The first version of A news did "xerror(sprintf(...));" but for portability that all had to be changed to sprintf(bfr, ...); xerror(bfr); llib-lc and stdio.h could indicate that sprintf returns "void", or perhaps a pointer to some bizarre structure so any use of the value will be flagged as an error.
