Oh, yes, I forgot to tell you about the upper case bug.  If you have
version 4.3 of Berkeley Unix getty.c (the number refers to SCCS, not
the successor of 4.1bsd) there is a line something like:

	*np = tolower(np);

This is obviously wrong.  It should be:

	*np = tolower(*np);

I can't remember right now if the first or second "np" was missing
the "*", but this could account for getty looping when you try to
log in on an upper case terminal.  This bug is missing from 4.2 and
before, which simply wouldn't let you log in upper case.
