Title: HP9000, anyone?

A usually reliable source claims that Hewlett Packard is soon
to announce a new Unix-based system. Called the HP9000, it is
supposed to use LSI processors singly or in combination. One
processor is somewhat less than a VAX-11/750, but three processors
are like a 782, but for under $100,000. The operating system is
supposed to be real Unix System III.

Anybody know more about it (at least, anybody who can talk
about it?) If it's real, it should be a great thing. Until now, HP
has made pretty decent hardware with operating systems that range
from quaint (Basic-only on the old HP2000) to adequate but stodgy
(MPE on the HP3000) to hopelessly nauseating (RTE-IVB on the
HP1000.) A real Unix on real hardware from one real vendor would
seem to be a big win.
