Hello,

First, let me repeat my earlier request to be added to your mailing list.
If this is not the correct drop for such a request, would someone please
send me a note saying so?

Secondly, I have a question about unmounting a file system. One of the
operators here, when removing one of our RK07 packs, issued a SYNC and,
without 'umount'ing the file system, removed the pack. The structure has
been rendered inaccessible. Could anyone explain to me what happened? I
thought that the SYNC re-wrote all in-core file system buffers to the disk.
Is is possible that failing to issue a umount destroyed only the link between
the root file system and the mounted one, and if so, can this be recovered?

Thank you for your time,
Doug Huneycutt
