I wrote a letter to Douglas Hofstadter c/o Scientific American
concerning an item of recreational computation. In reply I received,
to my surprise, a book entitled "Nuclear War: What's in it for you?"
by "Ground Zero". A mimeographed sheet acccompanied it, explaining his
purpose, which was generally to rouse people out of apathy and fatalism
about this all important issue. Incidentally, he did write a personal
acknowledgment of my letter on the sheet.

I read the book, and after a brief surge of adrenalin I put my head back
in the sand. I assume I'm aiding his cause by informing the net of
this concern of his.
