I can sympothize with Paul (Anderson). I too have died of startvation
trasfixed by the "gaze" of the floating eye, and boy was it frustrating!
I had just eaten a "cookie" (I am not much for slime-molds myself), and
by chance (is there ayn other way in rogue?) wandered upon a fun room
(light). There were about 10 monsters and 7 objects and I was licking
my greedy chops. Strange though, the first monster to meet me (at the
door way) was a WANDERING floating eye. I hit him and he transfixed me.
A bunch of monsters advanced to the door so they could take their turn
at me. When I was untransfixed (lost about 6 moves I guess), I swung and
missed. Well that was all she wrote! Please keep in mind that this
happened at 300 baud and I had just filled (I guess) my tummy. That
%&$#@! floating eye transfixed me AND WOULD NOT LET GO!!!!!
I sat there (AT 300 BUAD) and first watched all the monsters jam up at
the doorway where the floating eye was blocking them. (I think they
ment to do me bodily harm). Then I watched this STUPID bat jump
all around behind the monsters! This went on for a LONG time.
I could only "break" and then it would ask "Really quit?".
WWWHHHHEEELLLLLLL! Any true roguer won't "quit". Right? So I sat
it out hoping, and hoping, and hoping, ... and starved. Sigh.

I apoligize if this was not worth your while. I am new to this net
and remember hearing someone liked stories like this. If you want
to flame at me, burn yourself instead! A polite note will sufice.
Anyway, I like to hear the "amusing" stories. We can all sympothize.
