I participated in this last weekend, and I can finally talk about it
coherently. It is 28 hours of INTENSE instruction spread over three
days. The class is offered by AOPA/ASF, but is given by a group called
Travelling Aviation Courses. The quality and the quantity of instruction
is unbelievable. We (private pilot course) had ONE instructor who talked
non-stop for the whole 3 days and managed to make every word interesting
and intelligable. This is quite a feat, especially since the FAR's are
not the worlds most interesting subject matter. I was especially impressed
by the emphasis on safety, not just how to pass the written exam. If you
feel that a course of this type would help you on the written (it really
helped me, I sailed through it Monday morning without problem) then I
highly recommend this program. The instruction is first class as is the
presentation and polish. I had planned to join AOPA anyway, but now I
am more enthusiatic than ever.
