A minor point - English 'grave' and 'lie' don't "come from"
German 'Grab', 'lu:gen', and 'liegen'. Rather the English and
German words have common ancestors. Compare: French 'ami'
doesn't "come from" Spanish 'amigo'; they have a common
ancestor - they both "come from" Latin 'amicus'.
