I really like the ideas presented here about cataloguing (?) records via
some sort of database system. However, this does not solve the problem of
sorting these records PHYSICALLY!! It may be very nice to stack records
semi-randomly and have the computer point you to where a particular record
is, but it's not something I'd use all the time ("Computer, give me a record
in the neo-Flimsian style that would suit the moods for a romantic encounter
during a nuclear attack").

I am still very interested in such systems, and once I get a machine of my own,
I plan to implement one for my collection. However, I guess I was asking for
PHYSICAL filing systems rather than computer-oriented systems. Thanx anyway
for the responses, and I'll be in touch with those of you who responded with
database system suggestions sometime in the future, when I get a home computer
for myself (as someone, whose name escapes me as I write this, said, it is a
great excuse for buying one).
