			As the Net Turns
The continuing adventures of Billie Goldstien
(A major announcement is contained herein - read on)

...When we last left Billie (npois!bsg), she had dropped out of
net.singles, having found true love or lust on the network. She didn't
give any details at the time, simply stating that, by her own rules, she
couldn't contribute to the group any more. Was this the truth?
What sort of creature had she met? Was it male? Single? Human?

I have now been asked by Billie to post the following startling news.
She has indeed found true love, and will be entering into the married
condition on Sept. 4, 1983. The "lucky fella" (her words) is
Peter Stevens (ittvax!pkscom!peter), late of Waterloo and Toronto,
Ontario, who now works for PKS communications in Connecticut.

They "met" on the network in late October. P replied to some of B's
articles which she had posted in this very group. They corresponded
frequently, and finally arranged to meet in Manhattan on Nov. 23.
This led to several steamy weekends together, and then a vacation,
the likes of which can't be described in a newsgroup that children
might read. They realized that, what had started out as pure electronic
lust, had ended in something much more permanent (researchers are
working on a cure at this very moment). Fortunately, no rabbits
have been sacrificed yet.

On January 20, B asked me if I would announce to the net that she
had entered the state of engagement, and would be moving out of
the state of New Jersey. (Apparently, if you weren't born in
Connecticut, you have to marry someone there to be allowed to move in.)
Anyway, I was away at UNICOM, and Billie had to approve this, which
is why it took so long to post.

I'm sure I'm speaking for the entire network singles community when
I say that we're all very happy for you, and we're sorry it wasn't
us instead. Can I safely say that this is the first case of a man
getting himself an electronic-mail order bride? (He sent the first
message, and she's moving there. Therefore, I conclude that it was
he who got her.)

Engagement gifts (cash only) can be sent to the couple in care of:

Marriage proposals (in fact, any proposals) will also be accepted.
The groom is encouraged to present his own views on these issues
in this public forum. He is also encouraged to tell me privately
how he really did it.
