He seems to kick off each touring season with three or four concerts in New York between Christmas and New Year's. For the last few years, his NY concert dates have included December 26, 28, and 30, regardless of the day of the week. He is sometimes at Carnegie, sometimes at Avery Fisher, and sometimes at Town Hall. His entourage usually includes countertenor John Ferrante (billed as a "bargain counter tenor"), who is terrific. I do not know if the orchestra tours with him -- in NY it's called the New York Pickup Ensemble, and he claims that it's all the local musicians who are so desparate they can't find work anywhere else. I dunno -- they sound better than that to me. Last Spring he appeared at Town Hall with Ferrante and pianist David Oei (pronounced as the French "oui"; I'm sure of the spelling). I have since seen Oei in a few other concerts. Keep an eye on him; he's quite something.
