It would seem by local (San Diego) Standards, that $72.00 for a pair
of fins is a little high. Jet fins or their equivalents can be
found for at least 1/3 less if you look.

I use a wet suit that I purchased directly from Skin Diver Suits in
Kent Washington for about $75.00. This was a complete custom suit
(you measure yourself) and optionally the booties were just a few
dollars more.

The price for the courses vary quite a bit, but usually they are
offered at a loss in order to sell equipment. Excellent buys can be
had usually at the end of season sales or when the dive shops sell
there old rental gear just before the new season starts. Best bet
is to shop around and especially look through the diver oriented
magazines for bargains. The local shops often carry a selection of
magazines and its worth a dollar or 3 to browse through them.

Good diving!
