Yes, i have heard of VC terminals
THe University of Waterloo uses trillions of them! (in fact we have the
very first 10 ever made about 10 yrs ago!)
The 404 is a fairly dumb terminal, and considering the student abuse
they get here, they are quite reliable
The are manufactured by the Volker-Craig company of Waterloo,Ontario,Canada
(recently bought out by Nabu of Ottawa,Ontario,Canada).
Service is normally quite reasonable, but i dont know what the border-crossing
implies.
However, if you have local techinicians, Volker-Craig sells low-level
hardware manuals (schematics, etc).
Normal sale price of the 404 is about CDN $1000 in single quantities and
depending on the options purchased (options include various interfaces such
as rs232, current loop, etc, apl character sets, coloured screens and more)
