I have much experience as an unattached single, I spent most of my
vacations visiting my pals who were too far away to visit regularly.

My old school chums are mostly in Massachussetts, hence many trips
there, also in Chicago, and N and S California etc. Visiting old pals
(often at grad school) is a great idea, because you meet their new
friends, etc. One of my favorite reasons to visit my pals in big
cities is the great food, one of the requirements for great vacations.

Skiing out west is a great vacation if you live in New Jersey. You
don't have to be a great skier to go out west. Ski out east about five
times (take lessons) and learn how godawfully atrocious the conditions
usually are and get your ski-legs. By the time you can slide down the
hill, you are ready to go out west to take lessons and find out what
real snow feels like under your slats. You really appreciate it after
your experiences in the east and if you beat yourself to a pulp, they
have hot tubs and other such corrective goodies. And the mountains
are so pretty.

If you are involved in folkie activities (dancing, music-playing) there
are camps to go to. I have never been to these camps, but I like
shorter term folkie gatherings, so I imagine that these would be fun.

Ha, just thought of a funny idea. It would be interesting to run a
bed-and-breakfast service using netnews. Sack-and-hack? Hmm...
