Most of the countries of the third world have \very/ poor literacy rates, and usually no significant percentage of the population is educated in any real sense. 2) The third world is still going to compete for the natural resources which are consumed by material production (in large part by the nations of the first world). Europe and North America continue to consumee the Lion's share of the world's natural resources, and one day not too far off, the third world will demand its fair share.
