I thought that was hilarious, when I first heard about it, cuz if anyone has domesticated Dylan's vocal style, it's Dire Straits! Now doubt Dylan took advantage of Dire Straits' sudden surge of popularity to put his torpid career under a spotlight (which clicked off again, shortly afterward.) No doubt Dire Straits thought they couldn't go it alone, and signed together with Dylan as a security measure - which backfired. Honestly, I think they're a good band, with lots of potential yet. If they never tour, it's OK with me. Did Steely Dan ever tour? Michael Turner
