Article-I.D.: otuxa.193 Posted: Tue Feb 8 08:39:50 1983 Received: Fri Feb 11 04:54:07 1983 Time to bring up the time honored neurotic query of the week: Trying to hard. As you dedicated net.singularan's know when we last left Xaphod, Phil, and Gillian -- oops wrong story. . . . I have been trying to see someone who has broken up an engagement. Well, as extremely bad luck would have it we haven't seen each other for about 4 weeks, and I don't THINK I am getting a brush off, but that raises today's topic. What signs have you noticed that someone is trying to tell you that you are trying to hard to make things work? Has pulling back helped when you noticed this? More generally, how much time do you invest before deciding to give up? (I know of cases of up to 4 years, but these have been discussed before). In my case, I decided since we weren't seeing each other I would call. The first two times I did this all went well, but the last time, I got the impression she was wondering what was going on with the phone calls all the time. On the other hand she just might have been tired. Oh the joys of neuroticism. .a As usual, any comments are appreciated and I will reply to any that are interested. Larry S.
