I apologize about Chiron, and I was avoiding nitpicking about the
Hindmost - yes, it is a title, but remember that the Hindmost, at the
time of Ringworld Engineers, was no longer Hindmost!  But that's not
what I wrote to say -

	Beowulf Schaeffer's (I think I've misspelled that) first description
of a puppeteer begins "imagine a three legged *centaur* . . ." (*'s mine).
Ergo, I think we can now assume that the puppeteers chose their names on
purpose, recognizing their resemblance to creatures of mythology, yes?
Does anyone want to comment on why a manic/depressive would name himself
(or be named) "Nessus"?
