The Summer 2017 anime season is slowly draining away into the morass of forgotten images and the Fall 2017 anime season is getting ready to present itself with varying levels of fanfare. For whatever reason I've decided to be different this season and to try out more new anime series than I have in quite some time. I guess it's another case of “hope springs eternal” or something like that. There are a number of new shows that I won't bother with - sequels to series that I didn't like the first time around, series based upon manga stories that I didn't care for, and series that just sound too unlikely to grab my attention. But otherwise I'm deliberately avoiding pre-selecting based up synopses or PVs. Thus October ought to be fairly busy for me as far as anime viewing goes.

So the shows where I'll try at least the first episode are the following (in order of announced broadcast date):

“Omiai Aite wa Oshiego, Tsuyokina, Mondaji” - It's josei and supposedly etchi, so why not see if this romance based upon a manga is watchable or not.

“Juuni Taisen” - A magical fighting anime based upon a novel by Isin Nisio. So worth checking out just for the author.

“Black Clover” - A shounen magical fighting anime based upon a manga. Probably paint-by-number, but just in case...

“Sengoku Night Blood” - A magical fighting anime based upon a visual novel. Again probably p-by-n, but I won't know until I look.

“UQ Holder!: Mahou Sensei Negima! 2” - The new manga didn't do anything for me, but the other Negima anime adaptations have been so bad that they were funny, so many lightning will strike this misbegotten franchise again.

“Infini-T Force” - A superhero show based upon a manga but apparently will have lots of guest heroes from various classical hero show series. Worth watching to see if it will be as bizarre as the concept seems..

“Urahara” - Cute girl fantasy based upon a web manga. The storyline sounds familiar, but I'm curious to see if it can be better than the synopsis.

“Konohana Kitan” - Cute youkai girl fantasy based upon a manga. Probably crap, but I haven't tried any of these sorts of shows in a while, so maybe I've mellowed (or I'm becoming senile enough to not care...)

“Oretachi Youkai Ningen” - Remake of a late 60's anime that was remade in 2006. I didn't care for the 2006 version, but I'll give this one a try and see how it stands another update.

“Osake wa Fuufu ni Natte kara” - Husband/wife comedy based upon a web manga. I don't remember if I've seen the web manga, but similarly themed comedies tend to be pleasantly etchi.

“Just Because” - Original anime that is likely to be a tear jerker, but who know – it might be well done.

“Saredo Tsumibito wa Ryuu to Odoru” - Magical fighting anime based upon a light novel. No more and no less promising that most of its kin.

“Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou” - Post apocalyptic tale based upon a manga. Probably fodder for poking holes in its world making, but I'll give it a chance.

“Fireball Humorous” - I loved the earlier Fireball series so there's no way I'll miss this one.

“Houseki no Kuni” - Yet another magical fighting anime that is base upon a manga. I wonder if I'll be able to tell all of them apart after the first few weeks?

“Vanishing Line” - An original anime that apparently have adult characters. Worth checking out for that alone.

“Code:Realize” Sousei no Himegimi” - Fantasy adapted from a visual novel. Could be good, could be crap – no telling without checking it out.

“Dies Irea” - Another visual novel fantasy adaptation. Same thought as the one above.

“Imouto sae Ireba Ii” - Adaptation of a light novel with a strong siscon slant. I haven't tried any of these in years, so I'll check it out to see if the genre is still as bad as I remember.

“Kujira no Kora wa Sajou ni Utau” - Adaptation of a fantasy manga with a bizarre premise.

“Hoozuki no Reitetsu 2nd Season” - The second Must Watch anime of the new season. I loved the manga and the first season.

“Net-juu no Susume” - Adaptation of a web manga story about a 30 year old single woman. That alone is different enough to justify trying it.

“Boku no Kanojo ga Majimesugiru Sho-Bitch na ken” - Another web manga adaptation of an etchi comedy. Will it translate to anime?

“Inuyashiki” - Adaptation of a sci-fantasy manga about an old guy who gets a new “start” on life.

“Dia Horizon” - Original fantasy anime. Don't know enough to comment.

I wonder if you'll be able to tell them apart after the first few
minutes. But that may be just me being depressed about the
factory-generated series that have dominated the schedules for the past
few seasons.--
