I was hoping to read some wild discussions on who computer programmers
like to talk with. However, there hasn't been a lot of discussion
so far, so I will proceed to offend everybody with my own views...

1. Talking about computers with a computer person of the opposite
and hopefully fairer sex can be rather heavy, because both
parties already have a considerable amount of knowledge of the
subject. Such talks are not generally too successful.

2. Talking with somebody else in a technical profession - physics,
psychology, or medicine, for example - seems to be the most
productive. One can apply the logical/technical reasoning of
computer science to understanding what the other person is saying.
Besides, you can come away from it thinking you've really learned
    something.

3. Artsy types are generally impossible to talk to technically,
because they generally think independent of rationality.

To qualify this, these statements only apply to technical discussions.
While these are tremendous fun at times, they are not necessary for
good relationships, so I'm not saying two computer programmers can't
get along, or anything of the sort...

Before I put my foot in my mouth, I say:

I'm not afraid to sign my name!
