Can anyone explain the origins of the tradition of specifying the
path (or route) to one's machine when signing an article.
Perhaps it is different on other implementations, but from here it
looks redundant;  whenever I read an article from someone,
the "from" field of the article header seems to specify their address
as a path as seen from my home machine.  Just curious...
