I once went down the "New Hance Trail" to the bottom of the Grand Canyon back
when I was in high school several years (decades?) ago. I would recommend it
if you are not travelling with children under 12. We saw only one other person
during the three days we were in that area of the canyon (with the exception of river raft trips). If you have the stamina, avoid the main trail and take one
the seldom used ones. This goes for all parks. In Yosemite, there is a seldom
used trail up (literally) Indian Creek Canyon (I think that's what it was
called) behind the hotel there. Half way up was a waterfall and natural pool
that is the best this nation (outside of Hawaii) has to offer.
	Anyone interested in a net.rec.hiking?
