Anyone have a good remedy for a few emerging rust bubbles on
my trusty steed??? It's too early to shoot it and put it out of its
misery, and I can't stand to see the signs of deterioration from the
hostile Chicago environment. Any suggestions???
My problem is intensified by the fact that I am certain of
inevitable rust-to-the-max. The car in question is a Fiat X1/9, which
by all reports will rust to the winshield, as do others of the same
breed. Fiat has made some improvements, as evidenced by their recent
(rust-through) warranty - but that was a little too late for me, I
own a '79 that has seen but one chilling winter and already shows
signs of despair.
	My first instinct is to give up and stand in line for a 944;
I hardly need more reasons to buy one, it's just a relative shortage
of liquid assets, you see.
One final note: If you get the chance, I'd highly recommend
the X1/9 in for maximal fun-to-drive. You'd never believe how much fun
you can have ( even w/o extra-legal speeds ) in a simple jaunt to
the [substitute here the name of your local 24-hr food mart]. With
the poor excuses for cars (read transportation) that I've recently
driven, you'd never believe that it could be FUN to go for a spin.
The one-piece removable targa top can be stowed in the front trunk
in about 20 secs. (try it at a stoplight sometime). The handling
is extremely neutral, stemming from the mid-engine design. The
engine isn't outrageous, it's just peppy and efficient. You just
drive it like a mini-Ferrari (i.e. 0-100+ vs. 0-200+), with
reduced speed but plenty of handling and quickness. Try one -
it'll put a grin on your face (and be sure to get it rust-proofed!).

	Thanks in advance!
