It appears to be a bit cleaner job than Eunice, and it has different aims. It doesn't require ANY special priviledges to work. This means you don't need the cooperation or trust of your VMS system manager to run it. Also, the functional specification is section 2 of the Programmer's Guide. If it doesn't work that way, HCR considers it broken. A good example is that they run the Bourne shell COMPLETELY unmodified!! Redirected I/O and copied file descriptors merge the right way, and other subtle semantics all seem to work. I played with it a bit at Usenix, and we have been tracking their work closely during its development. We hope to have a copy of it here very soon. -Mike
