Title: DEC -> 2.8BSD

Can anyone tell me what kind of performance benefits I can expect by
upgrading from a standard V7 distribution (DEC) to 2.8BSD (this is
for an 11/44 (Looks to software like a 70))? Also, am I right in thinking
that 2.8BSD is the distribution with the external buffer pool, hashed
buffer list/ilist and 1k block filesystem? (The only info I have currently
is some blurb about it in ';login' (usenix newsletter)) The article
was vague about this point and I thought that they might have been
talking about a USGS version of V7. Currently we can handle about 12
users with no big problems and I would like to know what I can expect
with 2.8BSD. Also, has anyone had any experience with bringing it up
on a 44? 		Thanks,
