Ah, vacations. Microcosms of the singles existence. The best vacations
I have had have been those taken with a close friend or friends. The
worst have been those where I have been accompanied by a person or
people I didn't get along with. The bulk have been taken alone.

Although I have not done a lot of it, traveling with groups usually seems
to mean highly organized activities, something I can generally do without.
Vacationing alone gives you complete control, but no one to share the fun
with. Traveling with one or two like-minded people is best, but not easy
to arrange. Sounds like a profitable new market. I go to a travel agent,
and give them fairly detailed descriptions of what I want to do this year,
like: a week in Yosemite Valley, extensive hiking during the day, hot
shower and water bed at night, willing to pay for good meals and wine
to recover from the day's activities. The agent matches me up with one
or two others with similar inclinations, and makes a nice profit setting
up travel and lodging. If travel agents won't provide such a service,
maybe we should start up (yet another) group on the net.

By the way, what's all this "I'm not afraid to sign my name" stuff?
Have people who sign their names been disappearing? Do they start
getting solicitations from life insurance agents or computer dating
services?
