable by some readers. It seems that the solution that has generally been adopted is for such potentially offensive (to some) articles to be encrypted before submission. In general this seems to work out fairly well. However, I think that there is some material that should NOT be posted to the net, even in encrypted form. I do not make this statement lightly. I consider myself to be a broadminded person. Therefore, I tend to not be offended by the typical encrypted article on net.jokes. Some of these I find somewhat distasteful, but that is a matter of personal preference. But, recently I encountered an article (originally encrypted, decrypted by me) that I feel would be found EXTREMELY objectionable by ANY reasonable person whatsoever. I am very disturbed that such material is being posted to the net. I am of the opinion that almost anyone who read this particular article would share in these feelings. Do people have suggestions as to what could be done to discourage the dissemination of such trash over the net?
