I agree with Bill Ricker--I'd like to move away from the political
flaming and hear from people who are willing to discuss more
personal aspects of "women's issues."

I have a question about personal experiences of abortion. In
particular, has anyone out there it netland gone through the
experience of deciding whether to abort following amniocentesis?

Amnio is put forth in the popular press as a *simple* procedure
to women who are considering pregnancy after age 35. But I wonder
how simple it would be to deal with the emotional effects of aborting
a very much wanted but very ill baby. I also wonder what kind of
denial is going on that the media puts forth the good news (now you
don't have to have a Downs Syndrome baby if you don't want one) without
talking about the bad (the test results aren't known until almost the
fifth month of pregnancy, and the only method of abortion available is
induced labor at a time when you will already have felt the baby move).

I haven't seen anything in the media dealing with this, and I wonder if
any of you have thought about it or dealt with it directly. No flames
or moral indignation, please.
