(Part II) Thursday, June 24, 1982. Prof. E. A. Ashcroft of this department will speak on "Dataflow - Languages and Machines." TIME: 3:30 PM ROOM: M&C 5158 ABSTRACT Dataflow, as opposed to control flow, is an idea which promises to free computing from the confines of the von Neumann machine. Experience of other multi- processor architectures has taught us that program- ming considerations must be a decisive factor choos- ing in new machine organisations. We will discuss dataflow languages as well as dataflow architecture and come to the conclusion that Lucid (surprise!), or something like it, is the dataflow programming language. June 14, 1982
