I wonder just what is meant by the adage:

"It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."

It makes sense, and it doesn't, depending upon how you interpret 'and lost.'
If it means unrequited love, to 'lose' without ever winning, even for a minute,
then I'm not sure whether I subscribe to the idea or not.  If it means that
you have loved, but have lost [in the long run, or whatever] then I guess I'm
of the opinion that it *is* better to have loved and lost than never to have
loved at all parse date string (nf)-

What do you sage and sensitive readers of the net think???
