I'll start with the small flame:
I can't help wondering, after reading the previous several articles,
why I keep reading married persons' views about their marriages in
net.SINGLES. Is it perhaps that those who have gone before us
are showing us the way? Yes, I know they expressed their views
because the question was asked. But I don't think these answers
are in the same spirit as the question. The question, as I
understood it, was "What do singles think about marriage?"
I'm glad Mark and Alan are happy with their marriages. But I
don't think this is the place to discuss whether that happiness
is related to God. If people are really interested, why not start
a net.marriage?

Just to show that I can be constructive, as well, here's a topic I
would like to see discussed. (One that I think is relevant to
net.singles.) What do single people do for vacation?
This is a serious question. Most readers of this network,
I assume, are professionals earning a decent living. Most get/take
at least a week off a year. But most of the "standard"
vacation things to do are very couple- or family- oriented. There
are, of course, certain things that are organized especially for
singles, but those always seemed to me to have a strong flavor of
"singles bar" (or at least the Love Boat). What do "real"
singles (as opposed to posslq's and those involved in "meaningful
relationships") do? Do you take vacation with other singles? By
yourself? With couples? I'd welcome discussion of this question,
and I think it belongs in this newsgroup. (I.e., don't send mail,
unless you enclose a check.)
