As we all know, Woz saved some bucks by not adding a sensor to the apple drive which led to all the lovely banging noises we suffer through on a daily basis. I'm wondering if anyone has ever hacked their drive to include a sensor so that any movement of the head beyond a certain point was not allowed, thereby eliminating the racket.

IIRC, there were some third-party half-height drives that inhibited seeks
beyond track 0. The drives came with a track 0 switch, and they used it.

Yes, my half-height 5.25" and 3.5" floppy drives are a lot quieter than my full-height Apple Disk II drives are.
