Speak out! For some reason, only the christian view of the Bible and God is being put forward... Some statements I've seen about Jewish belief recently on the net have been wrong. Most comments have come from people who use New-testiment quotes, and those who use old-testiment quotes tend to do so out of context and put a christian interpretation on them. I defy anyone to show me where the Devil is mentioned in the old testiment. I go further to ask where it is that the serpent becomes the devil. A recent article quoted Genesis with added words to make the meaning clear... It was about the curse that God put on the serpent where the seed of Eve will forever shun and hate the seed of the serpent. This person added in square brackets references to the Devil. This is not from Jewish tradition. The Devil, in his current form is based on the god Baal, who I think was the Babylonian Fertility god. The first mention that I am aware of is in the book of revelations. I am no new-testiment scholar, but I am well trained in Jewish customs and beliefs, and have read the old testiment many times, both in english and Hebrew. Please, if you must talk about Damnation, Hell and the Devil, DON'T USE OLD TESTIMENT QUOTES! They don't apply. I'm going to get counter flames, but I don't care... I've cleared the area, and am using an asbestose keyboard. I just get sick of having Christian philosophy presented as Jewish philosophy. It gives amunition to those who think it is their role in life to convert us "Pagens", although the ones who I worked with while I was in college never had read the old-testiment, and one had never read the new-testiment. She told me that it was not allowed for her to do so. She only read what her minister told her to read. This flame is getting off track... 451o Farenhite Daniel Glasser
