No! What is the "infinitely smallest portion of 1"?? That is
gibberish. If you take the sum of the infinite series (that
is what we mean by "..."), you will get 1. This is clear from
an elementary knowledge of calculus. Mathematical proofs do
not go "Well, you know, it sort of works this way...". The
proper proofs of .999... = 1 are much more satisfying than
this kind of doggerel.
