Article-I.D.: sdccsu3.254 Posted: Tue Jan 25 09:52:25 1983 Received: Fri Jan 28 20:17:41 1983 I agree that there definitely should be Killer games, as outlined on this net before, but I think that the idea could be greatly refined. Certainly, a typical-looking stand-up type video game, properly modified, could be used (this presents all sorts of opportunities to writers of murder-mysteries; what if someone didn't KNOW the game would run 10,000 V through them if they lost?...) but there are more interesting possibilities... Considering that this is the suicide's last fling, one should make him go in style. Instead of a single stand-up video game, one should use at least a large projection-screen television set in a dark room for the killer game; preferably something like an Omnimax theater should be used. One person at a time of course; the player must have Total Concentration. And instead of just arbitrarily zapping the unfortunate with 10 KV, he should be ended the same way he is in the game. If his ships get shot with lasers, then plug him with a 100 Kw pulsed-emission CO2 laser; the kind of thing which cuts sheet steel at 100 feet a second... If his ships get shot down, then use a 20 mm cannon... Of course, this would be rather more expensive than the typical video game; but, as the person will soon be leaving the world anyway, I'm sure he'd have no scruples about chucking his life's savings. It will take a special breed of people to run these places. That is my outline for the Video Addicts' Ultimate Game. I invite suggestions and commentary; reply this net. Jack of Shadows. (UCSD)
