“Imoto sae Ireba Ii” is a new rom-com based upon a light novel. A group of young writers get together for food, drinks and to shoot the breeze. They are starting to see professional success but have some problems. Most evident are the problems of twenty year old Itsuki Hajima who has written himself into a corner by focussing on his outward obsession with “little sisters”. His Editor has just rejected Itsuki's latest idea and is pressuring Itsuki to come up with the next volume of his current series instead of spending time trying to write something new.

Another of the group is Nayuta Kani who is a brilliant and award winning eighteen year old. Outwardly she acts like a nymphomaniac around Itsuki who rejects her advances. But something seems less obvious about her. There is also the most successful of the group, twenty-two year old Haruto Fuwa who is having one of his novels turned into an upcoming anime. And along with other hanger-ons there is Itsuki's younger step-brother Chihiro who comes by to cook for the group.

The first episode opened up with Itsuki's editor viciously rejecting Itsuki's new and rather idiotic idea. The show then goes into the dinner party that evening in which the characters are introduced and some hints are given about them. Otherwise, not much happens. My impression from the hints is that there will be some level of angst in the story and not a lot of the sort of humour that I enjoy. The only mystery is which if any of the girls Itsuki will actually feel comfortable enough with to have some sort of relationship. That's not enough to keep me around so I'm calling it quits and my final rating is C.
