The high-idle spped problem also occurs on my '75 914,
which has a 1.8-liter flat 4 (basic BUG block) PLUS fuel-injection,
among other things. Anyway, the problem is injection system related,
and for my car has two related causes:
1) leaky seals on the injectors (too much fuel being injected),
2) a sticking air-flow sensor, which is a mechanical flap attached
to a pot.
I doubt whether the injection system is the same type (porsche doesn't
use it on any otjher cars either), but the causes may be similar.
Good luck.
