GoodfellowRemailed-To: Info-VAX@SRI-CSL.ARPA: ; I tried building a fresh V3.1 system pack using the V3 distribution tape and the following floppies: AS-N205A-BE VAX/VMS MANDATORY BIN RX1 (VMSV300) AS-N461A-BE VAX/VMS V3.1 BIN RX1 1/5 (VMSV310) thru AS-N465A-BE " " " " 5/5 AS-P322A-BE VAX/VMS MAND UPD V3.1 RX1 (VMSV311) There seems to be a conflict between VMSV300 and VMSV310-- VMSV300 consists of LOGINOUT ECO 2 and ECO 3 SYS ECO 3 and ECO 4 VMSV310 includes the LOGINOUT ECOs of VMSV300, but there is no ECO 3 for SYS and ECO 4 is entirely different! I suspect that both changes to SYS in VMSV300 should have been lumped together as ECO 3. (I'm considering the resulting system image corrupt. Next week a "remastered" V3.2 tape will fall into my lap [oof!] and I'll see how well it performs. I would nevertheless like to know the story behind the V3.1 updates; any enlightenment would be appreciated. Please reply to the list. --EPS) Eric P.
