I really don't thinks this belongs in this news group, but this is
where the discussions about abortion are going on.

I have always wondered why when so many people are arguing pro and
con about abortion, that no one ever changes their opinion. I think
that is because no one is arguing about the "real" issue. And by
avoiding this real issue, the causes for peoples beliefs are not
being addressed.

The real issue behind abortion is SEX. Generally, people that are
against abortion are against recreational sex. Some people think
that the only purpose for sex is procreation and that recreational
sex is immoral. To these people, pregnancy and venereal diseases
are just punishment for such immoral behavior. Anything that
reduces such punishment, like abortion, encourages immoral behavior.

Other people think that recreational sex is just fine. These people
see pregnancy as an inconvenience occasionally associated with
pursing that pleasure. Abortion is therefore a perfectly reasonable
response, like going on a diet after too much holiday eating.

I have thought about this quite a bit and it seems to make sense to
me. While there are some people that don't seem to fit this mold,
at second look they often do. For example, the recent arrest of the
anti-abortionist who was fornicating in the back of a parked car
with a man who was not her husband. While you might expect this
person to think recreational sex is OK, I bet not. The world is
full of people who intentional do things that they feel are morally
wrong. On the other side of the coin, I imagine there are plenty of
people who say they are against recreational sex who are actually
just shy or self conscious and would be all for recreational sex if
they could get over their shyness (or whatever).
