It makes sense, and it doesn't, depending upon how you interpret 'and lost.' If it means unrequited love, to 'lose' without ever winning, even for a minute, then I'm not sure whether I subscribe to the idea or not. If it means that you have loved, but have lost [in the long run, or whatever] then I guess I'm of the opinion that it *is* better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all parse date string (nf)- What do you sage and sensitive readers of the net think???
