I would like to thank everyone for correcting my Spanish, both publicly and
privately. I know that 'frijoles' means 'beans'. I was told, a long
time ago, that 'chili' means 'beans' by my sixth grade Spanish teacher. He
grew up in Cuba, which seemed appropriate since he is Cuban, and I never
thought of questioning his knowledge of his native tongue. Maybe he mis-
translated, maybe I misunderstood (along with the rest of the class). I'm
sorry I posted that note. I did it impulsively, without checking my rusty
memory of Spanish but I was only teasing the anti-beaners. Please direct
further comments on this to Bernardo Garcia', wherever he is.

learning to say 'faux pas' in Spanish,
                                    Ed Pawlak
