Digital recording and transmission seems to be the most exciting
idea since the development of stereo - well, even more exciting,
because a signal/noise ratio in the order of 90dB instead of 65dB can be
achieved now.

Digital tape recordings for new records are a fine idea but it
does not help you too much - there is a whole set of other sources of
noise at a disk (scratches, dust, .....).

        So - the future should

        a) develop digital tape recorders for the "normal" consumer
        b) substitute the current analogue transmissions of FM radio
           through digital transmissions

Does anybody know whether such plans exist?? When are we going to
have such systems?? Any references to some commonly available
journals (which I can find in the library of my university....)??
