YET ANOTHER SPELLING AND GRAMMAR FLAME!

Well folks, just about time for another flame about
spelling and grammar!
("Do we have to through this again" you ask?
"Yes!" spoke he.)

I know that we have had this discussion a few months ago, but
I feel that it is time to open it up again. Since the last diatribes
by myself and some others (no, I can't take credit or blame for
starting those discussions but I heartily seconded the sentiments),
the "quality" of the spelling and grammar of submissions to the net
had seemed to improve.

I don't mind the occasional typo, we all are guilty of that, but,
just now, I read a netnews submission which, in a scant 20 lines
had no less than 13 spelling errors, 3 grammatical errors, and 2
typographical mistakes. (I had my wife check my counts and she
actually increased them from the original values.)

Please people! Not only are you making some other people cringe
when they see this kind of submission, but you are also
causing your views to be discounted as those of an "illiterate clod."
(I just happen to agree with a good portion of the article in question,
but others, who disagree, or who may be swayed from a neutral
stance by a well-reasoned argument, will tend to disregard it
because of the reason mentioned above.)

				NICK

P.S. I took some time out to check the spelling of one word I wasn't
sure of. This does not guarantee that I am letter perfect in this
submission to the net, but at least I tried to be. If you think
your views are valuable enough to post on the net, you should make
the extra effort to ensure that they can not be dismissed out of
hand for "trivial" reasons.
