There has been a number of excellent "serious" SF movies over the
years, although they have not been big box-office smashes. F. 451, indeed,
was one of them.  Another, that was just re-shown on PBS (at least locally),
is Ursula Le Guin's "The Lathe of Heaven" (1979 film). I thought it was
superb even though it was NOT a big-budget special effects film.  It was
a SF STORY film, not a special effects technology film.
