“Hoozuki no Reitetsu” is back for a second season so we once again get to watch the droll antics of the Chief of Staff of the Japanese Hell. The key regulars are back and some interesting new demons have been introduced. The first episode gave the audience a fair amount of background on Hozuki which was fun to watch as one might expect. Hozuki is always Hozuki, even when he was a little kid.
The animation, artwork, voice acting, direction and writing are all top notch again. The jokes are funny and weird – who would expect a reference from Turn A Gundum to show up? As with any good comedy, everyone stays in character and the comic timing is spot on. So as I expected, it looks like I'll have at least one guaranteed show to watch this season. My initial rating is A.
