Apple IIgs mouse movement erases the screen image in graphics modes like games [message #354650] Tue, 17 October 2017 21:19

At first I though it was a software concern with the image of Deluxe Paint that I downloaded. Moving the mouse across the screen would simply erase anything it passed over. Erases the loaded image, erases the menus, everything. But the menus still work when I click where I think they would have been..

Moving on to getting some games, I got Questron II for the IIgs. Same thing! moving the mouse erases the pixels it passes over. Again all the menus and screen clicks work.

So I am left thinking this is a hardware issue. The IIgs currently has an Apple memory card with 1MB of chips on it. I have a 4MB card coming in the mail, but the more I think about it...

Is maybe the original IIgs monitor I am using having trouble with redraw after mouse movement? DUing regular IIgs desktop usage without hi-res graphics there is no issue. AppleWorks IIgs works fine, for example.

Anyone ever see something like this?
